So currently running the nightly 17 build, but issue was the same with previous builds. Curious if anyone else has this issue or if there is a fix. Issue I'm having is since the install of CM10 [all builds I've tried so far], when sending a Voxer message, the audio recording is incredibly low. Also, if Voxer application is running in the background, when making a phone call, the call quality is horrible and modulated. Quit Voxer, and phone quality is back to normal. Didn't have any such issue with stock. Thanks.

The low volume is probably tied into the same bug that's giving the video recording low volumes, which hasn't been addressed yet and has been going on for a while.
Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be connected but with the phone call quality also dropping after voxer use I wasn't sure. If anyone else is using voxer on CM10 can you confirm a severe audio distortion if you use voxer, then immediately after make a phone call?

I don't use voxer at all, I just know that there's an issue with the developers not using both mics in our phones(or at least thats what I am believing the low volume in the video recording is... seems like they're using only the mic that is when the phone is up against your head/mouth and not the 'speakerphone' mic to grab audio around the room)
Voxer
How did you get you voxer to work at all? i launch it, the screen flicker for about 10 secconds, then my whole pohne shuts off, and i need to remove battery to get it to come back up. any help anyone?
It just worked for me. I did a clean install, etc... The only oddity is that when the phone dialer and voxer are open [even in the background], then any subsequent phone calls have audio interference. Force close voxer and it immediately goes away. That and the low audio recording issue that everyone already knows about.
same issue

I can confirm that I am having the same issue with cm10 on my gs3. I didn't realize that if you closed voxer the issue was fixed. Thanks for the tip. it's there somewhere we should submit this bug?
I've had the exact same issue...

I am looking for a decent two way call recorder app for my rooted Sensation. Anyone having good experiences with any app? If so, which app, and did you use a special ROM or kernel to enable it to work?
I do not want to have to turn on speakerphone for the recorder to hear the other side of the conversation. A lot of apps have this problem.
Maybe this will help??:

I tried the one shared in that thread, which was also shared in another thread. It didn't work at all until I switched to Bricked Kernal. Then it worked, but very poorly. The other voice was extremely quiet and my voice had additional noise and was loud but not clear.
I tried DSoft CallRecorder and it crashed when I dialed the phone.
Then I tried Total Recall (default settings) and that works. The other voice is still slightly low in volume but nowhere near as bad as I got with the recorder shared in this thread. I am still on Bricked. If I am going to go with Total Recall, do I need to stay on Bricked Kernal? Or should I go back to what I had before, which I think was an HTC kernal?
Also, curious if anyone say good results with any other call recording application?
My Nexus 5 microphone does not seem to be working while in calls. What is strange is it seems to work jsut fine when used in Skype, suggesting that this is a software issue. Also strange is that when I turn the microphone mute on/off during a call, I can hear that when the microphone is muted there is less fuzzy white noise. Has anyone encountered this issue? Is this a defective device? I've flashed this device with alternative ROMs, and now I've reflashed it with the factory stock ROM. But nothing changes the behavior that I've described.
I discovered another thread on this that seems related to what I am experiencing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538979
Have you done anything to the device other than ROM flashing (flashed kernel, MODs, etc)?

I think the answer to that question is no. I mean, I had also installed various apps and the like.

Yep, you have the problem many people have encountered with their Nexus 5. I occasionally have this issue. It isn't as bad as when I first got the phone, but the microphone does occasionally go wonky during a call (i.e. callers on the other line say I sound really far away from the phone). The first 2-3 weeks I had the phone people would say all they heard was static while using the microphone (not speakerphone). It works better now, but the static/distant sound persists at times.
The consensus suggests it seems to be a software related issue that Google has not addressed yet.
Hello
I noticed my Moto G LTE microphone volume is pretty low in Whatsapp, Recording apps and in calls. Other devices are much louder and clear (I tested against the SGS2 and SGS3) anyone facing this problem too or is my device broken?
I found using the QCATest app that the DEAFULT MIC (one used for all the mentioned above) has vey low volume but none background noise, PRIMARY MIC on the other hand, has little background noise but much better volume. I guess it's a software issue regarding the background voice cancellation mechanism? can anyone confirm this?
Not a single comment?
Please let me know if you have this problem or not. I don't know If I should contact Motorola and get my device replaced.
Thanks
A friend of mine is reporting a similar problem on calls - callers claim they can't hear well. I'm trying to figure out what is going on.
Bump...
No one noticed the low volume compered to other phones?
Please post your feedback

If you have a scratch guard them try removing it.
If it's not the problem, contact Motorola.

I only have a tempered glass which doesn't cover the mic hole.
I tried contact Motorola via their forums, no luck yet. I can try to send the device for "repair" but the waiting time will be too long (I don't have official support from Motorola in my country) and with problems like this, they might just send the device back to me claiming there is no problem at all.
I already found few people with this problem too but not a straight answer on this.
If Cm11, try bass boost

If you're using CM11, try enabling bass boost in the DSP settings.

I'm using stock rom 4.4.4 no root
I guess I should replace my phone as no one is seems to be having this issue.
Edit: If someone can post a sample recording from a supposedly normal device for me to compare I would appreciate this very much. Thanks
Can anyone actually point a recording app that they using and works good with the Moto G (as you can put your phone in the desk and speak at normal level and being able to hear ok)?
No one have a word on this? Although I found that the volume in the camera recording is much better it's still very far behind basically any other phone.
I have the same problem only apps that works fine is when I'm recording on Vine, but Instagram, the Camera App, Snapchat all have very very low mic volumes
Really hoping i'm not the only one experiencing this issue.
Whenever I make a call using the main microphone (not speakerphone) after a few minutes people say i sound "muffled" or they hear a "clicking" sound. The clicking sound happens just before my mic cuts out entirely and the other person cant hear me until i switch to speakerphone. Oddly enough, switching from speakerphone then turning it off solves the issue for a minute before it happens all over again. Additionally resetting the phone seems to fix the issue for an hour or so. I have yet to try and repeat this error using a VOIP call like FB messenger.
Anyone else experiencing this, or can offer some help?
Hey guys,
i have been using EvoX for quite a while now and really like it. Except it has a bug which causes the volume in snapchat video recordings to become very quiet, leading to my snaps being inaudible.
This is not a hardware issue, as when i am calling or recording audio messages, everything is fine.
i switched to Pixel Experience today, only to find out that this rom also has the issue...
Is there any potentially good ROM without this bug? Or even better, a fix for every ROM?
Help is greatly appreciated.
