Restoring stock recovery? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi,
I have the Japanese S2 LTE, for which there appear to be no custom ROMs. So I'll have to (urgh, this is not why I bought an Android phone) use the carrier's ROM. BUT when I try to do an OTA update, it boots into CWM. I assume this is because the OTA update is setup to work with the stock recovery. So does anyone know where I can get the stock recovery from? I assume I'll need to use Odin?
edit: more info:
Model: SC-03D
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: SC03SOMLB9
Kernel: 2.6.35.11-SC03DOMLB9-CL980106
[email protected] #2
Build number: gingerbread.OMLB9
Also, I'm pretty sure the recovery will be the same as the Skyrocket. Almost everything about the phones is the same, save for the buttons and LTE chip.
TIA

Not sure of your model number, but a quick Google search came up with this...

Let me know if it's what you're looking for and, if not, we'll keep trying.

Sent from my I-727 Skyrocket running an Android version AT&T probably won't give me for another year.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, SC-03D. It's the Japanese LTE model on Docomo. The LTE radio is different, and it only has one hard button with two touch buttons (like the original Galaxy S).
That thread is titled just Galaxy S 2 - will that work on an LTE?

Thanks. I don't see anything on there about the Japanese version of the phone?

I'll update the OP with more information.

For any future reference - I found a complete stock Docomo ROM on SamMobile and flashed it in Odin. My phone is now being treated (by Kies/OTA update) as a fully up to date, unmodified phone. Not that that really helps, Docomo still haven't released ICS. In October 2012. Still on Gingerbread. Yep.

Back to stock

Hi Guys,
My girlfriend have a Nexus S and I just flashed an ICS ROM and almost everything is fine, but shes complaining about radio performance. Everything was fine with gingerbread but now she gats poor signal from 3G network.
I dint have too much experience with the Nexus because I used a Galaxy S and now I have a Galaxy S II. With this models I can aways get completely back to stock using Odin.
I was just wondering with this is possible with the Nexus S, so I can put that smartphone back to stock and tell her to wait for que OTA update.
Sorry if this is a dumb question here but, you know, this kind of things changes a lot between different models of Android smartphones.
go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664 and make sure you download for correct phone model and flash in cwm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
Or here to flash the radio you or she, had before
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Change the Radio
what phone does she have? I9020T(t-mobile) or I9020a(AT&T) or I9023(international)?
usually ICS roms are coupled with the KI radio. Check if you have it in setting/about phone/baseband version
weak signals are usually caused by baseband/kernel. did you try flashing the stock ICS OTA?
My advice is just swap between KB3-KD1-KF1-and KI1
you might have stronger signal with one of them depending on your region.
Hope I helped
Hi guys!
Thanks a lot for the tips. I'll try to fix the signal thing first and if I can't I'll put the phone back to stock and wait for the OTA update.
Her Nexus S is a I9020a we bought in a travel to Canada and it worked ok in Brazil before flashing the ICS ROM.

The rom you have flashed contains the KI radio(works only on i9020t and i9023) and the rom itself also maybe incompatible for i9020a.
My advice is :
1-to download this ROM(its great)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397358
2- download the new UCKF1 radio for i9020a:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
follow the steps for installing the rom found in the same thread(including wipes and Gapps)
after flashing, dont restart you phone, flash the UCKF1 radio, wipe dalvik and then reboot.
you should be ok
Ps. even if you flash back to stock it will not work, because the .Zip stock roms on XDA are all OTA and do not contain radios as I recall, just a Rom. If you happen to revert back to gingerbread stock, make sure you flash the radio too
Hi guys,
I liked the idea of flashing a stock rom for the i9020a again, but this stock ROMs are coming in a .tar package that I just cant flash using CWM.
I really sorry for this dumb questions, but I'm used to deal with stock ou custom ROMs with the Galaxy S and now with the Galaxy S II. With this models I just flash a stock ROM with Odin when I want to go back to stock. I don't know how to do this with the Nexus S and I couldnt find that newbie guide using the search. Sorry.

[Q] Help with Installing ICS on I9020

Hi everybody,
I'v got a Nexus S with original ROM (no custom ROMs), now running android version number 2.3.6.
I don't get ICS update, and after waiting for a long time, decided to do it manually. I have two questions:
1. Is the update stable for normal use.
2. How do I do the update? Where I find the update file? is there a good and simple guide?
My device details are:
- Nexus S
- Android version: 2.3.6
- Baseband version: I9020XXKF1
- Build number: GRK39F
- The phone was bought at BestBuy in the US, as a SIM free device.
Tnax for any help.
Dodo.
Which carrier are you on? Your device is most likely i9020T if you bought it at bestbuy. You can find the update.zip in THIS THREAD, and as far as install instructions, the video below is pretty good. (just skip to 1:40 and go from there) also keep in mind:
-the video says you need T-mobile nexus s. You don't. as long as you have the i9020T your good.
-The .zip file will have a different name than the one in the video.
So, go to the thread above, and scroll down to "FULL ROMS-FLASHABLE ROMS" and click on "Android 4.0.3/IML74K/XXKI1 Radio/KL1 Bootloader" It should start downloading right away. after that, just follow the steps in the video.
I believe you are using the same phone as me...I am on FIDO in Vancouver Canada. I am using the CyberGR MOD V.7 which can be found in android development section. Extremely Stable i.e no issues at all..with everything working. You gotta jump the ship..do it do it...
Are you rooted?

[Q] Windmobile Version of SGS4G

Is the Windmobile of the S-4G available to be flashed to ICS? I've flashed a few phones, just having a hard time figuring out what variant the Windmobile version is and if it's upgradable with cyanogen to a later version, debating about upgrading tomorrow to one.

Try looking at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552119
Bhundven was able to confirm that the phones are [almost] identical with a few small differences and that flashing ROMs for the 959V should be safe. Again, read the thread for more detailed information.
Pay close attention to this warning though: "If the rom contains bootloaders, please DO NOT flash them until we can confirm there are no bootloader differences."
As FBis251 said later, "TLDR: Don't flash bootloaders if the ROM contains bootloaders. No CWM roms contain bootloaders, a lot of heimdall/odin roms contain bootloaders."

If the phone come with gingerbread installed yes. You just have to be very careful. The bootloaders we have are for the T-mobile version. So if you foul up and need to flash back to stock with bootloaders you are boned. However if you just want to flash a flavor of ics this can be done with the purple link in my signature. That will get you rooted with clockworkmod recovery then just flash one of the flavors of ics.
With all that said search is your friend, this information is posted in this subforum AND the general android forums. Our dev bhundven has a couple threads on how to do this.

I've asked people if they have the stock leaked rom for t959w to PM me, and no one has.
Someone also offered to try flashing t959v bootloaders, but never got back to me. My guess is that either it worked great and he is quietly rockin some rom in the dev forum, or it bricked his device and he didn't know what to do with it.
If someone has a t959w they are replacing, I'd like to try my hand at applying AdamOutler's unbrickable mod and experimenting with bootloaders on that device.
There is also the t959p, which is the telus galaxy s 4g.
This phone is different then the t959v or t959w. It has cg2900 gps, where as we have a-gps and there are a few other differences.
The same goes there. If someone has a t959p, I'd like to try the same.
Thanks everyone. I normally search, I was just in a rush as I was getting a new phone this morn and it was between the S 4G or the Q with the slide out keyboard, but it seems no one decided to do anything on the Q, so I went for the S 4G. I'll do lots of reading before I decide to flash or not, I just like having the option.

Is there a 4.0 Stock International ROM or Firmware

My boss gave me his galaxy s2 skyrocket to flash
i was originally running JB 4.1 on a custom rom, but i tried like 2 roms and they were to buggy for him and not stable
so since i couldnt find a really stable JB 4.1
hes asked to see if i can find the 4.0 Firmware of this phone but for the INTERNATIONAL version
I wasn't even aware the Skyrocket had a international version
What do you guys think
?
Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE comes in:
ATT: SGH-i727
T-Mobile: SGH-T898
Rogers: SGH-i727R
International: GT-I9210/T
ATT & Rogers are easily interchangable, the Hercules (SGH-T898) may need a little tweaking to get it working right but not too sure on the international version, I've heard people flashing the international version with CM9 for the SR but haven't heard of anyone flashing the International version of ICS to the SR.
The hardware is identical with only difference being the CPU Model# which is the same CPU they used on the T-Mobile version (APQ8060) vs (MSM8260).
Really its best to flash only the ROMs that are made for your phone but if the hardware is similar you can probably do it but I don't see why you want to.
If he wants he can use AT&T stock, CM9 or a custom ROM.
Does he want something from the international version of ICS?
Remember using a different ROM for a different phone you will need to have a different Modem and may have a chance to brick so only do at your own risk.

He wants international so he can get be able to Text in Chinese etc etc
When I upgraded him to 4.1 the Chinese stuff was all good to goo
Had issues getting it to work on 4.0, the text would come out in Chinese, but the receiver would get a bunch of symbols, like i said upgrading to 4.1 fixed this, i think 4.1 and more languages or something
Thats why he wants international, he travels a lot as well so its convenient.

I've flashed several phones with several roms, I have my own Galaxy S3 running perfect on a AOKP rom
When i flashed my bosses phone I did the usual, wipe data/ dalvik / factory reset / flash rom
First ROM i used was Superlite, phone would go black and would require force shut off, this would happen randomly during idle or something or overnight
So i switched to SKYJB 5.0
no more screen hanging up black but got screen flickering issues, so i went into dev options and checked the H/W option..
as of now he took the phone back since he said that was the real issue.
Which rom would you recommend that runs very stable?
things have changed, like i said all new cm10 are stable, well mine is which is superlite v7.0, but that one has no chinese support, but superheavy does, cm10 is 4.1
as for international, he just has to worry about the radio and apns
So which CM10 would you suggest? specifically

not a good question to ask on this forum, "which is best", read the individual rom threads and see which ones would suit your/his needs, but since i only use my rom, then superheavy should fulfill his needs, its posted on my sig for superlite

[ROM][4.2.2/4.3] Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition

Hey guys, this is the Google Edition Galaxy S4 rom for AT&T SGH-i337/Canadian SGH-i337M/T-Mobile SGH-M919/GT-i9505 and Sprint SPH-L720 and Verizon SCH-i545. :victory::victory:
Instructions:
1) Reboot into Recovery
2) Wipe data/Factory reset
3) Install rom
4) If running AT&T i337, flash Loki Doki
5) Reboot
The directions are the same for 4.3 and 4.2.2.
If you end up in a bootloop, you can try rebooting into recovery, go to Mounts & Storage, format /system and format /data, and re-install ROM, and reboot. (Only if you end up in a bootloop after installing.) :good:
Don't know how to flash a rom?
Here are some instructions, thanks to galaxys4root.com, http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-tutorials/how-to-install-custom-rom-on-galaxy-s4/.

Not really. For me, the battery is a little less than average. I guess it just depends on the features you turn on. But I suggest running 4.2.2 as that's what I'm doing because if something goes wrong it'll be slower to get help because you're ahead of the pack

Can someone PLEASE PLEASE post the baseband that comes on the GE GS4 model to download?
I am beyond puzzled why no one hasn't released it yet. I really want a copy being that it probably doesn't have the restrictions that AT&T has Samsung add into the Baseband for their phones. I want the stock Google baseband that is untouched by AT&T.
Thanks.

I have the GE Rom right now. It lets me turn off HSPA/LTE and force 2G. Also lets me get off LTE and stay on 3G (have to go thru the service menu though)
