[Q] HTC Evo vs Samsung Epic (Galaxy)

My Evo's charging port broke and Best Buy is giving me a store credit to replace it (yay black tie warranty ). Thing is, they are back-orderd on evos but have the samsung epic.
I liked the evo, but I'm always thinking the grass is always greener.
I've read the reviews and comparisons (http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Samsung-Epic-4G-vs-HTC-EVO-4G-review-r_2527-p_4.html), but that really compares out-of-the-box evo vs out-of-the-box epic.
I rooted/nand-unlocked the evo right away using ADB. Wasn't as simple as brushing my teeth, but definitely wasn't the most difficult thing to do.
It looks like Epic doesn't have froyo, but does it have a froyo rom yet? (i'm partial to cyanogen).
What's your guys' opinions (especially the hackers/modders/developers)? I know the epic has been rooted, but are there good ROMs out there like Fresh or Cyanogen (my former evo ROM) for epic?

[Q] which sprint 4g phone should i get?

I am torn on the HTC EVO and the HTC EVO SHIFT coming out tomorrow. I know a lot about the 2 (processors,screen size, cameras,price etc). I currently have an epic and its great but I miss htc and I am willing to pay full price for both because I would sell my epic. What do you think I should get? I've owned an evo before and my dad has a tmobile G2. I know that the evo shift is faster even though it has an 800mhz processor compared to the evos 1ghz, but I'm torn.

I would say go with the shift. Newer hardware is always better. Plus imo the screen on the evo is completly washed out while the shifts looks more vivid. Plus a keyboard is always a win=win situation in texting and emulators.. Just my little "rant"

Go with the Evo, not the Shift. Main reason? The Shift is the baby sibling of the Evo. The onscreen keyboard is awesome (and you should install the Gingerbread keyboard and it'll make it even more awesome)... everything is awesome. If you've had the Evo before, why compromise and go DOWN? If you were coming from something like a BB or a G1, I'd suggest going to the Shift, but you've used an Evo before. Go balls to the wall, man.
Oh, and you can get the Shift at Best Buy or Radio Shack right now.

Ok trade evo for shift or epic

Ok my chick wants my evo and I have a chance to go back to the epic or try the shift I need help on to decide if I want to keep evo or go for the other two 4g phones plz help me thank u bc den wise on evo is great and I know what Im doing from easy one click root and recovery too everything else vs adb Idk how and steps wise with shift and some what epic plz tell me good opinions thanks people

Eh, with the shift you would have the newer Snapdragon plus a keyboard, but you lose the bigger screen. The Epic, there's dev work being done on it so it has froyo through custom roms right now, but not official until the 22nd of this month I believe.

The epic is getting froyo on feb 21. I say get the epic if you like a bigger screen. The shift felt like a hero with a keyboard. I've messed with the shift. Doesn't feel any faster than the epic. 4.0 screen is the sweet spot for me.

Ah see that's nice official froyo so hmm it just sucks if I go to epic bc I just got a defender otterbox for my evo so my chicks gonna have that and then I got the white back piece to it she will have that too. She's taking all my goodies along with Ima miss sense and I doubt there's roms out for epic that has sense. Plus they don't make defender otterboxs for epic and I don't know why. I just wanna try somthin different and I'm pushing now more towards epic but I still need options.

I would go.with the Epic 4G. The slightly larger screen that is also better is a plus for me.
I have the Captivate which is the same phone as the Epic sans.a keyboard and I love it; albeit if I could have a keyboard I dont think I would go for it.

I just bought the evoshift via ebay and I plan to sell my evo.
I don't ever want to deal with samsung... I like HTC build quality and the shift will get dev attention soon enough. oc to 1.8 stable 1.5 not bad

What from a I can hear, you guys seems to be in favor of HTC phones. Im looking into upgrading phones and I was curious as to whether or not the Evo is better than the Evo shift. Those are definitely the two leading phones in my opinion but I wanted to know if you guys had any thoughts from being direct users.

See the only thing stopping me from shift is the screen size and no front facing camera and lower mp on camera vs 8mp so that's about the only thing really why I'm pushing more towards Samsung bc its stays in specs with the evo pretty damn close

I love my evo everything about it I still keep asking myself why do I wanna get rid of it but I just wanna try something different ima flashoholic and I see other roms and roots experience different hardware so on. But I do recommend the evo bc its the ****

evo is better

go read up in the epic section, the majority of people hate it.
Go check out the shift section and you will see the opposite.
Just got my wife the shift and I have to say that it I'd a fantastic phone, and the camera is good.
Plus samsung support is god awful.

Epic hands down! It's super easy to root, about the same size of the evo, you don't compromise screen, and they got some great roms

[Q] Upgrade from Hero to Nexus S a good decision?

I've got a perfectly good HTC Hero CDMA, but I'm currently being tempted to upgrade. As you all know, the Hero is rather dated these days.
In Canada a Nexus S can be had for only 425$, and with the release of the Nexus S 4G on Sprint, the Nexus S seems to still be relevant.
However I'm torn because I know it's just a Galaxy S underneath.
Maybe I should suck it up and wait for a viable dual-core option?
If anyone wants to help me make this decision I'd be very thankful.

a buddy of mine just went from a hero to the nexus s- and he's blown away by the difference. I would maybe wait for the HTC EVO 3D, not necessarily for the 3D, but it will be a killer phone. It'll have the dual core snapdragon in it and will come stock with a 1730mAh battery. I will most probably go from the EVO 4G to the EVO 3D. It's suppose to come out some time this summer- i would hold out for that one!

Y not the lg 3d? but ya i am very impressed of the smooth scrolls and animated ui of the nexus s. Similarities as seen on an apple iphone.

Thanks guys, I'm actually stuck on a Canadian carrier who's bands are the same as AT&T, so the EVO 3D is not an option.
Seeing as the Nexus S is such a darn good deal at 425$, I think I'm gonna go pick one up today. I can always sell it and upgrade if absolutely necessary.

[Q] Which HTC?

So yeah, most of you would say HTC One X or something to that effect.... but I don't have the money.
Anyway, which of these 2 HTC phones is better? The Inspire 4G or the Desire HD? I know, they're similar phones. But according to my knowledge, the Inspire has better specs in terms of S-LCD and larger memory which is basically it. But, is there any other reasons why I'd pick one over the other? The Inspire is about $30 cheaper. However, it has come to my attention that the Desire HD will be receiving official ICS upgrade, if not already has.
I am a die hard Sense fanboy so really, I'd like to play around with sense 4.0 I may go over to AOSP ICS after a few months.... or even MIUI since I find the beta version on my LG Optimus One pretty awesome
So my question really, is there any way the Inspire will get Sense 4? Are roms for the Desire HD compatible with the Inspire 4G?
Is it worth me spending $30 more to get a device with Sense (seeing as I'm a die hard Sense fan ). So yeah, which is better for me?
Side question...... Motorola Atrix or the DHD/Inspire?
Also, feel free to recommend (or even send me a phone ) other phones which are not too expensive. I'd really like a phone that has ICS (official or unofficial), preferably with a secondary camera also. Sense..... doesn't really matter I think, seeing as to how I lived with my O1 for 2 years
