Liquid ICS install instructions fo Thunderbolt - Thunderbolt General

I read about the latest Liquid ICS for the T-bolt. I have been using my T-bolt since it was first released and have never rooted or learned how to. I cam over from the Blackberry world from about 6 years of use with BB. Anyway I have done a lot of "rooting" style things on BB's but not on Android. I have looked around here on XDA to find specific instruction to install/root with Liquid ICS but have found MANY root methods and would like to be 100% sure I am following the correct ones..... Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Depends... you want easy no flaming learning curve go to rootzwiki HTC forum. You want a fast , flameful, learn on your own learning curve stick here; HTC forum. Everything u need is there just at different speeds. Lol!

Honestly, I used the all-in-one ThunderBolt Tool. Worked like a charm.

There shouldn't be a learning curve if you use the HTC allinone tool.

Yeah, use the all in one by trter10.
It's even got an unrooting option if you ever need it. Keep it saved for later use.
Be sure to thank him on his post.

I know you're new so I won't be mean but if you'll look around, there are plenty of threads like this. Also, to echo jburnette, just root and you'll have Gingerbread.
See my sig for a GREAT rom to go to.
Questions like this would be better asked to htc/verizon (verizon does have an android forum btw). The only people at this point that might care about an ota are unrooted users which still baffle me as to why they ask such questions on a forum about rooting/bleeding edge/non-oem development. It's sort of like going on a linux forum and asking if when the next version of windows will come out. But if you're looking to root and get GB now, then you asked the right question, just worded in a way that could have been better
Thanks for news

Wow couple months away. I guess once we get the GB update thats it.
Yeah who knows. It is Verizon we are talking about after all lol. I'm on GB right now. The only reason I want the ota to come out is so the develepers can have a bit if a more stable base (maybe, the newest leak is much more stable than the alpha that was leaked)

Kinda figured this would happen. Now if HTC was a decent company they would still release their source...but we all know they wont.
Im not all expecting to see an official release but that site is about the most vague pile of crap ever. I cant help but doubt the validity of anything posted there.

I never really expected this to happen after observing all the work from the devs on it. ICS has always ran kinda wishy washy for me. I mean it works and all, but there are definitely some performance issues and bugs no matter which rom you use. Verizon nor HTC intends to release a shoddy product. It either has to work 100% or not at all. If ICS cant run as well as GB did, then it aint gonna happen.
I wish I had a dollar for all the false rumors that have been posted about ICS, I'd buy Verizon and have enough left over to keep me in booze and hookers for the rest of my life!
I think this is one more dollar in my stash....

If that were the case though, the thunderbolt would've ran well from launch day, which anyone who had one since then will say that it didn't. Originally the battery life was horrendous and had to be fixed by an OTA.

NO ICS
just called HTC ,,, and they told me , that we are not getting ics,,, htc thunderbolt is discontinued,,,, :crying:

We could call and email different reps at HTC and we would get a slew of different responses from them all. Stuff like this no one will know the correct answer as tech support as we all know is the last to know.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using Tapatalk 2
So let's see if I understand this... the OFFICIAL WORD from Verizon AND from HTC is that the Thunderbolt will or will not get ICS and will get it within the next two days or later than that or never.
Does that about cover it? <G>
Honestly, I don't see what all the flap is about? ICS doesn't offer anything I need or want other than (I HOPE!) a better kernel for the Devs to work with.
Meanwhile, NuSense works for me and the BAMF leak works for me if I want ICS and, if I want Gingerbread, Infected ROM works for me and Thunderstick BB works for me along with a bunch of other ROMs I've tried.
Was at Verizon today, Reps informed me there will be no ICS for our phones...Cant say I'm surprised...my upgrade is in January, not going to worry about it .. Can't believe they state we would get the upgrade, then renege ..
If Apple can upgrade their older model Iphones for several years , why can' t our Android phones do the same.. and no I'm not switching..

Looks great but I wouldn't count on running that on a thunderbolt....ever.
They've tried this before with Ubuntu for Android. It never got off the ground. They intended on dual booting Ubuntu on dual core gingerbread class phones but it never happened. There was supposed to be a dock that your phone went into and booted Linux on a monitor so it was like having a phone and computer at the same time. I like the idea of having full Linux support though. It will be interesting to see if calling through Ubuntu will be supported.

No <3 for Windows 8

I was given an HTC Thunderbolt from a friend. She's finally just gotten tired of the Sense BS and how screwed up this phone is as it comes from the manufacturer. I figured, being the tech savvy fellow I am, that I'd root it, unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM, probably Cyanogenmod as I love their work. .....no dice. I have Windows 8 on a laptop that was given to me by my wife after my Linux machine went to the big computer shop in the sky. After hours of fruitless searches and downloads I broke down and called HTC. What do they tell me? There isn't a driver out there to make Win8 recognize my device. I tried HTC Sync, PDA Net and a million other options.....no dice. I've searched these forums inside and out, I know the rules, I abide by them to the T. But still, no dice. SO I ask the question that I can't seem to find an answer to, has anyone had any luck getting their Thunderbolt recognized in Win8? If so please tell me how.:good:
Your best bet would be to install Windows 7 or use a friend's computer.

My guess is you do not have the proper usb cable with the data pin in it.
Seeing how you got it second hand, that's my guess as I don't know what cable you have and you didn't mention trying several.
May wanna see about picking one up to eliminate that as the issue, if you haven't explored this already.

So I tried and tried everything with this thunderbolt. Finally I gave up on Windows 8, which I think Windows has too, and dug out my daughters Acer Aspire One and installed Windows 7. Wouldn't ya know it, all went well. Actually all went well with Windows 8 but I must have gotten a bad download when I obtained the RUU to downgrade to Gingerbread. Or maybe it was an operator error, around here there seems to be quite a few. Anyway, I am rooted with S-OFF so let the Flashing commence. I'm gonna look for a CM10 rom, wish me luck. Thank to all that helped, especially the fella who told me to switch cords, always a good idea when having problems.

one Click root?

Just curious if sometime in the future there will be a one click root for the maxx/mini/ultra/ moto x? I spent 4 hours in hell trying to get my Maxx rooted, finally succeeded but after all that it makes you really appreciate the work developers put into the exploits. I am assuming since the phones are so new, that it will be a while. I was more just curious if it was POSSIBLE than asking for a time frame of when to expect one.
No, unless someone puts together a very BIG utility.
fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.
I would say with 99.999999999% confidence there will NEVER be a 1click root solution for the new Droid line...

I doubt we will ever see a one click again let alone another ROOT method since jcase announced he was done creating, but if we do. I personally hope for more methods that involve user interaction as I've learned ALOT this way.
