Help!
Ive got a samsung galaxy s2 - originally it was on the UK Orange network, but since then I have flashed it with a different European firmware (unsure which one).
The screen has cracked therefore I can not use the touch screen at all.
I can not see anything on the screen except the battery level.
I need to take the data off it (pictures, vdeos etc.) which are stored on the phones internal memory.
When I connect it to my windows xp PC, it comes up in My Computer but when I try opening it it shows nothing.
I think this is because I need to unlock the screen (4 digit pin).
When I connect it to Kies, it says I need to enter the screen unlock code - But I can not due to the screen being cracked.
Only the hardware buttons work.
Is there a way I can connect the phone to my PC and get the data off?
I need somesort of app that will allow me to mimic/display the phone screen on my PC so that I can enter this screen unlock code to get into the phone.
Or can I do a refresh (restore factory setting/clear operating system) at boot up so that when it does eventually boot up into the welcome/set up screens, I can connect it to my PC to transfer the data off?
Can someone please help?
The is the Galaxy S 3 forums man, try the Galaxy S 2 threads.

Go to google play on your PC. Log into the google account for that phone. Install "Android Lost" from the market and download your data with it. It's a beta test program but it's free. If it doesn't work you only lost time.
When installed you got to androidlost.com to use it's tools such as wiping the data, or backing it up. I've used it to find phone location, make the phone talk, and take pics from the cameras (in case it's stolen). But I've never tested wiping or backing up data.

I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 that now has a bad digitizer, and I am unable to use any touch-required functions. I only wish to retrieve the contacts from the phone in a way that I can get them on a new phone, even if it just means re-entering them into a new device. I just do not have any back up of the contacts, and need to be able to access the list on the phone.
I cannot "slide to unlock", so I am unable to navigate the phone or install anything on the phone. When I connect to my PC with an SD card it will connect in Mass Storage mode, and I can access the SD card only (not the phone system files). If I remove the SD card, and attempt to connect with ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center I am prompted to enter my screen lock code on the phone - which I cannot do because the digitizer is broken. I do know the lock code, if there is any way to enter it without using the touch screen.
I have been searching around quite a bit, and I found a program called MyMobiler that looks like it would work, if I could get past the lock code. I have also downloaded the Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys, which also is unable to connect to the phone until I can enter the screen lock code.
Just to clarify, I have thoroughly read over this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852189#9434585
Is there ANY way that I can get access to the phone long enough to even just physically read and re-enter my contacts? Being able to import them would be nice, but I just don't have any backup whatsoever. Thanks for your help.
****UPDATE****
Solution: By pressing 911 on the keyboard, the phone assumed I was trying to make an emergency phone call and brought up the pin pad. I backspaced the 911, and typed in my unlock code. Now I am into the phone, and I can use the keyboard to navigate, and I can transfer the contacts to the computer. So glad I figured this out, and I didn't need to pay anyone to fix it for me. Good luck to anyone with the same problem.
Accidentally dropped my phone the other day, screen is cracked and now I can't unlock the phone because of the pattern lock. Now, when I plug my phone to the PC nothing happens because the phone must be set to allow the PC to read the contents.. but since I can't unlock the phone to change that setting, I can't do anything atm. All data is in the internal memory of the phone, so no sdcard. (I regret I had it this way)
Is there maybe a software that can do this?
Phone is ZTE Max aka Boost Max.

you can connect a otg cable and mouse to your phone and use the mose to draw your unlock pattern.
I'll try here because this came up in a search.
I dropped my LG G2 and cracked the screen so that I only have a very small area where I can get some reaction. Not enough to swipe over the screen to unlock it. I keep getting the LG notification that my screen is damaged and offering to allow me to control it through the hardware keys, but it won't accept those commands either. And now, when I plug it in to try to get my data off the phone, it's stuck on charge only, so I can't transfer anything.
Any ideas? All I really want are a few pictures from this past weekend. Everything else is backed up in DropBox.
I don't know what an OTG cable is and I don't think that I even have a mouse anymore.
Thanks.
i unfortunately broke my screen the other night and was wondering if it was possible to still get my files and messages off of it:
-verizon if it matters
-maybe 2% of the screen flashes
-i have a fingerprint unlock
-it has never been off since this happened
here is what ive tried:
-installed samsung smart switch but it will not recognize phone since it is not in file transfer mode (cannot do this because of broken screen)
-hooked up an old monoprice micro hdmi adapter to try a second screen but it does not seem to work (perhaps user error)
-got on android device manager and thought i could unlock it but it only seems to lock...changed password but it said something about already having a lock on there so not sure
any other options or info on what i am doing wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated...tia!
Should be able to get your files from it just by connecting it to USB on the PC
By default it should open as a storage drive as long as the phone is unlocked
For messages, if you didn't disable Samsung cloud backup/sync, they should be in your samsung cloud account
Hello,
my phone fell to the ground, the screen went blue, then black. I can't see anything. It had stock ROM on it, I never updated the firmware nor tried to root it. Thing is, I would like to access the phone to recover pics, contacts, and so on. I had enabled the USB debug mode a while ago to transfer data to the computer. However, when I plug it in to my computer now, I can't access the phone because I had the fingerprint lock on, and when you reboot you can't use the fingerprint as you need to first use the backup password. But I can't type the password because the screen is completely black. So I'm stuck there!
I can get to download mode, and Odin does recognize the phone. If I were to use Samsung's newest firmware, would that solve the issue? I'm thinking here that updating to the newest firmware would mean I wouldn't have to type the password to get in, but I really have no idea.
There are few programs out there that claim that you can actually bypass the lock screen, but they do not support the G920V as of now.
Any tips would be much appreciated!
Perhaps attempt using an USB OTG adapter with a keyboard. It may take a couple attempts, but should work to get the password in.
Today my phone felt down totally flat. The screen hits the floor directly.
It carries a protector above the screen, and apparently it is the only part that broke down
The screen seems to be in perfect status.
But the problem is screen is not working. None light is shown, and no reaction is performed.
If I touch the power button during 20s, the phone vibrates and it seems to be restarted.
When I connect the charger, the led works fine. Although no sound is played.
I would like to repair the phone, but at least (and this is important) I need to download all the data to the PC.
Question: is there any way to access to the data in the phone without having the screen available?
PHONE: MI9
OS: MIUI12.5

If you did not USB debugging enabled in system settings before the screen broke, you will not be able retrieve your data. Now that your screen is broken, there is no way for you to enable USB debugging in order to retrieve your data.
Your options are:
1) repair the screen so you can retrieve your data.
2) forget about your data and get a new device.
Live and learn. I keep USB debugging enabled on all my devices for this very reason.
I found that I can retrieved my data thanks to custom recovery. I had a bit of lucky because with adb, data can be retrieved trhough custom recovery.
Usually, I have USB debugging activated but this time it was not activated as from last ROM update it is deactivated by default.
Now, I will deassembly the phone just to understand which is the root cause as touch sensor is working fine. So I need to understand if the problem comes from the screen or in the worst-case from connectors or PCB. In this last case I would need to get a new device, and I would like to keep this one for a few more time, even when there is no more OS update.

I was going to suggest that but wasn't sure you would actually be able to install it or even if a custom recovery existed for your device since you didn't post what model you have. Also, if you had needed to unlock your bootloader to flash a custom recovery, unlocking the bootloader would have wiped your data.
Yes, you were lucky, most users in this condition are screwed out of recovering their data.
