Ok, so on my iPhone and Evo Shift...my download speeds are about .15-.55 (peak) down and .15-.25 up....but on my MoPhoQ LTE I get .75 to 1.4 down and .50 to 1 up....I think this is strange but my MoPhoQ says its connected to EvDo-rev.A:8.....not that I'm complaining about the higher speeds but it seems strange that its doing this...anyone experiencing this too?

Not saying this is absolutely the reason, but its possible it could be just a coincidental timing thing....looks like Syracuse area at least has had some data speed/capacity upgrades in the last few months and more slated to come (note that this isn't Network Vision, or at least its not supposed to be, as I've read numerous places that the network.sprint.com site does not show the results of that work:
https://network.sprint.com/NY/Syracuse
Now, if your other phones are still active and you still get the results you mentioned on them, then the only other thing I can think of is simply that Motorola's phone radio is better than what's in your other 2 phones. I've also read that Moto tends to have better radio's in their phones.

I'm actually in the Rochester Area but their server here sucks so I use the Syracuse server....anywhoo thats what I'm going to base it on...my Evo Shift is active and at the same time got .4 down when my MoPhoQ got 1 down...weird
Edit: not in Rochester area, Avon to be exact...but we don't have any past data upgrades / future upgrades so...it all seems kinda weird to me
Chalk it up to a better radio and enjoy your new phone
Yeah speeds are pretty nice on mine. Test the iPhone 4S(Sprint) with latest updates vs my Q on mobilespeedtest.com using stock browsers and Photon Q came literally 2x+ the speed each time in the same spot and 15 seconds downtime between testing.
Getting 210kbps on forced 1xRTT at my University, I do have data/call roaming enabled but I don't see the triangle.
Does anyone who switched from the Epic 4G qwerty (i.e. not Touch) have any experience feedback to share regarding any general signal improvement in areas or buildings where they typically had issues yo-yo-ing between Sprint and Verizon roaming previously?
If Roam Control doesn't yet work on this phone (which thus far I've not seen anyone but one person state so hard to confirm as an across-the-board universally accepted issue thus far), then I'd be keenly curious to hear if anyone has experienced any positive differences in such situations coming from the original Epic to the Q.

I've never paid much mind to if it was roaming but both in my home and at work where the epic would struggle with 1/2 bars (I know the bars are a bad indicator) the photon q has three out of six at home and five out of six at work. Even works in the depths of walmart where my epic just flat out refused!
Thanks KP....the whole issue for me and what's keeping me on the edge from switching yet is either this or the ability to use Roam Control. The building I work in is horrible for cell signal at least on my Epic, I'm lucky to get 2 bars at best and left to its own vices, I'd constantly switch between Sprint and Verizon all day with even Verizon never getting beyond 3 bars.
It also probably doesn't help that I sit right on the other side of the wall from the networking/patch panel room. My coworker is on Verizon by default and has a Bionic and sits next to me though and doesn't seem to have the issues I do, which leans me towards thinking Moto's radios really are that much better in general as I've read elsewhere.
Anyone else with experience to share on the above, please do! :good:
I think you have a 14 day return window with Sprint. If you don't get much feedback, give the phone a shot and see how it works
Yeah, but do they revert you back out of the 2 year contract extension/renewal if you return it in a case like that? Because if they don't, that wouldn't be my first choice in terms of how to proceed...granted, right now as I type today, I plan to stick with Sprint, but if it didn't work out to my satisfaction and I ended up returning the phone, I'd prefer to keep my options open still.

If I read this correctly it looks like they revert everything back to how it was. Perhaps unless you have/had sero?
Return and Reactivate an old device
Are you an existing customer who recently upgraded to a new device with a new contract term, and want to go back to an old device and prior contract status? No problem, you can select the best plan for you from our current price plan options (your previous service plan may no longer be available to you) and return the new device for a full refund. The same return process and requirements for new customers apply. We will remove any credits or discounts received in exchange for your new contract term and restore you to your previous contract term and service plan (if available).
Also, I thought Sprint's return policy was 30 days? Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Thanks a ton for linking that KP, I'd have never thought they'd let you revert back to your old contract status (I still have about 4 months left on mine). Now the only question I'd need to find the answer to is, if I purchase through Sams Club at the just under $75 price, would I have to return it and get that done there, or could I do so at my local Sprint store?
The closest Sams that carries Sprint phones to me is in Nashville an hour away and I just happen to be heading there this weekend doing some OT work, but I'd hate to make a trip all the way back there to return if it didn't work like I need.
http://shop2.sprint.com/en/shop/why_sprint/guarantee/exchanges.html
Equipment or accessories purchased from a 3rd-party dealer, such as Radio Shack, Best Buy, Wal-Mart or other Sprint-authorized retailers, including online retailers, should be returned to the original point of purchase. These 3rd-party dealer or retailer returns are subject to the 3rd-party's return policy.
Sams Club

RETURN POLICY
This purchase does not qualify for in-store returns.
If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, and it is in its original new condition, simply call us within 14 days of the activation or process date shown on your sales receipt to obtain a Return Authorization Number (RA number) and ensure that your phone is returned to our distribution center within 7 days of receiving your RA number. If you activated service on your device, it is your responsibility to cancel service with your carrier within 14 days of your activation date. All carriers offer a 14 day Satisfaction Period and any request to cancel service with a carrier must be made within that 14 day period to avoid Early Termination Fees.
So you would have to call Sprint and tell them to revert and call sams club, doesn't look like you have to return to the store.

hi guys
i bought a nexus s but the order was canceled and now i have to wait a couple of weeks for a refund
and then this showed up
gizmodo(DOT)com/5750750/leak-htc-pyramid-sounds-like-a-big-un-with-dual+core-processor-and-43+inch-qhd-display
now when i wanted to buy a phone the most important thing to me is " future proof" in terms of updates from google , Cyanogenmod etc
since this thing " might " be a dual core it will be supported for a very long time in terms of keeping up with new OSes
anyway im sure this phone will be CDMA so how long does a HTC phone take until they make one in a GSM flavor ?
The device is on TMobile, so it will be GSM, AFAIK.
As for support.. It is HTC, so it will be supported on XDA-dev, I have no doubt in my mind And I don't think HTC will go the Moto-way of getting in the way of rooting and such.
I hope the bands are compatible with Rogers Canada!!

The sourced article has all the juicy details:
http://androidandme.com/2011/02/unc...pyramid-superphone-coming-to-t-mobile-by-may/
I'm all set to get this, assuming it has MicroSD. (Or better .) I'm a little disappointed that the HSPA+ is limited to 14 Mbps downloads. I hope the T-Mobile USA version can at minimum take full advantage of their 21Mbps download HSPA+. Even better if it can handle future speeds like 41Mbps too .
It has enough features to be a nice upgrade from my HD2. We'll see if the Pyramid turns out to be as flexible. I may wait a month or more after it's release, to see if it can be easily rooted and custom ROMs made for it. If HTC makes it too hard to hack, I may pass. (It's got to at least be hackable for custom Android ROMs.)
The Androidandme article mentions the Pyramid will probably get to other carriers in time. Good to see that maybe a US carrier will get a sweet new HTC phone first for a change . We had to wait months for the HD2 while folks elsewhere enjoyed it first .
Pyramid = Winner!
im sure it will be eisely hackable

Guys,
How's T-mobile with throttling? What are their caps? Im thinking of leaving Sprint if they don't release something worth getting soon.

from what i read
T-MOBILE
you get 3G speeds
and after you reach 5GB they stated
"No overages! (After 5 GB, data speeds may be reduced)"
how much its reduced you have to check your self
and one more thing you can share your internet to devices around you
This would make me think about leaving sprint for this.

I am with T-Mobile USA now and left Sprint back in March of 2010 for the T-Mobile HTC HD2.
The data works like this, you get up to 5GB/month, just like Sprint. But once you reach the limit, T-Mobile "throttles" your speed rather than totally turning it off as Sprint does. The throttling is not something I've ever experienced, but I've heard it's so slow that it makes the data practically useless till the month is over and they reset your allowance of data automatically that next month. I've also heard, that people who were throttled were able to go to a different town and get fast data speeds again within the same month. So the throttling might be location based for a certain cell tower or something.
Also, T-Mobile does not "support" tethering unless you pay a special tethering fee, which is $15/month. That means, you get no support from T-Mobile in trying to do it unless you pay, but there are plenty of people who don't pay the fee and successfully tether. If you're going to tether without paying that fee, you'd want to be very light on your usage, so you don't get busted. Similar to with Sprint.
Qwerty warrior, the plan you linked to is not the cell phone data plan, that's the plan for laptop USB sticks. The "contract" cell phone plans are listed here. T-Mobile does have non-contract cell phone plans, that are cheaper than the contract plans, but they don't display anything about those on the web site, you'd have to actually speak with a T-Mobile rep about those. T-Mobile tries hard to avoid anyone buying the non-contract plans, but they do exists.
And in T-Mobile 3G, you can do simultaneous voice + data, which on Sprint you can only do in "4G". With T-Mobile, you can do it on both 3G and "4G".
I also recall with Sprint there was an issue with conferencing multiple callers via a device, I don't know if that's still an issue with Sprint, but I know it's not an issue at all with T-Mobile.
And one debated issue, that I know is a fact. GSM devices don't burn through battery as quickly as CDMA devices. You'll get better bettery life on T-Mobile than the same device on Sprint's network. (Of course you can't use the exact '"same" device on both networks, but I'm saying the same model of device.)
oops wrong forum
They admit their data could be flawed, but phoneArena.com has tossed up a full spec sheet .

Thanks for the info guys,
So, after researching I see that they throttle anyone going over 5gb a month. Sprint may advertise a cap, but they never enforce it. I have gone over many times but have never received a letter.
Tmobile is definitely stricter than Sprint with their data..
Let's see what Sprint releases in the near future. Im up for an upgrade and my contract is completely up in October. Ill pay the penalty if I have to since it's pro-rated at ten dollars a month. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
I want it.

Oh, Sprint does enforce theirs. They may not have gotten you (yet), but there are plenty of people, even a personal friend of mine who were busted by Sprint. Had their data shut down, got a letter and didn't get it back till later.
And with T-Mobile, there are likewise people who claim they didn't get busted yet.
Bottom line is, they all enforce and just because they didn't catch you yet don't assume they never will.
The Pyramid will be my next device is the rumored specs are true.
I posted this in the general Q&A but got no opinions. Maybe you guys can lend some unbiased help.
So I've gotten myself into a pickle. Let me start this by saying that staying on AT&T is not an option for personal reasons.
Current situation: HTC Inspire 4G with an unlimited data plan on AT&T.
Living in NY metro area with great coverage.
Got the green light from AT&T to cancel my contract with no ETF if I want.
Hopes & Dreams: Have a great phone on a future-proof network (LTE for example) while guaranteeing myself unlimited data.
Obviously I have a lot to weigh here:
AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile.
I feel like this is pure bad news if I were to stay with AT&T or switch to T-Mobile. If I stay AT&T, prices are sure to go up, and sure I keep my unlimited data, but the network is going nowhere fast. 4G is bull****. 3.5G at best. All in all, the real innovation and envelope pushing just isn't happening here.
Verizon's LTE & Tiered Data.
From what I hear, the speeds are gorgeous. I checked and I'm in a hot coverage area. But I also hear indoor coverage sucks, and the LTE > 3G handoff is sloppy and leads to service drops.
Then there's the tiered data. I'm sure if I were to wait too long, I'll miss the boat on unlimited LTE data. Hence the reason I feel I need to make a move soon.
Sprint.
Short & sweet: Is the 4G good? Phone selection ramping up any time soon? What's hot now? The Pre 3 looks amazing, but if it'll be on Verizon, I'm not sure what Sprint may have to lure me in.
MetroPCS.
Just kidding
Anyway, any and all input is appreciated. I'm just not sure where to go and how.
Keep in mind I need to do the carrier change by May 4th.
Thanks!
Sprint 4g is about as fast as my current att phone 300kb/s to 600kb/s at best but indoor penetration well there is none

That is quite a predicament.
I don't know too much, but I'll see if anything I do know helps:
My friend is on Sprint 4G (with the Evo) and his speeds are about what mine are (avg ~2.1 mbps down) in the middle of Indiana, so that says something.
I'm really not a fan of Verizon. Sure their service coverage is better but customer service is just as bad as AT&T and you can't use data and voice at the same time (something I depend on)
Just my input, hope it helps.
Go with Verizon you can use data and voice at the same time at least on the Thunderbolt
Edit: My speed test

I have three friends who purchased the Thunderbolts the day they came out. Two love it, the other hated it and returned it within a week because the battery sucked and it was "buggy". The one that returned it is longtime android users so it wasn't android that was the problem. I personally think the phone is awesome, and you can get a goofy looking extended battery so if the only concern is battery life it isn't really a problem. I am in San Diego and the down and up speeds are literally in the 20mb range every time they speed test those things, makes the 3mb down on the Inspire look pretty shabby.
If I did not have 4 phones all with data plans at varying stages of renewal on my contract I would probably make the switch.
My only question is how in the heck did you get out of your contract?!?!?!
Funny that I see this. I'm more or less in a similar situation. I recently renewed from an out-of-contract state and got the Inspire, but I'm still within my return window.
First, let me say that there's no such thing as a "future-proof" network. Remember that commercial with Ozzy and Justin Bieber? It's only a matter of time before someone comes up with a 5G, then a 6G... and so on.
Furthermore, I just found out there is no industry standard for what constitutes a 'G' anyway. So it gets down to throughput, and how much of it you need for what you do. After that is price and hardware, not necessarily in that order.
I think it all depends on what you need the most. I agree that Verizon's speeds are screaming where you have good signal. But I read an analysis which said that on average AT&T's network is faster in the majority of areas. IOW, if you travel outsize a Verizon 'hot zone', their speed is on a par with, and in some cases slower than, AT&T. So where Verizon has them beat in 'hot spots', overall in daily use for those of us who travel around (or live in a more rural area), AT&T might be the better choice.
Don't kid yourself. Verizon isn't exactly looking to rock the boat pushing bleeding edge technology either. they're not inclined to invest money that they don't have to, or create more customer service issues than they already have. So that "future proof" network you're looking for won't be found at Verizon any more than you'll find it at AT&T.
I have no comment about Sprint or MPCS other than the fact that having traveled all over the country for business over the years, AT&T had the most consistent service for voice (which is my primary need) than even Verizon. Besides, it seems you already answered your own question regarding Sprint or MPCS. If you plan on venturing outside an urbanized inner-city area, you're pretty much screwed. After all... hellooooo... it's METRO pcs, not Pocono pcs.
Let me share with you what I'm inclined to do.
I love the Inspire, but when I saw the HTC Sensation is coming to Tmo, I had a moment of pause (as you did) and thought to return it and wait. But as you noted, with AT&T buying Tmo, there's a lot of 'if' on that plan to jump ship, since there's no saying when the two companies merge that I won't be forced into another phone. Or that the Sensation will get 4G speeds when the networks converge. Or that the bootloader will be cracked so I can install an unbranded ROM. Or that you will be able to use the Tmo phone on the merged network... lots of variables there.
If there's a reason why you just can't stay with AT&T and the Inspire, then I'd say Verizon is your next best choice. But given the Thunderbolt is nearly identical to the Inspire, and Verizon is more expensive for buying the phone ($175 vs. $50), it's your choice on whether the enhanced (but not always faster in all cases and in all places) data speed is worthwhile.
And of course we all need to remember that a contract is only 24 months. It goes quick. Not like it's a tattoo where you're living with it for the rest of your life.
Hope this helps...
Does anyone know how their upgrade transfer work? I just ordered a TB on Amazon with a line that is eligible for upgrade and I'm planning on switching the phone to my primary line.
I just got off the phone with one of their reps (Amznwireless) and I'm being told I can't do that or I'll be charged the full amount on the phone.
I've read else where people had no problem with transferring their upgrades simply by activating and then reactivating it on another line from an upgrade done by Amzn. I know Verizon allows you to do this.
Anyone else has issues with this? I can't seem to Google a direct answer. Also all my lines feature a data plan so I don't intend on canceling that to begin with.
I think your Better off doing This straight from Verizon. Amazon Probably just not willing to transfer upgrades. If you buy the Thunderbolt 4g on another line ten Transfer it over from that line to yours Then you Might have to pay for activating 4g on both lines and your gonna probably need another sim card. Sounds like a Hassle so try talkin to a Verizon Rep About it.

When you get the phone, DO NOT activate it on your own. Instead call verizon and tell them which line you want it activated on. They will do it.

Seems a bit dumb of me, but just making sure. So I can just call Verizon as soon as I receive the phone and have them activate it on the line I want? They'll take care of the upgrade transfer internally from what i understand? The problem I have is the AmazonWireless rep told me that if I didn't activate the phone on the line I used to upgrade with then I would face a penalty charge.

Hmm unless amazon has something I'm no aware of shouldn't be a problem. Heard some rip you off if you return the phone but never heard about a certain tn charge. Of course rwad your agreement with amazon but if it does not spell out it has to be that tn, verizon won't give you a problem.
You can't switch it from lines with amazon. You will be charged full price. There's an article somewhere on it
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
i've actually heard that you need to keep the phone on the line that you bought it on for at least 6 months, or they will charge you another 250 or more. idk why they do this, but i believe both amazon and wirefly do this. i wouldnt take the chance of switching until you call and make sure u can do it with amazon. if they say the same thing, i wouldn't do it.
The problem is each Amazon rep says something different. According to their terms and condition:
If you do not activate or extend a line of service in connection with this device, or if your service is canceled/disconnected before 181 consecutive days, AmazonWireless.com will charge you $250 per device, plus applicable taxes.
Technically they say I can, but I've been calling them a few times and either they're not understanding my question or they don't understand their terms and condition. Issue is I don't want them to charge the penalty because from what I've read it's a pain in the ass.
I'm just looking for people whose done an upgrade on Amazon Wireless, and switched the phone to another line on their family plan. I just want to know what their process is. One rep is telling me I can activate it on the line I used to upgrade with and then activate the phone on the line I want to use it the phone. Another rep says it's against their policy to activate the phone on another line (although I don't understand if she meant that I can't just directly activate the phone on another line or I can't activate with my upgrade line and then transfer the phone to another. She didn't specify).
My intentions aren't to cancel or remove data from my plan or cancel the line, all my lines feature a data plan to begin with.
I appreciated the help, I should get the phone tomorrow or Wednesday. So if there's no direct answer, I'll just wing it and let you guys know whats up. I'm thinking if they charge me the penalty, I'll just return the phone.

I did this on launch day, when I finally received it the following monday it was quite a hassle to get it over to my number, but what I tell you should bring that down to a minimum.
Once you recieve the phone, dont even turn it on, or take the sim from its packaging. Instead take everything with you to a business (or is it enterprise?) verizon wireless location. Tell them you bought it online and that the sim you have is programmed for another line but you need to switch it, they should just pull out a new sim, program it in the back and put it in your phone, then your done and good to go.
That took me about 4 and a half hours because the first location i went to tried to change it electronically, didnt work, called customer service with them, still nothing, they then called tech support (by this time there were two in store, one from customer service and one from tech all helping me and trying to figure it out at the same time), nothing, so the tech support gal suggested getting a new sim, but the location I was at was out of them because they werent the bigger business location (or w/e its called).
So I drove to the closest business location, explained what I had been through, the guy asked for my number, went to the back and pulled out a newly programmed sim and viola
Yep! the key here is don't even deal with amazon. just go to verizon. verizon don't care which line you put it on they are still getting their money. No reason for verizon to report to amazon a cancel.

exactly nothing there indicates you don't use it on another line. again just deal with verizon and forget amazon at this point.
Alright so what I did was took the phone to a Verizon store and had them activate it on the line I want as soon as I got the phone (didn't activate it as stated in previous post). Now my issue on Amazon is this: "Carrier status: Service Activation Pending".
A little confuse as to what it should say when the phone is activated.

As far as what is showing up on amazons site it might just take same time to update.

I think I should've turned it on first, then took it to VZ to switch line. Ah well, I'll give them a call tomorrow to see what's up. Hopefully I won't have to return it and redo the process. I like it so far.

It should still show its activated. Wait a little longer. Besides you can always switch it to the other number, then switch back if you needed to.
You can do it over the phone with Verizon tech support . DO NOT boot up your phone until they tell you line has been switched. No need for new sim. I did this and it worked fine. What Amazon is talking about is that you can have NO downgrades on that line you bought it for during the first 6 months ie don't order a data package and then cancel it when you change lines. The phones I was switching both had data packages anyway so I never had this problem.
They already switched it at the Verizon store. Or at least that's what I assume they did. The rep that did it wasn't very bright. Unfortunately it may seem that she did something else since its not showing its activated on my amazon account. My lines have data to begin with so the lines no gonna remove it after the upgrade. I might just call Amazon tomorrow and see why I still have the pending message.

For those of you who don't like shelling out the gobs of cash to AT&T...I have the link for you!
http://www.straighttalksim.com/
I received my AT&T sim in the mail from Straight Talk along with the new APN information...and voila...I'm getting the same (if not faster) download speeds than I was with AT&T. Actually, I've been strangely getting more bars than I was w/AT&T. Not sure why...since it's the same network. Anyways...this transformed my bill from $130 per month to $45 per month for unlimited talk, text and web. I don't work for Walmart or anything...I just wanted to share some savings info with those who are interested! When they say on the website "cut your phone bill in half" they're not kidding! I wonder how Wally World can get away with sending AT&T roms...offer the same service...for half the cost? I dunno...but I'm not complaining!
Now...I doubt you'd get 4G speeds....but I've never truly had 4G speeds...so I'm not missing anything.
Thinking about doing this just to activate the inspire I have laying around with a cracked screen. Its between this, and redpocket

I did this last month. Best decision I ever made. The only catch I've found is that the data isn't really unlimited, it's a use it but don't abuse it policy. I believe they will throttle you if you hog too much.
What radio are you using? I think I need a new one, mine keeps switching between 3G and H.
Been thinking of doing the same thing as soon as my contract is up.. Any activation fees or anything like that? What'd they charge for the sim?

I have been using Straight Talk for 6months with a sim card from a Nokia E71. This is known as the old sim swap method. Works great roams and all. From everything I've researched this uses the AT&T postpaid network.
The new sim card program they have charges you $14.95 for the sim card, and they had free shipping. NO activation fees or anything else.
This is the best data speed I've gotten though it's not usually this good. I'm using the 12.56.60.25P_26.10.04.03_M radio

The word is if you keep it under 2gb a month and 170mb a day you should be good. Just use 3g watchdog and monitor it. I stream stuff all the time, just be aware of how much data you are using. I've had no problems though I've never exceeded the so called limits.

WOW! That's a lot of data! I would think they will have to come up with some limits if they are going to cut off service because you are using too much so called "unlimited" data. Guess we'll have to wait and see once this thing gets going full bore. If you can keep your usage to 2gb a month and 170mb a day then this is a great deal! If not I wouldn't risk it at this point..
A few months ago another carrier said unlimited data was unlimited but they could make changes if they saw fit for the network. And everyone thought it meant nothing then. Straight Talk says no media streaming and only download from their network. They could turn on you tomorrow too. I see nothing in writing about 2GB.

UR right nothing in writing about 2gb, but it has been good for me for the last 6 months. If you read the terms they say they can cut you off at anytime pretty much! You're right they could turn at any time. Guess it all depends on your situation, for me I'm willing to take the risk. lol

I looked at Straightalk, too. Wish they had a pay as you go plan, rather than monthly, with similar discount. I like options. There are several of of these non-contract companies but not much chat about them. Thanks for starting the thread, op. I have also heard similar talk about the 2Gb. cap, so that poster didn't just make it up. It might not be in writting but it seems to be what the users are experiencing.
I have decided to go Verizion as soon as my contract is up, ATT sucks. No 4G network and I cannot even get service at my house.

ATT sucks because they don't have phone service in your area? No phone carrier has service everywhere. You never should have stayed with ATT in the first place if you didn't have service. And ATT has a 4G network, at least as much as T-mobile does and as the FCC now defines it. They also have LTE which is faster than Verizon's LTE. And what does your post have to do with Straight Talk?
I too have been thinking of going to ST. I don't go over 5gb. I wonder if that is still to much for them. I don't like att as much as the next person but I do have good signal and do get 4G in my area. Has anyone found anything about the 2gb?

For the record, AT&T's is like that too. They throttle you if you're in the top 5% of data users.
Anyone here using T-Mobile? I have been using Aio Wireless, but since I generally go over 2GB I have been using the PRO option. It's $70 a month and you get only 7GB of usable data(then they throttle you so bad you can't even read an email). If i switch to T-Mobile pre-paid account(which are identical to post-paid now that they killed all contracts) I can get Unlimited LTE for the same price. So my question isn't about the network which I know varies by town, it's about the carrier in general. Do they throttle? Cap ya? On AIO for example I am hard-capped at well below what post-paid AT&T people can get. How are they on OTAs? I don't know how that works exactly with a Nexus device on a post-paid carrier I have always used an MVNO. Any insight as to how they operate and do business would be very helpful!

Well maybe.

AWESOME that's exactly what I needed to know! They just turned on LTE here in my town recently so I'll find out about the coverage. The map is telling me its wall-to-wall city wide with no blindspots. At any rate it won't hurt to check them out for a month now that I know the speeds aren't throttled and they don't yell about hotspot usage.

Go prepaid for a month. I checked their coverage map and it said the same thing about my area. Bought the N5 from them as soon as it came in. Haven't seen LTE once at my house. I called plenty of times, but no progress.
What's this about them killing contracts? I signed a 2 year plan that I'm currently trying to get out of because their service is garbage, despite what their coverage map says.

That story makes me want to do business with them. I know they had little choice in the matter, but their desperation for our business has forced them to be so nice and easy to deal with that comparing them to Big Red or Ole Blue there is just no comparison anymore. I find myself pulling for them, and who would have thought I'd ever pull for a wireless company?

While the plans are the same for pre and post paid, they are a little different in that post paid plans will take preference when there is network congestion. The T-Mobile web site tells you that. I found the download speeds were generally the same for both plans but the upload speeds were a lot faster on postpaid. The upload test on pre paid would start fast then quickly switch to a much slower speed. Not a big deal for me as I think most apps benefit from faster download speeds. No caps as far as I know.
