Here's the deal. I'm getting the 4.0.4 ota notification when I'm already on stock 4.0.4. The update is only 1mb...I left the country to go to Europe for vaca and since I was waiting for the jelly bean update I kept pressing the check for updates button ... but then the notification to update to 4.0.4 popped up. Should I install the update? Could it be some virus or some sort of mistake? Pleas help
Thanks
.
This is happening to many people with I9020A. It is not a mistake, it is not a virus. Apparently, it will ready your phone for the 4.1.1 OTA. For further reading, go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783989

I got the 4.0.4 update (1mb) also then went to Jelly Bean by doing this:
Pulling the SIM or going into airplane mode with WIFI on is best also. Make sure your wifi is a strong signal. Just reiterating what was said here a thousand times. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1736645
If you are not on stock do this.

Yeah, its just 29 mb in size. It should be fast enough.
Ics isn't available as of now. By the end of the month it should be.

There are leaked versions tho. He will get to 2.3.6 then go to a leaked one I'm guessing.

Hi everyone,
I just received an OTA update (my current version is 10.4.4.16 20120927)
I am wondering will the update break the root ?
Do we have to follow the same way to like how we update from ics to jelly bean or new method to do so ?
If it needs OTA RootKeeper, shall I make a new backup for my root or just use the backup which used by updating from ics ?
Thanks very much

I used OTA rootkeeper and temp unroot just in case. All stock apps are still there, OTA worked fine, was able to re-root again no problem.
Your question has been asked and answered about 10 times in the last week. A little effort on your part would have gotten you more information than this post.
Oh, and you are very welcome!

I did some search before I submit a new thread. What I want is just make sure I will not lose the root as worse as brick the device.
Anyway, thanks for reply again

Hi
I downloaded and installed the Nordics JB Rom (N8000XXBLK2_N8000OXXBLJ2_NEE) without any issues. I can now also search for Samsung Updates again but it only tells me that I already run the latest version (my CSC is AUT / Switzerland). I was now wondering if I could get the corresponding OTA Update that some of you got after installing the JB Rom. I think I saw in another thread that it was another 400MB or so. Is there a way to download this and flash in Mobile Odin since this tool has an OTA update file option? I am confused because these files don't seem to show up on sammobile under OTA Updates (is their list incomplete?).
Thanks for any feedback!
Sam
Till now if have not seen any OTA after the JB update, but if it says there are no more updates then your device is registering and hence you should get OTA updates as and when they are out

Yes thats what I also assumed. As I already got the JB stock firmware and flashed it with ODIN (without waiting for it to be released officially for Switzerland) I was hoping that I could do the same also with the OTA update as I assume it will also be the same for all countries (as it is already with the base firmware).
How is the "OTA updates" section on sammobile to be understood if they don't show all updates? Is it broken? Or does it now show all of them by design?
The people received the ota have mistaken flashed ics because the thread creator posted wrong ics link instead of the jellybean one and he corrected the links after that
