I wanted to know if using the splashtop HD (not sure if it comes loaded with or not) But I wanted to know if this does allow for gaming or not, just simple gaming nothing harcore.
Doesn't come loaded with SplashtopHD but MyCloud does the same thing and it's preloaded on the TF

Really, if can do the remote desktop thing so you can do basic point and click games?
Haven't tried to play any games but if it's basic point clicks should be do able if speed is not a factor.
sorry to disappoint you but clicks in games are very clunky at the best...Not sure why but my first guess would be there are some fundamental differences between inputs in windows api and DirectX api.. and in many (not all) games, a single click seems to only trigger a mouse-over event and you have to double click really fast and precisely in the same position to make it registered as a mouse click.

well for the moment it doesnt matter as I cant see my pc with it.
tried last night with Splashtop... the standard free version only lets u get 1024x768, while HD can get u 1280x720(extra 80 pixel taken by the bottom bar)
i tried launching Mass Effect from it, and it says failed, cos it doesnt support full screen application...
another thing worth mentioning is that the mouse control(or touchpad) is very awkward to use... it's the same control as android, right click = back, where the actual Windows right click = Hold Left Click..
also, the stream is rather laggy, i tried watching video on it.. it's not smooth, i guess it streams less then 24 fps then.. not yet practical, but got its potential, do hope Asus would improve it in the future

My problem is still at getting it and my pc to see each other, but last night I had some network issues. (First could ping other pc's but no one could ping me and also I didn't even show up on the router as there) But after 4 hours and such I think I just want to figure out how to get a refund from them for the HD copy I got since it just doesn't work for me.
Even after I got my PC to show up on the network and everything else, it still doesn't show up. Load it on another pc boom shows up first time.
Damn, i installed the desktop version and showed me webpage to download splashtop for android. Did this and after 5 minutes it disconnected and showed me a paid app for full functionality. I buyed this, but now after 10 days is see it is included in mycloud. So i asked for a refund and they say: too late! this can only be done in 7 days!

Welcome to the ****ed over club then, I bought the HD and normal one. One for my phone and one for my tablet, and after 5 days of fighting with it I still can't get any of them to see my PC and all they do is shout port forward like I am to stupid to have done that first. The site they have also has limited support.
The one that came with the mycloud stuff I think is the old one and HD is the newer one.
Has anyone used it to stream Netflix from their PC? Youtube seems A-ok.
Got it free with mycloud... paid for the HD version. Best RDP software I've tried and I've tried a few

I haven't tried Netflix, but I've streamed live tv from my PC with a couple of DVB-C cards. This works fine and channel changes are almost as fast as when viewed on the PC directly, so I don't see any reason why Netflix shouldn't work too.
In order to play any game you have to set it to windowed mode. I played SC2 the other night. it wasnt bad but it's hard typing and playing at the same time unless you have the dock with mouse
Splashtop HD supports full-screen, so you can run games and watch videos in full-screen now. As to why your PC isn't detected, have you tried manually adding the internal IP of your PC? Did you try setting up Static internal IP? What kind of router are you running, I know some cheap routers have issues with routing properly even with correct settings.

I've had the problem where it was working and then stopped being detected. A reboot fixed the issue but for those that did get it working and it stopped working, this is what I had to do..

Aye I did, it's a netgear one. My pc has a set internal ip of 192.168.1.100 and at first no other system could see or ping me, never needed too so the problem was never noticed. I fixed it so now I can be seen and such but the app still won't find my pc, even when I manually add it to the program.
I went to the router and already forwared the ports it needed to .100 on my end and that is the only advise they keep drolling out at me. I know this works and was livid when I installed it on a pc wired into the router and boom found it right away, I know the issue is on my pc side just not sure what.
Hi all,
It's my first time posting here.
Got my TF fro about 2 weeks now, generally quite happy with it but have some problem using splashtop as some of you here.
I wanted to use TF to control my laptop at office. I was able to control my laptop if through local network but when try to control it from outside internet, I have done all the proper portforwarding (setting port 6783~6785 linked to my laptop static IP) I always failed
My laptop connect to office router (WAG200G) through wireless though. Could that be a problem?
Thanks
I can play games with Splashtop HD and they run great (even games like Crysis2).
The only problem is that I must use the same WiFi network.
If I connect my PC from a different network, it's very slow to even just browse my PC, not to mention playing a game.
@liorry how do you connect to PC on different network?
Hey everyone just got my shield I'm very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the gamepad. So I've run into an issue when I try to stream certain games that are supposed to be supported. What will happen is I choose a game i.e borderlands 2 and my computer goes to load but it gets stuck on a screen with the shield logo and the mouse will show loading but nothing will happen however when I try to stream through steam everything works just fine thank you guys in advance for helping out

It's hard to understand what you are talking about here. If you can load through steam big picture, and it works more reliably, then just stick to using that. The individually supported games (outside of big picture mode) are a convenience in case you aren't logged in to steam, but ultimately, using Steam Big Picture on this is quick and works VERY well. Of course, there are bugs and kinks, but for BETA software, it's impressive. Occasionally, I find that the GeForce experience application will "lose" the streaming feature, and requires a computer reboot.
Also, I find it best to launch the PC streaming while in a strong wireless network environment (i.e., closer to your router), then move to a distance farther away. Launching and getting the initial sync seems to be very dependent on network strength initially...once launched, the setup seems to handle streaming glitches better.
For example, I generally have a hard time launching from my 3rd story bedroom so I move downstairs, launch, then head back up stairs and it works great. I have no idea why I can stream reliably upstairs, but often have trouble getting streaming to launch initially!
Thanks for taking time to help you seem to be picking up what I'm putting down I tried again the other day and it worked OK, the entire streaming seems a little inconsistent at times. Just out of curiosity would it be significantly more stable if the geforce PC was connected through a hard wire?
P.S I just got VPN working can't wait to try it out

Way more reliable to use an ethernet cable yes. I personally believe a person should always attempt to go ethernet first and only use WiFi for devices which are by their nature portable or if there is no way to practically route a cable there. My desktop is shamefully on wifi as I would have to run the cable through the dining room, hall, up some stairs, across a hallway and across my room. Going through walls is not so much an option in a house thought to be 150 to 200 years old, however I do have thin walls so get a great WiFi signal at least.
WiFi has significantly higher latency than a hardwired ethernet cable.
Only advantage of wifi really is the lack of a cable. Makes things quite straightforward.
every time i try to stream it kicks me off the game shortly after it starts. i have the newest update and i have the newest drivers and steam beta, i even tried the optimus fix just in case. but games just won't stay connected. my pc is hardwired(1gbps). i'm thinking its my router which is saddening because it works nearly flawless for everything else in my house(the router). its N300 and gbps wired but its not 5ghz..
First off, I get it. Chromecast is awesome and Miracast kinda sucks. I know. However, I was searching for an AIO video solution for my minivan that I could control from the 1st row (refuse to use DVDs - 2014 T&C has 1 HDMI port behind the 2nd row). My Chromecast works awesome tethered to my phone's hotspot. Other than for the first time setup, you don't even need a second device. You can cast from the device hosting the hotspot which is slick. Perfect for in-car. But I wanted to be able to cast local content so network reliability does not become and issue when traveling (Netflix, Emby, etc). Enter BubbleUPNP. Bubble will transcode on the fly (on the phone) and cast anything you have to your Chromecast (Chromecast is super limited on codecs). This was perfect for when I was in the car. But I needed a solution for my wife. Unfortunately, due to me holding on to my unlimited data on good 'ole VZW, my wife does not have native tethering enabled (iPhone - not going to JB it either). My idea was to get a deactivated phone (in this case, a Galaxy S5), enable the native hotspot, and use the Chromecast connected to wifi, but offline. Guess what Chromecast can't do...even for local content. Yeah. It needs the internet. So...
So I bought a Microsoft Wireless Adapter for Miracast. It is not too shabby actually. Hate that it mirrors everything (prefer the "cast" then use your phone normally and even turn the screen off), but it is fast and reliable. The problem was, the GS5 wouldn't connect to it (something like "failed to connect to screen mirroring"). Tried on Lollipop and Marshmallow with the same result. I found a build.prop edit that disables HDCP. This allowed it to connect with a minor exception. Netflix would not display its video (from my research, Hulu and others might be affected too). I figured this was due to the device being rooted, so I unrooted the device and re-enabled HDCP, but left everything else the same (unlocked dev bootloader, custom recovery, near-stock rom). Failed to connect. Well crap.
I finally rolled back to completely stock 5.0 (PB1) and tried again. Everything worked (including Netflix). Side-loaded the 6.0.1 update. It still worked. I'm not sure what breaks HDCP compliance, but something in the modification process does it. The good news is that since I don't need the native hotspot or any apps other than media players, I don't need root at all. I disabled all the crapware and done!
Popped in a 128GB microSD and loaded it up. Installed the newest Kodi nightly (to get the new estouchy skin for touchscreen use) and it works amazingly. Everything was named nicely already because of Emby, so once I added the TV shows and movies to libraries, Kodi pulled in all the art and metadata automatically. The only thing I don't like so far is that Kodi won't dim/shut off the phone's display like VLC does when you are mirroring (it's not really off, it just turns black). That's not a dealbreaker though, and it might be a feature that I just haven't found yet, or can add via an add-on.
Anyhow, I have no idea if this will help anyone, but I figured if I could save someone some time and a few headaches, it would be worth a quick write-up.
Note: I do have an MHL 2.0 to HDMI adapter. Mirroring a VZW GS5 with 6.0.1 works perfectly with this setup. I wanted to find a wireless solution to avoid cable clutter and potential damage to the phone's USB port.
Hey there! i was at my local store looking for a controller and came across the Steelseries Stratus Duo, i got it and brought it home hoping that it would work nicely with my phone, the exact opposite was true, i was using Bluetooth
and it had horrible lag and often times disconnected i tried to fix the lag and connection drops, nothing worked.
And sense this has no way to update firmware (at-least at the moment) on the Bluetooth side, i am not able to use it in that mode.
I have tested this on multiple devices, some carrying the bt 5.0 chip some with bt 4.2 and some with bt 4.1
the controller says it is using a Bt 4.1 chip (that's what it says on the box)
all exhibit the same issue's as noted above. most if not all are supposed to be compatible, but all of them are glitchy. with this controller.
So i was understandably disappointed, not wanting to return the controller,i tried out something, if you have ever used steam link app for android and plugged in a USB controller? if so the application will ask you if you want to use it with your device? you can choose yes or no, i tried it and was really surprised that it worked as well as it did, absolutely no issues with lag nor random connection drops.
just REALLY SOLID PERFORMANCE.
So, that gave me an idea, what if i made a stand alone application that allows us to use the included USB receiver with android?
and add extra functionality on top of it. such as emulating other controllers for better app compatibility.
I was looking for a driver or something that can pull access from that receiver. something i can integrate into my project.
As far as i know the controller is just seen as a Xbox 360 controller so i was wondering if there is a Pre-made driver for integration with apps, that would save me a lot of time and would simplify the process quite a bit.
The app will be free and will be given to people on my discord and on host sites.
Here's a link to the discord server i created.
nevermind its not letting me post links (thats fine)
I created the discord server because other people are having this issue as well.
and that's where all the progress will be recorded. also if you have this controller and are experiencing issues you can join too!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hello, I apologize if there is already a thread, but I could not find it. I have an Nvidia Shield TV Pro; MX Player Pro automatically disconnects the external USB stick, not allowing me to see the files inside. other media players work fine
Same problem here. Came to this forum looking for a solution. Since NVIDIA upgraded our Android to v11, MX Player Pro is broken. I want to die. It is my main app for watching videos from an external USB disk. Some plans on updating the app?
Same problem on different boxes (Amiko A5/Android 7 - Yoka BB2/AndroidTV 9)...
...could be a permissions problem ?
I suppose the problem is related with permissions in any way. However, in the NVIDIA Shield TV with Android v9 the app worked perfectly. Something has changed in the permissions system so a lot of apps stopped working until they have been updated. I was wondering if there is any update for MX Player Pro on the near future.
We've just tested mpv-android and NOVA (both of which supports hw-acceleration like MX) on same boxes and none of them suffer of this issue.
Came here with the same problem. Just got my Nvidia Shield TV Pro a few days ago, and only just started looking for a solution to this issue. That is, I go to browse my USB harddrive then *bam* magically at that very moment, it gets disconnected. This can also be seen in the NVidia settings > Storage before and after going into the MXP file list. Happens every time. I reconnect my drive, gets recognised by Android, then back into MXP and it gets disconnected again.
The only info I can find related to this so far, is the issue where hard drives disconnect when the Shield goes to sleep. But that's a different issue which I believe has been fixed recently by Nvidia anyway.

Same!
I found a generalised reference to this issue at :

That is to say, that when giving permission "Allow only while using the app", it gets treated the same as "Do not allow". Including "X-plore File Manager", which I'm pretty happy with, though it struggles with large Zip and WinRAR files.
And here I reach a dead end, because I set mine to "Always allow". I did some poking around and interestingly, VLC Media works fine despite (browsing, playing, building icons) having the permission set to "Do not allow"! That's interesting (if not concerning actually). And yet with MXP, my permissions were fine and it doesn't work. Go figure. It does seem to be something with Android 11 but Android TV is a little closed-up and not sure what else I can try. VLC is "fine" - it's not a bad app - but it's just not scratching the itch like MXP does.
