Hey everyone just got my shield I'm very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the gamepad. So I've run into an issue when I try to stream certain games that are supposed to be supported. What will happen is I choose a game i.e borderlands 2 and my computer goes to load but it gets stuck on a screen with the shield logo and the mouse will show loading but nothing will happen however when I try to stream through steam everything works just fine thank you guys in advance for helping out

It's hard to understand what you are talking about here. If you can load through steam big picture, and it works more reliably, then just stick to using that. The individually supported games (outside of big picture mode) are a convenience in case you aren't logged in to steam, but ultimately, using Steam Big Picture on this is quick and works VERY well. Of course, there are bugs and kinks, but for BETA software, it's impressive. Occasionally, I find that the GeForce experience application will "lose" the streaming feature, and requires a computer reboot.
Also, I find it best to launch the PC streaming while in a strong wireless network environment (i.e., closer to your router), then move to a distance farther away. Launching and getting the initial sync seems to be very dependent on network strength initially...once launched, the setup seems to handle streaming glitches better.
For example, I generally have a hard time launching from my 3rd story bedroom so I move downstairs, launch, then head back up stairs and it works great. I have no idea why I can stream reliably upstairs, but often have trouble getting streaming to launch initially!
Thanks for taking time to help you seem to be picking up what I'm putting down I tried again the other day and it worked OK, the entire streaming seems a little inconsistent at times. Just out of curiosity would it be significantly more stable if the geforce PC was connected through a hard wire?
P.S I just got VPN working can't wait to try it out

Way more reliable to use an ethernet cable yes. I personally believe a person should always attempt to go ethernet first and only use WiFi for devices which are by their nature portable or if there is no way to practically route a cable there. My desktop is shamefully on wifi as I would have to run the cable through the dining room, hall, up some stairs, across a hallway and across my room. Going through walls is not so much an option in a house thought to be 150 to 200 years old, however I do have thin walls so get a great WiFi signal at least.
WiFi has significantly higher latency than a hardwired ethernet cable.
Only advantage of wifi really is the lack of a cable. Makes things quite straightforward.
every time i try to stream it kicks me off the game shortly after it starts. i have the newest update and i have the newest drivers and steam beta, i even tried the optimus fix just in case. but games just won't stay connected. my pc is hardwired(1gbps). i'm thinking its my router which is saddening because it works nearly flawless for everything else in my house(the router). its N300 and gbps wired but its not 5ghz..

I wanted to know if using the splashtop HD (not sure if it comes loaded with or not) But I wanted to know if this does allow for gaming or not, just simple gaming nothing harcore.
Doesn't come loaded with SplashtopHD but MyCloud does the same thing and it's preloaded on the TF

Really, if can do the remote desktop thing so you can do basic point and click games?
Haven't tried to play any games but if it's basic point clicks should be do able if speed is not a factor.
sorry to disappoint you but clicks in games are very clunky at the best...Not sure why but my first guess would be there are some fundamental differences between inputs in windows api and DirectX api.. and in many (not all) games, a single click seems to only trigger a mouse-over event and you have to double click really fast and precisely in the same position to make it registered as a mouse click.

well for the moment it doesnt matter as I cant see my pc with it.
tried last night with Splashtop... the standard free version only lets u get 1024x768, while HD can get u 1280x720(extra 80 pixel taken by the bottom bar)
i tried launching Mass Effect from it, and it says failed, cos it doesnt support full screen application...
another thing worth mentioning is that the mouse control(or touchpad) is very awkward to use... it's the same control as android, right click = back, where the actual Windows right click = Hold Left Click..
also, the stream is rather laggy, i tried watching video on it.. it's not smooth, i guess it streams less then 24 fps then.. not yet practical, but got its potential, do hope Asus would improve it in the future

My problem is still at getting it and my pc to see each other, but last night I had some network issues. (First could ping other pc's but no one could ping me and also I didn't even show up on the router as there) But after 4 hours and such I think I just want to figure out how to get a refund from them for the HD copy I got since it just doesn't work for me.
Even after I got my PC to show up on the network and everything else, it still doesn't show up. Load it on another pc boom shows up first time.
Damn, i installed the desktop version and showed me webpage to download splashtop for android. Did this and after 5 minutes it disconnected and showed me a paid app for full functionality. I buyed this, but now after 10 days is see it is included in mycloud. So i asked for a refund and they say: too late! this can only be done in 7 days!

Welcome to the ****ed over club then, I bought the HD and normal one. One for my phone and one for my tablet, and after 5 days of fighting with it I still can't get any of them to see my PC and all they do is shout port forward like I am to stupid to have done that first. The site they have also has limited support.
The one that came with the mycloud stuff I think is the old one and HD is the newer one.
Has anyone used it to stream Netflix from their PC? Youtube seems A-ok.
Got it free with mycloud... paid for the HD version. Best RDP software I've tried and I've tried a few

I haven't tried Netflix, but I've streamed live tv from my PC with a couple of DVB-C cards. This works fine and channel changes are almost as fast as when viewed on the PC directly, so I don't see any reason why Netflix shouldn't work too.
In order to play any game you have to set it to windowed mode. I played SC2 the other night. it wasnt bad but it's hard typing and playing at the same time unless you have the dock with mouse
Splashtop HD supports full-screen, so you can run games and watch videos in full-screen now. As to why your PC isn't detected, have you tried manually adding the internal IP of your PC? Did you try setting up Static internal IP? What kind of router are you running, I know some cheap routers have issues with routing properly even with correct settings.

I've had the problem where it was working and then stopped being detected. A reboot fixed the issue but for those that did get it working and it stopped working, this is what I had to do..

Aye I did, it's a netgear one. My pc has a set internal ip of 192.168.1.100 and at first no other system could see or ping me, never needed too so the problem was never noticed. I fixed it so now I can be seen and such but the app still won't find my pc, even when I manually add it to the program.
I went to the router and already forwared the ports it needed to .100 on my end and that is the only advise they keep drolling out at me. I know this works and was livid when I installed it on a pc wired into the router and boom found it right away, I know the issue is on my pc side just not sure what.
Hi all,
It's my first time posting here.
Got my TF fro about 2 weeks now, generally quite happy with it but have some problem using splashtop as some of you here.
I wanted to use TF to control my laptop at office. I was able to control my laptop if through local network but when try to control it from outside internet, I have done all the proper portforwarding (setting port 6783~6785 linked to my laptop static IP) I always failed
My laptop connect to office router (WAG200G) through wireless though. Could that be a problem?
Thanks
I can play games with Splashtop HD and they run great (even games like Crysis2).
The only problem is that I must use the same WiFi network.
If I connect my PC from a different network, it's very slow to even just browse my PC, not to mention playing a game.
@liorry how do you connect to PC on different network?
Why do they bother to still design tablets with the CPU/GPU on board? When I think about the future of windows with windows 8 I think about tablets being heavier to run the x86 architecture and I wonder why not just use something like intels widi and transmit only the picture to a tablet and have a server plugged in doing all the processing, maybe even running another instance or switchable session of the OS attached to a standard desktop display/keyboard mouse. The tablet would of course still need a processor but only to process a ready to go image, audio and to interpret touch inputs and transmit them to the server. This would allow for larger batteries and be much more cost effective in the long run.
Of course we will still need today's style for outside the home/office but like the desktop there is still a market for the LAN only machines.
Maybe this is already available and someone can point me to where I can buy it now! :x
You want the cloud? Not ready yet. Until then, splashtop will have to do. Also, botnet.

No, nothing over the internet. I'm simply talking about a wireless display with a battery but one that can transmit touch inputs. Not sure how else to put it but if you have seen the wireless transmitter and receivers for HDMI, similar to this.
Does anyone see where I'm going with this? Windows 8 is touch screen but the best I could find that are desktop-like is the dell ST2220T which only has 2 touch points that is not cetified for windows 8 which I believe accepts up to 4.
Next I looked at tablets and there are a few budget(if you can call $500 with a small display, bad/slow graphics card and little storage budget) that look promising but could easily have 100 hardware issues that would drive me nuts and then theres the name brand stuff like samsungs $1,000 pc tablets which still suffer from built in gpu's that suck.
My idea would simply be the cost of a screen and battery if you already own a desktop with say, intel widi (wireless display) and some sort of input receiver to receive the touch commands from the tablet display. The performance would be virtually unlimited!
Are you basically talking about a device that connects through your local network to a transmitting PC running an OS of your choosing? Sort of like a portable monitor that doubles as a touchscreen?
Constant wifi or similar connection would drain the battery as well. Also, that would require a whole separate computer to run the system itself (if you're doing it at home), or a fast, VERY low latency broadband connection to a cloud (so forget about the device being very cheap just because you have to somehow pay for the server-side as well). Otherwise you'd be struggling with laggy UI which is the exact opposite of what everyone wants.
So... not for a few more years... or decades

Like a portable monitor with touchscreen that transmits touch inputs/commands wirelessly back to the desktop just like a mouse.
I don't think transmitting through networks is a good idea and thats why I mentioned the Intel WIDI wireless display technology that is already in most new Inte'ls so all we would really need to change on the PC side is a customized wireless receiver for the touch inputs.
Hell, I'm thinking about calling a friend who is an EE and getting something made if nobody else is...lol.

Eh the technology is here with http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/intel-wireless-display.html
Using wifi isn't efficient, but tablets use most of their energy on the display and processing. Since all you would be doing is signal processing vs actual computation @ the tablet end you would use considerably less juice. Like Half.
You are talking direct wireless connection from tablet to monitor, not going through a wireless router or connection? Interesting idea, but why not just go through a wireless connection? Wouldn't this also kind of tether you to your pc? Splashtop or Logmein allows you to do this anywhere.

All I'm talking about is a PC or laptop with a second display thats wireless. Then we call it a tablet because it has a touch screen that sends signals back to the PC or laptop to move the mouse or rather gestures. Not cloud computing, I have done this and it's terrible. Cloud is basically remote desktop which is choppy and worse then current tablets. What I'm talking about would make the performance increase as Intel claims virtually no latency with WIDI and even 5 milliseconds would be hard to notice considering how laggy android is as it's basically a virtual machine.
Hereis a clip I just found, not sure if it's available yet but:
Now ASUS brings another solution to the table, the WiCast, which can be connected to any computer and any television and promises latency-free 1080p video and audio.
I'm giving this thing a trial run as a desktop replacement. As such, I keep the dock jacked into power, LAN, USB hub, HDMI monitor and a set of desktop speakers pretty much all day. There are several things that really kill Android as a true multi-tasking device suitable for this type of work, but nothing is as annoying as the audible POP you hear when the internal amplifier turns itself on and off. I'm assuming this is a power-saving mechanism which makes sense, but it drives me crazy! I typically do not notice this sound with headphones... only powered external speakers. Anyone experience this and have a work around? I'm thinking my only option is to switch to USB audio.

The popping sound would be annoying, but I'm interested to hear about how the rest of the experiment is going. Is there anything really important that you can't do, or can't do well enough with your current set-up? I ask because with JB and the CleanRom and some browser tweaks, this thing is way faster than either my work or home desktops (not top of the line, mind you). I'd love to make it do more for me...I think it's capable of a lot. Oh, are you printing from it, too?

I'm using this thing for everything from e-mail (mix of gapps and exchange), RPD into client computers and basic word processing and spreadsheeting. I started this experience after the JB update w/ a factory reset. I haven't re-installed the printing solution yet, but before I wiped ICS it appeared PrintHand was promising. My biggest complaint so far is the lack of a window manager or even basic dual head support in order to utilize my wide-screen HDMI monitor for true multi-tasking. Floating apps are nice, but there is a limited selection and they are really not a true solution anyway. Other than that, just getting used to a different work flow is the biggest challenge. Check back sometime end of this week or beginning of next. I'll post my complete findings in the General forum.

Excellent!
Thanks. (Ran out of thanks for the day) I'll hit you up in the General thread.)
Looks like there is an old thread about this but I want to revisit this anyway...
Lets say you wanted to play the best game ever - The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past on PC then wanted to continue where you left off on your android phone later. The only solution I can think of is to use Google Drive or Dropbox or something like that which I tested and does work. Does anyone have any other ideas to accomplish this? I would love to purchase an emulator with this feature and would pay up to $9.99 or so for something like this.
I wonder if you can set up Tasker to do this? That would be something.
Just copy/paste it from your drive/dropbox folder into your sav game folder. It takes 60 seconds to move a small save file. Go for the high score.
So I think I figured out a workaround for what I want to do. My TV is right next to my PC where I charge my phone. I purchased a USB to MHL connector to connect my phone to the TV and charge at the same time. I installed the PS3 Sixaxis software and paired my controller with my phone. This also acts as a keyboard and mouse which is key for opening up the emulators and selecting the games. NOW I can sit on the couch and play the games on the phone through the TV with a wireless controller. Instead of playing the games on multiple devices, my one main device will always have my save data on it. I should be able to test it all out tomorrow.
Whats good about this is that my daily routine of connecting my phone up to the charger when I get home won't change. It's still just one connection. I imagine i'll even be able to take calls too...
Hey there! i was at my local store looking for a controller and came across the Steelseries Stratus Duo, i got it and brought it home hoping that it would work nicely with my phone, the exact opposite was true, i was using Bluetooth
and it had horrible lag and often times disconnected i tried to fix the lag and connection drops, nothing worked.
And sense this has no way to update firmware (at-least at the moment) on the Bluetooth side, i am not able to use it in that mode.
I have tested this on multiple devices, some carrying the bt 5.0 chip some with bt 4.2 and some with bt 4.1
the controller says it is using a Bt 4.1 chip (that's what it says on the box)
all exhibit the same issue's as noted above. most if not all are supposed to be compatible, but all of them are glitchy. with this controller.
So i was understandably disappointed, not wanting to return the controller,i tried out something, if you have ever used steam link app for android and plugged in a USB controller? if so the application will ask you if you want to use it with your device? you can choose yes or no, i tried it and was really surprised that it worked as well as it did, absolutely no issues with lag nor random connection drops.
just REALLY SOLID PERFORMANCE.
So, that gave me an idea, what if i made a stand alone application that allows us to use the included USB receiver with android?
and add extra functionality on top of it. such as emulating other controllers for better app compatibility.
I was looking for a driver or something that can pull access from that receiver. something i can integrate into my project.
As far as i know the controller is just seen as a Xbox 360 controller so i was wondering if there is a Pre-made driver for integration with apps, that would save me a lot of time and would simplify the process quite a bit.
The app will be free and will be given to people on my discord and on host sites.
Here's a link to the discord server i created.
nevermind its not letting me post links (thats fine)
I created the discord server because other people are having this issue as well.
and that's where all the progress will be recorded. also if you have this controller and are experiencing issues you can join too!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
