hello, I apologize if there is already a thread, but I could not find it. I have an Nvidia Shield TV Pro; MX Player Pro automatically disconnects the external USB stick, not allowing me to see the files inside. other media players work fine
Same problem here. Came to this forum looking for a solution. Since NVIDIA upgraded our Android to v11, MX Player Pro is broken. I want to die. It is my main app for watching videos from an external USB disk. Some plans on updating the app?
Same problem on different boxes (Amiko A5/Android 7 - Yoka BB2/AndroidTV 9)...
...could be a permissions problem ?
I suppose the problem is related with permissions in any way. However, in the NVIDIA Shield TV with Android v9 the app worked perfectly. Something has changed in the permissions system so a lot of apps stopped working until they have been updated. I was wondering if there is any update for MX Player Pro on the near future.
We've just tested mpv-android and NOVA (both of which supports hw-acceleration like MX) on same boxes and none of them suffer of this issue.
Came here with the same problem. Just got my Nvidia Shield TV Pro a few days ago, and only just started looking for a solution to this issue. That is, I go to browse my USB harddrive then *bam* magically at that very moment, it gets disconnected. This can also be seen in the NVidia settings > Storage before and after going into the MXP file list. Happens every time. I reconnect my drive, gets recognised by Android, then back into MXP and it gets disconnected again.
The only info I can find related to this so far, is the issue where hard drives disconnect when the Shield goes to sleep. But that's a different issue which I believe has been fixed recently by Nvidia anyway.

Same!
I found a generalised reference to this issue at :

That is to say, that when giving permission "Allow only while using the app", it gets treated the same as "Do not allow". Including "X-plore File Manager", which I'm pretty happy with, though it struggles with large Zip and WinRAR files.
And here I reach a dead end, because I set mine to "Always allow". I did some poking around and interestingly, VLC Media works fine despite (browsing, playing, building icons) having the permission set to "Do not allow"! That's interesting (if not concerning actually). And yet with MXP, my permissions were fine and it doesn't work. Go figure. It does seem to be something with Android 11 but Android TV is a little closed-up and not sure what else I can try. VLC is "fine" - it's not a bad app - but it's just not scratching the itch like MXP does.

I just bought a new Samsung Captivate for Christmas, with AT&T, and unfortunately, it’s still a 2.1, and hoping for an update, really soon. There’s a lot to learn using the Captivate, and so far, I love the quality that is built into it. This is a problem, I don’t yet understand.
I read up on connecting the Captivate and my Windows XP laptop, and found a software that was supposed to loaded on my pc, the Samsung Kies. I downloaded it, but when I try to open it, it goes into an error message about a JIT debugger. Really? Is that a windows thing, or a Samsung thing? But, I left it alone, until last night, I called an AT&T Tech, and after awhile, he had me download another piece, a driver, to make it work. I did, and it now works…, sort of. It’s because of not knowing if it’s an Android ONLY problem, that keeps things from showing on my pc, or is it a compatibility issue, between Windows XP and Android. Let me explain it better.
When I now connect the USB cord between the two, I drop the screen down, and click on connected by USB cable. I then get asked if I want to MOUNT the phone. The Captivate then gives me three options: to either update Kies, Media mode, or Mass storage. Regardless of my choice, I’m not getting everything off my Captivate. If I click on media, my Real Player window opens, and it gives me the choice of music, or snapshots. I can’t understand though, how to choose VIDEO? I want to try and show the identical thing on my pc, that I am viewing on my Captivate. I was using Droid Streamer for the first time, and found Avatar, and when I clicked on it, it showed the movie broke into 5 episodes. I clicked on the first, and the movie started. A beautiful display, showing the movie, awed me. But I quickly thought, if I can see it on a 4” screen, can I see it on my pc monitor? And if I do, will it allow me to send it to my tv? My computer has a tv out, on it’s graphics card, and it allows me to transfer what I’m watching on my pc, to my LCD tv. But trying to get the Avatar movie, to show on my pc, while it’s showing on the Captivate, didn’t work. I simply can’t see video, by what I am trying. I understand, Captivate, is an Android system, while XP, is a Windows system. Is there a compatibilty issue there, that prevents what is showing on the Captivate, to also allow it to be shown on my XP laptop? Or is it an issue, of not knowing how to do it, instead of it can’t be done? If so, where can I find out, how to do it?
Something else I don’t understand, is that there are a lot more programs, on my Captivate, both that came with it, and that I have added, yet XP only shows a part of what’s on the Captivate. Is that normal? And if not, what’s wrong that I need to do differently?
I’m trying to do away with cable charges each month. I recently moved to a new location, and I haven’t turned on the cable. My next buy will probably be a Roku set top box, to stream everything from the web, and leave my pc from doing that. I think I read, that the Captivate I bought, allows signals directly to the tv, from it. But I haven’t tried anything, yet. If I’m right, and can by pass the laptop directly to the pc, I’d no doubt have to buy a special wire, to hook up the two. Am I accurate, that the Captivate can stream programming, like the Avatar movie, directly to the tv? Or am I confused on that? One concern I have that I hope to achieve, is to find free streaming from local network tv. Moving to a new home location, means unfortunately that my over the air HD antennae, doesn’t work very well any more, so I’m missing most of the local news, without a cable or dish contract. But it seems the lack of Android 2.2 for us, and it’s enabling FLASH finally, prevents some streaming services from being available.
Any help or ideas on this, will be appreciated. Thank’s in advance.

I wanted to know if using the splashtop HD (not sure if it comes loaded with or not) But I wanted to know if this does allow for gaming or not, just simple gaming nothing harcore.
Doesn't come loaded with SplashtopHD but MyCloud does the same thing and it's preloaded on the TF

Really, if can do the remote desktop thing so you can do basic point and click games?
Haven't tried to play any games but if it's basic point clicks should be do able if speed is not a factor.
sorry to disappoint you but clicks in games are very clunky at the best...Not sure why but my first guess would be there are some fundamental differences between inputs in windows api and DirectX api.. and in many (not all) games, a single click seems to only trigger a mouse-over event and you have to double click really fast and precisely in the same position to make it registered as a mouse click.

well for the moment it doesnt matter as I cant see my pc with it.
tried last night with Splashtop... the standard free version only lets u get 1024x768, while HD can get u 1280x720(extra 80 pixel taken by the bottom bar)
i tried launching Mass Effect from it, and it says failed, cos it doesnt support full screen application...
another thing worth mentioning is that the mouse control(or touchpad) is very awkward to use... it's the same control as android, right click = back, where the actual Windows right click = Hold Left Click..
also, the stream is rather laggy, i tried watching video on it.. it's not smooth, i guess it streams less then 24 fps then.. not yet practical, but got its potential, do hope Asus would improve it in the future

My problem is still at getting it and my pc to see each other, but last night I had some network issues. (First could ping other pc's but no one could ping me and also I didn't even show up on the router as there) But after 4 hours and such I think I just want to figure out how to get a refund from them for the HD copy I got since it just doesn't work for me.
Even after I got my PC to show up on the network and everything else, it still doesn't show up. Load it on another pc boom shows up first time.
Damn, i installed the desktop version and showed me webpage to download splashtop for android. Did this and after 5 minutes it disconnected and showed me a paid app for full functionality. I buyed this, but now after 10 days is see it is included in mycloud. So i asked for a refund and they say: too late! this can only be done in 7 days!

Welcome to the ****ed over club then, I bought the HD and normal one. One for my phone and one for my tablet, and after 5 days of fighting with it I still can't get any of them to see my PC and all they do is shout port forward like I am to stupid to have done that first. The site they have also has limited support.
The one that came with the mycloud stuff I think is the old one and HD is the newer one.
Has anyone used it to stream Netflix from their PC? Youtube seems A-ok.
Got it free with mycloud... paid for the HD version. Best RDP software I've tried and I've tried a few

I haven't tried Netflix, but I've streamed live tv from my PC with a couple of DVB-C cards. This works fine and channel changes are almost as fast as when viewed on the PC directly, so I don't see any reason why Netflix shouldn't work too.
In order to play any game you have to set it to windowed mode. I played SC2 the other night. it wasnt bad but it's hard typing and playing at the same time unless you have the dock with mouse
Splashtop HD supports full-screen, so you can run games and watch videos in full-screen now. As to why your PC isn't detected, have you tried manually adding the internal IP of your PC? Did you try setting up Static internal IP? What kind of router are you running, I know some cheap routers have issues with routing properly even with correct settings.

I've had the problem where it was working and then stopped being detected. A reboot fixed the issue but for those that did get it working and it stopped working, this is what I had to do..

Aye I did, it's a netgear one. My pc has a set internal ip of 192.168.1.100 and at first no other system could see or ping me, never needed too so the problem was never noticed. I fixed it so now I can be seen and such but the app still won't find my pc, even when I manually add it to the program.
I went to the router and already forwared the ports it needed to .100 on my end and that is the only advise they keep drolling out at me. I know this works and was livid when I installed it on a pc wired into the router and boom found it right away, I know the issue is on my pc side just not sure what.
Hi all,
It's my first time posting here.
Got my TF fro about 2 weeks now, generally quite happy with it but have some problem using splashtop as some of you here.
I wanted to use TF to control my laptop at office. I was able to control my laptop if through local network but when try to control it from outside internet, I have done all the proper portforwarding (setting port 6783~6785 linked to my laptop static IP) I always failed
My laptop connect to office router (WAG200G) through wireless though. Could that be a problem?
Thanks
I can play games with Splashtop HD and they run great (even games like Crysis2).
The only problem is that I must use the same WiFi network.
If I connect my PC from a different network, it's very slow to even just browse my PC, not to mention playing a game.
@liorry how do you connect to PC on different network?
So ive been playing fine over my wifi network and today i try to stream borderlands 2 but nothing was happening so i get on my computer and open up geforce experience and the do not stream is highlighted green and it will not let me click the other ones. Can anyone help me

It is a general error with the shield and geforce experiences, i had the same issue and the only way that i get it fixed it, it was deleted the pc on my shield and restard the shield, then activate beta versions on nvidia xperiences and update the application, then restart the pc and add the computer again and issue solved, i hope this help you to solve the error
Well I can click that now but no matter what I cannot stream it says its launching the game and it does on my computer but it flashes right back to launching game screen on shield
Mine was doing something similar and i was just happening to be modifying my router at the same time. I noticed a slight discrepancy in what GFE had my pc named as, and what it was actually named. Deleted my shield from GFE, Renamed my pc, rebooted my pc, readded my shield and everything worked fine
So basically when I bought my shield it worked perfectly out of the box, here is the specs...
3570k i5
780ti
Pce ASUS ac68
Asus ac68u router
As I said it worked flawlessly, no latency issues etc. Then round about the same time the KitKat update rolled out, and GeForce experience 2.1 dropped. This immediately ruined streaming. Would say PC was offline and Gfe wouldn't allow new connections to it. Shield couldn't find the PC on the network when looking for a new streaming connection. I'm told too that the KitKat update broke a lot of the emulators (essentially bricking the shield to be honest).
I ripped out all the Nvidia software and downgraded to 2.0 GeForce experience which is bundled with an older version of the GPU drivers. Also unlocked, rooted and flashed the shield back to factory android version. This meant I could stream again without issue, great!!!
Now I've bought a shield wireless controller to play games on the sofa in console mode. Problem now is that you need the shield wireless controller app on the shield to connect, this only comes with the latest android update, which only works with gfe 2.1 which subsequently breaks the streaming. So either I have a working shield running old software that I cant connect the controller to, or I have everything up to date and a controller connected but lose the ability to play games. How very very stupid.
What do I do to get the best of both worlds? The wireless controller app isn't available on play store or anywhere else. Can anyone get the standalone apk?! Need help.
Thanks!!

I'm waiting for my Shield Tablet right now. When i place the prder at Sept 16, the website says it will be shipped on Oct. 1st,ñ nevertheless i got a messages on Sept. 18 saying that my tablet was shipped and i got tracking numbers. In the meantime i'm reading everything i can to be docummented, one of the things i read about was problems with KitKat and the tablet. Some people says that factory reseting the tablet makewe it work. So my advicve is, update your shield and them hard reset it. And try again.
Hello everybody.
I've been having this problem for over a year now. I have a MiBox 3, it's the 2018 model I think. The problem is when I'm playing a video from external storage on MX Player, all of the sudden, the MiBox restarts. It's completely random. One time, I did a factory reset, installed the few apps I use and the very next day, restart in the middle of a video. But another time, after several reinstalls, the MiBox lasted 4 weeks without restarts.
I tried everything to fix this:
1.- Different versions of MX Player: official and modded versions, old, new, different settings, you name it. Different video players work but they're crap next to MX, they don't have the functions I need. I don't use versions past 1.32 because there are a couple of implementations they did I don't like and it's impossible to change them on TV, only in mobile devices.
2. Allow and block internet access: for some reason if I disable WiFi the MiBox lasts longer without restart than connected. But eventually it always restarts. I tried third party apps to block internet access for MX Player but the app breaks, it doesn't work either.
3. Lots of factory resets: mostly after system updates. With the last one I think the MiBox starts a little faster but the apps work the same.
I don't do streaming so I only connect to the internet so the MiBox sets the right time. That's it. I unplugged it when I don't use it because it keeps the light of the portable HDD on, and it really bothers me.
4. Downgrading to Android 8. I'm pretty sure this started with the upgrade to Android 9. I did the downgrade last night but that brought old problems back: that awful bright dot on the upper left corner of the screen (extremely noticeable because I have an OLED TV) and the impossibility to write content on the external USB drive. So, I'm back on Android 9.
Anybody has a suggestion???
Thanks in advance.
