Battery Compartment - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

So a little earlier today I took of my phone's hybrid case to clean the screen. Also took off the back cover to check for any dust just in case any may have got into there, I noticed a black sticker with a white dot on it. Now since I don't know what it is I decided that maybe its better if I just leave it alone. Can anyone please provide me some insight of what exactly is it for?

Not sure what you are seeing cause I dont see it, but it may be the water damage indicator. However the water damage indicator on my phone is just a small white square. It turns pink when exposed to water.
Sticker I am referring to is behind the battery tho.

Oh okay. I'm still searching around to see if I can find out what exactly is it

If you are refering to the one next to the sim card I believe it is a tamper sticker. So samsung will know if the phone has been opened by a non authorized service center.

Oh okay. Thank you both very much for the knowledge.

Replacement battery cover?

So I was a little too rough taking off the back cover and I guess I warped it or something... Whenever I apply pressure to the back of the phone (like when you grab it) it creaks and squeaks... and it's really bothering the **** out of me
I tried searching but I just can't find any... Anyone know where I can get a replacement?
It says out of stock now buy they had them a couple days ago. Also, you have to order at least 5. http://www.globaldirectparts.com/LG-Star-P990-Optimus-2X-Battery-Door-p/lg970940.htm

Saw that one... It's the wrong color though
I'm pretty sure that's the right color. Keep in mind that's a garbage quality picture of it and the metal piece has protective plastic over it.

P990 (O2x) has a black back opposed to the G2x with the brown

IMEI sticker on the back of the phone.

Anyone else considering of peeling it off? Mine is starting to gather dirt around it (purchased the white one) and starting to come off.

rip it off... information is on the sim card tray if you take it out and look closely... also inside the box your phone came in should be a spare sticker to put back on the phone in case of a warranty claim.

The day I received the phone I took it off.

Ahhh, what i find amusing here is this. I had to exchange my one X yesterday, luckily the store i frequent most likes me as they held it for me instead of sending it back when i called last week. Anyways, the salesman processing the exchange is the only person i deal with when i go in there so we joke around and he started the exchange and said you really couldnt just leave that sticker on there could you? So, i told him that there was an extra one in the box so that it could be removed and he nor any of the other staff members there even knew the extra sticker existed.
Anyways, yes, remove that unsightly sticker as it wont hurt anything.
Gone the moment I got the phone in my hands.

removed mine before leaving the store. it's in a few places on the phone, including HBoot (pwr+vol down on startup).
I'm glad it's a sticker and not etched into the phone like apple does with all those informative trademark signs. Yeah, we have those to but they are barely visible on the bottom of the phone.
I took it off before I opened the box hahaha in my mind
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Yea.. I knew all the info was in the phone. But wasn't sure if it'll leave an ugly mark. Its off now looks way cleaner.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
The same info also displayed in Hboot, with the bar codes and everything.
The stick left a faint mark or residue. But wiping with a little glass cleaner took that right off.

Anyone else scratch their camera yet?

Just noticed today my camera lens has a fine scratch running across it. Its about a hair away from the shutter thankfully. Didn't think this thing would scratch that easily...Ive had a case on and haven't even dropped it once since I got it on day 1 of release!
Anyone else in the same boat as me? Now I'm pretty worried I will get another one across the lens area and it will cause my camera to be useless...and I already know vzw won't replace the phone for something like that (not that id want one of the junk refurbs anyway)
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
You can replace the camera lens for almost nothing. The cover you see when you take the battery cover off has the camera lense embedded in it and can be replaced in 2 seconds with a small screw driver. The cover is like $5 I think.

Hmmm...if I could find one around that price is probably buy it! I can only find the camera module itself for $35...do you have any idea where I could go about finding the cover?

I can't seem to find it but I remember it was like $5 off a spare parts site. Maybe somebody else will chime in.

No scratches. My back of my phone case is about 5mm deep, so fortunately it protects the lens.
Didn't know u can replace cover tho. Good info to file away for later
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
That's good to know it can be replaced. The back cover from Verizon goes for about $8 also, so now I'm not too worried about scratches.
Thanks for the link! I guess color doesn't matter since you don't see that part anyway!

+1 to OP. Glad to know I have options. Fortunately the bad scratch I have stopped just short of causing any issues. No clue how it got there.

I wouldn't buy that one. I just got one and it doesn't match perfectly on VZW version. Notice the open hole towards the bottom. Also bottom inside parts doesn't allow it to easily sit flush. Screw holes match up though. The ebay one is the bottom picture.
If anyone knows of a way to get a VZW version let me know. Seems others may know of other sites? The actual fix is easy. Just need the part.
My problem is worse.
Ouch! Thanks for the heads up.

I got the extended battery more for the protection of the camera than battery life. The extended cover has a nice deep hole to protect the camera, speaker and flash. It also helps a tiny bit with sun glare on certain pics... a very tiny bit.

[Q] IMEI Sticker

Hi there,
I've had a look but can't find any posts on this, search is temporarily disabled at the moment as well.....
Anyhoo, I've got an IMEI panel on the back of my N5 between the NEXUS and LG markings.
Does anyone know if these can come off? I have a buff rectangle with the IMEI number and a barcode which seems to be mounted on a larger black glossy rectangle.
I don't want to end up making the phone look crap, I assume they're stuck on.
Anyone any success in removing them? Not particularly a fan of it as it is.....
Thanks for any help!
Justin
Yes it comes off
Mine came off really easily and left no marks, and I have the white model
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Just to confirm it does come off , I have the black one and also thought this but simply pick at the right side (the tab bit) and it should come away from the back relatively easily and leave no mess, enjoy your clean back! .
Just taken mine off with no problems!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Lol! Just came looking for an answer to this as well. Didnt want to mess up the back. Thanks all!
I was thinking the same thing! haha...I was pissed that none of the hands on videos showed the sticker and mine came with a sticker loll
just wondering for those who took the sticker off, do you have LG d820 under the sticker, with a glassy plastic finish?

well that sure was easy
Sorry for necroing, but for those who wonder, your IMEI tag is under the battery so removing that annoying sticker won't void your warranty or something like that. Peeled mine off easily.

What are my options here? Cracked digitizer but NOT cracked screen...

First off, I love my note 3. This phone is so close to perfect I can't bear the fact that I broke it somehow.
After having no case/screen protector since I got this phone.. sometime end of summer.. I bought my first case off of amazon. I received it YESTERDAY.. today.. while it was in the case, in my back pack (in a nice "protective" pouch that is lined with soft cloth) somehow it cracked the lcd screen (or digitizer) but the GLASS IS NOT CRACKED. Infact there's no physical damage to the phone at all, no dents or scratches anywhere on the phone at all, even looking at the screen under a light. Nothing on the glass.
SO I'm heart broken. It's my secondary phone so I have no insurance on it.
What would you do ? It's a sprint phone.. black.
You have to replace your complete screen.
It's called a full assembly.
You can't just replace you lcd alone.
They cost around $200.
Try parts4repair.com
I repair alot of phones and this site always has the best quality.

There's no damage at all, not even a slight scratch. I'm actually a little curious how it happened.
So it can really be some fault in phone that'll go under warranty have you tried resetting phone if it's some software fault / bug?

Yes.. you can see the top third of the screen for a minute or two, then it goes black/digital looking (8 bit graphics) and then eventually joins the bottom of the screen - being broken.

Actually - I looked at it under the light, if you hold it up to your eye level you can see a cracked digitizer

if there is no obvious damage such as a mark where is bounced on the ground or a crushed screen, i'd warranty it.
Isn't the Note a bit large to place in your back pocket?

I had the same thing happen, although it happened after someone else dropped the phone.
I ended up buying a new front assembly for the phone for about $237. It was the only seller that affirmatively listed the display as AMOLED. The repair was pretty straightforward and it works well now

I decided to go the honest route.
Handed her the phone saying that I dropped it, don't have insurance, can't get it anymore because it's been too long and asked if there was anything that could be done.
She smiled, said "Finally someone is honest, let me see what I can do"
Turns out they had a broken Note3 in the back with a good digitizer and screen.
Charged me 75 bucks, signed me up for insurance (I'm months outside the 30 day window) and sent me on my way.
Sure it's not free, but for 75 bucks and I don't have to mess with it and I kept my integrity, I'm happy!

I didn't drop it, but someone else did. So the warranty was gone.
The parts for the repair cost $237, i think, and was totally doable.

you actually can replace just the screen - there is a youtube video of a guy doing it.
However, when I did it, it was actually cheaper to buy the entire assembly...not to mention much easier.
