Hi, at the moment I'm using Valhalla Black FB. I was wondering if there was a rom that would change the way my phone communicates via bluetooth. I play a lot of emulators and I would like to use a controller. I've done a good amount of research on google and xda and couldn't find anything. I even looked for an app.
Thank you for any help
Did you read the emulators thread I posted in the themes and apps forum? It's got a guide for getting an emulator to work with a wiimote via bluetooth
It's a fact that many Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S 4G, won't connect to certain bluetooth devices while using ROMs based on the stock firmware (such as Valhalla Black). AOSP-based ROMs, such as CyanogenMod or any of our ICS ROMs, don't have these limitations, so flashing any of those should get your gamepad working.
Thanks! I must have skimmed over your post. I was thinking of trying out cm9 but I haven't looked into how stable it was. I really like the rom I'm using atm.

Hi all,
I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S, and I am wondering if you guys would know anything fun to do with a Samsung Jet S8000.
I installed Android from a project called JetDroid, and its pretty nice to have it on the phone, even if it isnt functional as a phone while in Android mode. I'm just wondering if there are any other similar projects out there.
I did a search for similar topics, but it seems that the Jet was a really unpopular phone as I cant find much info about it online.
Well, it was very limited (just a basic phone that happened to run Java2E). Not as smart as its advertising considering it was advertised as "Smater than a smartphone". But the base hardware is pretty nice.
Thank in advance for any replies
Nice to see other s8000 user here.
I still use my Jet today and im still waiting for usable Jetdroid version.
This device was very good for its time and the SoC plus RAM it as can run Android better than the current low end Android devices out there. Its a shame that Samsung dind at least upgrade the OS on the Jet to Bada OS.
Also samy drop support (updates) for it too soon imo.
As a multimedia device it is still pretty usefull...

Hey. Yeah I still use my jet as my second phone when abroad.
I saw a lower end android device ( vodafone smart -comparing 2008 hardware to 2011) and even thought the jet has a hugely unoptimised android install, still ran more smoothly in terms of gui compared to the vodafone smart... but also crashes a lot and was hard to install.
Pity Samsung rarely support their devices which are more than 2 years old. Even now my sgs is not going to get an official ICS update. (Not concerned as I have not used a stock Samsung firmware on a ling time).

Samy drop the suport for theyr products too soon
The Jet as a better SoC than my wife Ideos X3 (huawei) and a longuer battery life (running the stock OS).
Also the Jet does video call out of the box and the low end Android devices do not (and i cant understand why because many of them have front cameras).
i've tried Jetdroid but its not a viable option yet... :'(

I just got an email claiming a vast improvement to jetdroid based on cm7. I haven't tested it yet but I am very excited!

Hi Folks
I've just been given a broken s8000,
The digitizer has failed (screen still works fine). I've not physically opened it up yet so It could of just come loose, either way they're about £5 off ebay so It will be functioning again and
it does look like a very promising device to have a play around with. like has been mentioned, better than some current low end devices.
For anyone who's interested I've just done spent an hour get up to speed on development of the JetDroid project, because lets be honest, That's where the fun's at.
I first found http://code.google.com/p/jetdroid/ which made it looks like the project has been abandoned. This google code project yielded better results.
There's probably an "executive" overview of the project some that I've missed I did also notice that HTC Sense had been ported to It, I don't know whether they ported the bloat with it as well. Lol
Still no sim access from what I can gather as of they Status update on 2012-01-24 Is that correct?
Yes that's right. It works OK as an android device but no phone function at all yet.
When I get home, I will link the jetdroid forums. From what I can tell, everything is happening behind the scenes so there isn't much on the lines of public updates.

Ay, I found the forums and gathered that myself, The activity is intermittent but the lastest kernel was released in April so it's still current.
Although I keep reading that JetDroid isn't finished, they've been at it 2 years.
I think i'll ask the devs the technicalities of the sim issue. I'll at least have a stab at it. I'll probably fail and fail hard but I could do with knowing a bit more about simcard internals.
I guess it has something to do with how the jet handles the sim card. From my reading about it, its done in a propriety way, which makes sense cause the whole system was written around a touch wizard complete os.
So its likely going to need lots of reverse engineering. Much like the ril module on an i9000 was reverse engineered in order to get ril functions to work due to lack of sources.
I personally have no ability when it comes to this type if hardware coding. If the jet has more users interested in installing android, I think it would have already happened.
I definitely look forward for whatever breakthrough might happen.

I recently updated the firmware on my Jet. I used a guide here http://darkforestgroup.com/forum/index.php/topic,7464.0.html
I installed the Firmware using the guide there and a program called Multiloader_V5.62 which I downloaded from the site.
I had to google to find the correct firmware because many of the download links on the site no longer work and a couple I tried kept forcing shutting the phone down when on a call I'm now using version S8000XPJA1 which is working fine. I found it by googling for it. Beware of 'dodgy' down load sites though
Also I'm in the UK and I think the country you are in affects which firmware you should use so check first.
Goodluck
So, after digging around for the last month both on XDA and on the Googlewebs, I've not come up with a good way to get a bluetooth keyboard to both pair and connect (As in can be used as an input device) with this particular phone.
So far, I've tried different ROM's from AOSP ROM's to SENSE versions without any luck. I've also tried different kernals that people said worked or said they were AOSP kernals (CM7, Talon, LorDmod). I've used Ninja, MIUI, and Leedroid for the different ROM's I've tried it on.
Currently I'm running MIUI, and have asked the question in the Q&A forum there without any luck at all. So I was hoping XDA as a general can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
Anyone? There has to be someone with any idea of some way to get HID support with a keyboard on the Inspire.
Considering you're using a AOSP rom and kernel... have you tried using a near-stock ROM or at least a Sense ROM? Does it have the same issues?
And what keyboard are you using?

Hid Bluetooth isn't built in to stock or sense roms. It is supposed to be built in to cm7, but have never tried it. You may look into a Bluetooth keyboard that doesn't require hid, I read about it on these forums can't remember where, but it required dl-ing drivers on your phone and it worked.

Thanks! I'll have to look into that. In the mean time, I just received a tablet with Android 3.1 on it, which happens to support the HID keyboard I have. So that'll due me until I can look into the keyboards that don't require HID!
I'm searching or trying to understand if there is a way to enable a six axis ps3 controller to be used as IME (for emulation games), i've read somwhere that the INFUSE needed to have CYANOGEN but at this time, CYANOGEN isn't completely ready, i am running Infused v1.5.3 i'm hesitant to go to v2 beta 2.0+ didn't see any reviews or difference compared to 1.5.3 it's already stable as it is. Can somebody confirmed these statements or give me and idea how to get this started? Thanks i LOVE XDA on always checking for new updates and info.
Thanks in advance for any response!!!
Sorry man, its samsungs Bluetooth stack that prevents this and the only way to get Google bt stack is vannilla rom's such as cyanogenmod

i would like to find a way to make this stuff work....that blueputdroid stuff just doesnt like samsung. im guessing for the reasons the guy above said about the stacks.
but this would be a good look.
Doesn't work on any Samsung -derived rom. Worked briefly on our CM7 build, but bluetooth broke GPS and battery life. Bozo and I are gonna try again to get BT in a week or two.

hey guys, i just got myself a nexus s (switched from a captivate, to galaxy s 2, then to nexus s) and was looking into flashing the ICS port. I had done some reading about locked and unlocked bootloaders, so i wanted to know does it matter whether the bootloader is locked or unlocked if i were to flash the ICS port? i ask because i know there are specific roms for each bootloader in the android development.
also another question, if anyone here could give me some feedback on the daily use of the ICS port, whether they are happy with it. i've watched a couple youtube videos of the recent port and it seems to work quite well, but i wouldn't mind some feedback on it first. lately ive been running MIUI, so im content just using that if the ICS port isn't at that stage yet.
thanks for any input
You didn't do much reading if you don't know the bootloader needs to be unlocked to flash a custom recovery which in turn lets you flash custom roms.

i guess i may be wrong, but i had read this thread and figured it wasnt necessary
[GUIDE] Root & recovery WITHOUT oem unlock & wipe (2.3.2 & older, plus now 2.3) --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931865
i realize that its for the lower versions of 2.3 but thats what it's running right now. whoever owned it before hadn't updated it. but either way that answers my question, so ill unlock it
in terms of the usability of the ics ports. I've been using Drew Garen's ports for about two weeks now. Extremely usable and stable. Its almost impossible to tell its an sdk port. His current beta 10 has everything working except for bluetooth and a slightly inaccurate gps. He said that he got a true ics rom working using the galaxy nexus dump so that should be released soonish.
Very good port indeed. However, Im having trouble to make whatsapp work properly. Contacts never shown in the app.... anyone know how to solve this?
thanks for your input guys. i did go through and read quite a bit of pages through the rom thread (worked my way from the back forward), and it seemed like it should be good enough for me. i don't really ever use bluetooth, and gps occasionally, so i should be able to manage with it. and i do use whatsapp, so ill install it tomorrow and see if i figure any solution out to your problem jpvalenz
Hello all, so I have rooted and used a few roms on my phone, but went back to stock so the video recorder worked properly. But the camera issues have taken a back seat. I am a trucker and sit for hours at loading docks, so thought Id get some emulators, and a wii mote and classic controller.
First off my phone is on Rogers in Canada, model sgh-i997R, firmware 2.3.3, kernal 2.6.35.7-i997ruxkg3-cl366622, build number gingerbread.uxkg3
My questions are : Seems the last last OS to support wiimotes is 4.1.2. Am I correct in this?
Through searching, I have found these roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859208&highlight=+4+1+2 which seems dead with broken links.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954527&highlight=+4+1+2 seems ok
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874000&highlight=4+1+2&page=45 which is locked, and last posts are talking bout just barely getting it to boot, doesnt seem too stable.
Am I missing any? I realize its an older OS so my options may be limited.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
Edit: Also going to install a Tab 2 into my car, and will be using phone to tether it to for wifi, so good tethering capabilities is also important in a rom. Any suggestions?

Because from what I am reading, the last OS version to support a wiimote is 4.1.2
4.2 and higher no longer works with a wiimote. I have froyo now but it doesnt support it either. Something about samsungs bluetooth stack doesnt let it connect.

I'd say flash 4.2.2 and try it out for yourself. If it doesn't work, it isn't hard at all to flash back to 4.1..
