So, after digging around for the last month both on XDA and on the Googlewebs, I've not come up with a good way to get a bluetooth keyboard to both pair and connect (As in can be used as an input device) with this particular phone.
So far, I've tried different ROM's from AOSP ROM's to SENSE versions without any luck. I've also tried different kernals that people said worked or said they were AOSP kernals (CM7, Talon, LorDmod). I've used Ninja, MIUI, and Leedroid for the different ROM's I've tried it on.
Currently I'm running MIUI, and have asked the question in the Q&A forum there without any luck at all. So I was hoping XDA as a general can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
Anyone? There has to be someone with any idea of some way to get HID support with a keyboard on the Inspire.
Considering you're using a AOSP rom and kernel... have you tried using a near-stock ROM or at least a Sense ROM? Does it have the same issues?
And what keyboard are you using?

Hid Bluetooth isn't built in to stock or sense roms. It is supposed to be built in to cm7, but have never tried it. You may look into a Bluetooth keyboard that doesn't require hid, I read about it on these forums can't remember where, but it required dl-ing drivers on your phone and it worked.

Thanks! I'll have to look into that. In the mean time, I just received a tablet with Android 3.1 on it, which happens to support the HID keyboard I have. So that'll due me until I can look into the keyboards that don't require HID!

So I recently got Cyanogenmod 9 for my Sensation and I love it so much! However, I do in fact have one concern. Is there any way to fix the audio routing issue? Are there certain ICS Roms out there that don't have this issue? I flashed over from ARHD because of Bluetooth stack issues, that was good enough reason as it is. Now I have a whole-nother problem.
Every time I use an apparently that uses a microphone, the audio gets VERY quiet! Almost inaudible! I know that the Nightly CM builds currently have this issue, but are there any other stable ICS Tom's out there that don't have this issue? I love ICS a lot and don't want to abandon it. If I end up leaving CM until a stable build is released? Fine. But for now, I'd really appreciate some input to see if there is a way around all of this.
Thanks.
I use Ordroid with sense4 and I can confirm that the Mic works fine. Speaker is loud on speaker options. I don't have that issue. It's a Ics rom with sense4. It's a excellent rom however tethering does not work. Other than that It's fast and stable . Lots of customization options , aroma installer, and tweaks. I personally love it. You might want to try it if you can't find a fix.

Does Bluetooth work? How about wifi hotspots? I use Sixaxis controller ALOT and want to make sure I can keep it that way. So Ordroid goes back to the original Sense look?
Bluetooth works on Ordroid, so i suppose six axis should work pretty well without an issue. as for WiFi hotspot, yes it does work, although wired tether doesn't.
the look of sense on it is sense 4, latest sense by hTC...that can be found on the One series.
Hi, at the moment I'm using Valhalla Black FB. I was wondering if there was a rom that would change the way my phone communicates via bluetooth. I play a lot of emulators and I would like to use a controller. I've done a good amount of research on google and xda and couldn't find anything. I even looked for an app.
Thank you for any help
Did you read the emulators thread I posted in the themes and apps forum? It's got a guide for getting an emulator to work with a wiimote via bluetooth
It's a fact that many Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S 4G, won't connect to certain bluetooth devices while using ROMs based on the stock firmware (such as Valhalla Black). AOSP-based ROMs, such as CyanogenMod or any of our ICS ROMs, don't have these limitations, so flashing any of those should get your gamepad working.
Thanks! I must have skimmed over your post. I was thinking of trying out cm9 but I haven't looked into how stable it was. I really like the rom I'm using atm.
Has anyone had any luck tracking down a decent ROM (much preferably one as close to vanilla android as possible) that actually still has working MHL? I've done a good bit of searching through most of the individual ROM threads and it seems like this is something that is hardly ever mentioned. I realize that it's missing in CM, much to my sadness as that has been my best experience with a custom ROM thus far. need something that works with my appradio 2!
I'm on $droyd$'s jellybean nonsense build 6 right now and it's not bad, but still too HTC-y for my tastes (plus i'm on hboot 1.14.0004 right now so no wifi for me )

Dark jelly s edition supports OTG im using bubba kernel along with this... Will check the MHL availability and will post back...
Cheers
This interests me too. In my test of different ROMs I found that trick droid and viper work but make the phone freeze after the mhl cord is removed. Black bean, avatar, jellybam and codename lungo don't work with mhl. None of the awesome cm based ones are supposed to work with hdmi
I keep going back to nonsense which has since been closed. I only have version 4 and version 6 seems to be unavailable for download. Now after almost 5 months as my daily driver I started having Bluetooth issues and I have to load music via USB from the recovery since that must have been removed from it.

I got the same results

I also have opened thead in Q&A, to see if Torxx can help us with trickdroid 10.x.x
Hello all, so I have rooted and used a few roms on my phone, but went back to stock so the video recorder worked properly. But the camera issues have taken a back seat. I am a trucker and sit for hours at loading docks, so thought Id get some emulators, and a wii mote and classic controller.
First off my phone is on Rogers in Canada, model sgh-i997R, firmware 2.3.3, kernal 2.6.35.7-i997ruxkg3-cl366622, build number gingerbread.uxkg3
My questions are : Seems the last last OS to support wiimotes is 4.1.2. Am I correct in this?
Through searching, I have found these roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859208&highlight=+4+1+2 which seems dead with broken links.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954527&highlight=+4+1+2 seems ok
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874000&highlight=4+1+2&page=45 which is locked, and last posts are talking bout just barely getting it to boot, doesnt seem too stable.
Am I missing any? I realize its an older OS so my options may be limited.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
Edit: Also going to install a Tab 2 into my car, and will be using phone to tether it to for wifi, so good tethering capabilities is also important in a rom. Any suggestions?

Because from what I am reading, the last OS version to support a wiimote is 4.1.2
4.2 and higher no longer works with a wiimote. I have froyo now but it doesnt support it either. Something about samsungs bluetooth stack doesnt let it connect.

I'd say flash 4.2.2 and try it out for yourself. If it doesn't work, it isn't hard at all to flash back to 4.1..
Hi guys,
I am curious to know if the kernel used in Sense ROMs (stock, ElementalX, BeastMode) be made to work in the CM/AOKP roms?
Here's my problem - I personally like the look and feel of CM. However, one big problem is the fact that there is a lot of lost functionality in these roms as compared to sense roms.
Now, I dont mean things like transparent status bars, etc - but core features like HDMI out, headset buttons, usb tethering, battery life, etc.
The focus of the developers is also around cool new features and not around fixing hardware issues. For example someone posted yesterday that wired headset buttons have been broken all the wsy from kernel 3.0 to 3.4.
Im wondering if one can leverage the fully working Sense kernels to run CM.

Sense kernels cannot run be used to run cm10 or later based roms. IF you like the look and feel of stock android but still want all the working features why don't you download one of the sense roms and desense it? I know viperxl offers desense option in the aroma installer.

Yes - I thought about it, but I like the CM roms for all the added functionality (remote wipes, themes, etc.). Also, in the longer term Kitkat is only going to be possible on our phones via the AOSP/CM route.
I wonder if there is any possibility to fund a bounty to fix hardware compatibility for all the AOSP/CM based roms.

What hardware compatibility do you mean? I don't know whether a bounty is going to work, the devs we have working on these ROMs are already doing their absolute best to bring us the best software possible. Also, some of these issues are caused at an upstream level and are completely out of their control.
