Ok so everyone. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

My dumbest self took the 2.20 ota last night and realized shortly after that I had done a no no. Lol. Anyways , so am I SOL until the exploit is found or can I downgrade. Pretty sure I did that on my last HTC I had. And by the way. I'm not a noob, I am experienced with multiple brands of android phones.

If you never unlocked your boot loader, then you're stuck with no option but to wait for an exploit.
This has been covered in multiple threads and the answer never changes

Haha sorry guys. Guess I've been around the skyrocket threads for too long. You should see how many dupe threads there is there. Thanks for the discipline. Hah. And well this sucks. Hopefully the can even find an exploit. It's been what a good month month and a half now.. Shiit. Usually takes a couple days from some that I've seen...

So you say you're not a noob yet you make one of the noobiest mistakes possible AND you post a new thread without searching... Definitely getting the noob vibe here

Lol shiiiit, stop baggin on me dude. Brand new to this forum for the hox. And a 17 year old kid who knows his way blindfolded through adb and has had multiple androids over 4 years I'd say I'm not. I'm just lazy haha. It's pretty funny when you walk into att and they know you right off the bat and an employee asks you to root their phone.
Edit.. and I just can't believe we haven't found an exploit when I'm seeing threads all over from early early august. Wtf HTC really?

I advise you to take your licks and move on.

6 dumbest mistakes in 100 words or less
Seriously, the best op I've ever seen for examples of what NOT to do.
Btw, adb isn't exactly an extravagant programming language, but. Basic command line interface. Kudos for learning but we could care less what you say AFTER an OP like that. I'm still trying to figure out why the hell you would post this without building yourself a bomb shelter to stow away in while the bombs dropped. Surely you saw them coming and didn't believe claiming self stupidity was going to protect you:screwy:

Bombard HTC with multitasking complaints

HTC is listening, they released an update for our wi-fi problem and fixed a few more bugs. We all need to repeatedly email HTC and post on their FB wall. They have to fix this.

Seriously acting like dicks won't make the fix come any faster they have multiple phones they are creating updates for and they are developing new ones as week speak for next year and they are probably working on the next version of sense. Why don't you fix it yourself if it's that big of a deal.

This is the wrong attitude to take. If my phone is shipped with software deficiencies, I expect the company that made it to fix them. Nobody said they were going to act like dicks. I for one have been nothing but respectful in my communications with htc.

Just gotta say I agree. Flooding their inboxes only slows their ability to help. While I do agree we need to contact them about this issue, we don't need to spam them like the OP encourages.
They are most likely already working on the issue.
Well I gotta say, this is not the way to go about things and this certainly isnt the type of threads we need on XDA...

Actually, about a year ago there was a petition against HTC for them to become more dev friendly... They agreed after a while. But then again they locked the bootloader on us and kept s-on anyway for this phone.

Htcdev is just Window dressing. They should not have locked bootloaders in the first place. Android is supposed to be open. I'm sick of jumping through hoops.

I can agree and disagree
With the option of an s-off bootloader to the regular user can be disastrous. Let's face it people can be idiots and they would blame it on HTC when they eff up their phones
With htcdev unlock as it is, its pretty much impossible to brick permanently with most phones. With s off however one simple mistake can be disastrous

Simple answer:
Yes if you buy the phone from someone who has an older one running 1.85 or earlier.
No if you buy the phone new from ATT, etc and it comes with 2.20. The 1.85 stock is getting used up and will be unavailable soon so my advise if your buying a new one make the rep turn it on so you can "test" it and look at the software number. If its 2.20 your screwed for now. More than likely the rep wont pop open every HOX for you to look at so if the first one is 2.20 leave and go to another store. If you get lucky and get one on 1.85 root it as soon as possible as you can only delay the update to 2.20 so long (its forced). You cant have a stock phone and keep old firmware they wont let you!!

Guess I'm confused as to how he is a troll considering most of his posts are on the captivate forums, an att phone. Could it be possible that he is looking for an upgrade to his outdated hardware?
I just figured, after being a member for a couple years, and hundreds of posts, he most likely knows that a retarded question like that is probably answered in the forums many times. Before it became a retarded question.

Yup. HTC really botched the naming on this phone. It's like Hardees and the Six Dollar Burger. It is both a burger size and a menu item. I've ended up with the wrong order a couple times because of that. Just like people brick their phones confusing the One X international and the One X from AT&T.
I think it would help if they'd sticky the 3.18 method in this forum. I had to do a bit of digging and read through quite a few threads to make sure I was reading the right info for rooting my freshly repaired phone and getting s-off. I know it's still in the hack and chop no one-click phase, but I'm sure the guys asking feel like I do and prefer stickies because it gives the post the feeling that the info is the most accurate available and that's where the geniuses who cook up these exploits will be posting.

I'm surprised they haven't yet. The dev might just need to PM a mod and ask for it to be sticky.

Alright, guys/gals...

This post isn't any where near cellphone related... I just need to get this out there for my family.
First off, I'm not looking for any type of donation or anything of the sort.
Recently my mother has had some really bad back problems. She has been going to the doctor to try and get things fixed and they decided to go ahead and get surgery done. The date of the surgery was supposed to be August 12th of this year. This has been set in stone for close to s month now.
Well, yesterday, BCBS sent a letter saying they have denied coverage on the surgery due to degenerative disks in her back... She has been off work for about 2 months because of her back.
I chose to post this story because the community here on XDA is incredible.
The only thing I am asking for is prayers or support. Ask all friends/family, dead or alive.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, if you did..

Edit: the doc called the house today... He said he will sit down with the BCBS rep tomorrow morning with my mother and do a peer to peer talk with him. Goodluck to you and your family.
So, I got home from work just now and had this note on my bed:
"Chris, the doctors sat down with the BCBS rep today. Keep in mind that the rep was a retired pediatrician. The docs explained everything but, since a pediatrician knows everything there is to know about spinal fusion, they have denied surgery."
Don't know what we are going to do now... But I thank each and everyone of you so, so much for your prayers/support. It really means more than you would think. My sister has posted my mothers story on the BCBS FaceBook. She read that someone had a similar situation and got enough likes that BCBS we t ahead and withdrew their denial and approved the operation. So I think that's what we have left..
Again, thank you to each and everyone of you...
