nexus s i9020A JB update, help a doctor out - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I apologize since I am pretty sure this has been covered elsewhere, however I am a physician who took the plunge into the Android world and have been very happy. HOwever, Google has been letting me down with the updates and I am not so super tech-savvy as to do any kind of rooting of my device. I want to upgrade my Nexus S 2.3.4 (ATT model) to ICS or JB or both and tried to follow the directions at this website by erik thauvin (steps below)
I have been unsuccessful so far and was hoping maybe that I was just missing a step in between or maybe there was another way to force-update without having to delete my entire phone (I have many contacts on there I need for work). Any help would be most appreciated!
THese are the steps he outlines at that website:
Power off.
Remove the SIM.
Power on.
Turn on Wi-Fi and connect to your network (if not connected already).
Go to the System settings.
In Language & input change the language to English (United Kingdom).
In Apps select the ALL tab.
Find and open the Google Services Framework.
Tap on the Clear data button and confirm.
Reboot.
Go to the System settings.
Select About phone.
Select Software update.
The package should be downloading, wait...
Once the package is verified, you'll be offered an option to restart and install. Don't!
Turn Airplane mode on by pressing and holding the Power button.
Now, select the Restart & Install button.
Am I supposed to put the SD card back in, or are my widgets or apps holding up the process by slowing down reboot? Any advice?

Yes put your Sim card back in then go into settings about phone system update & press check now it should update you to ice cream sandwich then after you update to that you should be able to jellybean

Your simcard can be left out until your phone is ready, it is not doing anything. Follow the steps and you'll succeed. Just keep pressing check update until it appears.
As for your contacts, they are synced to your Gmail account so you'll not lose them if your phone gets wiped

When I rooted my phone or flashed a ROM. I signed back into my Gmail Account and my contacts returned. Make sure you sync your contact book with your gmail account. Check your gmail and make sure they are synced.
Also my applications that I previously had, returned as well.
As for rooting your device, while reading a text-format guide. You might benefit from watching a video, to be sure you're doing the correct thing. There should be a video out there for your device, it's quite or (was) a popular device.
Good luck, man.
Edit: I'm sorry, if you're not rooting your device, try to look around for a video guide anyway.

He didn't want to root. Even though now a days its just one mouse click and it's finished

I noticed after I posted.

Thanks so much for the helpful tips, but I keep running through the steps and all I get is my system update telling me that it is "currently up to date"? I have 2.3.4 so I do not have a "check now" button available on that screen. I am just not sure what I am doing wrong as I am following all the steps as they are written and even trying to do them quickly (or as quickly as possible). Any ideas? Thanks again for all the helpful advice!

Can I suggest you root your phone and flash a custom rom? If you'd be interested I can get the good links for you to finally get you phone rooted!

Yes. I was going to suggest you root your phone and flash a stock jellybean rom or something.

No need to root - just do a "fastboot oem unlock"
You won't be able to "update" with AT&T - they don't acknowledge the Nexus S.
You have to get your computer to see your nexus phone as a device when it is in boot loader mode. The drivers for this may be here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?5a7gou9droidi53
To get "Fastboot" working, you won't have to download and install the entire Android dev kit... I think I got mine working with a couple dll files.
Once you can run (from a dos prompt): fastboot oem unlock you are good to go with an upgrade procedure
You are ready to upgrade to JellyBean. Don't even bother with ICS, as there are many fixes in JB that are SO worth it. Get a stock rom for the I9020A, and follow the steps.
Good luck!

The officially unofficial Tiamat Moray ROM Q&A Thread

This thread is an attempt to help out the Tiamat Developers by answering the frequently asked questions in one consolidated thread. This thread should also be helpful to those who either cannot use the search feature or are having a hard time figuring out the correct search terms to find what they are looking for. If you have suggestions or added questions/answers feel free to reply and I will update the OP.
NOTE: I am not a developer. All of the information in this thread is from other members who have helped me out or information I found in the XDA forums. I do not take credit for any of the great work that has been done on this ROM and I will point back to the original answer when possible. I am only trying to help lessen the burden on the developers so they can spend more time getting us the best features. Hopefully you find this helpful as well.
I've flashed this ROM and now I get update notifications. Should I accept the update? How do I stop these notifications?
No, you should never accept an OTA upgrade when using any custom ROM/Kernel. This could result in severe problems. Your best bet is to be patient and give the developers time to react. If the update is worthwhile I am sure they will roll it out pretty quickly.
To get rid of the notifications flash Mod pack 3 as noted here.
OK I made the mistake of accepting the OTA update and now my Xoom won't boot. What can I do?
okantomi said:
Can you make it reboot by pressing volume up and power at the same time and holding? If it reboots, wait about 3 seconds once you see the dual core logo and then tap volume down you shoud see android recovery, then tap up to choose it. I hope you did a nandroid backup. If not, you can try and get fastboot by tapping volume down sooner after it reboots.

From this thread.
With this ROM certain websites don't load correctly or I can't get to the mobile version of a site.
This ROM by default sets the User Agent String to "desktop". If you want to revert to the stock settings flash either Mod pack 1 or 2 depending which version of Moray you are running. Look here.
I flashed this ROM and now when I click links in email or my file explorer the screen just dims and nothing happens.
This is a bug in Android 3.2 and not specific to this ROM. To solve this, simply ensure auto-rotate is enabled and rotate the device from landscape to portrait and back to landscape. The app chooser window should appear allowing you to choose which app to open the selected file.
I just flashed this ROM and the speed is amazing, so I OC'd it to 1.7GHz cuz I want more and I am now stuck in a boot loop. This worked for others why not me?
The Xoom was only specified to run at 1.0 GHz, anything beyond that is a gift. Due to part-to-part variation not everyone's Xoom will be stable at the same speed. Yes some people are able to run at 1.7 GHz, but many cannot. For your specific Xoom try out the various speeds, but do NOT click "Set on Boot". This way if it crashes it will revert back to stock speed and you will be able to boot. Once you are satisfied with a speed then feel free to enable "Set on Boot". Before you do so I would suggest making a nandroid backup so you can restore just in case.
How do you get out of this boot-loop? The only way I know of is to boot into recovery and restore a nandroid backup if you have one or perform a full wipe if you do not.
I updated to the latest CWM and I cannot find the zip card or I get "get error: E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)."
Latest is not always the best, for the Xoom you need to either use ClockworkMod 3.2.0.0 (R4C) or CMW Rogue Recovery v1.1.1
After flashing this ROM the Motorola icon gets distorted during boot up, is that a problem?
Basically it is not a problem. This kernel has a patch provided by NVidia which causes the distortion during boot. It does not cause any problems after it boots.
Is there a way to get the stock WiFi and Battery icons?
Yes
How do I boot into recovery without ADB or my PC attached?
There are a couple methods.
1) The latest Tiamat ROM includes this if you press and hold the power button. Just pick what you want and hit OK.
2) Download and install "Quick Boot" from the market. It gives you the above options as well as others when you run the app.
3) Turn the Xoom on, wait ~2 seconds after your see the Dual Core logo, then press the volume down key. In the upper left corner it should say "Android Recovery", then press the volume up key to select it.
How do I get started? Any good guides?
There are several guides that are pretty good. The best one I have found and personally used is here.
The Xoom Heaven thread found here is also a good place to start for all sorts of information.
If you have another question please feel free to post to this thread. If you are having a problem or have a question it is likely that someone else along the lines will have the same problem or question. I will continue to update this OP with the list of F.A.Q.s.
Additional Q&As
After installing this ROM I am having issues with the market not finding all of my apps or apps are giving errors when trying to install them.
See this post for one possible solution.
One more for good measure...
HuckFinn, I think you have covered most of the hot issues. Great job!
Stickied. Thanks for posting this, and Solarnz for giving me the heads up to do so.

darn you... I earned 1/2 my posts responding to the "why does my screen dim" question... now I'll have nothing to say!
i performed a factory reset from the os-> settings and once again performed a wipe/factory reset from the cwm recovery but still can't get back to the initial setup screen (where you enter your google a/c, etc)
any idea?
Thanks!!

Why does Market show up in USD even though my locale is set to UK, my language is English British along with my keyboard layout?
Ive had boot loops twice. Both times i could get into recovery but could not get backup to restore . kept getting cant read /sdcard. also cant reinstall update .zip becuase the sd card wont mount. I have only gotten back in by letting it sit powered off for a bit.
any ideas?
should i adb a stock image and start again?
should i flash a different recovery?

What version of recovery is installed now? If you have the version that doesn't recognize your external sdcard you should certainly flash a compatible recovery version through fastboot.

Guess I should have read the thread before posting here, sorry for being a troll.
I tried this ROM on my 4G Xoom, but it left me without 4G or 3G (wifi only). Any way to get this working, or do I have to wait for an update?
I did try activating the network in settings, but it never connected even half an hour.
Thanks to steps mentioned by user 'LordDeath' in another thread and a bit of experimenting with a rooted 4G Xoom and a friends 3G Xoom running Moray, there seems to be a remedy for those who are having issues with the market compatibility issues as well as missing apps. I did not activate until attempting to sign in to the market and had missing apps and compatibility issues. I simply did a full wipe & reset and made sure the full activation went through in set up then let it automatically start restoring. I took a peek in the market after a a minute and all my apps were back with no compatibility issues. Here is a copy of his original post and mine but the last step was not needed for me.

Translated into English it means "Error while processing the purchase". It was a free app, btw.
To solve this issue I did the following:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Active the device during the wizard on the first boot with my Google account
3. Restore the nandroid backup of the official 3.1 ROM
Therefore it seems that the market servers check your device-compatibility only during the activation process at the first startup.

"This fixed everything for my friend running Moray and even corrected the issues on my 4G Xoom..."
I should add that though this fixes the issue, if you change your pixel density you may run into similar issues but can correct it by setting it back to 160 before going into the market.

HTC Hero Bricked - Please Help

Hi guys, I'm new here.
I have a problem... And I have tried very hard to find a fix over the past few days, but no result. So here I am.
I have a HTC Hero, which was running Android v2.1-update
I rooted it, and used a corrupted rom.
Now I cannot use it. When I start the phone, it takes ages to load, then I am presented with a strange unlock screen. I unlock it, and I am presented with a white HTC-Logo screen. If I wait long enough, a menu appears asking me which update to apply. I select the first, and I am given a choice of 3 languages. I select English, and hit Next. This is where I am stuck. I have an o2 simcard (which works fine) and it doesn't detect it. It keeps asking me to insert the simcard with an animation on how to do this.
I'm not sure if this could be called "Bricked" as I don't really know the meaning of the term, but either way, a Brick is the only thing it's good for right now.
I am desperate for some help. I have just bought it and am feeling kinda sick now. I learned my lesson. Don't Root!
Thanks in advance!
Well..."don't root" is not really a lesson, just when you do something next time, you have to make sure that you are doing everything correct, and following 100% the guides that you find here in XDA..
My Hero is rooted since I bought it...
Anyway, Do you have recovery installed? Amon RA or clockworks?
To find it out, just turn off you phone and press Home+Off button for a few second, then it will go into recovery.
From there you can copy another rom and flash it.
I am currently using Elelinux 3.6, but you can find many others.
By the way, which rom did u flash?
Hi, thanks for the fast reply
I cannot get onto the homescreen to install any apps at all, so all I got to work with is the recovery menu. Fast Boot and SimLock.
I installed what I now know to be a new lockscreen, which was about 2.5mb. So obviously not right now, but I rushed into it without looking things over properly.
I might be able to fix it, if the simcard was detected. It stops me at that point during recovery.
I rooted the device using a terminal app, but as the data has now been wiped, the app doesnt exist. And I cant reinstall it again because I cannot get to the homescreen.
You don't need to install any app, I don't understand if you have recovery installed or not.
Just press home+off button for a few seconds when your phone is OFF.
What do u see?
That gives me the red ! sign, and I can get a menu up by pressing volUp+off
This menu has Fast Boot and SimLock.
Yes, that is the normal bootloader, that means you don't have recovery installed.
You could try to unroot your phone by install the HTC sync software on your PC first, then use it to reinstall the stock RUU 2.1, that you can find on the HTC website:
http://www.htc.com/nl/help/htc-hero/#download (change the language)
Once you have done that, you should be able to root it again if you want, but make sure you will install recovery this time.
Look for the guides in the Hero forum, or you can use this:
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/threads/how-to-root-the-2-1-ruu-or-ota-update-for-the-hero.1930/
Hi. I found this a while ago, and tried it. But I cannot enable USB Debug, as I cannot do ANYTHING on the device...
I just ends up giving me a 170 error, always.
Are u talking about the HTC sync driver?
Yes. I think so.
RUU_Herrange_UK_2.73.61.66_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
It starts a utility up which tells me to make sure the device is connected via usb to my pc, check battery is 30% or higher and something else.
Then it tells me to wait, and returns a 170 error.
Then you should check the HTC Hero forum or Google for any suggestions, I am sure people had the same problem in the past.
I am afraid I can't help you more than this, I am no developer..
Okay, thanks anyways
I have already raked Google and help forums, coming here is my last resourt.
Keep searching, I am sure there is a way to fix it, I have read so many things about the Hero in this two years, unfortunately I forgot most of it...

[DEV & CWM Recovery for Pantech Crossover]

Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong section. Forgive me if I'm not allowed to post here yet. Just forgive me in general. I don't want to be banned or anything like that. I'm Extremely interested in android development.
I made a working port of ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.8 for the Pantech Crossover. I wanted to do this before I started tinkering around with porting cm7.2. So that I would have a way to backup, restore, and flash new roms, etc... Or else when I make a noob mistake like yesterday and have a non booting phone resulting in having to flash my old boot.img with fastboot...anyways..
DANGER: DRAGONS AHEAD
FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
The method I used to flash the recovery was:
1)adb push recovery.img /sdcard/recovery.img
2)flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
3)repeat step 2 (for some reason it gave me a read error out of memory the first time)
Here's the link to the custom recovery:
http :// dl. dropbox .com /u/20070520/ recovery.img
I know I'm not supposed to post links yet. Remove spaces
I just hope that there are others with the Pantech Crossover that are interested in this and the possible future development of custom roms.
Also if anyone knows if there is a good way to get ahold of koush let me know, so I can give him what he needs to hopefully add this to Rom Manager. I couldn't message him on github because he doesn't have an email set up with it
And while I'm at it. Here's the method for rooting your crossover. I'm not going to provide the files since they can easily be found with a google search.
1: Find a copy of gingerbreak.apk and copy it to your sd card
2: Enable usb debugging and allow installation of non market apps
3: Install gingerbreak
4: Root device with Gingerbreak
5: You can uninstall Gingerbreak when its completed.

Thanks so much for this! I have a friend with a crossover and is always looking for my help with making it work better. I realize this is a newer thread, I was wondering how things were coming along with CM? Anything I can do to help perhaps?
crap i need a rom to fix my crossover the buttons are no longer mapped after a hard reset. please help.
Slow
Well, it's been slow goings so far. I downloaded the open source files for the p8000 and it looks like they just built the original rom from a generic build. I've been trying to get a more customized build setup but I need to do some more reading so far. One of the problems is that instead of an akmd(2) binary for orientation and compass it uses three separate modules. Plus the hci_attach is a bit different as well and so is the bluetooth. So that significantly hampers the ease of even a basic port.
As far as the gentleman with the question about a rom to fix your device. The best I can do right now is to upload a clockwork mod backup after I do a factory reset. I don't get much time to work on this between my wife and daughter.
Also, do you have adb access to your device? Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to adb push the correct keymapping files back to your phone.
You say a hard reset messed up your mappings? What problems were you experiencing prior to the reset?
Crossover
Hello,
I just wanted to let you know that there are people watching your thread. I am very interested in this as my parents have Crossovers and have recently rooted and unlocked them (well, I did) and set them up to work on Net10.
The only issue I've noted is that there are some failures, like the Market refusing to install apps no matter what is done. I'm going to install your ClockworkMod in hopes that later it might be useful.
I realize there isn't a large development scene for the P8k yet, and maybe there won't be but it's always a great hope that those with the capabilities might take pity. I was almost thinking that it might be my foray into actually looking deeper at the code than the small bit I've done.
Kind Regards,

I haven't had any problems with the market refusing to install apps but I do sometimes run across the no connection error with the market when on wifi. Although I did notice this before I rooted my crossover. Sometimes disabling and re-enabling the wifi helps. I really do think it is a bug somewhere in the original rom.
As far as the custom recovery image. Everything seems to be working pretty good. I use it mainly for restoring previous backups. I would say I've restored my backup at least a dozen times. Occasionally it states there was an error restoring .android secure but I have yet to track that down. I need to double check the recovery.fstab to make sure I have everything set right for the mount points.

I'm actually completely stuck at this point. I'm rooted, unlocked, different carrier, APN set correctly. I can access data and voice -- but it just hangs at "Downloading..." on the market. If I factory reset it works initially but after reboot it fails. I'm not quite sure why this occurs and if it is just this phone or a side-effect of using it on a different carrier.
Strangely Wi-fi doesn't resolve it.

I'll give your recovery a run and let you know, if you manage CM7 let me know I know it's a big undertaking. Thanks for the response.
Market Error
As far as the Android Market hanging. I see a few references to it being cause by the .android_secure folder becoming corrupted on the sd card.
One temporary fix suggest moving all the installed apk's back to the phone memory and deleting the .android_secure folder. Then rebooting and moving those apps back to the sd card.
That seems like some wasted time if it doesn't happen to work. I would just turn the phone off, remove the sdcard, and restart (granted any apps that were moved to the sdcard wont work until it is reinserted.) Then I would try to download and install an app. If that works then shutdown, insert sd, and reboot.
I'm really curious if the problems with .android_secure that you and i are having aren't just more bugs in the original rom.
Just as a poster above me said, I am watching this thread and really appreciate everything you are doing. Thanks again.
Well I appreciate the support. I just hope to be able to offer a rom sometime soon. Unfortunately I won't have anymore free time till Tuesday

Bricked?
I tried to use the pantech provided gingerbread update this morning. It got about an eighth of the way through and failed. It instructed me to reboot while holding volume up and home and power. That put it in software updating mode. I tried the upgrade 3 more times, it failed at the same point each time. Now my phone is stuck in S/W Updating mode and I can't seem to get it out. I've tried pressing volume up and down for 10 seconds, and pressing volume down and home while powering on, nothing seems to make a difference. Any thoughts about how to at least get me back to froyo?

Huawei Honor U8860 Android Screw Up

Hi Guys.
I'm at my wit's end with a new Huawei Honor I received for Christmas. It comes with Gingerbread 2.3.6 preloaded but you can upgrade to ICS 4.0.3. It's my first android phone so I didn't really know what I was doing but I decided I'd upgrade.
It said I could upgrade my phone up to ICS 4.0.3 from Gingerbread 2.3.6 so I was keen as it seemed like the obvious choice. I didn't download any custom ROM or anything like that, nor did I root the phone because
A) I didn't know how
and
B) I didn't want to make a bollocks of my first smartphone 2 days after getting it.
I was also wary about where I got these upgrades from and so only used upgrade files from the official Huawei site. First off I tried using the ICS upgrade offered on the Huawei website for my phone.
That's where I ran into problems. Every update (bar the wrong one, in keeping with my luck) gets to about 25% (There's no percentage bar, only a pink line) and says update failed and I have no choice other than to take out the battery and restart the phone. It doesn't do the phone any damage but it doesn't update either.
The update that actually worked is for a non-camera version of my phone that I didn't even know existed. I must have mixed up the two while downloading. That explains why the camera doesn't work but I don't know why my contacts deleted (Backed up prior to upgrade) or my cellular internet service is completely gone.
I tried downgrading back to 2.3.6 with the official Huawei file again but ran into the same UPDATE FAILED! problems as with the installation of the correct ICS file.
Downloading process was;
(1) Downloading the file to my computer
(2) Unzipping it
(3) Transferring across to the phone by USB into a folder entitled "dload"
(4) Going into Settings > Storage > Software Upgrade > SD Card Upgrade
The phone then restarts before getting to around 25% complete and inevitably failing.
I just want it back working on Gingerbread. If it can work on ICS then great I'm not too pushed. I just want to be able to take photos and tweet/check football scores on the go again. I'd like my contacts back too but I'd say that's a lost cause at this stage. Just annoyed that I made such a mess of it trying to upgrade when there was nothing wrong with it in the first place.
I tried linking to the download files but as a new user I can't external link. All the files are the U8860 files from huawei device dot com though.
Any help you guys and gals could give me would be very much appreciated.

I think you'll have to use this downgrade patch first, before you can go back to gingerbread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33000395&highlight=b930+downgrade#post33000395
after you download the upgrade patch, its just the same as installing any other firmware.
1) copy the dload folder to sd card
2) go to settings and disable fast boot
3) shut down phone
4) start the phone while holding the + and - and power button at the same time
if you did all this, then normally you'll get a screen that says firmware upgrade. If this is finished, download the official gingerbread rom or ice cream sandwich rom from the huawei device site, and do the process all over again.
and if you really want ice cream sandwich, I recommend to follow this after you have your gingerbread working again:

Thank you very much. I could really have used you last night. Unfortunately I followed the advice of someone else who seemed like they knew what they were talking about on a different forum. I rooted the phone and was told to replace a file in the image folder to get cwm. I did everything he said to and now I can only access pink screen although my device is not recognized on the computer despite downloading the abd drivers. I get an error message reading "Image signature verify fail" A similar problem has come up a few times on a couple of different forums on here but none of the solutions suggested have worked for me.
I know that ye lads are developers not a free help service but everyone on the other forums suggested I ask here as you guys mess around with mod ROMs so much getting back to stock would be child's play.
Basically now I'm stuck with:
A rooted Huawei U8860
An "Image signature verify fail" warning
ICS software that is for a slightly different make to mine causing bugs
Access only to pink screen
No recovery mode
A phone that is not recognised when connected to my computer by USB in pink screen mode
I've tried searching a good few terms such as "Huawei U8860 firmware update fail" "ABD not recognised by PC" "Huawei Honor ABD files" all of which have brought me no joy.
Like I said I know yous like modifying ROMs and not helping Android noobs who can't even read what they're downloading but I'm really stuck here. The closest place to my house that is certified to fix Huawei phones is a good 20+ miles away and they want €30 with no guarantee they'll be able to fix it. I'm a music student I just can't afford it. Thank you again and hopefully you can help me a bit further with this nightmare. It's been like this since a couple of days after Christmas.

hmm, I think I can help you with that.
you'll need an SD card reader, but basically every laptop has one nowadays. so, if you can access your SD card on the pc,
1)put the dload folder of the ICS non-camera version you used on the SD card
2)then put it back in the phone
3)hold the + and - volume buttons and power button in until the firmware installation starts
if that worked, you'll be able to do the steps I said earlier to go back to gingerbread.
good luck!

Nice! I'm sure newcommers will appreciate this post a ton. Just a note, the exploit WILL work on 13a, but it WILL NOT work on 14b. If someone has the 14b firmware, they aren't screwed - simply use the KDZ restore to downgrade to either 13a or 12a. Note: when doing this, data WILL NOT be wiped - your phone will have a ton of force closes. I recommend in this case to try to get to the backup in settings and do a factory reset because the FC's will not let you get to terminal emulator to do the exploit. Factory reset to start fresh, then enable debugging, etc.

Nice, glad to help. Don't forget, your phone will likely go cray with all the force closes so you may want to just factory reset after the KDZ completes. Also, if/when you do that, after it is back to the point where you set the phone up, just get past the initial setup as quickly as possible then put the phone in airplane mode - this will keep it from trying to load the 300 apps as well as prevent Verizon's bloat crap from downloading Candcrush, garbage, [insert unwanted app here], etc. Then just enable usb debugging, install terminal emulator, and you're good to proceed with the exploit.
Personally (and I DO NOT recommend this), I've gone back and forth so many times I've lost count between stock/unroot and root. I am actually able to restore a backup from right after installing TWRP and rebooting by jumping straight into TWRP after installing TWRP image and formatting data. It has worked a number of times now.
I really only need root access for adblocking and ViperAudio.
Thanks again OP!

You should make a video or guide about debloating apps, there are plenty out there but sometimes people are really wanting to know about their specific phone model.

I think I could use some help. I got all the files flashed and rebooted the phone and now my screen is flickering and freaking out and the phone is constantly vibrating. everything went well through all the steps until I typed it fastboot reboot.
EDIT: Got back into fastboot and retyped typed the last few lines and I think I got that fixed. I think I'm still having a slight problem. Phone vibration wont turn off now while phone is running. ideas?
EDIT: Vibration turns off when I turn the screen off so I guess I got that semi fixed. Is that normal?

@LASERWOLF452 Hi. I am using an HTC 10 on Verizon. I'm thinking about buying a refurbished LG V20, and would like to know if I can just swap my HTC 10 SIM card into a V20 and be good to go on Verizon? After that I would want to root the V20 following your guide here.

Yes it will work
After unlocking the bootloader using the dirty santa tutorial, if I reinstall KDZ stock for my cell phone, I still have the bootloader unlocked so I can later install Custom and root?
