this post will have other methods added to it so i dont have more then one post everywhere
(please note i am running on VS99512A downgraded from 13A. i do not know if this will work on 13A or 14B and have no plans to test this. please ask others, if i see it is possible to root 13A and 14B or later i would not mind to make videos. i make a downgrade from 13A to 12A for those who needs help, just install LGUP and uppercut and it should work fine from there

Nice! I'm sure newcommers will appreciate this post a ton. Just a note, the exploit WILL work on 13a, but it WILL NOT work on 14b. If someone has the 14b firmware, they aren't screwed - simply use the KDZ restore to downgrade to either 13a or 12a. Note: when doing this, data WILL NOT be wiped - your phone will have a ton of force closes. I recommend in this case to try to get to the backup in settings and do a factory reset because the FC's will not let you get to terminal emulator to do the exploit. Factory reset to start fresh, then enable debugging, etc.

Nice, glad to help. Don't forget, your phone will likely go cray with all the force closes so you may want to just factory reset after the KDZ completes. Also, if/when you do that, after it is back to the point where you set the phone up, just get past the initial setup as quickly as possible then put the phone in airplane mode - this will keep it from trying to load the 300 apps as well as prevent Verizon's bloat crap from downloading Candcrush, garbage, [insert unwanted app here], etc. Then just enable usb debugging, install terminal emulator, and you're good to proceed with the exploit.
Personally (and I DO NOT recommend this), I've gone back and forth so many times I've lost count between stock/unroot and root. I am actually able to restore a backup from right after installing TWRP and rebooting by jumping straight into TWRP after installing TWRP image and formatting data. It has worked a number of times now.
I really only need root access for adblocking and ViperAudio.
Thanks again OP!

I subscribed, good stuff! Thanks for putting all that together, I'm sure it will be helpful.
You should make a video or guide about debloating apps, there are plenty out there but sometimes people are really wanting to know about their specific phone model.

I think I could use some help. I got all the files flashed and rebooted the phone and now my screen is flickering and freaking out and the phone is constantly vibrating. everything went well through all the steps until I typed it fastboot reboot.
EDIT: Got back into fastboot and retyped typed the last few lines and I think I got that fixed. I think I'm still having a slight problem. Phone vibration wont turn off now while phone is running. ideas?
EDIT: Vibration turns off when I turn the screen off so I guess I got that semi fixed. Is that normal?

@LASERWOLF452 Hi. I am using an HTC 10 on Verizon. I'm thinking about buying a refurbished LG V20, and would like to know if I can just swap my HTC 10 SIM card into a V20 and be good to go on Verizon? After that I would want to root the V20 following your guide here.

Yes you can just put your Verizon Sim card from your HTC 10 in a Verizon or Unlocked V20 and all will work.

After unlocking the bootloader using the dirty santa tutorial, if I reinstall KDZ stock for my cell phone, I still have the bootloader unlocked so I can later install Custom and root?

(MOTOROLA HAS RELEASED ALL THE IMAGES FOR ALL COUNTRY VERSIONS OF THE XOOM RECENTLY MAKING THIS A UNIVERSAL TUTORIAL AT THIS POINT)
Listen I notice recently there is a flood of issues with the xoom using different unrooting methods. I personally will say to unroot your device just bring it back to stock images. Its the safest method with the other methods if you do not know what you are doing you will find yourself sending your device to motorola for warranty repairs.
Here is a short and sweet way to unroot your xoom. by doing this you will lose your data and information so start by backing up your stuff to a computer if you have any important things on there.
if starting fastboot is on your xoom screen open up a command prompt:
0. For those who've modified their boot splash graphic with Team Eos' Splash Screen Logo Maker make sure to restore the stock Motorola boot splash FIRST as this process doesn't touch that part of the system. (Posted by Bait-Fish *Thanks for the update*)
1. Goto: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049485 for stock USA 3G and Wifi Images
2. download the files you need
3. extract all the img's into the tools folder
4. with the command prompt open type: cd "replace with tools directory location"
5. disconnect your xoom from your computer and shut off the xoom
6. at the prompt type: fastboot oem unlock
7. it will say waiting for device
8. now plug it into your computer and reboot into fastboot by holding the down volume button and power on
9. follow the on screen instructions and agree to everything
10. your device will reboot you will get the motorola dual core window
11. force restart device by holding volume up and pressing the power button right after the device shuts off hold the down volume button and press power button
12 you should now be in fastboot mode
13. then copy each line one by one into the command window. This will allow you to go back to factory settings like you bought it from the store
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
Note: If no userdata.img file is present in your download, please issue the command:
fastboot erase userdata
Good write up. +1 for sticky if there's not something already.

whats good about this post is that it has been fully tested by me with wifi and 3G versions of the xoom with no problems reported. This method has also fixed some RSD issues. I say some because some people have flashed wrong boot images and ruined fastboot on their xooms from seeing the desktop.
wow you would think with all the issues happening with oneclick root etc you would think this would be a highly read thread. lol.
Nice guide man.
Good to have a thread like this as I was one of those one-click rooters. Unrooted, semi-bricked and learned ADB. If you're going to play with your Xoom, at least have a general idea of ADB.
Please add that this instruction (original post) is only appliable to US Xooms. Not EUs
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
I was also a clueless one-click rooter. I'd tried everything to get rooted again. This was by far the clearest and saved my hanging around waiting for a one-click unroot solution.
Cheers
your welcome enjoy your xoom.
I already upgraded to 3.1, and I unlocked it, but I can't get CWM to work, so I can't root. Can I use this method to go back to the older HC and relock, then go back to 3.1? I bricked mine before, trying to unroot and relock (I know...I know...) I've been adb'ing like crazy trying to get CWM to work, but I feel like giving up and going back to lock, stock, no barrel.
you can if you want it wont hurt the xoom which xoom do you have wifi or 3g?
I have the wifi, running 3.1, build HMJ37
if you go back to 3.0.1 you can root it, install clockwork, then upgrade to 3.1 using clockwork method. its pretty simple. within 25-30 minutes you can be running with clockwork and 3.1 rooted.
I learned my lesson! And the forum saved me.
I did the one-click root back when I got my Xoom a couple months ago, and then when I tried un-rooting and relocking to get the 3.1 update, I bricked it (you're welcome, angel) and sent it back to Motorola. When I got it back, I tried rooting the long way, but couldn't push CWM onto it. I got lots of help and tireless support from a forum member, and finally got it unlocked, rooted, CWM'd with SD support....re-lovin' the Xoom now. And I'm glad the guy that helped me out made me re-check re-download, and redo everything just to make sure we weren't missing any steps.
I love the Xoom NOW, but when I got it back from getting fixed, I was so not happy with it being unrooted! I love to toy with stuff, and this was a real learning experience. Doing all the commands, getting the stock images, re-flashing....it was very rewarding, even though it took so long to figure out how I screwed up. (can you believe it was a usb cable that wasn't working that made it so difficult! Pushed some things, but not others....changed cables, and everything worked fine.)
Nice walk through. I don't think I'll be unrooting anytime soon but its good fyi.

nice set of links definitely treasure in my book. Can you post a link on there to this thread since they still haven't stickied this yet?
Hey everyone! I would like to start off by saying that I am brand new here, and am surely going to mess up quiet alot... But here goes,
I've recently rooted my phone with a very simple guide, and it's the first device I've every rooted. So I know very little of the process of doing so, (I'm learning slowly).
I also have found a rom that I would like to install, but I would love to know if others think it seems legit? If it is real, I know many people would absolutely love to use it! The rom's URL is (ht tp:// playfuldroidz.com /wiki/ CyanogenMod_10_Motion) (Please remove spaces, sorry as I said i'm new...)
Now I don't mind testing this myself, but being as new as I am at android I honestly do not know how to follow the relatively simple instructions.
(This Is where I need some help, Please be noob cautious!)
Download the .zip & copy to phone or sdcard (make sure 4g or wifi is enabled if dl'd from phone).
Zip can be installed from either internal or external sd in CWM (Which ever you copied it too!)
MAKE A BACKUP!!!
DO A FACTORY RESET!!! - this will wipe data & cache!
Go to install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard
Select cm-10-xxxxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-l0.zip
Confirm
Repeat Steps 5 -8 for gapps
Reboot
Now my first question I'd love some help with, is how do I perform this backup there talking about? do they just mean my simple go into settings and click backup? Or should I do it some otherway?
Second question: Do they mean the phones built in service of factory reset?
Third Question: To install a Zip from an SD card do I need to simply use ES file explorer, or root file browser? Or is there a custom way to install a Zip file on android?
Fourth and final Question: What is gapps..? Is this something I should get or use?
EDIT: I've got a fifth one also... Thanks to anyone who's stayed this long and is willing to help me.! Will this Cyanogen mod (If working) Work almost exactly like a real nexus Operating system? I've got a nexus 7 tablet running stock android, and I love it! That's why I'm doing this to my phone honestly.
Thank you all greatly!

Question 1,2 and 3.. they are all done through Clockworkmod. Look through the menus you'll see it if you still struggle look on YouTube.
Question 4.. gapps is Google Apps you need to flash this after the ROM to get the play store and all the other standard Google apps.
Question 5.. in your eyes pretty much, it'll look the same but with more features obviously.
Thank you alot!
Thanks! now i've only gotta do one last thing, and see if anyone knows whether or not this website is a reliable source, or atleast if the mod works...

I was just wondering if there's a chance this clock work mod thing doesn't work on my phone? I don't really know how, or where it is either... and I'd love some help with that... Thank you!
(Edit) I don't think there is a clockwork mod for my device... According to the Rom Manager app I was told to use for installing it.

If you did what it said in the instructions *root it, cwm, install custom rom* then after installing the custom rom it has it's own cwm. turn off the phone, turn in back home and press the back and home button together at the same time and it should take you to the rom's cwm. If the phone does a factory reset by pressing the back and home button then you did the installation wrong.
But just in case I'll setup a full instruction for you.
Root your phone.
Which can be done easily, just download this and extract the files: http://www.mediafire.com/?dhdbwflnl1vknx2
once you extract the files put your phone on debugging mode which can be done by going to settings, developer mode, and click usb debug.
once you've done that connect your phone to the pc *make sure it's on charge only* wait for driver installation to finish. once that's done click root. follow instructions on the screen it shouldn't be too hard! after following instructions you should be rooted and have cwm. but to install the recovery go to your apps and find lte 2nd init recovery and then click the top button, agree to super su to use it and you're done with rooting and cwm! now. these files you were talking about, download them and put them on sd which can be done with a file manager. after they've downloaded go to the lte 2nd init and click the bottom button. it will reboot the phone and take you to cwm. While you are in cwm click on the home button to go to external which is the sd, then go to backup and restore, and click backup! this is very important. miss this step and things could go bad. Now all you have to do is follow the instructions you posted yourself and you should be done! if you need any help don't hesitate to message me. I've done this for a long time now.
Whoops forgot to add. the website IS a reliable source. Learned that cause I'm a risk taker and decided to try it out myself. and do not use rom manager or anything like that for recovery. ever. especially on phones that do not have their own recovery mode. also. the CM10 works great in my opinion! But there's a catch. for me at least. even though everything is perfect during phone calls I cannot use my 4g. which is a bad thing for me cause I need it. other than that if that doesn't bother you or anything or don't have service then knock yourself out and install the cm10!
COMPLETED) This mod worked, all things are now finished except one small issue!
So after installing the mod with some great help of someone here on this forums, I've been basically beta testing the mod for a few days. I have nearly no complaints, as almost everything works seemlessly just like you'd except the operating system to. In the end I found one single issue though, which is terribly annoying for me in specific...
My GPS isn't working, which could be one of many things other than the rom. Seeing as I only recognized It yesterday, there may be an outside reason it at random shut off. If anyone know's what can cause this, and a fix for it please comment back!
Thanks to everyone who helped with installing the mod

Please help me with the rom
Hey guys not sure if i am suppose to post this here but i couldnt find any where else and i couldnt find an answer with my exact problem, i installed this rom on my moms lg motion and everything went find untill i got to gapps it came up with an error inside of cwm so i just contined all the other flashes i had to do and rebooted i thought that i could just flash gapps later. But i mad a very big booboo i installed the Recovery APK for it in cm 10 i forgot all about pressing reboot and saying reboot into revocovery so i was going to try it though the Recovery APK so i installed the thing and pressed reboot and instead of taking me into recovery it takes me to a screen that says something like "mourning call error" which i dont know what means but i had to take out the battery and turn the phone back on so that worked and i got back to the home screen but i still cant install gapps so she can use all the google sevices i tried rebooting with the built in reboot into recovery (the one that you press reboot when you hold the power button) and that does the same exact thing i have no way of flashing gapps or anything else for that matter can someone please help me i have no idea what to do. everything i working on the phone but that. thank you sorry if i put this in the wrong place.
Confused my droid using this method- would love in on this thread
Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place-punch me if I have-
I rooted my lgms770 with version f firmware- installed cwm and 2ndinit recovery (2nd init was the only known way (to me anyway) to get into cwm at the time) followed this guide ---
[LgMotion All Things root] and
[GUIDE] Unbrick OR Unroot LG Motion 4G [KDZ] - Android Forums
I am not allowed to post urls yet...sorry...its the the first google hit
I've tried multiple versions of the official LG Firmware flash, from the website, and by following this guide-
AOKP Dirty Unicorns baseless port cm10 - Android Forums Actually, its the unicorns that got me.
With no luck there. I am running Mint16, and had to run the programs through Wine of course, then tried Q4wine, and eventually tried running though Oracle VM, and finally, I wiped my ancient dell of Linux altogether and put WinXP back on it (took 2 hours, that). No cigar. And yes, I did the drivers, all in order, etc, tried again, reinstalled etc
I finally set up adb to try to get into this droid that way, but am having problems with port permissions (I'm going to guess that's on my pc's end-running Mint16)
I can access the factory reset screen (the black and white), download mode, and the battery charges on a black screen with a nice purple font, but I am still stuck in a bootloop. I've employed all known button spamming combos to get back into cwm (there is a nandroid in there somewhere)..but alas...
Help me Obi-Wan-Kenobi's..
Peach
I had the purple letters with no way to get to the factory reset screen i just used the lg online flash tool in upgrade recovery put in the imei of the phone in made sure the phone was in usb download mode then it was fixed but for some odd reason i still cant get my phone to the factory reset option. I apologize sincerely if I wasn't detailed enough if you need any clarification on it then let me know through pm or i could even send u a link to my box folder i keep the install files in.
(Also i have a one click root app for the LGMS770 So if you or anyone would like the link i would be happy to give it to you)

Just in Time for The New Year I would like to show Everyone How to root there Canadian variant LG V20!
Current Known issues
- No Service From Carrier
- Seems VERY Laggy (Can be Fixed with using a Kernel)
Other Information
- Yes you can Restore to factory Settings with this Method (So Don't worry if you screw up)
- Sorry far I Only know This works on the H915 however the Restore should work with all LG Models
- This will give you a Bootloader to have access to fastboot Commands
- Working TWRP Recovery
So After Reading the No Service Part many are mostly not going to be interested... I uploaded this Thread anyway to see if anyone could find a fix to this issue. (When one is found I will update this with the fix)
So If you still want to Root your Canadian LG V20 Let's do it!

WHAT DO YOU NEED BEFORE YOU START
- A Copy of LGUP
- An LG V20 H915 Running the 10d Firmware (if you need help flashing this firmware read below before Step 1)
- The Zip File I Listed above to Download
- ADB and LG Drivers
- A Windows Computer
HOW TO UPGRADE/DOWNGRADE TO FIRMWARE VERSION 10d
Step 1 - Boot Your Device into Download Mode (Turn the phone off hold the Vol + Button and plug in your device to the Computer)
Step 2 - On your Computer find the Zip File (extract it) and Open Uppercut.exe (This should launch LGUP and Make sure your Phone is Connected to your Computer)
Step 3 - In LGUP Select the Upgrade button (even if you are downgrading it will still work) then find the Firmware .kdz file for 10d
Step 4 - Flash the KDZ back onto your device
ROOTING THE DEVICE!
Step 1 - Install a Terminal Emulator App to your Device
Step 2 - Verify your device is plugged in and that ADB sees the Device (adb devices)
Step 3 - On your Computer Open the RUNMEFIRST.bat (do not close this window)
Step 4 - After loading up RUNMEFIRST.bat run Step1.bat (if you see permission denied on the files Flatland and Flatland64 this is normal)
Step 5 - Once the shell prompt opens in the step 1.bat window type "run-as con" (without quotations then hit enter) then type "chmod 0777 /storage/emulated/0/*" (yet again not in quotations and then hit enter)
Step 6 - Once that has finished on your phone open the Terminal app you downloaded earlier and type in id (if untrusted_app is displayed continue if not redo the steps)
Step 7 - In the Terminal Emulator type applypatch /system/bin/atd /storage/emulated/0/dirtysanta then watch the RUNMEFIRST.bat to see when it tells u to open Step2.bat (when it tells u to open Step2.bat open it)
Step 8 - You should now Be into a Somewhat usable bootloader on your device... now we Stop using DirySanta and Start to do things manually by ourselves open up a Command Prompt and type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" this will flash the boot2.img used in the Dirty Santa Exploit
Step 9 - After that finishes type "fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img" This will put TWRP (For the H918 Variant) on your device
Step 10 - Boot into TWRP (Remove battery then put it back in hold the Vol - Button and the Power Button Once LG Powered by Android Logo Appears Release the Power Button then Hold it Again, A White screen should come up say yes to both screens then should boot into TWRP)
Step 11 - Now that you are this far I recommend you backup everything so that you can start from this point if you mess up any upcoming steps that way you do not have to reflash the stock image and start from step 1 again....
Step 12 - Select Wipe from the Main menu then go to Format Data then type yes and enter (This will remove the password lock currently enabled on the device)
Step 13 - On the Main Menu select Install browse to your SD Card where you put your SuperSU.zip File onto and flash that to the device
Step 14 - Once that is completed return to the main menu select the Wipe menu again go to Format Data then yes again
Step 15 - Go back to the Wipe Menu and go to Advanced and select Dalvik, Data and Cache then slide to wipe after this finishes reboot to the system
Step 16 - Once in the System complete the Android setup and enable USB Debugging again then type adb reboot recovery (if your device does not boot into Android this is when u go back into TWRP by doing the remove battery method and holding those buttons down as I stated before and you Restore your Backup you made in Step 11 and you try doing those Steps again)
Step 17 - Once Back into TWRP (you may make another backup here if you would like) select Install then Flash SuperSU to your device again... Go back to the Main Menu Select Wipe then Advanced and Select Dalvik and Cache then Slide to Wipe and reboot into the System
Step 18 - Once back into Android you should see SuperSU on your device and you may download a Root Checker app of the Play Store to Make sure your Device is Fully Rooted and Working!
Please inform any Issues in the Replies below and I will add them to the List for People to Know before they Attempt rooting... If anyone finds a Fix for the Modem file to get service working on the LG V20 H915 while rooted please reply and i will Add that to the guide BELOW!
I DID NOT MAKE ANY OF THESE FILES SO PLEASE THANK THE CREATORS (LISTED ABOVE) FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND EFFORTS!
I THINK I BRICKED MY DEVICE/ THE ROOT DID NOT WORK/ I WANT TO GO BACK TO STOCK
Step 1 - As Stated Above to this all we need to do is Enter Download Mode (Remove Battery reinsert battery hold Vol + and plug in the Device) and then run the UPPERCUT.exe File
Step 2 - Select Upgrade browse over to your kdz file and select it then flash it to your device! Your Device Should boot up into Android (I Have Bricked my LG V20 Many Times Removing TWRP and the Bootloader and having nothing but the LG Logo and the Download Mode and I could Still get into the Device after doing this so it should work for you! However any problems should be dealt with the developer on his forum listed here

Anyone willing to Try installing things like Kernels and ROMs I would assume you would be using H918 Supported Files For those as thats what TWRP is running in.....
Will be adding a Zip File will all the Files need in a Couple of Minutes....
There seems to be a hidden settings menu on our Devices in which we can play around with the Modem Settings among other things.... you need to open the Phone App and Type in *#546368#*915# and the menu should come up.... Maybe somebody can figure out how to get Service running.... All Credit for this goes to @KedarWolf in his post listed here https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/access-hidden-menu-h915-t3515098
Nice little write up. Did you try this on the wind/freedom 915 or videotron 915? My guess would be that you tried it on the wind 915 and if so i bet it has something to do with their slightly differnet bands they use albeit for a change an unlocked wind device works fine on other networks. But i really have no clue if there's a connection on why there's no signal. This kind of thing is beyond my pay grade. I would be guessing someone like @autoprime would be someone to ask but chances are he has other things to worry about and likely doesn't have the device.
But keep plugging away. You may figure it out yet

Yes the Wind H915 still haven't got it figured out yet hopefully someone will soon then we will have an official working root for the Canadian Variant
I would have jumped on the Freedom Mobile (formerly Wind) deal ($30 for 6GB for the first 10 months) if the H915 had been root and has an unlocked bootloader. LG's track record of offering unlocked bootloader is looking very bleak for the H915.
@TheDantee I am sure the service issue will be resolved soon but "Seems VERY Laggy" part is worrying me more. What is the reason for that? I like the possibility to go to the default LG rom like nothing happen.

Noob question, is the phone fully functional after step 10 (TWRP).
The reason I ask is because I really only need to get to TWRP as I want to enable google assistant.
At this point, the root is not a big concern for me.
Thanks,

I don't think its SuperSU Causing the problem... In the bootloader (debug) that is provided in the DirtySanta root it states the device as an unlocked US996 LG V20 I feel that this is because it has no idea which provider its with since we are Canadian.. I have tried flashing many many modem files from many different firmwares I either get modem blue screens on boot (Goes away permanently if you remove sim card) or I get no Service in the System it self... so personally I think it is the Bootloader since its a debug bootloader because the Canadian Variant does not seem to have a bootloader.... May I ask what is your reasoning for SuperSU being the issue?

Based on your answer to SHABBA JOTS I get feeling that maybe is SuperSU creating that problem if until step 10 (TWRP) is all good. So soon we do step 8 (flashing boot image) service is gone. Is that right?

He he, I am an Nexus person. I am so afraid to mess up my V20. With Nexus it is so easy, in 2 steps you are done. I miss that part I mast say.
Ok so i gave this a quick read and from what i gather you flash the bootloader before you flash twrp and super su. So here's a question that may or may not have been tried. Is there any reason you can't follow this method to root and then flash stock recovery and then flash stock bootloader?
Since it seems bootloader is the issue with having no data or signal. You would at least have root but just not twrp. Does that make sense?

Well it has to have a bootloader. It's just locked right. Like if we pulled apart the stock kdz we should be able to find it and my theory is we could use flashfire to flash stock recovery and also flash thr bootloader since twrp can't to my knowledge flash bootloaders. We would be left with root but no recovery. I could be so far from being right but who knows. This could be the only way to have root and a working phone.
Hello everyone, I made a rooted image of 10o in case you are in the same build.
Use it at your own risk, Iam not responsible if you brick your phone or any data loss.
CREDITS:
@thecubed for root tool folder and send_command codes
@autoprime for the send_command backup code
@hackarchive for his root injection thread
Here we go:
0.- Download the rootedsystem.img unzip it and place it at the root of your internal storage.
1.- Make sure your phone is at H81010o build, you have to enable OEM unlock at developers options then mark usb debugging. Plug in your phone and authorize the debugging connection.
2.- You must have drivers and this tools. I suggest to extract the LG Root to C:
3.- If you have all of above set then turn off your phone and boot to download mode (press vol+ and power at the same time). Once you are in, plug your phone and open the LG Root folder and will see file named ports.bat make double click on it and look for the line with the DIAG1 words(usually is the last line) and check the port number(COM**) at the end of the line and write it if you want.
4.- At the LG Root folder press SHIFT key and right click at any empty space and select open command window. Once opened write
Send_Command.exe \\.\COM(put your port number) and press enter. I suggest to copy/paste the commands.
5.- This step is optional. If you want to make a back up write dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=8192 skip=65536 count=579584 of=/data/media/0/system.img Don't disconnect the phone until the # sign appear again, then write LEAVE and your phone will restart. The img will be at your internal storage, move the system.img at your HDD or any safe place you want in case you need it. IF THE # DONT APPEAR BY ANY CAUSE CLOSE THE WINDOW AND DO IT AGAIN SINCE STEP 4.
6.- Ok, this is the final step if you didnt made the 5 step. Write dd if=/data/media/0/rootedsystem.img bs=8192 seek=65536 count=579584 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0 and wait until the # sign appear again and write LEAVE. Your phone must restart and you have a rooted phone. :silly: IF THE # DONT APPEAR BY ANY CAUSE CLOSE THE WINDOW AND DO STEP 4 AND 6 AGAIN.
You can debloat as much as you want but don't erase the AT&T READY TO GO apk(Im pretty sure) and MY AT&T apk(Im not sure of this apk) because if you make a reset will crash the setup wizard and you will have a little trouble.
Don't forget to hit thanks if I helped you in any way. Sorry for my bad english.

Lg is oddly stingy.
Please help, guys. I'll buy a beer, or contribute to their favorite contributer, to anyone that throws me the right way... I abhor 95% of comments. They are one liners demanding help without... I didn't wish to bother you until something happened, and on March 8th I see that it did; now, something else will happen: I am going to be donating to you.
I will get into the thick of unlocking and then will likely get sidetracked, job/et al to hell, but whether I succeed or fail, you deserve madmadmadmad props.
Oh, and if I don't follow up on donating within 48 hours, I would take it as the greatest insult if you do not shame me absolutely everywhere.

First of all, don't get your hopes high, i rooted as traditional method like many others. I'm flashaholic and i started new thread for those who upgraded intentionally or accidentally and now think download would brick their sets. it won't. things are pretty obvious here but i repeat I'm sharing this to people who've upgraded for any reasons and have no clue how to downgrade or achieve root.
So i bought a cell (sm g920V) with preinstalled PI2 (MM6.0.1) . found out pingpong root is avail only for 5.02 . i was afraid to downgrade so i searched more. found out nogat 7.0 DQD1 has root. and can be rooted via cf autoroot. i upgraded and i tried. but it didn't worked. on nougat i did everything. tried every root app (both pc and apk ver) but failed. i decided to go back.
here i found This thread by @toutanje which said even i upgraded to nougat, i can safely downgrade to PK2 (6.0.1) , PH1 (6.0.1) and BOG7 (5.1.1) . i flashed BOG7 (5.1.1) directly because during search i've foundout that there is temporary root available for BOK7, and they both are 5.1.1. i did this because BOG7 is earlier version than BOK7, for this i won't have to downgrade but to upgrade that i did. i flashed BOK7 and headed Here, a thread by @klip1 . there wasn't any clear instructions not links no attachments. but thanks to @MrMike2182 who shared main file Here. BEWARE that you'll lose root each time you reboot, but you can gain it back easily by running root apk simply from your mobile. this is better then not having one.
so if you desperately want root. wherever you're on nougat DQD1 or MM. Downgrade to BOK7.
simply follow instructions there and all you have to do is to flash BOG7 from thread mentioned above (for safety as i did did step and i'm not sure if you may directly downgrage to BOK7), then flash BOK7, odin Sboot file (attached). you'll see some yellow codes above when restart. i was stuck there with bootloop on VZ logo. all you need to do is to factory reset. (by pressing and hold vol + & vol down + power button until you see black screen with options. press vol down and highlight second option factory data and reset. now press home button. )
phone will start normally, goto devloper options, enable usb debug, allow unknown sources and than root it with kingroot apk. done.
Those who prefer SuperSu can get lead from Here thanks to @EvilRubberDuck. but i am not sure about point 3. there is nothing attached at first post. tough little search may lead you to success.
Thanks to whoever took even little interst to make this beast rooted. please try to get permanent root for this device too. if anyone know how to get it, or any more info regarding rooting this device. please share. let me aware. i'll really appreciate that.
NOTE : i take no responsibility of what you do to your mobile. you're doing it with your own consent. if you're unsure what you're doing, don't do it. I, developers/members mentioned and xda are not responsible for ANYTHING or what you do to your phone.

If you use the SuperSU instead of KingRoot then you can use my installroot script and then the rootatboot if you need to reboot for some reason however if you are not near a PC at the time and you really need to reboot then use terminal emulator from the play store and open it and type su then enter and on the next line type pkill zygote and voila reboots without PC.

yes i've read this post of yours, i should've added this. Glad you came here and i really appreciate your efforts for s6 users. you've done great job for us.
it'll be great if you attach your script and write or quote your method here too. so users don't have to go through earlier threads and finding things. like me who bought this phone pretty late.
right now i'm using quickreboot apk to get hot reboot which keeps the root. but sometimes when you really need to restart. i see your solution as best.

OK so my phone is on 5.1.1, it was originally on 7.0 so you can downgrade back to the 5.1.1 firmware.. I've included in the file the eng kernel and eng sboot but there's different versions so this one in my file called boot.tar is from the eng kernel to the S6 G925V so if you're using G920V you need to get the eng kernel for that one.. Now first you put the phone into download mode and flash the eng kernel using odin and after the phone boots then using Windows command prompt navigate using the cd command to where the file is you downloaded called S6rootbyMrMike2182 once you're in there type installroot and the script should run and flash everything needed including busybox and then the phone will reboot (it will also boot just this one time without using the rootatboot because the same codes in this file too) now when you click on the SuperSU app it's going to say it needs to update su ignore it and go right to the play store and install/update the SuperSU from there and then the phone should be rooted and ready to go.. If you ever need to reboot for some reason connect the phone to your PC and open a command prompt in the same folder again and run rootatboot and it will set the phone as permissive again so it boots.. You can unplug it after you see the Verizon logo.. If for some reason you aren't near a computer and you really need to reboot then use terminal emulator from the play store and open it and type su and grant root access and then on the next line type pkill zygote and voila reboots without a computer
If you have KingRoot on your phone and you want to get rid of it to use SuperSU thanks to @Chainfire then use this script that I'm listing below.. Also keep terminal emulator open while you are doing this because you might(not all devices just some) get a continuous annoying popup that prevents you from doing anything (thanks to KingRoots junk) so you'll have to use terminal emulator to kill/end that process in order to continue and after you kill/end that process then go delete it immediately! Links to root with SuperSU and KingRoot removal are below!

By the way I nor XDA-DEVELOPERS is responsible for anything you choose to do to your phone! If something goes wrong, just reflash your original firmware but don't go blaming me nor XDA because I don't have to put this up so please do your research before messing with your phone and as always, make a backup of everything you wish to keep! And no this will not delete or wipe your phone unless you choose to! Links are above. You can change it or whatever just give props where it's due!!
SERIOUSLY MAKE A BACKUP OF ALL YOUR PICTURES ETC ETC BEFORE DOWNGRADING AND I'M NOT KIDDING!!!

ok i'm getting confuse here. can you please provide exact files that needed to flash on g920V please ? i mean eng kernel and sboot ? and the file with odin says "G920A_Kernel_Root_5.1.1_S****.tar", A ? isn't A refers to at & t ?
i'm afraid if i may flash wrong file. can you please help me here with exact files needed for us (G920v) ?
and when i'm running installroot via cmd, it execute it goes like it created by you until daemon started successfully for like for five to 8 sec and then disappear. phone doesn't reboot. nothing happens. ,
can anyone confirm if i can directly downgrade to BOK7 ? im currently on DQD1 also can anyone guide me how to actually flash my phone like step wise im new here.. I upgraded to 7.0 but I desperately want root now I've odin installed i just need some1 to teach me how to do it like where to select sboot file and other files

welcome here. first things first, i don't mean to discourage you but if you don't know about where to "put sboot and other files", you really shouldn't be doing this. additionally downgrading is a risky process where things get messy due to single mistake .
To answer your question directly, NO. i've read a post somewhere here that we can only downgrade to mentioned (in 1st post) firmware. OP there tried to downgrade to other fw but failed.
and that is exactly why i did long and safe procedure and downgraded to BOG7 and then BOK7. . both are 5.1.
2nd question : you need to put sboot file in "AP" section of odin. (be careful with using it)
i assume you have G920V, which have locked bootloader, my suggestion would be... its not worth it. trust me. even if you downgrade, and rooted too, you'll loose root if you restart your device. and you cannot install recovery and so on. there is no permanent root for this device.
Exchange your device for international version or so, either wait for it and enjoy being on nougat. devs are working on it may be. some claim to root nougat too. better don't downgrade and much better if you stop right there when you don't have basic knowledge about this. you'll end up having paper weight instead of device.

But on 5.1.1 my battery life was so good now it just keeps draining even on power saving just drain and drain I previously also upgraded using Odin from 5.1.1 to 7.0 (biggest mistake) and i'm regretting it although its much better it terms of improvements and performance i just cant live with this battery life also i need root for WifiKill and to hack in-app purchases .. and i don't reboot my device often..
so if im downgrading to both of these BOK7 or BOG7 i need to use the sboot file u provided right ?

alright. nothing to worry about. just downgrade like i mentioned on OP (for safe side as no one here to confirm)
okay so like i said you just need to put the provided file (all credits to original dev/coder) in AP section and flash after you install BOK7. .
i can only tell you about BOK7 as i've done and using this. not G7.
so after to downgrade to bok7, let it boot properly. factory reset your phone, go to download mode and flash attached file using odin. (uncheck all options but f reset time and auto reboot)
phone will restart, and you'll see some green numbers and something when booting. let it boot. go to dev options enable usb debugging. uncheck "verify apps usgin adb" and... root either from kingroot (comes with 100 of ads even on lock screen) or look at this post by MrMike2182 who gave us superSU :victory:
and most important part here : make a backup of everything. and i take no responsibility of what you do to your mobile. you're doing it with your own will. if you're unsure what you're doing, don't do it. I, developers/members mentioned here and xda are not responsible for ANYTHING in any way.

Quick question if i can root my device with this method it possible to install xposed framework via Flashfire?, just a question.
If not possible install xposed not a problem, better root than nothing, and i am not reboot so much, to say nothing.
And like say Muhammad Aliyan, the battery in 7.0 is much more less than 5.1.1
(Sorry for my bad english.)

i have tried it earlier and failed but now when i saw youre asking this, i gave it another try and i'm stuck on bootloop. lol.
better don't do it.
i've read it that xposed is not compatible to our devices (64bit) yet ( just read it not confirming it) + in xposed official thread, it has been warned that bootloops occur in samsung stock roms. soi'd say do not try this.

thats strange because i had FP working while rooted from same sboot file that i attached.
try downloading from another source like in second post where mrmike2182 shared it. and try removing Samsung account (if its there, don't forget to turn off reactivation lock before that.)
see if it helps.

hmm. i believe FP didn't came friendly with this sboot. any experienced dev might help us out here
make sure you have proper drivers installed and have working adb. read instructions, search fourm. by the way, for same kind of issues, i had to go with kingroot.

Just have to try install Xposed and all done.
Do you try to install official xposed? Or the unofficial for Samsung Stock https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960

I try a shoot.
Its working, its ****ing working, I sacrifices FP, and Supersu but I dont mind i have xposed and a root.
imgur(dot)com/a/zLvrD
Edit1: bad news activated module xposed requeried reboot, soo the root is lost and requiered to root again with kingroot the problem is my percent is not advance 01%. Also every time I rooted the phone is slowing arriving a point where it restarted alone and is only 01%.
If i a factoy reset i lost xposed and root or better reflash the Rom OK7?
