Better fix for Tapatalk? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

For some reason Tapatalk has always run poorly on my phone. When it was stock and even now on synergy rom. A while back I read that a way fix it was by turning the "force gpu rendering" on in the developer options in the settings. That smoothes it out but then it doesn't load any pictures. I just noticed it caused the same thing to happen with the okcupid app. So is there another fix out there for Tapatalk /okcupid to make it smooth while also loading the pictures?

Nope. The app is just that ****ty. I'd say try telling the TT devs to fix it but they don't know wtf they are doing and will just ignore you. Make sure to give it 1 star in the market.

Tapatalk is just straight garbage lately.
Every bug report I send includes some expletives for the "devs"

That sucks. I have like 6 forums that I frequent through Tapatalk. I'll 1 star it and hope it gets fixed

Anyone ever notice the touch screen issue?

I never saw this posted before, but imo was a big bug.
When you like say go to settings and slowly scroll say down, then stop for a second and slowly go the opposite way, you can move your finger poetry far before the screen jumps to your finger..... Not like that on my vibrant or sensation... Especially in gaming that was annoying especially shooting games requiring fine aiming readjustments.... I believe the sgs2 has the issue as well, like the threshold is off...
Anyone else notice that?
Also those calling me a troll stop. I still want a g2x when its a better phone...
YouTube video of my sensation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58bbvC78BR0&feature=youtube_gdata_player On multitouch test it moves very nicely when I stop and slowly move it again. You can see the sensation can move it slow....... Try that with the g2x and it will not respond right away but then jump to the right position....
Here's what I'm talking about but on a sgs2. This is what my g2x did and so does my friends... So i know they all do at least stock.. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?deskto...e.com/watch?v=sRXcBcpSD1w&v=sRXcBcpSD1w&gl=US
Mine doesn't

Mine didn't do this but it always takes me a couple of swypes to unlock it. Also, when scrolling, it seems like a flick of my finger doesn't get very far. For instance, in the app drawer, it will take two to three swypes just to get to the bottom.

I'm not having that problem either.

Was that on the stock rom? I remember the same thing on my phone when it was stock. This was fixed in other roms though. I've been using Ultimate and CM7 primarily and they scroll super fast and no problems on the lock screen either.
Mines does this. It is most notable in the browser it the xda app. It is annoying.

Its not an issue with the touchscreen itself. Its the rom you're using and the way it handles the physics of scrolling. I'm using CM7 now, and Ultimate G2X before this, and they both scroll a lot faster.
Mines does it in the setting but it doesn't bother me I had to try to make it happen no big deal just give me gingerbread

My touchscreen does not have this problem. Stock and rooted btw.
Please stop trolling the g2x forums. It is ridiculous that you sell a phone and then keep posting threads about your problems with it.
If someone else with a g2x has an issue that you dealt with and you have a solution or can confirm that they are not alone, by all means be helpful.
Otherwise, you're being a troll.

I seriously think you are inmature and your intentions of coming back to the G2x forums after getting rid of the G2x are not good ones.
Please, if this is going to be your attitude don't post non-existent problems of a phone you no longer have.

Whatever RaycerX09 issues are I don't know, with 4 posts he way off base.
There is a video on Youtube of a G2x with an early release of 2.3 which he give a review of.
He notes the problem of slow recognition on the unlock swipe. I have this problem in the all apps section about 20% of the time, slow to pick up and or not picking up.....have to multi swipe.
This sounds close enough to the problem in the OP. Long story short is the reviewer says the problem was greatly if not totally fixed in 2.3....he specifically addressed the unlock recognition, which should be the worse case.
This problem was fixed once I loaded ADW or Launcher Pro.
Some launchers change those things but stock did have a weird scroll. Its like it tried to scroll a page.
CM7 fixed that in one of the earlier builds. On the latest nightly it is smooth as silk.

Its not a launcher problem it does it on the xda app to
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
Yeah mine does the exact same thing. It shows itself mostly in the browser, sometimes it can be quite the pain in the ass just scroll slowly because it constantly wants to take these big jumps.
Mine does it on stock using LauncherPro. The "rom" that affects this is the stock ROM, so it is LG's fault then Not even rooted
Those calling me a troll need to behave yourselves. Don't cry I was wondering if anyone has the issue cause mine did and so does my friend that I'm rooting...
Helping a buddy out and mentioned it , I remember mine had the issue... Don't get your panties in a wad .. tall ruining my high..lol
I've had my G2x since day one that it was released... never experienced anything like that with the touch screen - other than having to swipe more than once in a blue moon to unlock it...

ICS Force Close Wait Time

is this a bug in the leaks or an actual feature/conceptual bug? I hope its not the later, but it annoys the hell out of me. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, sometimes i gotta wait a good minute before I can use my phone again
It happend to me couple times but only on when i'm returning missing call from call log. Contacts Force Close and i need to wait some around good 50-60 sec.
I don'tt know, but I hope it doesn't remain like this. FC that lasts almost a whole minute is terrible and unacceptable.
It happens to me multiple times a day but more so in different apps.for example if I try to look at PM's in this app, Facebook freezes and my AWD launcher has froze a couple times but my battery life is so good with ICS that I'm willing to deal with it lol

I am having the same issue. I am glad that at least it does not freeze up. I think the 2nd leak has more force close than the 1st one. I am also experiencing a lag in touch response on the 2nd leak, but am still on it only because the battery life seems to be little better.

I don't know for sure if all ics phones do this, but I get a force close a dump is made on my phone of all kinds of information in it. Kinda like a windows mini dump when it gets a blue screen. I'm hoping this is just because these are test builds. If I had to bet, I would say that is why the fc process is taking so long though.

that makes a lot of sense. considering its a development build a memory dump and system log could explain the long wait

[Q] Frequent force closes...lost cause? Help Please!

My girlfriend got her Galaxy S 4G around January and everything was going really great for her. The problems seemed to arise when I updated her phone from Froyo to Gingerbread through Kies. Since then, she constantly sees random force closes, typically while using Navigation, Browser, Contacts, SMS, etc. There is no popup saying "Bla bla has randomly closed...." etc, it just shuts back down to the main screen. Sometimes this will repeat numerous times (trying repeatedly to go to the contacts). I rooted her phone and flashed ICBINB, wiped cache, dalvik, permissions, etc. etc. but the problems have not changed in the least. Has anyone seen or experienced anything like this? It seems like no matter what I do, the phone is just doomed. Only thing I haven't tried (and am seriously considering) is reflashing back to stock Froyo; I don't think she'll mind, as long as she can use her phone peacefully. Thank you for any and all help.
I would try this rom here.

Its using the most recent build of a stable kernel.
Or install sgs kernel flasher and flash the latest kernel from this thread.

For the voodoo sound bit go to settings, then applications, manage applications, find the voodoo app and click it clear data and then uninstall the voodoo sound app. Reboot the phone and reinstall from the play store.

You have to go in settings under tweaks and set the custom app to messenger. It will stop soft booting then.

Just an update: new from is great and she loves it. Still experiencing force closes, however. Seems the biggest culprit is opening the phone app and clicking on either the contacts or call log tabs. Those love to shut down (with no message) all the time.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA
It's actually not force closing...i had that problem before and it would happen randomly. It got to the point where i was trying to quickly select a contact or start a message before it would return to the home screen. I never found out what was causing it though. Try a new kernel. I think it happened less or went away. I haven't had the problem in awhile and i think that was the only difference. I'm on erikmm's miui now and haven't had that problem.

Or try something like GoContacts EX from the market. It is a dialer and contacts. Theme it. Customize it. I find it a lot better than stock.
Maybe reboot to recovery and fix permissions. Only use a third party app once you get the stock working. That's like putting a bandaide on a cut that needs sutures.

If you don't use stock stock dialer or contacts - it is not a bandaide. It's a replacement.

He stated the forces closes is when opening dialer and contacts. He has been pretty good at giving info on what he is using. So it's safe to assume it's the stock dialer/contacts app.
I don't disagree that using a third party app can/is nice. But if there is a problem with the stock it needs fixed first. Eventually it will create bigger issues if not fixed. Plus the Rom he is on there shouldn't be any problems.

I appreciate all of your help and suggestions regarding the matter so far. As it stands I haven't had a spare second to flash a new kernel on her phone, but she hasn't seemed to have any problems (knock on wood) since that day; I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it comes back to haunt her, though. I'll try fixing permission for the heck of it, but I did that when she was running ICBINB to no avail.
I'll post an update as soon as I flash a different kernel, but despite all the drama she loves it more than ever!

Tapatalk runs like garbage on VZW s3, anyone else?

It gets to the point where I can't scroll down it lags so bad and then it eventually force closes. I've only heard one other person complain of this same issue with a semi solution of force closing it and clearing out cache in app manager, but it happens so frequently now. Ugh. Anyone else have this problem and maybe a possible solution?
yeah my xda app does the same thing (tapatalk hosted I think) I was wondering the same thing.

Yes this is a dupe, something isn't coded properly in the app it seems. Hopefully the last update fixed it, I haven't had any issues since the update.
Edit: update did not fix it, mine just started lagging again.

I've had the last 2 or 3 rapid fire updates. But I haven't had any issues w/ tapatalk ever.
Tapatalk has been ****ty for the last few weeks. The most recent update seems to have cured most issues, although I have the occasional lockup still.

Seems like when I ask it to do something before it's finished loading, it crashes.
Other than testing my patience, it's chugging along just fine for me. I rarely use it though.
It's the app and not our phones. Same thing happens on Nexus 7 using Jelly bean, which is super smooth in every other app. I'm half tempted to just use the website but XDA is a pretty heavy Site.

Tapatalk = garbage. Xda needs to get a mobile site so we don't have to use this trash.
When this starts happening, I suggest you go to the applicationxmanager and clear the cache for tapatalk. Clearing the cache has considerably helped the app perform fadter and smoother overall.

Haven't tried the XDA app, but Tapatalk is miserable. They are basically the same aren't they? I hate Tapatalk so much, but it's the only thing like it out there. So many issues like force closing, pictures not loading, lag and sticky scrolling like you mentioned. Don't know what to tell you. I've been dealing with it for almost a year now.

I've used Tapatalk as well and notice the same thing. I don't understand how scrolling text can be so sticky. It's so irritating that I tend to wait until I can get on my computer just to view the latest info.
The XDA just behaves poorly on our phone. I notice a good deal of lag within the app on a daily basis, general performance just isn't that good.

As in you can't throw the page when scrolling and it continues moving? Mine does as usual with Euroskank's build, unsure if that's related
