[Q] Freezes up

my phone freezes up multiple times a day and i have to take out the battery in order to get it to work. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have not experienced that. A bit of information might help others to possibly help you, though. Can you tell us what ROM you're using, if the problem started recently, if it started after you installed a certain app, if you're over clocking or under clocking, and if you've tried to do a factory data reset?

Im running stock. The last time i tried to install a rom i ended up with the picture in the attachment. So i took it to the local T-Mobile kiosk and they replaced it for me. i re-rooted it but didnt rom it at all. And its been like this since i got the replacement phone. never had the problem before. (this was a week ago)

Pretty picture. Kidding, of course. Reminds me of messing with interlaced graphics on my old Amiga.
If it's been doing it since you got it chances are it's probably a hardware issue. I've not heard of rooting causing issues like that. Did you install any apps after you got it, specifically anything that runs/syncs in the background?

Nothing i didnt have on before. umm.. Go SMS and Launcher, Widget Locker...

I'd go the factory data reset route & not install any apps for a day or so and see how it runs. If all is OK, start reinstalling your apps 1 x 1, give each app a day to see if the problem starts up.
If you do a factory data reset and it's still doing it, then it's probably faulty hardware.

Yeah try a factory reset and see how that does. The rainbow screen looks like a gingerbread rom without the correct bootloaders.

So that's the mysterious rainbow screen I keep reading about. Thanks, because I had no idea what it looked like (thank goodness). The bottom part reminds me of Poltergeist "Don't go into the light..."

Is this new phone they gave you refurbished?

I used to have that problem all the time when i was stock... New ROM and it went bye bye...
Hah that picture you got there reminds me of when i stupidly flashed a gb kernel on froyo... still fixed it and matter of factly I'm using the same device right now were all newbs at some point, don't let it discourage you, just take it as a lesson learned and be more careful next time

Last weekend installed Zeus v6 and I really liked it Maximum thanks.
Also Thanks qkster for helping me out. As i am very amateur user, didn't got so many problem with ZEUS v6 (I don't know is there any of them)
Some questions (installed Entropy kernel over Original Zeus infusion kernel)
1. when i start using my phone for normal calling, Temperature goes from 30 to 35 on gaming it goes to 43 is it OK?
2. Is it OK if i stay with entropy kernel of go back to Infusion GB?

Zeus has a lot of mods and tweak, that's the reason I include the infusion kernel.. never ran it with entropys kernel so idk ...plus I don't play games on my phone

Apps and widgets disappear
I just flashed Zeus 6 last night, and I absolutely love it so far.
I have an issue that I wanted to post in the development section, but I can't (not enough posts).
When I reboot the phone, some apps and widgets that I have on the different home screens disappear. Sometimes a page full of apps is copied to the next page, even over other apps or widgets. Any ideas how I can fix this? Tried reflashing, didn't help. Might just try that again, anyway.

I've had the exact same issue at times with Go Launcher EX on Zeus 6. I switched back to TW Launcher and haven't had that issue. Sucks cause I really like the look and options on Go Launcher EX. Icons kept disappearing and duplicating on mine anytime I did a reboot. Would love to see this issue fixed too.

Uninstall go and reinstall from the market. Fixed it on mine.

I'll give that a shot later. I downloaded the update after I was still having things disappear after I reflashed Zeus. Worth a try at least. Thanks!

What worked for me was enabling lag fix and a wipe*3 and reflash. Zeus 6 and r3v3l. both did this to me. Any ideas why dman? First rooms that I "had" to enable lag fix for.
You may get away just enabling lag fix. I'm just telling you what I did. I've asked dman and nun a few times but no answers.

Lagfix is always enabled by default on Zeus... so idk what you did to disable it...

Yeah, I checked that lagfix was enabled when I did my reflash and it definitely was already enabled like dman said so the icons disappearing has to be caused by something else. Probably will mess around with uninstalling and reinstalling Go Launcher EX this evening. I'll report back with the results I see over the next few days.

Probably had the disable-lagfix thing in the voodoo folder? I dunno. 5.2 was happy without. R3v and Zv6 not so much.

random locks
now this just began after flasing zeus 6 i dont know if anyone has an idea why, every so often like 3 hours or so my screen will turn black the phone will be on i can hear the calls coming in emails messages etc, but the screen wont come back up, i have to pull the battery to get it to work, is it a settting issue maybe i hope..any help will be appriciated.

That's the sod. The issue has been covered. All the lb3 roms seem to have this issue. You don't need to pull the battery just hold down the power button.

yes i do that sometimes but it just restarts the phone, and sorry usually i read a lot before asking but i use the phone to work, would this be fixed sometime in the future, is this code related or hardware? again sorry for the questionaire i depend a lot on the phone to work.

[REQUEST] Word With Friends ICS Fix

Seems that Words With Friends will freeze without FC on ICS. I've tried this on several ICS roms all with the same freezing result. Any ideas on a fix?

Its a problem with words with friends.....there is a lot of people running ICS and Honeycomb on different devices that are all having FC and other problems with it

If its freezing after every time you play a word, right after the ad, try pressing the lock button, then unlocking your phone. Its annoying, but it keeps it from freezing, for me at least.

I had this problem on superlite. After the ad, it would freeze with a black screen, and i'd have to close it with the task manager and re-open it.
Awkwardly enough, reflashing the ROM fixed my problem. this seemed to be repeateable cause it froze up on my when i tried smoothie as well. but a reflash fixed it there =\ not sure whats going on with words with friends.

Sorry I no longer play words with friends, but draw something doesn't freeze up on me. I have played it on both Team Perfection, and Sky ICS.

Did you ever find a solution to this? Did you try reflashing your rom as recommended by other responses in this thread? I have flashed almost every ics rom, some a number of times, and it always occurs. It is the only thing keeping me on GB roms now that Embryo has (almost completely) solved the ICS tethering issues on the skyrocket.
The only thing I can think of left to do is email Zynga and ask them to fix their app to make it compatible with ICS. However, I am running ICS on a TPrime and it has never occured, so can't be sure it is just ICS. And it appears that not every phone has this issue on ICS. However, do a search on XDA on "words with friends" freezes (put words with friends in quotes, then add freezes) and you will find a lot of posts on this topic for various phones, but it appears to occur most often on CM9 roms on various phones as well as ICS skyrocket roms.

Mine does this as well, and the app says there is an update, but when I go, it says my phone is not supported.

I was having this issue as well, and even though I hate doing it, I found a full words with friends w/ no ads apk and side loaded it.
Removing the ads fixed the freezing issue.
That is the only recommendation I can offer.

As someone mentioned, if you lock your screen right before the ad, that usually saves it from freezing as well.

I have the ad free (paid) version of WWF and it's still freezing up on me.

Does this still crash on the official ics release?

If you're on a custom rom, you might want to see if you have "ad blocking" or whatever that is where it blocks some ads from loading properly. I forget what exactly you need to do to fix it, but I remember I googled it and found a solution using root explorer (maybe deleting a file or altering it). It's at least worth a try

Has anyone figured out what causes the keyboard to stop working in messaging?
I can hit the first letter, and the keyboard will bring up predictions for what I press, but it won't enter any text into the field.
To fix it, I have to back out of the conversation and return to it to be able to type again.
It does it with all keyboards, too.
I can't exactly figure out what causes it to stop working. Before I thought it was locking the phone in the middle of typing, because it would sometimes be unresponsive after unlocking, but I've also had it be fine after unlocking, and I've also had it stop responding in the middle of me typing.
That's the only issue I've had with AKOP, apart from the wifi toggling thing, but that's a well-known bug.

How can I stop the ROM from automatically downloading my apps. I would rather use TiBu.

I use Swiftkey X, but it will do it with the stock keyboard as well. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the keyboards, since they'll load up predictions for whichever button I press, but it just won't actually type in the field.

The setting within GPlay...options...turn off auto updates....

Ooo I think I know what you men because I too have had these little annoyances before.... what I did when it started was kill EVERYTHING LOL yes literally kill all of the things... I even killed the keyboard/sms process since that's where it happened most at. After doing that my issue was usually fixed. Also found that I just type too fast sometimes.... it honestly can b a number of things actually, let me know how this works.

Does anyone know how to change system fonts for this ROM?

Before flashing this ROM i wanted to know how the battery life is on this?

My battery life hasn't been the greatest. about 8 hours with minimal use. Screen was barely on and little texting.

Sucks to hear, i'll hold off for now

I have been getting a little less battery life with ics...but nothing shocking. I get anywhere from 10 to 16 hours...but that is the same I have been getting with gb...even froyo. I do a lot of reading and listening to the radio...and I always have a charger near by for those occasions when the battery gulps instead of sips.

OK, maybe a dumb question. Coming from GB Roms, I am use to "My Files". On this ROM where do I find something that works the same, or what is the format?

g2x Overheating, restarting, and failing...

I have got a LG optimus 2x from Windmobile - Canada (G2x), and I have Hellsfire 2.3 installed on it.
I have been using the same ROM for about 4 months, but lately I have noticed that the cell gets warm at times, specially when charging, some times it gets hot when it's supposed to be OFF. When this happens the phone won't even turn on, I have to remove the battery manually and then put it back in to get it to turn on. (This has been happening for a while)
Anyways, skipping to this week. My phone is randomly restarting during calls. One of the random restarts made me lose some of my apps. The icons for some of my apps are messed up (they show as some default android icon), and when I try to open them it tells me that they are not installed. The app for the camera is also not working. It's similar to when you upgrade windows and all the registry gets lost; therefore you are forced to re-install all of your programs.
This is driving me crazy. Has anyone had this problem before?
Any kind of help is appreciated,

Yep, the exact same happened to me on Hellfire 2.3. I think a data wipe/factory reset will fix this issue but I just went to a different rom as Hellfire rom just didn't seem to like my G2X.

Wouldn't I lose all of my apps and info saved on the internal memory by doing that...?

You would only lose things like apps, other stuff like texts and call logs can be backed up and restored on your new ROM, it is possible to back up app data with titanium backup but its not too recommended because it can cause some problems on the new ROM. Things saved on internal SD like pics and download aren't touched.
