I've recently started having this problem. I charged my wizard overnight, saw the battery was 100%, then as soon as i removed the charger, it drops to around 80%. If i follow this with a soft reset, it drops to 50%. During normal usage the drainage isn't so sudden, but it is still a lot faster than usual. For e.g. a 20 min video would drain 30% of the battery.
My extended rom is clear, I first installed the 2.26 tmob rom, then wrcx1, so I dont think that should be an issue. I've installed the power saving cabs as well. What else could be the problem? I'd really hate to have to switch to another rom just to sort this out...
Forgot to add, this is a recent problem. I used to get excellent battery life, this has just suddenly started happening. I haven't changed my charger or battery.
which BS are you using?
I was using the latest BS release (0263 i think) but have removed it from my today screen and still the problem is persisting...
Battery... that's what driving me crazy now! With WM5, I can use my device almost 2,5 days with lots call/sms and solitaire. Tried 3 WM6 version and couldnot save the O2 life last more than 3 hours (uncontinuosly). Please any one help to solve this.... (
Sounds like either your battery is screwed (they DO go bad after a year or two) OR you've got one seriously ****ed up ROM.
By the way, BatterySpace is known to do this if you use the dynamic overclocking. Somehow something in the ROM or Registry gets trashed, and then the system will peg the CPU at 100%.
This will WASTE the battery like nobody's business! Once this happens the only fix is a HARD RESET - I've not figured out what's getting scrambled, but whatever it is, a reboot doesn't fix it.
Shut off the dynamic overclocking if you're using it and see if the problem goes away.
I just had the same erratic behavior from my battery, it was over a year old. It would charge to 100%, but when off the charger strength would read random levels and drain really fast. I could kill the battery in about 30 minutes of browsing web pages.
A new battery solved it.

OK, thanks!
Now I'm thinking about downgrade to WM5 to check wherther battery died or not, before buy a new one.
I have the same issue on the g3 wizard connected thru tmobile us running the bd3 rom. I have had excellent battery life in the past but in the past 3 days or so the battery status is just inaccurate. The main prob is that when you go connect to the internet 5 min later the device restarts and sometimes it just keeps restarting in a loop. Then sometimes it restarts but battery is at critical, when before it was at 80%.
But i noticed when it gets stuck in the boot loop, just stick it on the charger for a sec and it will start back up fine, but then die after a couple phone calls or so.
I have also cleared the rom thinking it was some battery drain issue that usually happens when you don't flash the original rom before you flash a cooked one. I installed the tmobile original one and then flashed "boring rom for tmobile". That rom works quite well. But the battery is still draining.
I also changed the radio rom from the 2.69 and now went to the 02.25.11 but still the same issue.
I didn't try running straight wm5 and see if it did it their, but the previous poster is trying it so ill see if that worked for him or not.
The next step is to try a new battery but this battery is only like a year old
Believe me when I tell 'ya that Lithium Ion batteries, when they die, do so exactly like this.
Try a new battery.

mine is doing the same thing..
if i start any aplication that requests more procesing, the device keeps rebooting, even if the battery was indicating 100% when i started using it
if i plug the charger when he is rebooting, he comes back to life 80-100% charged..
if i do not use it, and leave him on stand by, the battery lasts for like 2 days without any issues.
Draining in Sudden Bursts! Sounds like it feels good.
well i guess i will just get a new battery and hope that solves the problem since I have tried everything besides just using regular wm5, and someone posted that this is what lithium ion batteries usually do, so I'll give it a shot and report my findings after christmas, lol I hope I get a mda battery for christmas
anyone bought a new battery?
did it worked?
i´m still waiting for mine to arrive
I bought a new battery, but i cant say yet whether its working or not. It seems to work fine at times, and gives the same problem at other times. Not sure what acould be wrong....
Are you using TNT5 ROM? I've flashed two days ago this ROM to give WM6 a second go and my battery vanished like smoke... the battery that used to last for about 4 days, was gone in only half a day :\ I'm back to my ROM!
I'm using TNT5 for a few months now. All of a sudden i had batteryproblems. Tried everything but solved the problem with a fresh battery. Only 9 dollars on Ebay....
And now the phone is running smoothly again (lasts about 2 days)...
still waiting for mines to come should come wednesday, its getting worst and worst i used to be able to use it for at least an hour now only for about 15 min off the charger, when it says its at a 100%
I'm having a different kind of problem, except for the burst that I get after taking off power or after a soft reset, my battery life is exceptional. My last charge lasted about 7 hrs (including ebooks, mp3s, sms, and some phone calls).
I flashed XDA Mobile 6 Release 5 RC1 with .NET CF 3.5! recharging full battery. After flashing It showed low battery warning and when i restarted it, it showed full battery. And one hour later it swiched off. Now i flashed another rom .No problem yet.
I just flashed a new revision of the rom [ROM][CM10][Kang][Pyramid][Beta][28 Sept]: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009, actually the 9/24 version, not today's build. I flashed it over an earlier revision, probably 9/4 or thereabouts. Never had battery charging problems with this phone before. The problem, is that since then, the phone has not charge. The reason that I don't think it's a physical problem is that the charging LED comes on, and the OS thinks that it is charging (shows up in the battery settings dialog). The battery seems to be draining normally, i.e. I might get a full day out of the charge (if I'm lucky, anyway).
So...am at 23% after leaving it on the charger for a few hours during the day and thinking WTF. I just powered the phone off to see if it'll charge that way. Maybe in 15 min, I'll know if that'll work. Oh, yes, I tried wiping battery stats, no help.
I thought of posting in the rom thread, but did not intentionally because it's so hard to keep up with those dev threads (I did search first of course), and I don't know that it's a ROM issue. It may be, please let me know if you think I need to be posting there.
Any ideas? I'm also downloading the 9/28 revision and will flash that after I figure out if the phone will charge while off.
Crap! Not charging while off. That sounds like hardware to me. :<
Weird. Flashed today's ROM and it's charging. Nevermind...
Glad that version fixed it! Sounds like the kernel was freaking out!
Hi There. I started having trouble with battery usage. Some services were using SO much power...battery would last an hour or two. It had been a good while, so I went ahead and wiped the phone and flashed a new rom. I was on CM10, now I'm on SlimBean 3.1.0 (also CM10).
I have a few batteries, and just replaced a third party one with actual an Samsung. Using new or old battery, they charge to 75% and stop.
I'm pretty sure they're charging all the way..once I start using them, it'll stay around 70% for a WHILE before droping below that.
I'm guessing there is some combination of draining/charging/resetting stats, but I have not found it yet. I tried resetting stats when the battery was full (at least.. around 75% and not increasing). Maybe I should drain it and then reset? I'll try that next...
Has anyone been through this with a Blaze that can offer some clues?

Craaaaap. I thought I had moved out of the dev forum. I'm retarded. Thanks for pointing that out.
Try pulling the battery, sim, and sdcard.
Let phone sit for about 5 minutes.
Pick up phone and hold the power and volume buttons for about 30 seconds.
Place phone down for another 5 minutes.
Put sim, sdcard, and battery back in phone.
Charge for about 30 minutes to an hour.
Turn phone on and let charge completely.
It's best to do this with a battery that is less than 50%.
Don't allow your battery to die completely if you can avoid it.
This trick also helps with laptop batteries.
NEVER, drop your phone in the toilet no matter how pissed you are at it...
Good luck, hope this helps, and next time make sure you are in the right section please.
Thanks. I'll try this.
Ugh...embarrassed. Will do.
Some background, got the phone 2nd hand. Worked great. I rooted it and unlocked the bootloader soon after. Soon after I went to a coupe different roms and noticed HORRIBLE battery life even after letting the battery settle for a week. Then I tried Scott's Cleanrom (final) and got GREAT battery life, though it eventually depreciated after about half a week and charging it was really slow. Also when restarting the phone it would turn talkback on...
Now I returned to stock, and rooted it with the procedure in the stickies that doesn't need to unlock the bootloader. I'm getting really good battery life again but my charging is EXCRUCIATINGLY slow. Now I ran an app and it says it's charging at around 1Amp but if I use the screen while charging it will lose battery...
Also the weird talkback issue came back when I returned to stock... and it's really annoying.
Any ideas? I've tried changing cables and chargers but nothing really changes...

For the Battery issue have you tried battery doctor? It could also be time for a new battery. Now talk back has an issue with really.. Everything. If you don't need I suggest you use a root uninstall app and just get rid of it.
Hi,
My phone is almost not charging full or it doesn't show as such.
This is detailed breakup of my issue :
I put phone at charging exactly at 2pm at 2%
3pm it was at 36%
4pm it was 54%
5pm it was at 64%
6pm it was at 73%
7pm it was at 82%
7:30pm it was at 84%
after this I removed phone from charging and rebooted it. Surprisingly it showed 100%.
Battery doesn't last more than 12hrs no matter what I do. I am using Greenify too.
BT, GPS, Auto-Sync, 3G, etc all are off. WiFi On 24hrs.
Screen-off battery drain is also around 8-9% per hour.
Can I do/try something on software side before I order a new battery ?
Right now I am on Carbon ROM (20131008) with stock kernel, 1512, Ondemand, SIO, No OC. Its same on every ROM I tried except seemingly on ARHD 7.3 (used it less than 24hrs. Its rock solid and smooth.)
I would greatly appreciate any help/advice !
I also has this issue still looking for the solution
Sent from my HTC Sensation using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
the battery misreading while charging is a common htc's fault after rooting and there is no solution yet
i have the same thing while charging my device
but the difference is i don't have that fast drain
how old is your battery?
did you try a different battery?
make sure it fits correctly to the pins
Battery is just 1yr old. Yup I checked the pins. They are correctly fit.

this is a rom issue i think as this has also happened to many people and and this happens after many days on a single rom (and u make the rom unstable)
the solution is simple just backup ur data and full wipe and flash rom again and u will be good to do for next many days (if u keep the rom stable)
I flash ROM almost every alternative day and I always do Full-Wipe

How to decide which one
Are there any Battery benchmarking app that could tell me if I need a new one ?

Battery Kernel issue
I am new to xda. I actually flashed a new rom after that phone doesn't charge after switching off. Could it be a kernel issue or the rom's issue. I have a Canvas HD. And sorry if this is not the place to ask the question. I couldn't find any other thread related to this. Please help.
Similar issue here. My charging often stops at about 80%, but after a reboot the battery's full charged.
My battery also gets drained very fast, but it's about 2,5 years old so that's probably the problem.
With the CPU clock speed @1,5GHz and the GPU @266MHz i get about 15h +/-2h of battery life.
I keep battery saving ON most of the time. Bluetooth, GPS, 3G etc all OFF. WiFi ON for about 1-2h per day (if i would keep it on longer, my phone would be dead in 4-5h).
I'm using ViperS 5.2.1 right now (full wiped before install). I got the same experience on ARHD and previous ViperS versions.
Tested the charger - it's fine.
I was wondering if anybody else got an old battery like mine and how long does it last on full charge
Hi guys,
I have a HTC Sensation XE that i bought three days ago (second hand) and i have the same problem with the battery % not reading correctly.
Now this is what i observed:
- the charging is very slow - from 20% to 40% in 2-3 hours
- after 2-3 hours of charging if i reboot the phone the charging LED turns green and the battery reading says 100%.
(i tested to see if actually it got charged to 100% and it did, i turned everything on, watched a HD movie, played some games and after 5-6 hours of playing with it i still had 50%)
- tested the battery to see how fast it drains from 10% to shut down and it went on at full brightness and everything on for about an hour and something so this means there might not be any problems with the battery
- so the reading is wrong because the battery is charged after a few hours.
- i did a test to see if the same thing happens when the phone is off and i left it to charge for 2-3 hours and when i got back the charging LED was still orange. When i started the phone the LED went off and back on as green. The battery was 100% charged.
- If the same behavior happens in off mode it means it's not a ROM problem (by the way from what i know the phone is stock, the guy never did the rooting.....that's what he told me - can't know for sure).
- from my electronics background it seems the phone updates the battery information sometime at boottime. When charging, the software keeps the charging LED on because it's supposed to charge due to incorrect data but the hardware charging controller drops the charge current because the the battery is full. So this can be an incorrect sensor reading by the software or an incorrect feedback given by the hardware controller.
So what do you think, what can cause this.
Should i try rooting the device?
And i tried factory reset from android and factory reset from bootloader and the problem is still there.
Ok so i did the following:
- unlock the bootloader
- flashed CWM
- installed superuser
- wipe battery stats
- wipe device
- calibrate battery with an application from market
The problem is still there.
I figured that when in bootloader first thing you can read is the S-ON/S-OFF. Before doing the unlock it was "LOCKED" and after "UNLOCKED".
I did a relock and the status changed to "RELOCKED" so this means the guy that had the phone before me didn't root which again means the theory that says this problem occurs when the user tries to root the device is not true because it seems the behavior is observed on an unrooted device.
I will dig deeper maybe i find more ideas on what i can do.
I'm running out of software options so this is pointing at something hardware.
I'll get back with updates when i find something else.

probably it is htc's bug
the same happened to me after rooting the device
For now I will try to make some full cycles of the battery and see if anything changes. I usually use the phone at work and by the time I get home it's almost empty. Plug to charger and till morning it's full with a green light. I will have to monitor the charging times and get back with results.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using XDA Free mobile app
Well i did some full charging cycles and nothing changed, still the same long charge time(read by the phone) and with restart it bounces to 100%.
I had the original Android 4.0.3 with Htc Sense 3.6 at the time. Got 4EXT recovery and an 4.0.4 rom with Htc Sense 4.1. Did a full wipe and battery stats , installed the new 4.0.4 rom but the problem persists.
At this point i think the battery is the problem so the next thing to do is to change it. I will get back after i change it, hopefully sometime in november.
After a long time I managed to change the battery and after a few tests it seems the problem is still there. The time on battery improved as I expected but everything else is the same which means it's something hardware defective in the phone. Also did some tests with android 5.1 and the same results. Meantime I sold the phone and got a Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo. Hope this research gives some answers to someone at some point. Cheers.
