[Q] Can someone please post a touchwiz stock froyo/gingerbread APN? - Samsung Infuse 4G

The reason is because the only Android device I've ever had (aside from the Nexus One) was the Infuse that worked with MMS. When I owned an iPhone 3G and 3GS, and Blackjack II I never had problems receiving or sending MMS until I moved to Android. I'm on a GNex (unlocked). I have had mobile data disabled on my phone (always) because it costs way too much for me and I am always in WiFi anyway.
Thanks!

For the infuse, you need mobile data to be enabled in order to send or reciece mms...some phones will automatically turn data on just for mms...but not the infuse ...WiFi won't work with mms

Question re: Using both Inspire and iPhone 4

I ordered my Inspire off contract but am planning on keeping both my iPhone 4 and Inspire. I see a lot of people talking about having issues with data plans but was wondering if anyone is still using their iPhone data plan on their Inspire? I'd call at&t and simply get on the unlimited data plan but I know if I switch to that off my current iPhone unlimited plan I will get harrassed by at&t when I pop my sim into the iPhone and will get messages saying I'm not on a iPhone plan, etc... I'm assuming it will work as long as I change the APN settings when I get the phone but then run the risk of missing out on their "4G". If anyone is swapping sims out with another phone and can help me out it would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don't know if the 4G will suffer but I had an iPhone 3GS before I bought a Samsung Captivate (Have an Inspire now). As long as I kept the iPhone data plan, I could switch back and forth with no problems.
Wait, doesn't the iPhone 4 use a small sim card? Do you have an adapter for it?

Thanks for the reply, yeah it does use a micro sim but I do have a adapter for it. So you were able to simply put your sim with the iPhone plan into the Inspire and data worked right away with no APN changes? Thanks again.

I had a captivate as well and never had issues switching back and forth. I was just concerned due to a lot of people claiming to have issues with their data and the solution to call at&t to be put on a "4g" plan.
You should have no problems.

No not my Inspire, I put it into my Captivate... but had no issues. I was going to try my father's iPhone 4 so I could give you a definite answer but that' when I realized the small sim in the iPhone 4's and I don't have the adapter for it

Ah, ok. I appreciate you trying though. Guess I will just wait and see what happens in a day or two.

I hope not but based on all of the other data issues people were having and at&t telling them they need to be on the "4G" data plan, I think I may not be so lucky. If I have to call at&t every time I want to switch phones just to change data plans it's going to be a pain.
No issues with mine since Saturday. I switched to the Inspire on Saturday and then back to the iPhone all day today while rooting. Now back to the Inspire tonight. All is fine. I also had a Captivate too with no issues.

Thanks for the feedback.
So just to clarify, as I will be doing this too, you just left your data plan as it was, unlimited for iPhone, and popped in the micro SIM (with adapter), and it was fine? Did you have to change the APN on the Inspire if you didn't get the plan changed? And what do you do about Visual Voicemail, checking your VM from the Inspire? Thanks!

I can't answer the question about the APN yet since I don't have my Inspire yet but with visual voicemail I know you will just have regular voicemail in the Inspire and when you go back to the iPhone it will be VVM. At least that's the way it has been with my Samsung Focus and Captivate with the iPhone. But believe me all of this talk about data plans is making my head spin. One person says this another says that... AT&T reps seem clueless as well. I honestly think 3G and 4G plans (in terms of the plans since they both use the same type of sim card) are the same with AT&T just trying to keep things organized on their end. It would be much simpler to have a smartphone data plan and call it a day. A lot less confusion.

Totally. The only thing I can gather from all the forums is that you don't have to change your plan to a "4G" data plan IF you change the APN...But no one will really say either way.

Yup, so many people are getting way too many different answers from AT&T and it's probably just as easy as keeping your iPhone plan and changing the APN. Like I said, 3G or AT&T's "4G" work off the same sim. Think we will be fine just changing the APN.
Just wanted to add, that I'm doing the same thing - using my iPhone4 sim (with adaptor) in the Inspire 4G. I didn't need to change any APN's, I just put the sim in and it worked.
Also, when I check my account page on AT&T, it shows my current phone as the Inspire 4G, but I'm still listed with the iPhone Data Plan (unlimited).
So far all is fine and I'm getting normal 3G speeds, same as iPhone.
I'm just wondering when ATT flips the switch on 4G on March 1, if my sim & plan will continue to work ok and give me those faster 4G speeds... So much confusion and misinformation going on out there, I'm just going to wait and see.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Have you tried putting the sim back into the iPhone to see if that shows up on your account again? I'm really leaning towards saying it will work fine. I really believe AT&T is feeding everyone a lot of BS. I remember they would tell everyone a iPhone data plan would not work on any other smartphone. Of course we all know that's not the case.
(And I'm not sure if this "4G" data plan would work in the iPhone or not but that's a possibility to switch to unlimited 4G and just use that in the iPhone. Can anyone confirm this?)
I haven't put the sim back in the iPhone yet, but in the past, I've used that same sim in a Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S, Nexus 1 and S phones - and they've all worked fine with my "iPhone data plan". Nothing changed in my account, so I think we're ok...

[Q] Data issues

I purchased my Infuse from Wal-mart and slapped in my sim card from an iPhone. Now I'm having data problems, both wi-fi and cellular, that I didn't have before. For seemingly no reason at all, my phone will not connect to anything on the internet. I'll check my laptop and tablet (Xoom) and they seem to be connecting fine. I have bars on the phone, etc. Sometimes turning off wireless and turning it back on will fix the problem for a while. I'm using a Linksys WRT400N and have confirmed that the firmware is up to date on it, and like I said my other devices are fine. Anyone else having this problem? Also, can't the phone be setup to switch to cellular data if wi-fi isn't working and vice-versa?
Call AT&T from a different they need info from your phone
Big dog Infuse I997 GB KJ2
Do you have a particular reason for saying that? I don't think AT&T is going to troubleshoot my home wireless connection with me.
I think what they meant was iPhone data plan and Android data plans are different. You have to call AT&T to switch the data plans. At least that has always been my experience. When I went from blackberry to Android I had to call to switch the plan.

I thought so too, but I asked when I got the Infuse and the guy said nope and proceeded to pop in my old sim card.
I'm a bit more concerned with my wireless keeps dropping (although cellular does it too). Any known issues with the Infuse radio and wireless N or Linksys routers? Google isn't turning up much for me.
ATT told me it requires a 4g SIM, said it wouldn't work right without it.
Could be BS but mone worked fine day one.

I was told the same thing. they deactivated my old Sim card and dropped in a new one. Bit weird if you ask me but sort of makes sense.

Has anyone got vvm working on att and is it by using iphone data?

I read that vvm works on att but not if you have a regular smartphone plan you have to either have an iphone, android, or bb data plan with vvm. I have an old 3GS I just called and was wandering if the internet will work on my focus S?

[Q] Increasing Max MMS Size? Or receiving iPhone MMS

So basically, my girlfriend sent me an MMS from her crappy blackberry (maybe a 3mp camera) and it came though fine and fast. But my mom sending me an MMS from her iPhone 4s never seems to work. On stock onclick, or now on MHX 5.0. Sock MMS app or the new AOSP one. I think maybe it has to do with size, but also maybe just because it is from an iPhone? I recieved one mms from her that worked, when I was on the phone with her and I checked it while on the phone. I am outside of an LTE area if that matters.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah I have same problem with getting mms from my wife's 4s. I get them fine from my sisters 4 though.

[Q]Can't recieve iPhone MMS.

So basically, my girlfriend sent me an MMS from her crappy blackberry (maybe a 3mp camera) and it came though fine and fast, my friend with some budget android device can also send me MMS. But any MMS from iPhone 4/4s don't work. Running MHX 5.0 and the UCLC5. Sock MMS app or the new AOSP one. I think maybe it has to do with size, but also maybe just because it is from an iPhone? I recieved one mms from my moms 4s that worked, when I was on the phone with her and I checked it while on the phone. I am outside of an LTE area if that matters.

Exactly. I dont personally have a iPhone anymore, but make sure that whoever is sending you a message is not using iMessage. iMessage is proprietary "iPhone to iPhone" messaging service, much like BBM. Plus, make sure your APN information is set up properly. I dont think size of the picture would be an issue unless your provider blocks MMS files bigger then a specific size. From what I remember a iPhone automatically resizes, just like our Google phones do.
A friend of mine sent me a couple pictures from his iPhone to my Skyrocket and they came through fine. And I am not in LTE at all either (damn slow ass Canadian networks). You will receive pictures even on Edge service. It will just take longer for your phone to download the file is all.
One last thought on the topic. Did you used to have a iPhone, aka iPhone plan, and then upgrade to a Skyrocket? I did this, and there are a couple features with my carrier that are phone specific. For instance, visual voicemail. Which worked on my iPhone but wouldn't when I made the switch to Android. It could be, a long shot as it may be, that your provider has the settings for an iPhone. And when your gf tried to send you a message her phone thinks your on a iPhone.
Hope any of this helps. Bored on a Saturday and nothing else to do lol.
