Flash player - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't understand why this is being disabled by browsers, chrome won't let you use it, dolphin browser disabled the feature and it also says to refer to iPhone 5 that its no longer supporting it on android devices..
I installed adobe from the website not the store.. works fine on stock browser after enabling always on..
Are they removing flash player all together? What the heck will we use? Pleanty of sites require flash player..

It's more the fact that most browsers never supported flash on android. Chrome didn't. Dolphin used some server side processing to allow support for flash websites but that wasn't true flash.
You've just gotta use the stock browser (or ics browser if not on jb) if you need Flash. It is still also possible to have flash player on jb, despite a lot of people complaining it isn't possible.

I'm confused.... flash is being used so widely. How will android view sites without bypassing.

Everything is slowly being converted to html5 coding. It is less consuming and more optimal

HTML5 coding groups have split and are now heading in different directions possibly... maybe?...

that scares me, so which standard will which browser follow?

Well thinking of current standards, there are different implementations of things, css html asp and the browsers support them all. So in reality the browsers will probably support all different variations (if it does go that way), as long as they at least vaguely follow the original standards.
Correct me if I'm wrong I'm no developer. (one day hopefully)

Dolphin still works fine for me and it does not use server conversion. I have the TF 300 with stock JB OS.

Flash is being phased out in mobile devices since its memory and cpu intensive and generally has poor performance on mobile compared to a desktop. Apple began the transition with others following. Hopefully the transition will be over by 2014.

Browser on 2.3.4 not yet GPU accelerated?

Hi all,
The browser on 2.3.4 isn't GPU accelerated yet.
Some content rich webpages make surfing impossible with that substantial lag.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Any quick fix to make it GPU accelerated? Or is Google aware of this issue? This has been bugging me
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
You'll probably have to wait for Icecream Sandwich, in the meanwhile, use Opera.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Maybe the issue will be resolved in a future update 2.3.x, we can hope it.
especially when there are many pictures.
Opera handles much better..
Yep, the stock browser on Nexus S is really laggy. I prefer Opera on it.
But it's interesting that the stock browser in Galaxy Tabs Gingerbread ROM is super smooth. And given the fact that it was really awful in the beginning, its a HUGE improvement. So fingers crosses that Nexus S's stock browser gets a performance upgrade before ice cream sandwitch.
Seems odd to me. I bought a smart phone over a feature phone for better web browsing.
I hate it.. I don't understand the limitations when safari on iPhones has been smooth for years on less powerful hardware.
i installed flash 10.3 and all is good with the stock browser
Heres to hoping ice cream sandwich sorts it...as will as bring proxy!

Yes Opera supports flash as well, what is nice with Opera is you can enable certain flash elements within the webpage and not have to enable all of them at once

i really wanna use two browsers in my phone, because sometimes i just like to change the normal practice. opera is good to use. dolphin browser is perfect , never FC. it support flash and pinch-zoom. its amazing.
Anyone tried browsing with stock browser on xda forum here. Its almost unusable.

I'm really liking the Nexus S phone but I have to admit that the lag in the browser gets really annoying specially coming from the Iphone 4 it makes me doubt if I should keep the Nexus S or go to another android phone.

Get Chrome from market if you are on ICS

In case you forgot, you can run Google Chrome on your ICS device now (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en). There are some goodies there which are not available in stock browser and you might like it better.
Agreed, it is smother than the stock browser, plus, you have all your chrome bookmarks automatically synchronized. Also, you can access the pages you have opened in other computers and devices (which is cool and scary at the same time).

It's by far the greatest advantage of Mobile Chrome... being reading something in my laptop, then leaving and continuing to read the same thing, effortlessly, is pretty cool.
Or if I run into a page some cool Android app while on my computer, instead of e-mailing the link, I just open Chrome Mobile, and there's the page.

And I still find that Quick ICS Browser is faster and more responsive.
Best selling point for Chrome to me is the bookmark syncing. Thats huge IMHO and I think it should have been implemented from the start with Android.

Probobly this
Google's new Chrome web browser for Android will never get support for Adobe Flash, Ars Technica reports.
This doesn't come as much of a surprise, since Adobe previously stated that it was finished working on Flash for mobiles.
So effectively, mobile Flash is officially on the way out. Even though Adobe itself has given up on it, that hasn't stopped plenty of manufacturers from continuing to advertise Flash as a selling point for Android.
Ars Technica deftly points out:
When Google eventually moves to replace the default Android browser with Chrome in future versions of the Android platform, devices that run the operating system will likely no longer be able to play Flash content in the browser.

No! Wonder who made that excecutive decision. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing yet. People use the phones more than a home computer. So you would think they would want to work harder on mobile flash. I'm still kinda in denial about this whole thing,

Last I read, Flash was going away. In favor of HTML5? So not everyone will be supporting it in the future.
I'm using Chrome Beta also. It's not 100% ready for prime time, but works pretty well so far. And the fact it syncs bookmarks with my home Chrome browser is HUGE for me.
But I wish it were easier to add mobile-only bookmarks. It's not super friendly in that area yet. I love Dolphin browsers home page where I can add quick bookmarks.
So OK, how is it that I can't find it on Play? Is it because I'm on superlite ICS and if so, is there a way I can trick Play to show me everything?
I tried Chrome and it is ok, but has handy features missing. I'll stick to stock, which has all my Chrome bookmarks synced to it anyway, it is super fast.

dolphin hd for me. but i'm excited to see firefox come into the picture for ICS. hopefully they will get their act together for the mobile market. their original mobile firefox was terrible.
i have used the stock browser, ICS+ Browser, Chrome Beta, Dolphin Pad, Opera Next, Opera Mobile, Firefox beta, and Boat.
so far, the one with the best balance between stabliity and speed is Dolphin. Though the .29 update made chrome more usable.
I have found dolphinhd and opera to be the smoothest I have used.
Opera mobile for me. As much as I want to like the Chrome beta (and it is, really, really good) I feel that Opera is still the best browser for touchscreen devices. It still has some issues with a few sites, but it's been getting steadily better and has received a steady stream of updates.
Opera mini (not mobile) is the fastest smoothest browser. It has page transitions and seems to take a static approach, as though it takes a snapshot of the page before displaying it. The scrolling and animations are always fluid. The graphics do appear compressed. This browser definitely has its place for me.
I also use the stock browser when I need a more full featured browser, which is the best in that category due to the quick controls and bookmarks.
I have tried the chrome browser on differnent tablets and its quite slow, not ready for prime time in my opinion. Its excellent on the galaxy nexus phone, though.
Firefox is no good, dolphin is fine but has no advantage over stock in my opinion.

Overskreen is interesting as it performs as an independent resizable Window on top of every app which means true multitasking...? Multiple Windows are possible as well.

Chrome for Android has never had flash support:
What version of Flash is supported on Chrome for Android?
Chrome for Android will not be supporting Flash. As you may have seen in November, 2011, Adobe announced it has stopped investing in Flash for mobile browsing. Google has long been committed to making the web platform more powerful through open web technologies like HTML5 and is working with Adobe and other partners to further advance the web standard.

i think it has something to do with siebel - oracle crm. it uses some kind of third party connector between siebel and browser and it is designed for only ie. but somehow old android browser worked way over the expectation.

[Q] Should I upgrade to JB (flash user)?

I know Flash is not officially supported on JB but how well is it working?
I use flash a lot and it is one of the main reasons I didn't get an ipad. I use flash for video but also on financial sites.
I use it to catch up on TV Shows.
Is this the end of updates for me? Or at least till 99.9% has switched to HTML 5.
For example : myspass.de (German TV) is this playing well on JB?
Thanks!
There is way to install Flash on JB see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336
