screen orientation works perfectly, but just until I start playing racing games. I turn device left but car goes right, right - car goes left. Tried other games - problems.
I checked sensors using some sensor test soft and noticed that when I actually pitch the device up program shows that I roll it left. pitch down - rolls right. when I roll it left it shows that I pitch it up....
I have another same transformer which in comparison works well in all cases, so I put devices near each other and checked how x, y, z behaves. and both give same figures! So I'm confused...
my question is:
As I think sensors are OK, are there any software solutions or other ways to deal with that problem?

I've noticed on a few games that even though the screen is landscape, it treats the orientation like you are still in portrait mode! I think it might have to do with the fact that some apps were written for phones that don't have landscape mode... ould be wrong though - just a guess!
Other games work fine.. Do you have any apps that use the orientation correctly?

I used app "Sensor test and plot" to check orientation. It says something is wrong and I think it does not depend on app version...

I do not know now. I think it is software... I did hard reset as suggested by Asus "experts". Nothing has changed.

Yeah, I think you are seeing the issue I was talking about (app assumes portrait for orientation, even though you are playing in landscape).
Let me find a free racing game and try it - can you give some examples of games that dont work properly for me to try?
EDIT: I just tried Riptide GP and Reckless Getaway and the orientation sensor works perfectly.... Can you try one of those games (both very good games)?
Try Wave Blazer lite. Maybe you are right. I'be just tried Raging Thunder and it worked ok for me
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk
Yeah, Wave Blazer doesn't work for me either - it's definately a phone app (can tell by the resolution).
A real good racing app for tablets is Riptide GP - it works fine..... $6.99 though! Ouch...
Reckless Getaway is really cool too and the orientation sensor works fine with it too...

Now I understand. It is really so simple. Thanks a lot. Now I can explaine my son why some games just behaves like crazy...
Do you know any method of adjusting z axis (my son is complaining about floating icecubes wallpaper. It is not fully horizontal while pad stands on the table)

So basically you can't play phone apps that require G-Sensor on tablets? (Temple run etc.) I have somewhat the same problem. Doesn't that mean that there is some sort of setting in the phone that tells the phone to rotate g-sensor orientation when playing landscape, and only when the application is running in the foreground? Temple Run (portrait) running in the foreground on phones work even if Need for Speed (landscape) is running in the background. If there is a system setting controlling this, then couldn't we bring that setting over to tablets? I don't see how that couldn't be done.
Edit: I think some tablets don't have this problem.
Maybe we should start a list of apps and games that in some way, do not run properly on the initial release of the GNote, be it due to lag or screen sizing issues? This would hopefully go some way in avoiding cluttering up the other threads.
Thanks.
Icq mobile - not scaling at all.
Dungeon Defenders - some pixels missing at bottom
Quadrant - few pixel missing at bottom
YouTube - seems to use max. 480p (tested only one time)
Tested YouTube again, seems if HD resolution was used.

Even with "HQ" the YouTube Apps just use around 480p.
Look a Starcraft 2 match on Youtube with HD Ready Flash and in YouTube. That is a different like day and night.
Doodle Jump.
Turning off Compatibility Mode with Spare Parts app doesn't help as everything looks stretched. This app's never worked with any other res except for 800x480 so not too surprised.
Widgetlocker doesn't scale for me. Emailed the dev, will drop a line here if anything turns up.
Can anyone test my 2 games on the Note?
It should scale correctly but I don't have my Note yet (hopefully next week) could someone try them please?

Wow is it just me or are the touchpads horrible for this game? I just can't get the sensitivity right and they just feel sluggish. At times it will keep my character turning in a certain direction without my finger even on the touchpad. Blah...makes trying to play multiplayer not possible.

I'm gonna try to get the PS3 dualshock controller working with it using the sixxaxis pairtool. At least then I would be able to enjoy the game. Just hope I can get the key mapping done right.

It does not have any gamepad support yet except xperia play. the only way you can use a ps3 pad with it is with sixaxis app on market and you will need to map the buttons and sticks with touch profiles. Tip if want to get it playing nice with that make sure MC3 in game controller settings and pick sticks. Been playing this like that on my Xperia S with HDMI works ok.

Yes, played online 4 games last night 3 and today.. plays good no lag and smooth as butter... the version I use is the 1.0.1, the newer version that screwed up the controls and gave it major lag is 1.1.1.
I used to have Modern Combat 3, I hated the controls so much, I was expecting them to feel like how they do on Minecraft Pocket, which feel amazing!
The original market version is the best one
Controls work great and you dont loose progress when online

how can i get the version 1.0.1? im on 1.1.1 and ive paid for it from the google play store, ive tried emailing gameloft but as usual their customer service is absolutely terrible
Would it be better to buy this from Gameloft's store or from Google Play?
I know you guys are all saying that 1.0.1 is the better one to get but Ive had trouble finding (aarrrr) it hehe.
Hm... I was kinda getting pissed that the Gameloft Wapshop version hasn't been updated.
...but if the update's just gonna make everything ****ty, maybe I should be glad I didn't buy from the Google Play Store.
OR, OR, OOOOR!!... Gameloft could stop ****in around and make all their Xperia Play games work like Dead Space. Shadowgun's controls went from **** to sugar... and Gameloft has far more resources to work with opposed to Madfinger.
Is anyone else having trouble with playing emulators while HDMI outing to their TV while playing emulators? I tried some different test cases: Playing a mix of the different *oid emulators just on my phone, while using a ps3 controller, and while using a ps3 controller with the output being displayed on my TV. The only case in which I got unbearable lag and stuttering was when I use outputing to my TV through a monoprice MLH adapter. Everything ran smoothly otherwise. Furthermore I ran Cool Tool in the background to watch my cpu usage and even though it was lagging the cpu usage wasn't spiking or getting very high. Is anyone else having problem with HDMI out? I don't know why this faster phone can't even handle something my slower year old Atrix could
I believe most emulators aren't coded properly for ICS. I gave up on them for now. If you want a little boost, try out the dual core mod.
I have also noticed that emulators don't work as they did pre-ICS. My galaxy s2 running CM7 ran bit64/n64oid much smoother than my HOXL does on Clean Rom 2.6.
This is very infuriating. Using it as my phone as a retro game station used to be one of the biggest things I did with it and now I can't. Which emulators have people tried that don't seem to work that well on ICS? So far I know the oid ones at least don't seem to work too well.

Yea from my understanding a lot of emulator dev was being completed a while back, and then everything was taken off the market. A few new emulators are poping up again but they don't seem to be optimised for ICS or JB. A real shame as I too enjoyed the ol Mario 64 and GoldenEye.

How many pages back did you have to go to find this thread lol. But really since then I've found on most emulators the games are actually playing at full fps just fine, it's the audio that is lagging which makes playing them unbearable. On all of the oid's I was able to get no slow downs in video just fine. It's just the audio that sounds like crap. The DAC on these phones just seems to really suck.
Download the slideme market, and search "yongzh"

That's what I'm wondering. I have been trying to play FF9 for ages and just can't get it to run smoothly since he started trying to use opengl (started back on my Atrix) and just gave up. I tried again today and still no good.
I don't use opengl on mine. Although it makes a few things look prettier it messes up a lot of the effects in twisted metal, mainly smoke and water. For now I'm content with the default render settings.
Ah yeah well even my Atrix can do full speed software rendering with fpse. It looks so bad though especially the ff games which looked so good.

If you run custom ROMs like CyanogenMod or flash a custom kernel such as KK, you realise that most graphic issues are resolved. The problem lies mostly with the outdated/poor implementation of PowerVR drivers in Samsung's stock ROM. Custom ROMs & kernels are using newer drivers.
HM I tried to do that with the game in example (Real Racing 3) and it worked but I don't see how to do that with other games

There's some patching tool for Modern Combat 4 that can tweak the graphics if I recall. I think you can check in the HTC One X forum.
But that's beside the point, the main point being that the PowerVR SGX540 GPU is starting to feel a little underpowered as it shows its age. Even if you could force the games to run on high or max settings, performance would take a big hit, in some cases, the game slows to an unplayable pace.
The reason why there are patches, tools & mods to manually tweak graphics settings is because of the fragmented nature of Android, some devices have powerful hardware but have not been properly supported by the game developer yet.
---------- Post added at 04:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:41 PM ----------
By the way, I have checked out the screenshots in this thread, they seem fine?
I would recommend the threadstarter to check out these games on other PowerVR SGX540 devices for a better comparison. If these games look better on other PowerVR SGX540 devices, then it would warrant further investigation.
As I mentioned already, the stock Samsung firmware for P31xx uses older PowerVR drivers according to various modders. By switching to custom ROMs or kernels that implement newer PowerVR drivers, users have reported better graphic performance/compatibility in games.
Well i had bad graphics with brotherhood of violence
I had installed brotherhood of violence game and was surprised to see the difference in graphics between s2 and tab2 for the same game. Graphics were soo terrible that i had tp uninstall the game from my tab and had to play on s2....
Well one possibility to have better graphics is to overclock the gpu(more computations per second) and then use patches for higher settings in games... as previously mentioned in the thread some developers ( mainly gameloff) seriously cap the performance...
u can use any custom kernel like kk's blackhawk/next kernel or dhollem kernel to overclock the GPU... see their respective threads for more info..
Our tabs GPU is clocked at 304mHz by default in stick and cm... these kernels allow overclocking 384mHz and 512mHz..
so the problem of frame rate drops when using patches can be solved by overclocking the GPU...
But we need to remember that Powervr540 is at least 4 yr old technology( i first saw it in galaxy s)... so we need to cut it some slack...
Cheers
