Quick question, Will there be an GSM version of the Photon Q LTE? with removable SIM?
I'm talking about a different variant
the codename for the photon q is the asanti_c, there is a lot of reason to believe a gsm friendly version will come out that will be called just the asanti.

Shouldn't take much more than a hardware tweak on their end at least.

Correct.
It is codename Asanti and the model is XT898. Right now I know it will be for AT&T, but usually you can get an unlock codes for other carriers.
Code:
_._._.XT898-continuous.ATT.en.US
_._._.XT898.ATT.en.US
Great, let's hope other variants will have an unlocked bootloader

As long as the carrier allows them it should. Seeing as AT&T is the reason behind the Atrix HD not being unlocked, (hardware/software support it, just not the Unlock My Device page), I'd say the chance is slim.
There should be international version of the phone, from what I know (I don't know about AT&T version).
There should be one if only for the fact that this is the first high end QWERTY device I have seen in ages

Yeah, with the botched email client that crashes whenever you delete an Exchange message =(
I guess it'll be useful again once ICS OTA hits soon but for right now it's an Angry Birds client for my kids =)

I fixed that bug the day I got my glide, just replaced the APK from the one on OsiMood, and we already have an ICS Update, you have to plug your phone on a PC, start Kies, and search for updates.
I don´t want to be disrespectful, but judging by your answer, I think that Angry Birds may be a little too complicate for your mental capacity, maybe you should try Pong, more apropiated for someone of your generation.

Very sad that it was cancelled. I used a GSM phone overseas (Captivate Glide), and it is silly that I need to use a different phone when home on Sprint.

Nice. Its cool that it supports different devices. Will try to modify my friends MT3G later.
Even though the website screen shots show the Sprint HTC Hero, the description in the market says GSM only. Anyone try this yet?

haha yeah i would be careful using it...it seems like it "supports" a lot of devices but it only looks like theres real support for the g1..so i would be careful using it.
but i do think we should get our devs up there :]
I maybe wrong but it looks like the only thing you can flash for the CDMA Hero is a recovery image, no ROMs yet.
Seems similar to Flipz Kitchen...which is out to donators now! Hopefully this doesn't start another donnybrook around here!

nothing wrong with choice unless he borrowed some stuff from flips?
Is it just me or does everybody just way prefer to take the few extra steps to do this stuff myself I never trust one of these so called auto anything basically
I trusted the Kitchen to root, because I mean what harm could it do. But Flash a Rom? Not a chance I am trusting anything but my self.
I think I will stick with the fresh kitchen until some more reviews hit about this. Wonder if the dev has any sort of checks to make sure you aren't about to really screw up???
ill do it whats the worst that could happen... bad flash? no big deal just boot into recovery lol....
dont be scurd
Something gets labeled wrong in the app you flash it thinking o it says its OK to do and it bricks your phone so yea called me scared but I prefer my phone useable not in paperweight mode
I downloaded it. Looks promising... I hope it works!

Yeap! stupid me had the use only 2g option selected when taking pics. Waiting for my GF to come by tomorrow to do a nice vid.
You will not need to send phone anywhere and it is working on latest update.
It will be a paid service so will not be posted on forums unless XDA allows me to like how they do for the HTC unlockers...
Only like 5 bucks and free to FRM donators...not much...last I am speaking about it so I do not get in trouble with XDA
If I ever decide to get the droid 2 global over the desire z, I will definitely pay 5 bucks for this.
The only thing stooping me to getting a D2G is battery life
so awesome!! I would love this, so it should be as simple as a flash? I would deff pay for this!
If we already have the new update for the global would it still work to flash this rom?
We also have to already have it network unlocked with the subsidy code right?
How do I become an FRM donator and help fund this awesome development?
You go to the team defuse website and they have a link on how to donate, and they also keep you updated with news there

lol this is not right..now I got go back to D2G from the DX after going to the DX from the D2G ..
I swear, my poor return warranty...is battery life any better yet? Especially on fission? and does it work on T-Mobile also?
well i cant wait! i hope XDA allows you to post this even though you are charging $5 for it. i'm going to buy a d2g as soon as this is released!
i cant wait for this! my only question is are there any random restarts on fission?
PS: the baseband is fully unlocked? (im on a milestone right now so i have no real idea about the d2g)

Is the T-mobile in the US? If so, the phone doesn't support T-mobile 3G bands anyway.
So if this is the patch released on FRM then it appears to not work with T-Mobile USA as I just tried it without success.
I would really like to see the evidence that this works at all.
A couple of screenshots with no data connection showing is hardly convincing.
I am well aware that it is possible to do, I have it working on my D2G with both T-Mobile and AT&T SIMs with Edge on T-Mobile and Edge,3G and HSPA all working on AT&T using the DroidBandUnlock method.
Their method makes modifications to the radio and I don't see how it is possible to do this via system level patches.

I am thinking something... What if someone from LG or TMo deliberately put out this update in order to find out who has a rooted device? We know that if they can prove you did root you lose warranty and YOU CANNOT SUE... And if you cannot sue... Well
No.
-Tmobile phone
Lol, nice try but no, not likely.
They most likely leaked this publicly because of the class action lawsuit. Its not complete yet so it just means they are still working on it. Im sure that it was just some big wig at t-mobile or LG that said throw out what we have regardless of whether its done or not. That way by the time the class action lawsuit even begins the issue will be mute. Its just to shut us annoying brats up

Lmao. That's a definite no. Samsung has done this same thing in the past so its nothing new. Most likely the intent was to leak it out on purpose to keep some of us from jumping off the roof. I personally would of rather LG/T-Mobile publicly speak about the matter than to just leak out the software.

Later then on At&t....lol... But I hope very soon..
I'm hoping within a day or two, but you never know with the Canadian carriers. I'm pretty sure we got 4.3 first though, so I'd imagine that it's ready to go.
hope the update will come soon, at&t has already the update....:highfive:it still indicated soon on roger site. hope it will come in the next two weeks:fingers-crossed:. What I like in kitkat above all is the mail, gmail like, and google now is integrated to the launcher. will see how samsung put it in their touchwiz.
Hope it comes to Fido soon. I'm thinking that if it comes to Rogers, then it should be ready for Fido also.
Even though I'm not using any SIM in it yet lol, wonder how that goes. I tried with Keys3 and it tells me I have the latest version (4.3).
I'm mostly excited for the snappier speed! It is sluggish in some parts in 4.3 and touchwiz really makes it slower than it's supposed to be!
Waiting on Telus
Then I'll be cookin'!
Edit: No S4 - 4.4.2 on the
Telus upcoming software updates...

One of the reasons I left HTC for Samsung is faster updates
(I know there are Nexus for that, but Im not really interested in stock Android, except for the Nexus 7)
And now they are making us wait ?
3-4 weeks after ATT updates
Last time I chatted with Telus, the support team mentioned they generally release updates 3-4 weeks after AT&T. So looks like it will be end of March

Apparently they are getting setup of the s6 beta. This is thought to be the reason for server errors.
Maybe, I'm being very naive I'm sure, they are fixing bugs before release. YouTube is broken and other things in the sprint /Verizon release. I'm sure this isn't the reason though
Edit: Tmobile is having server issues. So that's the actual reason for the delay. Just gotta wait. Atleast we know now why it hasn't hit.
