How much is our phone's motherboard if it is fixed in Samsung Service Center - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hi!
its been a month since my phone broke
planning to bring it to SSC this week but im not sure how much it will cost to fix it.. i know a lot of you guys out there already experience this kind of issue (broken internal memory, bootloops) and the only solution is to replace the motherboard, the warranty of my phone is not valid anymore so how much it will cost?
also, some people reported that their phone was refunded by samsung since our phone is already phased out and doesn't manufacture our phone parts anymore..will they refund it even though it was out of warranty? thanks!

Ir depends on condition. Suppose my phone warranty is going to over in next 2 days then within that 2 days if we give our phone to service center then we can claim for anything even after warranty is over.
But in ur case ur warranty is alreasy over so there is no chance of free of cost service.

the cost of the motherboard is about 5000 or 6000 it depends

I had internal memory issue. It was repaired for free under warranty. The MB was replaced.

Lost confidence in this model

On my brand new DS I did 's-off' and 'root' (alpharevx).
It 'bricked' by pulling the battery.
I sent it to the oficial repair center on 5 August.
On 29 August (more than three weeks later ) they diagnosed a misfire.
Motherboard has to be changed, but as I was using 'manipulated' software, the terminal is out of warranty: 193 euros to repair.
It is paid and repaired, I'll get it 'over the next week'.
In summary, this terminal has a serious hardware design problem.
If you're like me, with the 's-off' and 'root', you'll have to pay the repair.
No matter that it's a physical problem: you have used 'unauthorized' software, the warranty is void.
I guess my DS will come as a new terminal: 's-on' and without 'root'.
I am so angry that I think of deliberately provoking a hardware failure, by removing the battery ...
In this case, HTC will have to pay the repair. So again and again, until I get bored.
In fact, I have lost confidence in this model and I'm thinking to sell it and buy other from a different brand ...
I have a Nokia 3310 for sale!
It's a well known fact that messing with firmware voids warranty. That's if you can't hide the changes you made of course.

I now that for you it's like bolting the door after the horse has long gone...
But, for people that have s-off'd and rooted and are worried about this happening to them, if they are the paranoid types then they could insure their phones, I've seen quotes..for our device at about £3.99 a month (+£1 for loss protection). you may even be able to better this look for youself.
So if you were to encounter this problem and you were then to lose your device you'd be entitled to a new one.
Which still comes in cheaper than the repair after 24 months.

i did this. and insured the phone for 6 euro's a month. (not that much considering i have a 15 euro contract for 2 years) and my EMMC chip was bricked/dead. they told me they coudnt do the repair under warranty because i was running MIUI (at the time). so they simpely put it on the insurance. the insurance company agreed as they saw it as an hardware issue.

HTC Repair Quote?

So I sent my phone in to HTC to get repaired, got an email today saying it'd cost me either $185 to get it repaired and sent back, or $35 to get it sent back, not fixed or anything. Here's what the repair tracking said:
Code:
Repair Description
We have diagnosed your device and have determined that due to the following reason(s), your device is out of warranty:
• Case Damage not covered by warranty
In order to properly repair your device, the following action(s) will need to be taken which will require payment due to the out of warranty diagnosis:
• Replace Device Main Board
When I called to get my phone repaired, the guy said it was under warranty until the 28th of January (3 days ago), but since I called before that, it'll be under warranty even if it gets there after.
The amount of case "damage" was incredibly small, and I don't really need it to be replaced, and replacing the device main board sounds more of a manufacturers defect, not something I did, considering I never opened the phone up, and it would turn on (though I could be wrong).
From what I'm reading, I'm being charged because of the case damage, and if that wasn't there, I wouldn't be charged. So does anyone know if I can have them JUST replace the main board so I don't get charged?
I'd rather not pay $185 to get this repaired, and I don't want to pay $35 to have them tell me something was wrong with it, since I already knew that.
If I do decide to pay $185 to get it repaired, would replacing the main board also replace the eMMC chip?
Thanks

[Q] Replacement Dock and Tablet Despite Unlock?

Will Best Buy give me a replacement dock and tablet if I cite the dock malfunction despite my having unlocked the tablet?
I have a similar question here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646723
I think we should be OK to unroot & wipe... **waits for confirmation!**
You unlocked the boatloader?
You've officially lost warranty.
Though, you can allways hope they wont notice..
but thats losing warranty with asus. not best buy, i doubt anyone at bestbuy is smart enough to know anything about it and best buys warranty doesnt say anything about stuff like that. simply, its broke, we replace..
Best Buy Warranty
This depends... if you didn't purchase an extended warranty through them they honor the terms of the manufacturer's warranty. How this is carried out varies from product to product and vendor to vendor. In some cases, the vendor agreement essentially replaces the item out right. In the worst form, the product gets sent back to a manufacturer's authorized service center. Sometimes this is the manufacturer and other times is a third party. I do agree that it is unlikely that anyone at the store level would notice the unlocked bootloader however it may get noticed at the service center.
If you purchased the extended warranty, then most likely the product will not be serviced and it will be replaced.
I will admit that it has been 2 years since I worked in the warranty fulfillment capacity with that company so things may have changed some. Either way I'm glad to have a real job. Hope this helps.
Meh. If they're anything like Walmart, they probably won't even turn it on. I returned 2 tablets to Walmart, and the only hassle I got was from taking the S/N sticker off the second one, and they still took it back.
Does the device say "unlocked" at boot? I just swapped my 16gb for a 32gb and they definitely turned it on to confirm it works.
If it doesn't say unlocked anywhere than I doubt they'd notice.

The device does indeed say that it's unlocked at boot... Will Best Buy actually notice and know what to make of it?

a700 store warranty does it worth it?

my two weeks since I bought the tab are coming up. 2 years warranty at futuershop $100 should i get it? what is acer warranty?
thanks

Do you have renters insurance? If not, get it. is way cheap. Then add a stand alone contents policy to it to cover property away from the home. Then if anything goes wrong they send check for actual replacement cost so can go get brand new instead of refurbished. Plus, for roughly the amount you pay for insurance on device, everything in your home is covered too. Takes a bit longer to get check than carrier/place of purchase, but worth it.
And it covers all damages not just manufacture defect

I'm in Canada, don't think "renters insurance" exists here.

How long is the extra warranty if you don't pay extra?
1 year is usually enough. We'll probably be at Tegra 5 by then anyway. lol.

[Q] Repair cost?

I do not yet know everything that will need replacing on my s3 or if it is worth repairing due to the damage. I have not yet taken the phone apart.
I can say for sure that I will need to replace the
Touchscreen
LCD
Battery cover
Case/Housing
From what I have seen of the damage I do not think the phone is worth trying to fix.
Do you have insurance or Not? If you have insurance its worth doing a claim otherwise, I would say its worth fixing.
Unfortunately no i don't have insurance on the phone, as I do not like sam's club policy.
I will add pictures when I find a working camera.
