DoDonPachi Resurrection and Espgaluda 2 released Worldwide - Xperia Play Themes and Apps

Hey guys, DDP:R and Espgaluda 2 are now released worldwide and I'll link to them below.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ggee.vividruntime.gg_1549
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ggee.vividruntime.gg_1550
I know they are both listed to be compatible with our devices. Sadly they are Verts (never thought I'd have to say that, I can count the number of Horis that aren't R-type clones on one hand) so I can't imagine they are optimized. Still, I'm going to hold out hope that they are optimized until someone gives them a go and tells me otherwise
About the games; DDP: R is a port of Do-Don-Pachi Dai-Fukkatsu with some smartphone exclusive ****. i haven't played Dai-Fukkatsu yet so I can't comment on it but generally (despite their legacy, think Beatles; yeah they influenced a lot of my music but that doesn't mean I care for them) I find the series to be pretty standard as far as bullet hells go. Would love someones opinion who has actually played the game though since my speculation is really just bull-****.
Espgaluda 2 I have given a go and I absolutely love it. Espgaluda 2 features a smartphone mode as well and from what I've gathered is otherwise a pretty direct port and would be hella fun if not for touch screen. Hell, shmups on touchscreen make fighters look like a good idea but I just thought I'd give you guys a heads up since these are two pretty big name games and our device is explicitly listed as compatible.
Oh, and since we're talking shmups here I thought I'd list some of my favorites to play on the Play even though I don't have the links for them in the app store
Esp Ra De, Donpachi, DoDonpachi, Batsgun, Raiden 1 and 2, G-Darius, Gigawing, Mars Matrix (a personal favorite of mine), Progear, Ghost Pilots, 19xx, R-Type, R-Type Delta and Last Resort.

[REQ] Music/Rythym game?

First of all I hope this is in the right section.
I was hoping to find some awesome music/rythym games later in the Android Market.
Well, it's been about over a year since Android was released, and I still see a lack of good rythym games!
My request is for a developer to try their best and create a well-designed music game, hopefully using our own music from the SD card..
That would be awesome!
Do you mean like this?

Id like to see multitouch implemented somewhere in one of these games ...

No, I know this is on the market, but we need something better.
Guitar Hero mobile for Android wasn't exactly the best experience I've had.
I have been asking for this game to come to Android since I got my G1. Mainly looking for the NIN Edition!
http://tapulous.com/
Even sent them a request, but so far nothing has come of it. I recommend everybody request it, If there is enough support they might port it.

Can't post links yet, but this is the original thread starting from last year, stating that if theres enough demand, they'll try to port it.
some of you may have played it before but this is a steam game called Audiosurf
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTZTPdDW7PM
a game like this would be awesome on the nexus... basically it produces a unique track based off of each song for that song and its a sort of tetris game where you have to match the blocks up and such... was well worth 10 dollars on steam when it first dropped, i had countless hours of obsessed fun on the thing

That's a very good game, but it needs to ne refined more. But we REALLY need a game like TTR or Audiosurf, I have nothing against taps of fire, but I don't like playing on amazing. Too much for my thumbs.

Everybody should request it so we can get it ported.
In the mean time, I found this:
http://code.google.com/p/tapsoffire/
Somebody mentioned it in this thread already, but I searched the market for it, but it didn't appear. It probably wasn't designed for the Nexus so it didn't show up, but there is a Droid version available from the Google code page. Free and open source!
One of the best music games is Taps of Fire. I have it installed, I recommend others to download this app too, only bad thing is having to hit the notes a little early, but its fine.

WordWise - Scrabble type game!

Finally! I've been waiting for a game even remotely close to Words With Friends for the iPhone to come out and I just found this the other day. And no, this is not a plug... I didn't make the game, I'm just excited about it and wanted to spread the word

wow, 8 bucks for that game compared to 1 dollar for wordwise in market. lol.
EA Mobile (makers of the iPhone Scrabble game) also makes an Android version. Oddly, they make it near impossible to find, purchase, and download.
On some Android phones you can simply go to rim.eamobile.com and find it by browsing. It's $7 just like the one a few posts up but if you like the iPhone version you might prefer this one since the interface is nearly identical.
That said, browsing the EA Mobile site does not work on all Android phones in which case I'd recommend using "User Agent Switcher" in Firefox from your PC to trick the EA site into thinking you are browsing from a compatible device. That's what I had to do and I'd be happy to post instructions if anyone needs them.
Alternatively, if you send me a PM I'd be happy to share the apk so that you can test it out before buying.
EDIT: I just saw the version on Handbrake and interestingly it is also made by EA, however, the interface is quite different than the iPhone-esque version available through the EA site (at least when I bought it a month ago). They are either selling multiple versions or did a redesign.

Seems to me like the official one doesn't support online games. From the site it states the following game types:
Play alone
Play computer
Pass and play (which to me sounds like handing your phone back and forth)

My thoughts exactly. I can buy the physical game for $10, and a used one from a garage sale for no more than $5.

thanks for the tip!

Where does one get "HD Games" for the HD2?? (Droid beating WM?)

Hey been getting irked abit that the windows marketplace sucks.. I know EA has games on their site one can download.. however.. if you noticed lets take Need for speed games. WM version looks o.0 crap. While Iphone and hell Droid versions of the game are \o/ and fun with motion control.
Now Im sure the HD2 has some good things too.. but where are they hiding? Anyone know? Or is this online game world turning into iphone droid only (For the best gameplay stuff)
Quite like Asphalt 4d - motion control is a feature but I turned it off. Xtract (free) is good too with nice graphics. If you want really good HD style games though on the HD2 get the playstation emulator and you'll never look back (and other phone owners will be very jealous). There's a free version but it's worth getting the supporter version as it makes it a lot easier to control the games. Search "tekken 3 on hd2" on youtube and you'll get the idea.
James
So the supported version plays better on HD2? I tried the regular one before.. didnt get anywhere with it.. Now before I do get it... is it enjoyable WITHOUT Cobolt ps3 controller software?
I guess im more annoyed that the only reason I like my iphone 2g.. is just for its games.. has some nice ones, even my G1 has nice ones, then I have my HD2.. and all I can say is "My Puzzle Quest is fun.." >.> Yea.. heh.
totally agree that there aren't that much quality games for hd2, but you might give a go to:
Electopia
Experiment 13
OddBlob
Platypus
Catcha Mouse
Police Range
Super Boxing
Tiki Towers
Droplets
These are really good games and I would say that their quality even matches the ones made for an iphone.

You're right. The game selection sucks. Lots of the developers are saying it's just too hard to develop a nice graphics game for Windows Mobile. While some like Xtrakt or Project 13 are ok, they aren't fully supported. They require little work arounds that I just feel makes the games not live up to the "fully supported" title. They just work. Then there are some that are just sprites cut into different poses like the ones Zarpy makes. They aren't bad but not the high def like you're asking for. So far, yeah the PSX emulator will be your best bet. It's pretty much the only one worth having and paying for in my opinion.
there are abunch of games just have to look.

Pls stop posting Warez links....
There are plenty of games out there but we dont need Warez links round here.....
If you want a list of what games are available try here
Or here is another one I found
There are tons of these threads about... Just Google it..
Plebs posting Warez is getting worse these days.....
Here's anther thread I want closed out...
Do you want XDA to loose its credibility and get shut down?
You want something? Go and pay for it like the rest of us!
Eroc, one can search sure, but you got any links to what your posting? Now that blogspot had some good apps I needed. Like the Jspa program manager.
Snowblind what are you on?? Who is asking for Warez?! Im asking what games are good that are in higher quality. Marketplace sucks for finding anything decent, even going to EAs website doesnt give you much. Yet the HD2 came with some "HD" versions of games. yet you cant find them.
Now forum posts I know there is a "Apps thread" and so, however its not like its linking "Hey here is EA, Gameloft, website for HD2 games" or so.
So again, so far no warez links are on this thread, nor was it being asked for. Im just getting annoyed that Android phones of the same thing for HTC are getting better games then Windows mobile is.

Xperia Play hits 400 games, and I've created a website to database them all!

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is a very big deal for smartphone gaming. As a previous iDevice owner who noticed the potential for games on smartphones was exploding, it was pretty sad to see that that growth was stifled by touch-screen controls limiting what we can do and how deep a smartphone game is allowed to be.
We've seen physical gamepad solutions try to get smartphone gaming out of the "touch-screen gaming ghetto," devices such as the iControlPad, Gametel Controller and 60Beat controller... and they've all had such poor software support that they've pretty much failed to be anything more than emulator assistants.
That is, until the Xperia Play came along last year.
While it may have been initially written off by those who (incorrectly) presumed it's specs wouldn't be able to handle newer games, Xperia Play's picked up loads of momentum since it's release, got tons of AAA developer names backing it (such as Rockstar, Namco, Square Enix, EA, Sega, etc), got every benchmark gaming title on the platform under it's belt, and grew from an initial 40-60 games to 400 faster than any button-based gaming handheld in the entire history of gaming.
And I'm here to provide a database for Xperia Play gamers worldwide that databases them all!
XPERIA PLAY GAMER | ENTER
A big thanks to those who helped donate!
• Logseman = $10
• FTAiii = $10
• paxChristos = $10
Thanks to your efforts, it's now a .net!

It also features a mobile version that serves as an multi-market integrated method of linking directly to the specific Xperia PLAY version of any given game. You won't have to worry about whether you need to go to the EA Flexion Store, Gameloft Wapshop or find the specific version in the Google Play Store because I've taken care of all that - I sort of anticipate that this mobile version will become even more valuable than the desktop site.
TLRtheory said:

As you can tell, this is a very rough project.
The database is only half done, things are very messy if you aren't using Google Chrome (especially on IE), a lot of the sorting options don't work yet, many functions aren't implemented and that may not even be it's permanent address.
But what it's planned to be is a completely Xperia PLAY centralized site that's major focus is to show what the Xperia PLAY brings to the table.
The Xperia PLAY game list I've created seems to have caught quite a bit of attention and made something of an impact, but the way it's designed means it can't possibly accommodate more than 400 games - this site will showcase everything, link to video media, offer a complete forum for each and every game as well as display Xperia PLAY-oriented articles (such as showing how drastic the percentage growth of Xperia PLAY games has been since launch, showing how it can run games like Dead Space just as well as dual-core devices such as the Galaxy S2, noting how it's the only current handheld gaming system that has an overwhelming majority of it's games rating higher than lower, and so on). It'll also feature a mobile version so people looking to get non-market games will have no hassle.
As one could indicate, it's not even close to being done. About all you can do now is play with the scrolling featured games list and click on "GAMES" to display the complete list of games. But feel free to offer comments/suggestions.

Nice to see another dedicated site. I regularly check http://www.xperiagamer.com and will definitely be bookmarking yours too
Most delicious.
Looks great so far!
Thanks for all the kind words! The project's progressing rather quickly, but at the same time it's far from being what I want it to be. Everything's being coded from scratch so I move slowly, but get more control over how this progresses.
I just wanna play a little awareness-raising game; it's quite a shocker to be on engadget or such, and every time Xperia PLAY is brought up, you see someone who's amazed to find out that it's grown from a couple tens to hundreds of games in such a short time.
So I figured the best way to illustrate it is by hitting them in the face with a huge patchwork of games. Glad to see you like it so far.
May I suggest using Drupal to do the website? It's so much faster and easier...
I can even help you with if you decide to do it.
Cool.
You know what would make it even better. If you upload some psxperia games to the website.
There are a lot of noobs like me who just can't get the psxperia tool to work.

Yeah, that and I'm sort of going for a theme here where I keep it *pure*.
That means no PSX, no emulators, not even OnLive. I'm trying to show that Xperia PLAY's game library has a large quantity of quality releases without having to piggyback off systems of past generations.

Interesting idea, I am a little bit surprised about no OnLive (maybe you could just add a forum for emulators/OnLive (then again, there could be a problem with people requesting games they don't own, and all the legal ramifications that could include))

sorry, i don't wont to be rude, but the code of your site is orrible, with a lot of very stupid error: for example you don't have the html tag or the doctype tag, but the main problem is that you use a lot of deprecated tag such as center or font (and probably this is the problem because the site look well only in Google Chrome).
ps: sorry for my bad English

...did you miss the part about it being incomplete? I know what's messy, what's missing and what I need to do before this is clean, organized and standardized... and well beyond anything you've told me, at that. What you see there is likely not even gonna be the final layout, it was thrown together very hurriedly just so that a frame would exist for the database to output to.

I'll definitely be giving them their due attention, but I'm treating OnLive in the same regard as I do an emulator since that's essentially what it is.

Thanks so much for this man!!! Brilliant!
nice site, always glad to see people taking interest in our phone!
with onLive! i agree and disagree. it is basically an "emulator" but its one that you could play Dirt3 on your pc then when you are on the go you can pickup right where you left off on your phone and get nearly the same experience.
i still haven't tried onlive yet but as they keep making things smoother and hearing more feedback from the xperia play people, i might take the plunge, adds a lot of games to our phone

N-Gage Emulaor - Request to .EMU developer

I emailed Robert Broglia who is the awesome developer of so many .EMUs on Google PLAY store about a possible N-Gage emulator. I realize the phone was horrible but it did have a few gems, Glimerati, Asphalt (yes the same as we have now), and of course the three reasons to own an N-Gage Ashen, Elder Scrolls Travels: ShadowKey, Requiem of Hell.
Yes, I owned an N-Gage and at the time enjoyed it, but for those games above alone this phone was worth it. If anyone is interested in this possiblity please email Robert at the address below and ak/encourage him with support for this. I think it would be kind of cool to play N-Gage games on our Xperia PLAY seeing as how both phones were touted as gaming phones.. obviously the PLAY is much much better contender for that title then the N-Gage... anyways please contact him if this is something that you would like, you never know what might happen.
And for those who think this is a stupid thread that is your opinion and you are entitled to it same as myself and others are...... but if you dont like this thread keep it clean and on topic in a positive light, I DO NOT want this thread to go down as a "trash the N-Gage" thread. Thank you.

Excellent idea. I loved my N-Gage regardless of what people thought of the phone side of it. My favourite games were ashen, pandemonium and Colin McRae.
On another note, I was looking for a gameplay video of ashen a year or so on youtube for reminiscing purposes when I discovered ashens videos, which now take up most of my time when I sit at my computer!

Just a thought though. The N-Gage was a portrait screen which will be quite small on the play if we were to use gamepad

I thought about that as well... the portrait screen.. perhaps if its reated Robert could add in screen stretching..... it may not look right but perhaps having the option in place for users to decide.....
Also, if a Sega 32 & Sega CD (working) were released..... Silpheed (SCD,) Lunar (SCD), Knuckles Chaotix (32x) Shadow Squadron (32x)
such a good request ...
i'm with you , i love emulators more and more than gameloft games .

Despite the ridiculing the 32x received, I loved mine. I got Virtua Fighter for Xmas the year it came out and I remember waking at about 4am Xmas morning and playing it for about 6 hours straight!!!
There were some other games that were good as well. Star Wars Arcade and Stellar Assault I enjoyed, and although the fighting wasnt great, Cosmic Carnage was really impressive with its scaling effects! And dont forget Doom!!!

Hey guys - you efforts are nice - but did you ever think about:
- That .EMU dev ist the real developer of the emulators he provides - according to his HP he just ported them to android using his Imagine-Engine.
- Developing an emulator for a single person takes AGES if there is no former work or knowledge on it.
- Did he even answer to your request? Like: "lets see how many people are interested in? Or do you just call up to spam that guy heavy?
- A short google search on an n-gage emu - doesn't bring up much (might be cause the n-gage was a big fail) - at least no former open-sourced emulators (ok I just spent 5min on it - so i might have overlooked one). So even if you spam this guy heavily - he propably can't do it.
I know - you didn't mean it that way - but please be sure to have some conversation with a dev before you call up for a spam session in a big and open forum.
regards

I have been searching for over a year keeping an eye out for an n-gage emulator with no luck. And as such I decided to contact the Dev for the .EMU series of emulators in hopess that he would be interested in it as a possibility or at the least he may know of someone who may or may not be able to help. When I created this thread it was my intent to get others who would be interested in an emulator as a means of genereating interest and contacting the dev above. I know you probably didnt mean it to sound that way but I do not appreciate the words "spam session" as this is not my intent.
When I think of an idea or find something that I feel others may enjoy I like to share it, this is simply nothing more then an idea in hopes that if contacted with the right individuals would turn into something more. So please be cautious of just slapping "spam session" on something.
Now.... lets turn this back to the thread on topic. If others may find or think of another developer to contact please bring it up. Thank you.
Apparently there WAS an Ngage emulator for Symbian called N-Gage Cool back around 2005, but the developers site and all sites hosting it have long since stopped working. I found one working link to it on an emulator website, lets just say it was a paradise, but it has gotten nothing but terrible reviews and claims of being a virus. Regardless, there is a precedent for a mobile Ngage emulator.

Thats the N-Gage 2.0 where it was a software platform designed to run on different Nokia phones. I had that on my old Nokia N-95 8gb a few years back. What I am referring to is the N-Gage phone from 2003/2004.
Edit: Or did you mean ngageman? The old emu from 2007 for newer nokia/symbian phones?
