I can't believe it, so i just received my gTablet from Amazon, and this is what I received. What a SOB, I wonder how many people fall for this and don't realize that its a fake.
Any advice on how to get my money back without any hassles, because the guy is probably long gone by now.

WTF! This is definitely a SCAM!
Sorry you got taken.
I have always found Amazon to be extremely helpful. Anytime I call them to complain/return something, they tell me to keep it and then refund my money anyway. I have gotten a lot of free stuff over the years.
It may take you some hunting to find the phone number for Amazon customer service, but it could be well worth it. I would give it to you but I have it at work and have only called them from there.
However, the fact that the marketplace covers independent sellers means you are taking your chances in a lot of cases. I only buy from people who are enough of a partner that Amazon does the free shipping and I have never been disappointed.
Good luck!
Ouch! That sucks. I'd recommend contacting Amazon's fraud department and their customer service department and seeing about what recourse is available to you. If they're unhelpful (though I doubt they will be as I find their customer service to generally be pretty good), there's always that friendly little thing called a chargeback which tends to inspire greatness from companies to help you.
It could just be an honest mistake. If you assume that Amazon ships 100,000 items each day, and that they have an efficiency rate of 99.999 % of items correctly delivered, then at least one person is sure to receive a wrong item in the mail.
The more items you ship, the more someone is bound to get something they didn't order even with phenomenally accurate item tracking. Amazon is generally very nice about this sort of thing. If they determine that it is their mistake, and if you live outside the US, and the return cost is excessive, they generally tell you to keep the mis-shipped item and then send the correct one along free of charge in a few weeks.
That item looks like the ZT-180 I bought off Amazon some time back. And yeah it sux huevos alright.
Was there an order slip inside the box from the seller? If so & it says Viewsonic G-Tablet then I highly doubt it was a mistake.
The main problem is that it wasn't directly from amazon, it was from a third party merchant on their site. So it makes things just a little bit more complicated and time consuming. I doubt it was a honest mistake, after checking the sellers profile I saw he had like 90% negative feedback.
After calling Amazon(good idea BTW I was starting to get scared), they assured me that if the seller didn't help me out, that I would get a full refund. So I guess that's good news. I just hate to go through the hassle, and wait even longer for my tablet, I just wanna play with it already.
I hope woot! has another deal soon...

Yeah, like I said - Amazon has NEVER done me wrong.
Here is someone who may be interested in letting theirs go for a deal http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090546
Bestwholesalegem?
I filed a claim too, but haven't gotten it in the mail yet...figured it was a scam 2 weeks after ordering so i went out and bought one anyway

It looks like the little Army guy had too much to drink there
Was it from bestwholesalegem? I ordered one too. Im sure it will not be an actual g tablet tho.
However i did read this today
"If the buyer has received an item that is materially different and have not received a response from you with return instructions, he or she may file a Guarantee claim for the purchase. Once a customer is reimbursed for an order via the A-to-z Guarantee, Amazon.com does not obligate that customer to return the item they received. However, you are welcome to contact your customer directly to arrange for a return of the item."
Quoted from the amazon sellers claim faq
If you can get around the whole moral issue i guess you might end up with a free chinese knock off tablet to make up for your lost time.
Or the seller will ask you to ship it back. In that case its up to you either just ignore him and keep it (which you legally can), or ask him to pay for return shipping (you can include price of gas/"handling") and ship it back. He probably wont be willing to pay the 30-40$ for shipping anyway.
Yea the seller was bestwholesalegem I see some of you were also tempted by the low price. I wonder how much much money he maid off with ...
Well I'm gonna file a claim now, and see if I get a response from the seller. I was so relived when I saw that the purchase was backed by the Amazon A-Z Guarantee.
Time to look for a new one I guess.

How does a seller with 90% negative feedback sell anything to anyone?

He was a new seller and had no feedback when he started selling. I'm a seller on Amazon as well and we all start with nothing. The price wasn't drastically better than everything else ($269.99 + shipping), and you're not taking a monetary risk buying through Amazon, only a risk of inconvenience.
i am interested to know how you claim goes
and how long it takes for it to resolve
I'm interested also as I was one of the ones that received one of those tablets. Since before I ordered from him I ask what the return policy was. He assured me I had 30 days to return the item if I was not happy with it. It came in, I opened it and immediately fired a email off to him advising him I was returning it as it was not what I ordered. He wanted to give me a credit, but I held out for the money refund. I have all the emails to back up what the conversations between us was for Amazon if I have to file a claim with them.
Good luck and hope you get your money back.
I have sold a few items on Amazon and I know thet they keep the money for a while, they don't transfer it automatically to the seller account - especially if you are new to them.
So Amazon doesn't loose nothing, you get to keep the knock-off. Just act right away, don't wait 2 weeks...

This is a good policy to go by, because these items are shipped by Amazon's warehouse team and all returns go straight to Amazon. There is no need to deal with the merchant. HOWEVER as an Amazon Merchant let me warn you that there is no special approval needed to sell like this. The program is called Fulfillment by Amazon, and any brand new merchant can sign up. Also Amazon doesn't verify that the units shipped through this program are genuine.
Just thought you should know.

This should tell you your report was nothing surprising to him.
I wouldn't bother with trying to resolve this with him, go straight to amazon and remember to leave him the appropriate feedback.
I recently posted a link in a thread for a N7 case that I think is a fantastic deal. So, being the person that I am, I wanted to share my find to all. The reviews to the product are in terrible English and all have 5 stars and the product isn't even in stock yet. I am now very concerned not just for my sake but for all who have purchased through my post. I now have emailed the seller a few minutes ago and am awaiting a reply. I received a receipt through amazon that has my multiple different purchases included. Here is the link to the product and I would appreciate any input on what you all think as well as any suggestions for corrective actions if need be..

sure looks like it. personally I don't buy products from amazon unless they're fulfilled or sold by amazon. The main reasons being to guarantee free shipping, and no tax (watch out for that last one as some companies though have to charge tax even selling from amazon), of course there is also the assurance that it is actually a real product (quality not measured) being sold rather than a scam like this.
Hello guys!
Im thinking of buying a HTC cellphone.
And Im worindering if it is a genuine.
ebay.com/itm/NEW-HTC-One-XL-4G-16GB-Android-v4-0-8MPix-4-7-inches-IPS-LCD2-Smartphone-BLBLACK-/181342168709?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item2a38d5e685
Thank you!
It's impossible to tell from the listing, I'm not sure what you think anybody here can see that you can't see. The price looks about right. I would suggest you take a look at the seller's negative feedback here:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...=25&iid=-1&de=off&which=negative&interval=365
Thanks for replying!
Well, I know that it's hard when it is still listing, but I thought that you guys could have some experience regarding the description of the item and the photos too!
I will wait a little longer to have more answer from you guys before to buy it.
Thank you!

Well the images used in the listing are stock images of the One XL, they're not images of the actual device. Everything looks legit, but we all know that looks aren't always indicative of reality. I'd take a close look at the seller and decide whether you want to give this particular person your money in the hope that the device is the real deal. Personally, I wouldn't buy from that seller, I saw multiple reports of devices never showing up after payment, or devices being refurbished rather than brand new. I think your chances of actually getting a brand new device two years after they went on sale are pretty slim, it's more likely that any device that's listed as new is second hand or refurbished.

Both the photo and the description are just stock, cut and pasted from the HTC website or other "specs" websites. There is nothing in there that would indicate anything specific or reliable about the actual item being sold.
All you really have to go on is the seller's rep, which as timmaaa mentioned doesn't look too promising. Considering the complaints of counterfeit or falsely descriptions (actual item used instead of new as described), I personally would avoid this seller.
Also, don't know where are located. But unless you are in Hong Kong like the seller, returns or exchanges may be problematic, or at least time consuming and expensive (shipping fees). When purchasing items like electronics, I like to keep them in my own country at the very least, to simplify the process in case a return/exchange is needed.
Mod Edit: Xda is not the place to do business of any kind. Thread closed.
Why should we pay for review units? You say you'll be placing a refund, but why not just send out the review units without payment.

i agree,
pointless
Furthermore, this is the Note 9 forum! Not S9/SO+
The seller is looking for Amazon sales guys.
If he just sends out the unit, there is no guarantee that the people who hes sent them to will post a review but at least if they purchase then there is a record on Amazon of a sale which will also help him build his business.
He says they are offering them for free, but then why is he mentioning a refund via PayPal?
Ive been screwed by things like this before. Ordered something I didnt really need, went to go post a review so they would give me the money back, and Amazon blocked reviews, so I did not get my money back.

Yeah,I'd steer clear of this:
JMHO,the whole thing is disingenuous.
While technically they may be within the rules on Amazon,it's just semantics, they're seeking favorable reviews in exchange for goods vs. an honest/unsolicited opinion.
For relatively inexpensive items, reviews are worthless,as this paid endorsement tactic is used ad nauseam.
Amazon tries to keep it to a minimum, but,I imagine it's virtually impossible to stop it altogether.

I got in contact with the OP and received an email directly from Choetech regarding the free review unit. I placed the order and provided them with my Amazon order number and they sent me my refund via PayPal within 24 hours. I definitely understand the hesitation but what do you have to loose? If they were to stiff you after placing the order you could just send it back to Amazon for free and get refunded.
Any-who I now have a Free USB C to HDMI cable that I will take to work and use my Note9's DeX with.

My problem isn't with getting free gear, it's the whole thing of Choetech circumventing the rating/review process.
Why not just have a drawing/contest, something with a smidgen of appearing to be on the up & up?
The fact that they're working around the payments is proof that they are expecting a favorable review in exchange for freebies. Not the best way to instill confidence in their product ratings....
If they were so confident in their products, they wouldn't be resorting to this tactic, they'd let legitimate buyers input their own unsolicited reviews without any quid pro quo, or, appearance of it.
I know they're not the only ones that use this tactic, but, since they went as far as starting a thread on the subject, I went ahead & posted my 2¢ on the subject.

Yeah, feels a tad dirty. They make decent stuff though. I've gotten a few Choetech things over the years and it's always been quality stuff. I actually have one of their USB-C to HDMI adapters and it works great.

That's the sad part about this,it's unnecessary.
I did a bit of Googling on the company & AFAICT,they can get by on the merits/quality of products alone w/o the quid pro quo.
You'd be hard-pressed to find someone in the forums who hasn't heard of Choetech,I think they'd do better to have a sponsored article here @ XDA on occasion,if they feel they need to further market to the membership here.
It'd likely reach a wider audience & have have an equal if not better bang-for-the buck vs the quid pro quo in the OP w/o the baggage.
I received this in the mail this morning re a Note 9 case I returned. I know this has been occurring for some years on Amazon but I still was surprised by the stupidity of this person. I will not publish the name of the company here but ....
Hi Peter,
Happy Tuesday Morning.
This is xyz from ABC case. How are you these days? Hope you are fine!
May I ask if you received our last email?
We are contacting you for the review you left to us on the date: July 31, 2019
We are sorry to hear your 2 problems about our case, 1 is the inner TPU case. 2 is the smell.
We understand you do not satisfied with this case, and we get contact with you and want to provide with the solutions and issued you the full refund. While after check your order, we find Amazon has issued the full refund.
On the Amazon.com, 1,2,3 stars would be a negative review which means customers are not satisfied with their purchase. Customer satisfaction is very important to us. As a small business, your review goes a long way with this case until it stops selling. Your review is so important for this case and maybe the efforts of all our workers are in vain because of a review.
Could you please do us a favor to take a few minutes to delete the review if we pay you another CAD$30 commission via paypal?.
I hope that even our product failed but our customer service won't. We hope we were able to sufficiently assist with this matter and would appreciate your understanding and consideration.
Thank you so much for your kind understanding!
Looking forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Cases like these are unfortunate, but to some extent expected especially on platforms that aren't as tightly moderated. If you felt being petty, the seller's reaction alone would warrant a 1 or 2 star review, but you should probably stick with your 3 star review and just report the seller to Amazon if you didn't already.
On a side note, are you sure this post belongs here? Aside from the article sold being a Note 9 case, I don't see any further relation to this subforum.
I've had that happen a couple times. I reported them to Amazon, took their free gifts, if they sent any and left my bad reviews of their products. I made no promises to change reviews.
I learned from eBay that these seller care more about the rating than they do the money for that product.
You get much better support from them if you say you'll have to give them a bad review.
