3 ROMs only EDGE network - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi everybody, thanks for taking the time to read.
I am new to ROM work, have successfully installed CWM, nandroid backup'ed my original stock 2.3.3 and installed the three ROMs (Temasek's CM7 build 135, CM7 official build 7.1.0.1 and Hellfire phoenix 2.3).
On all ROMs i can only get EDGE cellular network. I have dialed *#*#4636#*#* to access the hidden phone info.
Current Network - T-Mobile
Network Type - EDGE
The preferred network type is set to WCDMA prefered but I have tried GSM only, GMS auto.
Other settings - Settings/wireless & networks/mobile networks:
*Data enabled
*National Data roaming enabled
*Network preferences - GSM/WCDMA auto (also tried GSM/WCDMA preferred)
*Network operators - T-Mobile and AT&T both appear, have tried T-Mobile and select automatically.
After searching the forums I have tried the following:
1. Restarted in airplane mode, disabled airplane mode
2. Re flashed all three
3. Restored nandroid backup of stock 2.3.3.
Only #3 worked to restore anything beyond EDGE network.
Currently on:
ROM - Temasek CM7 build 135
Included Kernel - 2.6.32.55-cyanogenmod
Baseband - ROM included m6600a-scautnz-2.0.970t 1 (Jul 15 2011).
Any ideas?

Use GetRIL to determine if the RIL matches the baseband. If you don't have it, download/install it from Play Store.

Bingo, RIL didn't match baseband, chose the default selected RIL (v21e),downloaded it, refreshed, rebooted, same thing, didn't work.
Then I tried V10f, did the same as ^, still didn't work...
Could I get some expert advice on useage of GetRil?

Update - I have tried all the RILs available, gone into airplane mode, rebooted, killed airplane mode.
Still nothing more than EDGE.
I read in the help section of GetRIL that apparently I need busybox (don't know what it is) so I downloaded it, repeated all the above.
Still nada.
Anybody been here fixed that?
Looks like everybody is working/playing with the new ICS leak toys - calling it a night, any help appreciated tomorrow...really don't want to roll back to dumb 2.3.3 stock with all its issues

I'm sporting your ROM as well, but live in an area where if I am LUCKY I get EDGE (How, some of NY can be TOTALLY clueless to technology escapes me!!!). When I travel down to Westchester and NYC though, I do get an "H" for my data connection so I believe I'm at least getting a "3G" connection then (as I don't believe it's a true 4G connection with download/upload speeds of only 200kbps).
Once I am there I'll take a look at my settings and see what I get though.

Thanks that would be great. I am in an area that does have 4g coverage (from stock 2.3.3 useage).

Only use the RIL that matches the baseband. If you have your network settings properly configured and your phone only gets EDGE, it could be that there's no 3G/4G in the area you're in or there's something wrong with the hardware or firmware. If you are in an area with 3G/4G, CWM your phone with a vanilla ROM and kernel which will elimate those as a reason. If there's still a problem, reflash the .kdz firmware. If there's still a problem, I don't know the solution except for you to take it to a service center and have it diagnosed.

Ok, just for kicks I just restored the nandroid 2.3.4 rooted (ROM?) that was in the dev section, immediately got 4g coverage
Baseband (apparently not included in nandroid backups?) set to M6600a-scautnz-2.097.
Downloaded and ran GetRil - was set to LG-p999-v21y (DOESN'T MATCH BASEBAND)
Network mode was set to GSM/WCDMA auto
APN was set to t-mobile
Phone info (*#*#) was set to WCDMA preferred but actually showed as EDGE in the network type (showing 4g on status bar)
So on all that, the Ril doesn't match the baseband but its still showing 4g connections, lol.
If nobody has any interesting ideas I'm inclined to flash the stock jul 15 2011 baseband, think that could work?

Rolling back to the 2011 baseband will require you following similar instructions as per: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610597 but you will be needing the KDZ file for the 2011 baseband.

What about going to the new baseband?
Its my understanding that I'll lose bluetooth calling, which isn't a big deal to me if most other things work.
Can somebody point me in the right direction to upgrading to the new baseband or do I just flash the first file on this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1776843)

[Q] 3G "No Internet Connection"

I am having issues with my 3G Xoom... Yesterday I went out on the road and my 3G showed full strength (4/4 bars) on 3G, but it says "No internet connection" in the status. WiFi works fine.
I was Stock rooted with the 1.4.4 Tiamat kernel. I tried everything known to man, including wiping everything and flashing Tiamat ROM 1.1 w/1.4.5 kernel. (Also tried toggling airplane mode, changing roaming options, etc.)
I heard rumor of a "3G Fix" in the Tiamat 1.0 ROM, but didn't want to load the full ROM if at all possible if I can stay stock by flashing a Radio, Kernel, etc.
Just found a 3G fix Zip file, flashed it, and still have no internet connection.

My APN is fine. I called Motorola and they ran me through those settings. I ended up shipping it back to them, so I will have a fixed Xoom, or a new Xoom sometime next week. My guess is the radio and/or antenna is somehow messed up.

[Q] Different Roms, Different Radios, Same Problem

Background:
I'm on AT&T, Unlimited Data.
I've had my Inspire 4G for about 4 months and for the most part I have been running Leedroid. Recently, I've been having trouble with not being able to make calls, but able to receive calls and use data. When I try to make a call it drops immediately. As soon as I press Call, it flashes to "Call Ended".
I thought that a clean wipe and flash would solve the problem and I've also made sure that I'm running the correct radio (Suggested radio) and matching RIL.
Neither of these ideas fixed my problem, so I flashed CM 7.1.0-RC1 and again checked the radio firmware and RIL. No dice. I've tried to search around the forums to make sure I wasn't overlooking something obvious, but I haven't found anything.
Also, I do have a good signal when I'm attempting to make a call. It seems to only happen in one part of town and I'm wondering if it's something to do with this part of the network. Sometimes if I cycle the radio on and off using airplane mode it will work long enough to make one call. Sometimes if I go into the Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Network Operators > and press Select Automatically, It re-registers on the network and all is fine for about 30 minutes.
Side note: My data speeds have dropped from 4000kbps to about 700kbps.
Current info:
Android 2.3.4
Baseband 15.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
Kernel 2.6.35.13-cyanogenmod-g87a2eba
If anyone has run into this problem or has a suggestion I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Data can be different at different times at&t is notorious for that. its odd that it only happens in one part if town, that leads me to think that it has to do with towers and signal.
If it was happening all the time, I would think different, but it only happening in one part of town, and it only recently happening, thats signs of tower/ signal issues I would think.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
I feel the same way. I'm going to run an experiment today. Using Open Signal Maps, I'm going to note the tower that I'm connected to when I start having problems. Then, I will drive a distance away until I have connected to another tower and see if that resolves the problem. Otherwise, I'm still stumped.

I was having the same problem, more so with data then calls. I too am running leedroid however I tried his recommended radio and noticed a huuuuuge different in dl speeds. I tried waiting a day but couldn't do it. I flashed the stock radio and ril and everything is back to normal from what I can tell. Try that and see if that helps

Yeah, I've tried that. Didn't work. Thanks though.
Just for grins, you could try a different radio. 26.09.04.11 was never released on the Inspire nor the AT&T network. Keep in mind that Lee is overseas in the UK using another network provider, so I would take his recommended radio with a grain of salt. If I were you, I would try 26.06.06.30 or 26.10.04.03. If you're using a Sense ROM, then use RIL 2.2.0160HM with it. If you're using CM7.1.0-RC1 or a newer nightly, then stick with the default RIL (2.2.0018G) because it's tuned for AOSP ROMs and is known to work very well with all stock Inspire radios.
Regarding your poor data speeds, be sure to reconfigure your custom ROM to use the stock APN settings. No custom ROM on this forum (except for those heavily based on the stock ROM) comes with the true proper stock APN settings that are needed for full speeds in some markets. Link to the APN settings is here.

[Q] Public Wi-fi bug

Okay, so me and 2 friends have rooted our phones. (I have sensation, they have sgsII) but now none of us are able to connect to our schools wi-fi (Public) Everyone else (no root) don't have this problem...
And another question: what do a the radio do? And what difference can it make to flash a new radio?
:EDIT: Forgot to say what was wrong with the wi-fi; it gets stuck on "obtaining IP-adress"
Flashing the radio will allow your phone to pick up a better signal, I found that when I put the 4.1.7 ARHD rom on but didn't flash the radio I would only get a weak signal on both 3G and wifi. Last night I flashed the new 4.1.8 update and the associated radio and have much stronger signals.
What may also help is to settings>wireless & networks>Wi-Fi Settings>Soft menu key>advanced> and then check the Best Wifi performance box >soft menu>save.
Bump. Any suggestions?

Radio (and RIL) basically controls access to the Radio operations, 3G, WiFi, BT. If you install a custom ROM it'll come with a Kernel but the Radio needs to be installed separately IF it needs changing.
I usually get this error when I've mistyped the WiFi Password. Sometimes the number of WiFi channels configured on the phone might be different to the WiFi network. This is somewhere in the WiFi settings, under Advanced (after menu button as explained in the earlier post) possibly regulatory domain. My phone is dead at the moment do I can't confirm where.
When you installed Root/S-OFF did you also install a new ROM ? If so did you make sure that the phone has a compatible Radio. The Radio required version should be stated in the ROM's thread.
If you look in Settings->About Phone.... somewhere in there it'll say what radio you have on the phone.
Other than that It should work fine, just rooting the phone shouldn't affect the use of WiFi.

sky ice network issues anyone else?

ok I tried download new UL2 modem I follwed dirrections first off NO ltw (maybe not in my area) but 4g icon only 2nd my download speed like .15mb
then I reflashed the UL4 modem one comes with now I get decent speeds but seems cut off a lot.. this isn't huge issue as I use wifi at home but when im out and about (which havn't tested yet) im not sure.
now I did follow UL2 let modem direction wondering if changed setting RAT setting shouldn't have... if u reflash modem to rat settings go back? when flashing modems back forth I read you delete Dcache and cache which I did but am I missing something? something else do after or something... thanks
when downloading with just network it cuts out stops in middle of download ... i dunno what deal is anyone else got info on this? if I reflash a modem back do i need fix permsions?
well i flashed orginal modem working alright guess thought icerom have better donwload speeds but wow its slick and clean looking I really like it :O) yaaaa
I had no issues with the ucld2 radio while I briefly tried it. I'm going to be honest a say u don't seem experienced enough to be messing with the RAT settings of the radio, and should leave the default settings alone. On first boot after install dial *#2263# and set to auto, then menu > end, and reboot.
Make sure your apn is set correctly, especially if you are with rogers. Using the ltemobile.apn with the skyrocket even in an area without late results in data drop outs, as the phone searches for late signal. Same goes for AT&T. Make sure you are using 3g apn values, which will work fine for 4g.
I'm having the same problem. I tried Sky ICS 4.2a, then 4.2a-8, then 4.2d, and now 4.2a-9.
I've been using UCLD2 on these and had no problems, until today when I installed 4.2a-9 and all of a sudden I can't stay on LTE more than a couple minutes. It drops down to HSPA and drops the data entirely. I've NEVER had this problem, and I've tried every radio there is. I flashed back to UCLC4 and I'm still having the problem.
I'm searching the forums for a fix right now. I might just wipe again and start over with the base/modem.
EDIT: I've tried changing the RAT on both new radios by pulling the SIM, setting LTE/ALL, then Automatic. No change.

[Q] Have no network connection on EaglesBlood ICS?

First off what's weird is that in the Access Point Names it shows Simple Mobile(which I use) and T-Mobile. Usually when I flash a new Rom it only shows T-Mobile.
Secondly it will not let me edit any of these two APNs.
Still no service when I have the little bubble checked on either one. What's going on?
nothing?
I am going to say this even though you probably already tried it, but have you tried doing a full wipe and reinstall? If not this could fix the problem. Are you able to see the percentage of your battery? If it just stays at 100% and never changes you should look in the about phone in the settings and see if it can see the baseband as no baseband no ability to read battery and no working network abilities. If you can't see the baseband then get the app called GetRil and see if you can get a compatible one to get yourself back up and running.
If none of what I said above applies to your situation then you should try a different kernel. I am running EB AOSP 4.0.4 build 2.5 with the Harsh kernel with no problems.

I have a similiar issue just the variables are slightly reversed ( I am on T-Mobile, don't even know what Simple is, using GB roms, not ICS) Even made a similair thread on here. 2 Things, are you shutting down and then booting up or are you rebooting. I only get my data back when I reboot. I can't shut down and manually restart.
Secondly, when you go into the about phone section, does your mobile data network section say connected or disconnected?
