Getting my Verizon S3 tomorrow. Anything extra I should know? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I plan to root and unlock it when I get it. I know the unlocker is only compatible with some firmware versions (or am I wrong, and it doesn't matter?)
What should I know to look for before I unlock it/

to my knowledge you should be able to unlock on all current firmware - just be sure not to accept any new OTAs. you can get EZ unlock from the play store to do it really easily once you're rooted

I'm getting mine tomorrow finally too
I think I may play stock a few days just to get use to it (who am I kidding) the last 4 hours I've been reading up on rooting, unlocking, root tools, google wallet, odin, CM10, other available roms and about everything and anything i can find and read all while eating jelly beans , bet i don't last 2 hours before its rooted and on CM10 or some rom

Hahaha I got the gs III 2days ago in the mail . I didn't even turn her on plugged her in for full charge . When the led turned green I turned her on and bam had her plugged to computer . In 30 minutes had her rooted , unlocked , backed up IMEI and flashed ...

Help with skyrocket

So my girl just told me her skyrocket wont turn on and a battery pull. I dont know
anything about the skyrocket but having the GS2 for Tmo i feel like its pretty much the same device to work with. I have not looked at it yet. But my question is, is there any odin file that will give me root access and custom recovery at once? If i can get her phone to go into downloading mode i want to just be able to odin it and bam.
any suggestions?
shes running stock.

Look in the dev, section.... under how to root..
NexusMod 4 and faux123 version 10
If it's not rooted yet and is having problems, then don't root it now... Take it to att

As always, make sure the battery is inserted correctly. You can attempt a factory reset using the stock recovery (you would use the home softkey instead of the power button on the stock recovery) and see if that fixes it. If not, call att or take it to a store.

Cheapest way to unlock Rogers phone

Wondering what is the current way to unlock my Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE from Rogers. Is there a free way to do so or do I need to go through the unlocking code websites (if so which one is the cheapest)?

Thanks was this way tested on Canadian phones as well? Also do I really need to bring the phone back to stock ROM? Will that unlocking method make my phone permanently unlocked or will it disapear once I flash to another ROM? And finally what modem should I flash it to, I saw several in that thread, not sure if that has to do with the service provider or phone type?
You should read more. You have to bring to stock, make a nandroid of where you are now. It will permanently unlock you.

Returning phone to Verizon, broken USB port, cannot flash stock firmware through Odin

Help! I can't flash the stock firmware through Odin for returning the phone to Verizon. The USB port on the phone is broken. What do I do? Can I put the stock firmware on my SD and flash it through TWRP?
Yes you can but they can still get into recovery or download one and all but I don't think it'll be a problem.
If not flash an international rom and hard brick your device leaving no trace but a jtag lol jk don't do that

Or you can buy mobile odin and use that...
Verizon doesn't care. As long as your not sending it back because of something you did flashing or rooting you'll be fine

And why do you say that? They will find any reason to not honor the warranty.
Op use mobile Odin. You can buy it or the light version is available to xda members.

not saying do this, but I always send my phones back rooted.
in fact, when my sg3 had that issue ere u had service but couldn't make call or txt, and this was before the fixes were around so i brought to Verizon, and left TWRP recovery on it and she booted into it!, she actually was looking at the CPU screen telling her how to do it, it said to press power button, which obviously locked the TWRP, so lI said just swipe it, go to to wipe and do a factory reset, which to my very surprise she did, and after about 3 hours with the manager on the phone with tech support, they gave me a new phone.
If you are not in a rush. You could always buy and replace the USB port by buying one through eBay. They are like five dollars with free shipping ha

Gs3 no WiFi after root

I rooted my gs3 today with no problem. I have root access and CWM installed. I came to find that I cannot turn WiFi on. Did a quick search and seems that I'm not alone. If I flash a new rom do you think WiFi will work? If not I need some suggestions. Thanks !!

Your wifi should be working fine after rooting your phone weird it isn't. You could try flashing a new rom that will probably make it work again.

I read somewhere that I used a wrong version of gs3 toolkit. Evidently it happened to someone else. But you think a new rom should enable it to work?

Oh I see, yes I am quite sure a new rom will make it work again

Depending on just how wrong the toolkit you used to root was, I'd suggest completely wiping and returning to stock and hoping you didn't do something really, really bad - but only time will tell.

Fake gps locations/ mock locations

Ever since i upgraded my note II to 4.3 none of my fake gps apps work anymore. I used it a lot in a game i play and am very frustrated that i cant anymore. Does anyone here know how get it working again? My phone is rooted, but the bootloader is still locked. Ive almost bricked it once already trying to flash roms, so im hesitant to try again until i can get a new phone and use this as backup.

You can unlock bootloader and even change your ROM. Search your device type here on xda and read first the comments from the people who already have changed their ROMS. If they don't have significant problems why should you worry.

Im not so much worried about the process, im more worried about screwing it up lol. I am a noob to rooting and flashing roms. But thanks for replying.

Try downloading "Fake GPS Pro" from the play store, it works with android 4.3
