Sorry for the stupid question but how much does this device cost with a 2 yr contract with T-Mobile. The website says 149$ now but is that the final price or will the final price be 50$ after mail in rebate? And is the price gonna drop anytime soon(hopefully on September) I want this phone more than anything right now but 149 is just too damn much for me.

Yea I've had the chance many times but Im hopeful that the Christmas season and the possibility of the HTC one x + coming to T-Mobile will drop the price significantly. My phone upgrade is on the 18th of October so all these will hopefully lower the price to like 50$

On T-Mobile's USA website this phone is $149, after $50 rebate. You can get this phone in Bestbuy for $79 and no rebate needed. I was on bestbuy's website and the phone was $79

Yes with 2 year contract! There is one weird thing that happed. I had an older data plan which had unlimited fot $20. It was before the time when T-Mobile introduced 2G/5 and 10GB plans. On all other phones that I had including: Galaxy S and S 4G, Galaxy Nexus, Nokia Win 7 phone and so on, I was able to use Wifi HotSpot with that old data plan. Now when I got HTC One S, it stopped working and every time I wanted to activate hotspot on my phone, a page would open up, stating that I need to pay for $15 extra... So I called customer care and told them the above story. She told me that my plan is old and about 6 months ago the company started to monitor and charge users for hotspot service. She said I would have to pay $35 total. So at the end I made her do it for $20 for 2 year. So now I have new plan with 5GB+hotspot. I think phones with Android 4+ t-mobile started to block users without hotspot plan. So you know.

Wow that sucks! I'm assuming that since you're on xda your phone is rooted which means you can get FREE wifi tethering apps in fact that's one of the main reason people root in the first place. You should look onto it if you don't already know by now. Its just what you need!

You might have a decent shot at getting it waived since you weren't made aware of it at the Amazon showroom--all depends on the CSR you speak to.
Use the "valued customer" card along with your monthly "loyalty" charges. Complain nicely and maybe it'll work. What do you have to loose except the time wasted on the call?
I called to protest the fee and they gave me a month's free service. Which for me is triple the crazy upgrade fee in the first place. If the first rep doesn't give it to you, call a couple more times.
Good luck.
If you read the contract paperwork you probably signed without reading...it tells you that you will have an upgrade fee.

In regards to the OP, call them and tell and talk to them to waive it. Its a stupid BS fee, you already have to sign a 2 year contract, basically paying to pay for something. Silly stupidity, but hey..... its verizon..... they gave us a locked bootloader too....

Other US carriers already have an upgrade fee if I'm not mistaken so this isn't a Verizon only thing. This doesn't make me any happier knowing that money doesn't net a return nor directly improve service in my area.

There's an upgrade fee if you don't buy the device at a Verizon retailer. They give you a $30 discount in stores and online, they just want your business. If you diddint get your device directly from Verizon, you loose the discount.

This isn't true since I ordered online on verizon's site and they didn't give me a discount, I even tried to get it wavered by talking to reps on the phone but they just said its mandatory.
The only way you won't pay for an upgrade fee without having to complain is if you have a business account. I upgraded to get the S3 and my total didn't include the upgrade fee and the rep at the store said that business accounts are immune to the fee
Try third party retailers like wirefly.com
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
I called on Fri. to upgrade from a Droid X to S3, not on a business plan, and while they did mention the $30 activation fee they waived it without me even asking.
Also for people looking to upgrade at subsidized price and keep unlimited data, vz reps are definitely still allowing it as I was able to do this on Fri.
I'm on a family plan for 3 phones, I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out a new plan that can use data usage with out worrying. Here is my current plan:
1000 Talk - $59.99
Unlimited Messaging - $20
3 Phones with 200mb - $10/each ($30)
3rd phone added to line - $10
Total = $120
Do you guys know of a better plan or way to get data on the phone that is unlimited but throttles it if needed?
Well when my wife had T-Mobile the only thing they would offer her when she needed to upgrade was a 2GB/5GB/10GB options. Since they wouldn't let her keep her unlimited, that's the only options I'm seeing via their website still. Either or would be better than 2/300MB.
You could've got unlimited talk, text 4gb 4g a couple months ago. About 70 total.

Smh, so I might just transfer to my brothers account and just split the bill. I'll get add a line - $5, android web - $20, and insurance, $8 or $4. One of those. And once split between me and him it will be about $70 exact a month

Okay so I'm 18 have a minimum wage job "yay my life is so great" blah. Minimum wage here is $7.25 btw. Forget all of them contract plans. Straight Talk is way cheaper( 43.22 a month), offer 4g service, att coverage, no contract, and semi-unlimited everything( talk, text, and data.) THe only drawback is that they seem to have temporarily discontinued att sim cards thus its kind of hard to find them. You probably can find one in a phone or on ebay or something.

Check out Wal-Mart Family Mobile. I used them for a while. Was very happy. $45 a month for unlimited everything (throttle data after 2GB). Runs on the t-mobile network. Only concern was lack of short code and call forwarding support. Other than that, I just put my account on automatic payment and never had to contact them again after the initial setup. You pay at the end of the month (it's not prepay), there are no contracts, no credit checks, and you can even pay your bill in person at any Wal-Mart.

Ok if you havent heard att has a new deal that allows you to get a new device on your plan every 12 months. The catch is your billed 39 dollars on every bill. At least that's what I think....
Can someone explain to me if I'm missing something. Now when I tried to do this I still had to pay a large amount, 2yr, 1yr, and full retail, even though I wanted to do the Next deal. I'm almost due for an upgrade in 2 months any how. Is that the reason?

Also, with this "deal" you end up paying at least a 3rd more than the price of the phone for a normal upgrade. I think, if I remember correctly, that the s4 was going to be around $270 over the life of the contract as opposed to the $200 you'd pay for a normal upgrade.
Seems like it's a rip off to me, but to each their own.

I think going to use this next program for the note 3. According to my upgrade page it will $35 a month for 20 months but I will be able to upgrade in a year. So instead of $300 upfront and a $36 upgrade fee, it will be around $420 for the year plus the fact that not gonna get insurance on it cause I'm gonna "lease" it for a year.
I'm still going to keep my skyrocket though on my work line.

To me the thing to know is the trade in value at the end of the year. In other words will you recieve any money back or not when you return the phone. The note 3 retails for 799. 299 if you get the two year contract. It's 37 a month with the next program. If you keep it for the whole 20 months thats 740 bucks. So your getting a little over 7% off the full retail value. If you keep it for the 12 months then trade it in you'll pay 444. Will you get any of that back when you trade in the phone for next years model? That seems to be the unknown here. As far as not getting insurance goes that is a really bad idea. You break or lose it and you'll not be able to trade it in hence will have to pay the full term of the next contract I would think.

Yup that's what you do but they will try to con you into edge because they want your data! With this you still get a year to pay off your device

I spoke with verizon rep today!! Apparently they have a new promotion for those that are on the unlimited data plan. They're wanting to sign up those customers on their new promo of 6gb for $30. Only available for those that are on the unlimited data plan currently and wanting a new subsidized phone.

?? If you have unlimited, it's going to stay that way unless you change it. It shouldn't expire. (At least till Verizon decides to screw us all)

You don't need to sign a contract if you're not planning to upgrade. You'll just be a month to month customer with the current plan you have.
How much is the "first payment" for the phone? Is that the $200 that you would see as if you were buying a new plan?

No it would not be 200 your first payment is your first months payment and a one time finance charge up front then the rest is on you bill for 11months

Ha I just got it. You didn't change anything on your contract just got the phone on a device installment plan. I didn't realize that they allowed that. Which means that the Note 3 would be around 60 $ a month for 12 months. That's good to know I'll look into this. Thanks.
