What carrier should I choose? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Okay so I'm 18 have a minimum wage job "yay my life is so great" blah. Minimum wage here is $7.25 btw. But I feel like taking on some responsibility and leaving my parents cellphone plan (AT&T) and going to T-Mobile. Good idea or no? Sprint is pointless in my area because it barely gets any service here. And Verizon. Just no. Any sort of input is gladly taken into consideration and thanks for all the help! ;*<3

One way to find out is to go into your local cellphone provider establishment and ask how far do reception go. Be sure to ask about their packages there a plan for anyone.

Well from what I know t-mobile in my area gets 3g and at&t gets 4g. But At&t just screws you over. I compared and t-mobile is like $60 a month and at&t is $80 with same exact service package. Just trying to figure out if it's a good idea

Forget all of them contract plans. Straight Talk is way cheaper( 43.22 a month), offer 4g service, att coverage, no contract, and semi-unlimited everything( talk, text, and data.) THe only drawback is that they seem to have temporarily discontinued att sim cards thus its kind of hard to find them. You probably can find one in a phone or on ebay or something.

You pay for the phone in your contract. Buy a phone on swappa or some other site. The money you save off contract makes up for the up front purchase of the phone.

+1 going from $70 to $40 is $30 and then times that by 12 you save about $360 a year

Check out Wal-Mart Family Mobile. I used them for a while. Was very happy. $45 a month for unlimited everything (throttle data after 2GB). Runs on the t-mobile network. Only concern was lack of short code and call forwarding support. Other than that, I just put my account on automatic payment and never had to contact them again after the initial setup. You pay at the end of the month (it's not prepay), there are no contracts, no credit checks, and you can even pay your bill in person at any Wal-Mart.

Phone Esn?

Hello I just bought an s3 from tmobile and it's brand new in box I bought it with contract and can't pay for the bill due to some job trouble and I was strolling to the marketplace here in xda to sell it, but in some topics I read that if you don't pay for your bill the phone Esn will be blacklisted and people won't be able to get service with the phone, is that true? Does that make my phone worthless even though it's bnib? Thanks for reading

It's GSM so they CAN'T blacklist it. That only applies to CDMA devices (Verizon, Sprint, Boost Mobile, Cricket, Virgin Mobile, etc.)
So I can sell it without the buyer worrying about anything

T-Mobile price???

Sorry for the stupid question but how much does this device cost with a 2 yr contract with T-Mobile. The website says 149$ now but is that the final price or will the final price be 50$ after mail in rebate? And is the price gonna drop anytime soon(hopefully on September) I want this phone more than anything right now but 149 is just too damn much for me.

Yea I've had the chance many times but Im hopeful that the Christmas season and the possibility of the HTC one x + coming to T-Mobile will drop the price significantly. My phone upgrade is on the 18th of October so all these will hopefully lower the price to like 50$

On T-Mobile's USA website this phone is $149, after $50 rebate. You can get this phone in Bestbuy for $79 and no rebate needed. I was on bestbuy's website and the phone was $79

Yes with 2 year contract! There is one weird thing that happed. I had an older data plan which had unlimited fot $20. It was before the time when T-Mobile introduced 2G/5 and 10GB plans. On all other phones that I had including: Galaxy S and S 4G, Galaxy Nexus, Nokia Win 7 phone and so on, I was able to use Wifi HotSpot with that old data plan. Now when I got HTC One S, it stopped working and every time I wanted to activate hotspot on my phone, a page would open up, stating that I need to pay for $15 extra... So I called customer care and told them the above story. She told me that my plan is old and about 6 months ago the company started to monitor and charge users for hotspot service. She said I would have to pay $35 total. So at the end I made her do it for $20 for 2 year. So now I have new plan with 5GB+hotspot. I think phones with Android 4+ t-mobile started to block users without hotspot plan. So you know.

Wow that sucks! I'm assuming that since you're on xda your phone is rooted which means you can get FREE wifi tethering apps in fact that's one of the main reason people root in the first place. You should look onto it if you don't already know by now. Its just what you need!

Need a Better T-Mobile Plan

I'm on a family plan for 3 phones, I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out a new plan that can use data usage with out worrying. Here is my current plan:
1000 Talk - $59.99
Unlimited Messaging - $20
3 Phones with 200mb - $10/each ($30)
3rd phone added to line - $10
Total = $120
Do you guys know of a better plan or way to get data on the phone that is unlimited but throttles it if needed?
Well when my wife had T-Mobile the only thing they would offer her when she needed to upgrade was a 2GB/5GB/10GB options. Since they wouldn't let her keep her unlimited, that's the only options I'm seeing via their website still. Either or would be better than 2/300MB.
You could've got unlimited talk, text 4gb 4g a couple months ago. About 70 total.

Oh yeah I saw those and if we decided to go to that plan we have to pay a migration fee of like $400 per each device or something.
They remove your upgrade and you lose money overall

Yeaah I know, its kinda dumb especially its all T-Mobile plans they want to charge a migration fee just so you can lower your bill. Smh, so I might just transfer to my brothers account and just split the bill. I'll get add a line - $5, android web - $20, and insurance, $8 or $4. One of those. And once split between me and him it will be about $70 exact a month
Ugh, I'm paying $180 for 2 phones with data plans on Verizon..... I wish I could get 3 phones for that cheap lol.

Yeah T-Mobile is great when it comes to prices but getting a good plan is hard, you really have to capitalize on offers and stuff.

Solavei wireless

What are your thoughts on this company? Both as a user, or a reseller?
The info I gather is you get unlimited everything, with a 4gb data cap on T-Mobile, for $49.99 a month. That's $10 less than the T-Mobile plan which is only 2gb cap. And $5 more than straight talk which throttles you if you stream anything. Thoughts?

There are several users claiming to be on their service, without being in their mlm. Lots of interesting features allowed over other tmo mvno. But no recent "deals". Activation, sim, shipping and such start to add up. Coming close to tmo's latest $70 unlimited noncontract plan. I'd be willing to check the service out if they offered the same deal as before of the end of last year.
Mlm? Also there's no activation anymore it's just $49 a month now.

Multi Level Marketing
Anyways on Solavei, it is an interesting MVNO, much due to the fact it has free roaming and conditional call forwarding. Both postpaid features, with Solavei the only exception. They also state the data (4gb) at which they throttle, which is a trustworthy action to the consumers unlike ST. If you can actually refer people well, this has the potential to be an incredibly cheap or even free plan.

Bumping this thread up, I joined as a customer as well as in sales, it's legit for sure, met with my sponsor and all, so far I love this whole idea and evening about this. The two selling points for me was data size with the rest of the features being unlimited, and having not just T-Mobile, but also having AT&T available as needed.
AND I got a completely mint s3 for $300.

whats your best phone and contract combination?

so I have been looking for ways to keep my Verizon service and my data... this is my plan...Craigslist for a note II...then Verizon has an unlimited month to month for fifty dollars no contract...of course my contract is up... but from what I seen upgrades are about three months before contract expiration...even with my 20 percent discount through work there is nothing cheaper when comparing contracts to prepaid fifty a month

Hop on swappa and get what you want. If you have unlimited data and get a subsidized from Verizon they'll cut you off.

yeah... i was fishing to see if anyone had a better plan...i will look at swappa... thanks... we have a thing in Houston where you bring your phone and do unlimited for 40 dollars a month and you use att or Verizon towers depending on your phone...but I haven't met anyone that has tried it...also I was wondering about places to shop for the note II...or try waiting a couple of months for a better phone... i also read somewhere people were keeping their grandfathered contracts by going to the Verizon store and the sales person can do it with some slight of hand....
