My only complaint with my Photon Q so far is not having a removable battery.
I was thinking of picking up this Anker or the cheap Chinese knockoff I saw on Ebay.
Any opinions based on experience with any of these "power banks"?

Personally, If I forget to charge the phone I've forgotten to charge the backup battery as well. You've also got the added bonus of always having to carry a usb cable around with you!
I don't know if I'd place much trust in the chinese knockoff but I guess its always hit or miss.
I bought a usb charging wrist strap on thinkgeek mostly cause its versatility seemed neat, connectors for all sorts of devices. I sadly was using a blackberry at the time but it charged it perfectly fine, the shift and photon don't charge with it for long, like 1-2 percent and then act like its disconnected. I haven't tried with the phones off, it may possibly work fine if the phone is powered off.

I was looking at the same battery pack. I might jump on it. If you get the next level up as well you get $10 off on amazon. (This only is in consideration for me since my friend needs one too...) So $75 for both the 5600mah model and 8400mah.
I never really forget to charge my phone...it just runs out. My Epic was not the best...I always kept a spare battery around and I'd need it even on normal days. So I guess I have to get an external one like this. I guess it's more versatile in the end.
Oh right and as for the knockoff, I'm usually all for trying them but this one doesn't seem cheaper enough for me to get it. Since I'd just be carrying it around a lot for emergencies (or, long days) I'd want something I think I can trust to hold a charge for maybe a month without me checking on it.
duracell powersource mini
i have the Duracell powersource mini it does it job, it will fully charge the photon q from 20 to about 90% but that is also with the phone on, so it is still using the battery while it is charging also, and i like it, if you check around at some of the truck stops, they will have them, i got 5 for 7 dollars each
I have the RAVPower and it really saved me at Comic-Con. Fully charged my XT910 MAXX twice and had a bit left over!

According to their website, the Tylt only has 1500mah compared to the 5600mah of the Anker.
If this is true, the Tylt = FAIL.
I have a tylt purchased from sprint store that is 5400 mAh and its been real great addition to have but honestly this phone gets double what my my 1800mAh batts I got for the epic gave me.

Just to play devil's advocate in fairness to 903, you didn't provide a link to said official site and the information you referenced yourself either, and even with the qualifiers, the all-caps 'FAIL' descriptor could also be interpreted as a bit aggressive from the start. You could have instead simply said 'If this is true, then it appears to me that the Anker is a better/superior solution' or something along those lines.
Not trying to help facilitate an argument here by any means, just saying there's 2 ways of looking at either post, and regardless, there's no real need for anyone to get their feathers ruffled IMO.

He/she never post their "claim" information saying that they went to tylt official website yet it took me 15 seconds to:
Go to tylt official website
Copy the link to power plant
Go to xda app

Logic doesn't always apply when talking about people. Was a simple misunderstanding, no point in continuing past that.
Some of these posts make me laugh......
Regardless, the Tylt that was introduced by 903tex is a BRICK compared to the Anker.
The comparable sized Tylt to the Anker is obviously the one I was talking about and I provided the link below.
The Tylt with similar exterior dimension to the Anker is 1500 mah and is a fraction of the 5600mah provided by the similarly sized Anker.
So, the Tylt IS a FAIL.
http://www.tylt.com/zumo/index.html
Best Buy has a version of the Anker called a "AGPtek" on their website.
But, it appears to be sold by a 3rd party on Best Buy's website.
Can anyone explain this?

I ordered the Anker from Amazon and I'm happy with it.
It easily fits in my front pocket with my wallet and keys and it charges the Moto Q in about the same time as a wall charger.
I just place the Anker on a desk/table/bar and and lean the Moto Q on it while it's charging like a prop stand. Pretty inconspicuous and convenient.

I guess i got lucky. Last year i saw one on slickdeals by P/A tech (some knockoff) but its 11000mAh and has a 1A and a 2A charge port. I can charge my phone in like 2 hours on the 2A port and get 4-5 charges out of the battery pack. Best part is, on the deal it was like $25. If you have the patients, watch those sites. A lot of stuff that comes up is junk but every once in a while you find gold.

While using the infuse while charging it will made you think there is something wrong with it feels like it's not charging right? Yes because the big screen and the 4g suck all the power. So don't be alarmed it's normal. Returning the battery and have it replace will be just wasting your time.
Solution: buy this:

I have tested it and worked great forme, it's 1500mAh so don't expect same as 1750mAh but does the job. For me, took me almost 3.5hrs to drain the generic battery of non stop using it with 4g streaming justin.tv
Edited:
added link of reviews of buyers who bought batteries from eBay.

If you check the link reviews above, majority tells its worth and perform or even outperform some.OEM batteries,
remember this OEM batteries is made from China, and this non OEM aka generic batteries are made in China too, they didn't made this from scratch, they just copied the OEM. And now they sells 1800-1900mAp batteries for infuse I might try them.
Catch when you bought these batteries, only charge them on the charger that comes with it. Because Samsung phone cab detect OEM and generic batteries.

Another thing if you want to charge faster buy a $2-5 1Amp aka 1000mah micro usb ac adapter, I remember I bought mine from ebay too,1 charge my infuse for a little over our less 3hrs. Now with the infuse, my iPad2 is for sale on craiglist, no more use for it. The 1Amp car and ac charger I have it already before my infuse so don't shoot me

Okay that's just scary when you modify the physical attibutes of the battery to allow it to fit into the phone. I'd avoid that.

Yeah, I'm a powerseller on eBay, and when someone opens a case it certainly gets my attention, because there's a huge push to resolve it and not make eBay touch it... but I opened a case and they didn't respond after several days, so eBay had to handle it... and 99% of the time eBay sides with the customer, because any responsible seller works with their buyer... not this one tho... oh well.

No.. If someone opens a claim, it holds the funds until the claim is resolved. If someone is a top rated seller or power seller, eBay often just eats the cost of the item and closes the case. Either way if it goes to a claim, eBay will almost ALWAYS side with the buyer, so a seller has the utmost motivation to work things out with the buyer.... it's gotten bad the last few years because there are a lot of people who scam the system, and buy stuff of low value knowing if they open a claim ebay will auto close it and refund them, or the seller will, to save their reputation. Unfortunate. Part of the benefit of being a top rated seller and\or a power seller is that you get discounts on final value fees... which can be huge because eBay loves to charge. I'm only bronze, and I get a 20% discount on final value fees (which are already about 15%).
In order to maintain powerseller\top rated seller status and keep the discounts, there are a bunch of metrics (volume of sales, ratings from buyers, cases closed without requiring escalation, etc)... and they all come together to determine a seller's reputation.
So short and simple, no, they don't get fined... but eBay makes it financially beneficial for sellers to keep buyers happy and resolve issues directly with the buyer. Too many cases opened against the seller, and eBay revokes the discounts... a high percentage of cases opened, and eBay sanctions or suspends the seller all together. Many of the asian sellers have feedback ratings in the 98-99% range... which is actually not great considering 1-2% unhappy out of half a million is still a lot of pissed off customers. eBay leaves a seller alone until they drop below about 90%... but either way, I tend to stick with 99%+ sellers to avoid these types of issues.

Ditto. However, having a spare battery does come in handy in certain situations.
For those who travel a lot like me, it's very handy to have a spare oppose to an external charger. It's much easier to just pop a fresh battery in and not have to find a charger to stand next to a wall outlet to make calls...
I do admit though, the HTC cover is pretty funky...it's a first...very odd...

Wait so you already have some?? Shouldn't your experience tell you all you need to know?? Unless you meant that you only have the generic 1500mAh battery.
I know the Anker 1800mAh is supposed to be pretty good but since I've gone with the 3500mAh fatt batts....NOTHING else compares, not even the OEM 1800mAh
You found a 3500 that fits??
I have some genric 1500's right now at I get random shut downs though I think that is gb related.
I found on ebay 3 1800's and a wall charger for 11 bucks out of hong kong. Free shipping.. sounds worth the experiment

Im guessing that 3500 has an extemded cover

Yeah, I use the one's with the extended back cover, nothing compares to their value or battery life.
I'd be interested in seeing how the generic 1800s do though, I have one 1500 generic and it's never given me random restarts but it was a little weaker than my original OEM. I'd say go for the bundle if your interested, you'll easily get your $11 worth.
I just can't go back to slim batteries anymore myself
How thick does it make it... I bought. The extra large battery for the orginal touch pro.. made it look like a gray twinkie

It makes it thicker but it feels nice when you're using the keyboard IMHO, you get used to it.
the phone is about maybe 3/4" from 1/2" just from using my eye's best guess
I wouldn't recommend the generic they don't last as long even though they say 1800mah. get the OEM Samsung ones for the epic touch $22 shipped. I just got one it's great

I got "OEMs" for my Epic and my wife's Evo that I doubt are really OEM, though they say so. Life seems less than our many-times-cycled original equipment. I got mine RIGHT before I read the 1800mah thread, so I have multiple reasons to be po'd at myself.
I have the 1800 batteries and found I only got around 2 more hours from them. The trade off for 2 extra hours were not worth extra thick phone.

Not sure about the generic ones but the OEM ones definitely fit. Rocking one now and it is awesome. Finally don't have to charge my phone during the day. Highly recommended.

I just bought these generics and they got here yesterday I'm still working on calibrating them. So far they seem to work great. Ill post back after I have a chance to kill the battery and recharge it a few times. On a side note what's a good app to find what apps are killing my battery just so I can get a good idea of what these battery can do.

Well I will have to say these batterys work very well. I get way more life out of these then I do my stock 1500 mah. Plus I have 3 of them so I am able to keep a extra on me just in case. I would recomend buying them plus they were cheap

beezie42, what is the name of the seller you bought the battery from? I found several vendors on ebay that have that deal. Can you post a link to the item you bought? Thanks!
How about these generic batteries?
Hello XDA, big fan behind the scene so I am coming out.
Found these Epic 4g Touch batteries and want to see what you great experts thought about them before buying them.
Just wanted to know if this will fit my Sprint Epic 4g SPH-D700 phone with stock back side plate.

They are generic 1800mAh that I have also seen on ebay.
Looks like a great deal to get 3X 1800mAh Batteries plus a charger for less than the price of a Samsung OEM 1800mAh battery.
Thanks for your input...=)

I just got 2 of these and a universal battery charger for about $20 w/ Amazon Prime shipping =).
Took pics of my first charge cycle. Let's see if this works...
That's almost 3 hours of screen time, 40 minutes of talking, 10 hours total. They do seem better compared to my OEM Samsung 1500mah. And they're cheap, to boot!

I was searching through amazon today and found this qi charger that is exactly the same as the Metrans wireless charging puck found here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Metrans...LG-Nexus-4-E960-NOKIA-Lumia-920-/230947777125
I looked through the video and photos and they both say air box on the bottom. They are exactly the same in terms of design and quality even though this is listed as GMYLE for some reason. Its almost $20 cheaper. Here is the link on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Generation-Pr...e=UTF8&qid=1369339242&sr=8-1&keywords=metrans.
When I bought it there was 7 left, now there are only 6 left. Its $37.49 + $4.49 shipping was is a great deal instead of buying a cheap plastic, generic one.
only difference I notice is the status led. the metrans is white. I've never seen it green or red during charging.

I'm debating on whether or not to buy it. I've read the thread and the review from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153418 and I think it's awesome but have always shied away because of the price + availability in the USA. I don't have any excuse now... so I might buy it. I love the auto-off feature when it gets hot but at the same I feel like the phone staying at high temperature for an extended period of time while it charges may not be great for the long term.
EDIT: Did some research on GMYLE and found their official website with the Metrans MWT02 product listing here: http://www.gmyle.com/collections/ba...cy-charger-with-1000ma-current-output-us-plug
Their website looks pretty cool.. of coarse that doesn't mean that their selling original products but it's more likely that they are.
EDIT 2: I noticed on their website it says that Input:
DC 5V / 1.2A
Output: 5V / 1A
while the eBay and the review from the thread listed above states that it should be
Input 5V / 2A
Output: 5V / 1A
OK EDIT 3: So I tried to email them from the address on their website which says [email protected]. But when I look at the mailto it says [email protected] lol. I don't know why it says Clever Gadgets UK when the company is located in California. I don't know how much I trust this retailer.
Well if you have access to ordering from Verizon in the US I would suggest getting the LG WCP-300 instead since with tax and free shipping it came to $42. The Amazon price is currently at $45.49+$4.49 shipping. I love the LG haven't dealt with the metrans one yet though.

It's supposed to be really nice with this auto off feature when the phone reached 40 degrees Celsius. That's one of the selling points for me. Also, it's a little more expensive now. Used to be 38.

I bought the Amazon one from GMYLE even after all the research I did. I'll let you know how that one goes. The only reason I decided to get Amazon over ahappydeal is because at least I can trust Amazon to back me up in the event that they send me a fake.
I'll post in the thread when I get it/test it.
Ok guys, I got my charger from the Amazon listing. It's legit, no mix-ups and knockoffs here. It's the same box and packaging from the eBay listing (Air Box) and also shows a picture of the Nexus 4 on the side of the box. It's got this super cool pulsating white light when the phone is charging (not the green/red that the Amazon photo depicts) which is awesome. Like the Macbook Pro light if you have ever seen them. You can see the light in the second picture as well.
It works as advertised, charges when you place it on it. I'm still experimenting with it but I think it looks a lot cooler than the LG one. I'm still experimenting with the temperature, it's at 41 degrees celsius right now (It's like almost 100 degrees ferinheight where I'm at right now (no AC just ceiling fan) so that may have a little to do with the temperature.
Would also like to note that the Amazon listing has the incorrect amp on the power supply. It's actually 2A (like it's supposed to be). Picture included below.

I'm curious, do you feel comfortable charging the phone overnight even though it gets super hot? Have you noticed anything odd going on with the battery ever since you started charging over night? I don't use the charger that much because it gets way too hot for it to be good for the phone.
It is a bit hot but nothing odd going on...it stops charging once it hits 100...it then cools down a little bit...then when it goes lower again it just pulse charges

You say that you feel the Metrans "is a more premium looking, overall better charger" but you "don't use the charger that much because it gets way too hot for it to be good for the phone"
Are you saying that you think looks are more important than functionality? Or are you referring to a different charger in the second post?
If you live near a Best Buy, you should know that they will price match just about any site that isn't a deal-of-the-day, auction, or clearance website, as long as the item is new (not refurbished). If you didn't, now you do!
This is an extremely generous policy. When I worked at Big Blue, people rarely used it to its full potential, either because they weren't aware that they could price match or because they weren't aware that they could price match to almost any website. Luckily, I do know that they'll price match anywhere, anytime.
Very few stores are selling the fast wireless charging stand for less than $45-50. However, I found one that sells it for $30, located here. It's a real store, not an auction or clearance website, so they should be able to approve it. However, if they don't, sort this list by price and find the cheapest one that isn't eBay.
Here's proof that I managed a $40 discount without having to pay for or wait for shipping:

I apologize if this is a dumb question as I have never used wireless charging, but it is purely for convenience, correct? I assume you cannot use the phone while using wireless charging like you can use it if charging via wire?

Samsung's fast wireless charging is about the same speed as charging via 2A USB, but you can use it while it's charging if you leave it on the cradle. If you pick it up, though, it stops charging.

If you use speaker phone, wireless headphones, or wired headphones yes you can.. but the phone must remain on the charging pad in order to charge.
Prior to USB C it's been nice to not have to fumble around in the dark to figure out which direction to put the plug in.. you just plop the phone down and boom it starts charging. WIth USB C it will be a lot easier to insert the cable.. but now that I have wireless pads at home and work I'll still be using them because it's still easier then having to plug it in. Wired chargers do charge faster, just FYI. The Fast Qi wireless chargers charge about as fast as a conventional wall charger while the standard Qi chargers are pretty slow but just fine for overnight charging.
I'm mainly going to use mine at work. I'm on the phone a lot but also need to walk around, so it'll be nice not having to plug and unplug it every ten minutes. My first ever phone, the EVO 4G, had a wireless charging back that I used, and I miss that functionality a lot.
Thanks for sharing, I was able to pick one up after 20 minutes of waiting for a manager to price match.

On their website, they say they only match like 6 websites (Amazon, TigerDirect, etc.). I hope the manager at my Best Buy is generous like yours, because they didn't have to match the price per their current policy.

They wouldnt do it here in jersry city nj best buy. They said its not one of there direct competitors. Even called bestbuy and they said no.
Well, no luck at my 3 Best Buys. They only price match certain stores, as I mentioned earlier. I did get them to price match Amazon (although they're not supposed to since it's out of stock for two months), for $46 or so. FYI, that website you saw it for $30 at is a scam. Look up reviews and BBC complaints. So I'll take the $46 price rather than order from them...

You think I'm better off keeping this for roughly $50 after tax versus getting a 3rd party one for roughly $30 after tax, like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H...1_2?colid=2QFIZ0KL7GYER&coliid=I2GSRTH90B1QUR
I mean, it has great, reviews. Are there any major differences? I've heard talk of fans, warranty, charging block, etc.
Sent from my SM-N920V using XDA-Developers mobile app
The fact that the Samsung one has an official quality adaptive fast charger and its Samsung quality, its worth the extra $20 on the charger alone. Probably higher quality plastic etc. These devices have batteries that are sensitive to long term temps and cycles. I find that fast charging craps batteries out after a year or so. Being that the N7 is a sealed battery.... Im not taking any chances.
Anyone know if this would be good for overnight charging? In other words, does it stop charging after it hits 100% or is it going to mess up my battery leaving it on for that long? I know some stop charging and some don't. I would HOPE Samsung's own would be awesome and stop...

I'd try again when they're busy. When I went there managers weren't available so a sales rep looked up the site on the computer and was able to verify it. I think it's a combination of good timing and finding a manager that doesn't care enough to give you slack.
