Generic 1800 batteries - Epic 4G Accessories

I'm thining about ordering some generic 1800 batteries for the touch 4g 2 which I'm told will fit the epic. Ebay has 3 and a charger for 11 bucks including shipping. My concern is I have heard one possible reason for random reboots are non oem batteries putting out unsteady current. I have only generic ones right now. Who's had good luck vrs bad with these types of batteries

Wait so you already have some?? Shouldn't your experience tell you all you need to know?? Unless you meant that you only have the generic 1500mAh battery.
I know the Anker 1800mAh is supposed to be pretty good but since I've gone with the 3500mAh fatt batts....NOTHING else compares, not even the OEM 1800mAh

You found a 3500 that fits??
I have some genric 1500's right now at I get random shut downs though I think that is gb related.
I found on ebay 3 1800's and a wall charger for 11 bucks out of hong kong. Free shipping.. sounds worth the experiment

Im guessing that 3500 has an extemded cover

Yeah, I use the one's with the extended back cover, nothing compares to their value or battery life.
I'd be interested in seeing how the generic 1800s do though, I have one 1500 generic and it's never given me random restarts but it was a little weaker than my original OEM. I'd say go for the bundle if your interested, you'll easily get your $11 worth.
I just can't go back to slim batteries anymore myself

How thick does it make it... I bought. The extra large battery for the orginal touch pro.. made it look like a gray twinkie

It makes it thicker but it feels nice when you're using the keyboard IMHO, you get used to it.
the phone is about maybe 3/4" from 1/2" just from using my eye's best guess

I wouldn't recommend the generic they don't last as long even though they say 1800mah. get the OEM Samsung ones for the epic touch $22 shipped. I just got one it's great

I got "OEMs" for my Epic and my wife's Evo that I doubt are really OEM, though they say so. Life seems less than our many-times-cycled original equipment. I got mine RIGHT before I read the 1800mah thread, so I have multiple reasons to be po'd at myself.

I have the 1800 batteries and found I only got around 2 more hours from them. The trade off for 2 extra hours were not worth extra thick phone.

Extra thick? I thought these Epic Touch 1800's fit in the Epic without replacing the back plate.

Not sure about the generic ones but the OEM ones definitely fit. Rocking one now and it is awesome. Finally don't have to charge my phone during the day. Highly recommended.

I just bought these generics and they got here yesterday I'm still working on calibrating them. So far they seem to work great. Ill post back after I have a chance to kill the battery and recharge it a few times. On a side note what's a good app to find what apps are killing my battery just so I can get a good idea of what these battery can do.

Well I will have to say these batterys work very well. I get way more life out of these then I do my stock 1500 mah. Plus I have 3 of them so I am able to keep a extra on me just in case. I would recomend buying them plus they were cheap

beezie42, what is the name of the seller you bought the battery from? I found several vendors on ebay that have that deal. Can you post a link to the item you bought? Thanks!

How about these generic batteries?
Hello XDA, big fan behind the scene so I am coming out.
Found these Epic 4g Touch batteries and want to see what you great experts thought about them before buying them.
Just wanted to know if this will fit my Sprint Epic 4g SPH-D700 phone with stock back side plate.

They are generic 1800mAh that I have also seen on ebay.
Looks like a great deal to get 3X 1800mAh Batteries plus a charger for less than the price of a Samsung OEM 1800mAh battery.
Thanks for your input...=)

I just got 2 of these and a universal battery charger for about $20 w/ Amazon Prime shipping =).
Took pics of my first charge cycle. Let's see if this works...
That's almost 3 hours of screen time, 40 minutes of talking, 10 hours total. They do seem better compared to my OEM Samsung 1500mah. And they're cheap, to boot!

That's cool, but this phone is already huge, in the picture it makes it look like it adds 20% more height and 10% more width. For battery it might be worth it tho, hehe. Anyone know how much it is? ... oh just saw $70 ... ouch, hmm. I bought an original second battery on eBay for $20, and it's doing the trick for those times when I run too low
Agree. A 2nd battery is good enough for me. Don't wanna add more weight / size to the phone

Don't worry bella, it's no bigger or heavier than the GIANT shells/cases/whatever many of us decide to put on our phones anyway.
It weighs 2 oz and ADDS 1450mAh battery capacity.
I'll probably get one to use on trips, etc. Not much of a daily driver for me at that weight. The Infuse weighs just under 5 oz naked.

I guess the reasoning is here that you have the 2nd battery already attached to the phone, and you don't have to carry it around separately somewhere.

*STING* ... lol, guess I deserved that, haha. If I see a big bulge in your pants, I'll remember it's your phone tho, so I'm not confused it might be something else, ehhe *sting back!*...
At 1450 mah it's not spectacular, but great for a road trip or flights to Asia... I'd just as soon carry extra batteries at $25 each, since I can get 1750 mah x 3 for the same price you paid for 1450, but I definitely understand the all-in-one concept, makes sense.
I wonder how long it will be before the line gets blurred between a 7" tablet and a 4.5" phone... I like the Dell streak aside from the fact it's dell, so maybe soon...

I do tend to think of my Infuse as a mini-tablet that is more or less pocketable. In fact, I haven't touched my iPad since I got it.
My fiancee did suggest I leave my phone in the car when we went to my daughter's kindergarten graduation today. It does create quite a bulge. I'm sure she didn't want me garnering any extra attention from the soccer moms. She tends to be the jealous type.

Yeh, I think guys and girls carry messenger bags or purses or some sort of backpack many places, so a few years ago I'd have called you crazy for suggesting a 4.5" phone, but now that I have one, I kinda want an updated 7" Galaxy Tab w\ voice\data capability. I almost pulled the trigger and bought the International Version of the Galaxy Tab 7" (it's unlocked, has voice and SMS enabled)... but given the slow processor I opted to wait until a more viable option comes out soon. I never hold a phone up to my head, and 90% of my use is text\data.... so I think it's my next natural step in evolution.
And LOL on the comment about the soccer moms w\ phone in pocket, hahaha

I don't think it will make that much of a difference. It's the same as plugging it into the charger. Besides, the stock battery is replaceable and cheap.
Now if I were using the offGRID case on the iPhone, I might wonder about the long term effect on that internal, hard(er) to replace and (more) expensive battery.

So ive been browsing the forums looking for a new battery. From what i see alot of people are using the galaxy nexus extended battery and the powerskin. My (noob) question is which is the best battery on the market as of today?
Also will the nexus 3800mAh work as well in the skyrocket like the 2100mAh did.

The 2100 maH Galaxy Nexus battery. It's posted all over the forum. About $19-21 at Amazon when it's in stock and they don't try to sneak you an 1850 maH battery like they did me, then tell me the 2100 was out of stock.
May or may not require modification for perfect fit. Fits fine for some, others (like me) had to shave a bit of stuff off the battery to get it to fit perfect.
K thanks, I'll make sure its in stock before they send me stock maH

No modifications are necessary, the battery comes with a new cover.
You do have to charge the phone completely (i let mine charge overnight), then wipe the battery status, then charge it again for at least an hour.
I use a Mugen standard size one. Maybe it's just the way I use it, but it seems to give me a few extra hours a day consistently. I almost never get an extended battery because no one ever seems to make decent protective cases for the phone with it mounted.
I can't say they're the best, or even that great, but I just bought 2 batteries and a charger for $10 on ebay. That way if my phone decides to die, I've got spares.
Just ordered the 2 Anker 2200mAh Li-ion Battery with charger set, should have em tomorrow. Right now I'm getting a full day with moderate usage. Battery seems pretty popular so should do well.
I get about a work day with moderate usage. Text, browsing, tapatalk and about 15 mins of tethering. Mostly text.
About 8-10 hours.
A bigger battery would be convenient but ugly imo.

Wile that is awesome you have a battery that works for you, everyone uses there phone different, for instance i noticed that your screen didn't appear to be on for as long as mine, and you seem to have much better signal in your area than i do in mine. Wile the 2100 may work well for you, with the location and the way i use my phones, i have to have the bigger battery. It's great to see what the 2100 is capable of.
I'll end up getting one of those for my Fiancee, as she needs to be able to use an otterbox case.

Check out my battery reviews in my sig to get an idea, I believe that the fat 3500 batteries have value that CANNOT be beat! (as long as added girth isn't minded)
A solid slim battery would be the OEM 1800mAh battery from the Epic Touch (just MAKE SURE it's true OEM and not a knock off that just looks like it... there are certain tells such as listed model numbers and other markings)
I find my OEM Samsung 1800mah to be substantial. Lasts the day and that's all I need I suppose. I can't stand fat batteries.

Yeah the 1800mAh batt is my favorite slim batt for sure just wish they were as cheap as the fat batts so you can choose between thin or capacity. I don't believe they deserve to be more than $1 in difference for the price/ performance to be on par with da fatties

I bought what appear to be OEM samsung 1800 mAh batteries from Amazon and they weren't stellar performers. i think it might be possible that these are seconds or b-stock or something. I had the stock 1400 that came with my phone in rotation and I just didn't see a big difference with the 1800.
However, I just bought Anker 1800s and those things have impressed me. 2 batteries and an outboard charger for $20 is a helluva deal, too. I am gun shy about buying the ones that are marked "samsung" now due to the negative experience I had. Your mileage may vary.

You may have bought a counterfeit in OEM's clothing. Can you get some pictures up of your "OEM" samsung 1800 batts??
I hear good things about Anker batteries but haven't had the pleasure of using them nor testing them. Would you want me to analyze yours?
I just bought this battery a week ago and feel as though it may be a knock off. It only gets about 8 hours of life before dying. How can you tell if it's a fake?
I guess I could have resized...oops sorry!

Hmm...that does appear to be genuine...
Maybe they sent you some used ones or possible "new" ones that have sit unused in the warehouse for too long. Would you like me to analyze them for ya?? (or any other batteries)
As you saw my dad hadn't had his for longer than 6 months and his 1800 battery dropped from 1800mAh to about 1500mAh average.
Have you fully discharged and charged them a couple times. They might need that.

I was expecting to see a MFG date on it like my two (3 year old) factory batteries I have. After a few days of using the 1800 I went back to them since they at least make it through the day. They've had a few charge cycles or more.
The first day or so was rough since the phone was reporting 15-20% power and then would just power off. I'd turn it back on and it'd say 5% or something. Admittedly when I put this new battery in I deleted the battery stats file so I attributed this initial behavior to that.
I was planning to return the battery if it's worth my time/money since I got it fairly cheap on ebay (doh!). I should have read these threads before shopping there for bargains.
How would you go about analyzing batteries? Need to send them to you?

Galaxy S4 Spare Batteries

I'm interested to get your opinions on what spare batteries to get for your S4. I've been eyeballing these Anker batteries (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CBTZ2AG/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1369320958&sr=8-2&pi=SL75) but cheaper is always better (for quality batteries). What deals have you found?
Before this turns into a flame fest for battery saving mods, let me tell you that I can drain any phone's battery and I don't mind carrying a spare. I have 3 spares for my Note 2. I rarely cut on wifi and GPS is always enabled. I'd much rather fully drain a battery and pop in a fresh one than plug in my phone for any amount of time. So please keep the discussion about batteries and not how to limit yourself and save battery.

I'm right there with you on the level of phone abuse. I'm coming from the S3 and I carried 4 extra batteries and have killed 4 in a day. I don't have any real stats yet because its day 1 on this phone, but I bought 2 of the onite batteries from Amazon, with the charger. I don't have any issues with fit.etc and so far.today they are holding up as good as my S3 batteries would. I'll update in a day or two with the battery life

I think I'll just pick up an OEM spare battery off Expansys or Negri.

dang. props to you. i couldnt carry around and about a phone that thick in my pocket. hahaha...even given the crazy good battery life. i'd always rather pick up 2 or 3 stock batteries instead of a extended.
props.

I carry 2 phones on me. work gives me an iphone 5 and this S4. i carry an anker portable battery charger in my laptop bag everywhere i go. i prefer to be lighter in the pockets.
For my N2, I keep a battery at work, one in the laptop bag, and one at home. And I have external chargers at work and at home. I always have juice!

I didn't show the expanded views but thats with almost 3 hours of screen time and 150 text along with 85 minutes of talk time. Its day one so I dont have any comparison to the Samsung battery, but I'm very satisfied with the battery life so far.

You do know that those are NOT OEM batteries, but knock off's.
I buy the Samsung cradle that comes with the spare oem battery, and my friends at sprint and vzw always throw me free extras, I already have 2 spares

I bought two Anker batteries with an external charger for $26. They work great and I have nothing but good to say about the purchase. Highly recommended!

I read a review comparing the stock, a ching ching oem knock off, and an anker. The knock off was garbage, stock was... well, stock, and anker was barely better than stock. I'll try to find it. It wasn't an in depth test by any means though.

Nope s3 battery is 2100 mAH and s4 is 2600...

Also I had GREAT experience with anker battery on the note 2. Did better than the stock battery.
I keep hearing that the third party batteries are thicker than the OEMs and cause bulges on the back cover.. What's the verdict on the ones posted above?

AceSoft 3380mAh Extended Slim Battery

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AceSoft-338..._Cell_Phone_PDA_Batteries&hash=item3382917ec1
Has anyone ordered/received this one yet? I find it hard to believe it will be better than the ZeroLemon 3000 mAh (they are known to make efficient batteries, and they had to compromise on thickness and lack of NFC), but if anyone buys one of these a report would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: These are fake, don't buy them!
Oh hell no.
Chinese battery makers are NOTORIOUS for exaggerating MaH claims. Especially eBay batteries.
Never buy any batteries unless you have seen LOT's of trustworthy looking reviews.
Some mfg's will give themselves positive reviews.

You are right - I made this thread only because the seller isn't chinese, but American, so I thought it might be partially legit.

Some American sellers of inexpensive items actually buy in bulk at a discount from Chinese companies and flip the items for a profit in the USA.
I've actually considered doing the same thing.
I do appreciate you sharing though!
Cuz you never know!?!

Yep, just a reseller peddling no name low quality batteries.

That makes sense. Sadly he's making loads of money off of unsuspecting people. And it's not even cheap, he's taking full advantage of it.
say hello to one of the dummies...
I just randomly found it and was like hheeellll yeeaaahhh!!! Received it yesterday after paying $36 and after 3 hours and 45 minutes of use I'm at 75% ....I don't see a single bit of difference...
Google "Chinese wholesale phone batteries"
It's easy to buy smartphone batteries at $1-$3 per battery. Resell for $10 on eBay and Amazon.
No wonder eBay on Amazon is littered with battery resellers.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I get about 3 hr on stock battery and end up at 50% or so. So this battery deffinatly adds some time
Dang. I was just gonna make a thread about this. Any ways, I've had similar results to above post. Lasted 21 hours before fully dying. I am however constantly connected to wifi both at home and work so 4G is rarely used. Very pleased with my purchase.

I mostly love the fact that I can used the same back plate and cases I already have and am able to get enough juice for a full days use.
EDIT: And the NFC works like a freaking beast just like OEM. The Anker and Hyperion batteries I've bought that were supposedly "NFC" worked 2 times out of 10 and did NOT work through any of my cases. This one works 10/10 scanning my various tags just like the OEM battery does and works through most of my cases. (Not the metal ones of course.)
So would you highly recommend this battery? I've been looking for an extended battery since upgrading from my s3.

Yep. That's the one. I did get mine at Amazon though, a little bit more but that's for the extra charger though which for me only makes sense for spare battery.
