I've had my Infinity for about a week now and on at least 3 occasions I've had the tablet screen go blank and reboot it self after 10 seconds or so. When this happens the screen usually turns all white or all black and is unresponsive. This has happened on firmware 22 and 26. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have experienced this twice. It happened to me last night in fact. I hit the back button to go back in the XDA app and it went all white. I had to hold the power button for a few seconds before it would reset though.

Do you have an NTFS-formatted micro SDHC in it by any chance?
I've had this happen many times mainly while switching apps... Usually between games to normal apps like email... I have mine completely stock without any sd card...

Happend with my tab too. But only with games so I supposed they are not perfectly adapted to the Chip and thus crashing it or the other way round.
This has happened without any sd card present. Tab is completely stock, not rooted and it is always between apps.

possibly the task manager
Did a little searching and found someone having a similar problem here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523487. I've been having the screen go out sometimes and it reboots, other times nothing on my bootloader shows up and it's just my background wallpaper.
Someone suggested that it was due to the the task manager widget. I can confirm that I've been running this widget. If this is a common factor among all of us then maybe we have our culprit.
Edit: I don't have a microsd inserted.
This has also happened to me a few times and I'm also using the Asus task manager widget. I'll try removing it now to see if that works.

Same problem here
Usually happens when I'm mass transfering files and doing something else
Will try to remove widget
Edit:
Removed widget and used heavily for a few hours
no black screen/reboot
This happens to me too while playing scramble with friends.

I do not use that widget and I have still gotten the restarts.

I sent mine back because of this exact problem... happened four times going to black (only settings icon and text showed) and once to white on .22 and .26 update. New tab arrives today... Hopefully all is good this time.

I get it about every other day of heavy use. I am using the Asus task manager widget.
Last time it happened I had been actively checking my screen on time to contribute to a battery thread and noticed my timer lost about 20 minutes of time after the reboot, FWIW.
Does anybody else that is running the official JB have this issue? Set an alarm. Choose any ringtone. Wait for it to go off.
For me, when it does, it plays the first note or two of the alarm, then stops. That's it.
Rather annoying and utterly useless as an alarm.

got it here too. first day of my new job too...
Just to follow this up.
The alarm works fine if the screen is on. However it doesn't work if the screen is off, which unfortunately is pretty much the only time I'd need it.
Reboots don't change this behavior. Adjusting various display and power settings don't change this behavior. Using the exact same settings on my Galaxy Nexus running JB works fine.
So it appears to be a legitimate bug.
What I haven't tried is a full wipe and reinstall using the JB image from the ASUS website.
A workaround that seems to work perfectly is using Alarm Clock Xtreme downloaded from Google Play.

Hey there,
Just curious if anyone else sees this problem? And if there's a known reason or fix? Pretty much like the topic name says.... sometimes tapping the clock just does nothing, no matter how deliberately I tap or hold it. I know it isn't hardware because when I rotate into the other other orientation, that portion of the screen that was just the clock now responds fine to touch. A reboot will fix. Thoughts?
EDIT: Should have mentioned - bone stock, unrooted, locked etc. Havent gotten up to any tinkering with this thing, too many bad hardware reports to invalidate warranty lol. Though my hardware seems good so far...
Thanks...

I prefer the ASUS quick setting to stock Android notification, but I don't think I have any problem with them. Have you try cold booting your tablet? Shut down and press power+volume down?
I know you said it's not hardware, yet that sounds like a digitizer problem.
I get this from time to time - I even got it once last night, after flashing CleanRom 2.3... which was a little disappointing.
I've found that if I get a notification of some kind - say, an email being received - it clears this bug and I can then tap on the clock to bring up the quick settings menu and it will work fine from then on. It's only after a reboot that the bug reappears, but then not every time.

Yes. I get the issue since I believe JB update. One work around that worked for me is open setting from setting icon, which I have on one of home menu. Some how after that it works again. So I agree it is definitely not related to hardware.
Hi,
Yes, this happens randomly with my tablet too. Likewise, only since JB.
As noted above a notification does seem to make the issue go away. I have tried all sorts to find the cause but always come up blank. Rebooting also removes the problem.

I had this issue with JB. It was annoying as hell. Went back to ICS because of this and the "black flickering lines" problem. I already posted about this, but maybe it was on TF and not here... It's a bug in JB...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk HD
I suffer from this as well.
Yeah, notifications seem to fix it. Glad I'm not the only one... I guess. Really is annoying as hell to not have quick access to brightness settings and stuff. Funny, I didn't know the cold boot required the volume button trick, I thought just a normal shut down / restart did that. Thanks for the tip, I'll do it regularly lol.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Sorry all, but I don't have this issue on my rooted, locked .18 JB. It works very well indeed.
I also have this problem. The only way I can fixitisjust a shutdownand restart. Can be annoying.
Same here... Started after the JB update... One quick fix for me is to plug in my ear-buds and the QSP pops up.. If you don't want to carry around your ear-buds, if you have a pair that you don't use anymore or a damaged pair, you can cut the tip off and carry it around in your case/cover..
Right, could anyone tell me the problem here? My touchscreen has become crap recently. It's really frustrating now, so much so that i find myself punching the screen! (not too hard though, lol).Usually i'm docked, but even then i use the touchscreen and sometimes it doesn't respond to any input. At other times, it recognises some random input not by me. Like whilst i'm in the browser, i can scroll down properly at times because it starts zooming in or something. It didn't happen a lot initially. but i'm noticing it a lot recently. I asked ASUS and they just told me to factory reset but backup my data. When i asked how, they sent me the entire manual. Could it be a hardware problem? If so, would it be better to get it replaced from where it was bought or to just send it to ASUS?
THANKS for any responses.

I have the same problem. I haven't found any fix yet, the only work around I've found is to turn off the screen. After I turn it on again the problem is gone. I'll try and use a touchscreen tester app when the screen goes crazy again. The random touches seems to be concentrated on the upper right corner of the screen. I doubt that it's hardware problem though.
Yeah, that worked for me sometimes but other times it didn't. Trying a factory reset now.

A factory reset seems to have fixed it for me. Tablet also seems smoother. Chrome is still a bit crap though. I backed up my apps using ASUS app backup.
EDIT: rebooted my tablet afterwards whilst docked and somehow my old wallpaper came back. However, the tablets gone back to performing wose now...

I has similar issues with my first TF300. I exchanged it for a new one and had no problems. I would probably just exchange the one you've got. My second TF300 had sound issues, and I held on to it past the exchange period and had to send it in to ASUS for repair. They had it for over a month. Should have just exchanged that one also.

Above question and it seems that the touchscreen problem is back. Really don't understand. It can't be a hardware issue if it goes after a factory reset surely?

Hello everyone, I have tf300 with 4.2.1 rooted and busybox installed
It had been amazing but just today, I got a random reboot when I was watching videos with YouTube app.
This isn't a thread where someone goes "baaaaaaaaaaaa somethings wrong!!! Someone help" but I just want to know whether or not it's a problem with my tablet (maybe a bad flash or something) or it is an actual firmware problem.
Thanks!

Yours seems to be worse than mine. I've been running my tablet on 4.2.1 for quite a time now but this is the first time... Maybe it is the bad flash. Used to happen on ICS on my first TF300 (Exchanged it). I guess I'll wait another day or so and see if the problem persists or it's one time thing.

Yea seems to be get it quite often not sure why. Was on all stock when updated got it ota then unlocked the bootloader so not sure why was thinking of sending it back to newegg for and exchange but they're slow as all hell put in for an rma earlier this week like monday they're supposed to send me the shipping label haven't gotten it yet. Was printed already its only good for 7 days by the time it gets here will be no good. Figures. Would rather find a way to fix it maybe ill try a reflash like you mentioned.
Also didn't mention bought it as refurb which may have been the original issue prior to them reselling it. Who knows.

Your not the only one gonna try to reinstall the update when its a good time to go through the whole process of setting it back up. Was gonna root it any way so no point to get an exchange if can be fixed. If send it to asus theres a chance they can repair it and lose unlock bootloader and not be able to regain it happened to a couple people on here. When i try it will repost if anything changes.

I got a random reboot today whilst going through the painful experience of browsing with this tablet. It took about 5 minutes or more to start up again and when it did, the system UI kept crashing which made the tablet hard to use as the message kept popping up. Thereafter, when i tried to reboot using the power settings, it froze. Very frustrating. I was able to sort it by holding the power button to turn it off and then turning it back on. It seems to work fine for now but it's something that shouldn't be happening. I'm stock and unrooted

This was driving me crazy until i realized that every time it rebooted automatic updates were running. Not sure how this happened, maybe corruption caused by play updates running when android updated. Uninstalling the 4 perpetually updating apps and reinstalling seems to have corrected the problem (or it's a lucky coincidence).
I was also having wireless dropouts, not sure how that would be related to updates but seems to have stopped now, possibly the updating process was spinning or using some other resource. I definitely recommend disabling auto updates and seeing if that helps.
