Welp, since i haven't posted more than 10 times I cannot post in the forum where this needs to be seen, but here it goes anyways. I'm running the most current build of Synergy ROM and noticed when I am in Google Earth, I seem to get ridiculous lag issues. I've been running Synergy since it became available on the VGS3 and haven't noticed any issues with it in the past. Does anyone else have lag issues in Google Earth while running Synergy?
I think it's just the app.... It's loading quite a bit of data. When after a location has rendered and you touch it, it has to re render things making it laggy again. Was is smooth before and you just updated and it's laggy now? I guess I've never seen it run 100% smooth ever.

Well I don't use the app often. But I feel like it ran a little smoother with the stock rom. I had actually just changed my clock frequency with No Frills CPU and had yet to reboot or anything. Seemed to run a little bit faster after the reboot.

My g tab is an amazing device as all you can attest to. However ive been running cm7 and now cm7.1 RC for a month now. I get random freezes constantly. Itll boot up and then once i get to using the tavle whether scrolling through a video or the app drawer itll freeze up.And can't do anything unless I do a hard reset ive searched endlessly for answers but got nothing ...please help..
All I can tell you is this. Cm7 has an extremely high volume of reports of problems. I'm amazed its still so popular.
I'm running CM7.0.3 stable for Netflix sake. Time to time I got freezes in Dolphin HD 5.6.
Sometimes I just wait and Dolphin would FC or tablet would go into reboot when I tried to put it in hibernation.
Well, as far as I know and my research on this and another problems - it's a nature of Android OS (not mature OS and buggy software for it).
Though I never got freezes from Netflix.
PS: might be overclock CPU to 1.4GHz is too much for your tablet. Try lower it to standard 1Ghz.

nope. I'm running calk clem and have not had a single freeze. Calk and clem really struck gold with this one.
I run 7.0.3 and it has been the most stable Gingerbread ROM I have tried. No problems at all and much better battery life - Love it!

So I'm not sure what part of CM7 is not working for me, but I'm definately not happy. Three main reasons are:
ADW Force closing
Choppy scrolling
Poor signal/3g 4g toggling
I'm running MR2 and the kernal that came with the ROM in ROM Manager. I tried ADW EX and it does the same thing.
Is there anything I can do to improve this? I'm looking for a daily driver that is smooth, quick, and no force closing! I like Sense, but not the bloat. I would sacrifice performance for battery life.
I've seen some vids on UberBamf and it looks great! But I've also seen some good vids on CM7, it just does not work well on my phone. What are some suggestions?
I've been running Cyanogen 7.0.3 on my Desire for like 2 months. A few days ago I tried the v6 supercharger script, and the second day, I noticed my phone started to be real slow : switching UI auto-rotate on from the pulldown notification bar would take like... TEN SECONDS (used to take one, not 10, lol). And others... such as TERRIBLY SLOW DOWNLOAD from Market.
I restored the NANDROID backup I did like 3 weeks ago (before I even used v6 supercharger -- which I find useless, by the way...) and that didn't solve anything !
I flashed MIUI, and it wasn't lagging anymore. Now I am using LeeDrOiD, and again, no lag. So it's not my phone's hardware... but something wrong with Cyanogen !
Cyanogen has announced that they'll be launching CM 7.1 soon, and they say it'll be pretty rocking, so... we just have to wait.
I've tried a few different ICS ROMS now and if they don't have battery life issues, they have home screen transition lag, app drawer lag, random reboots, screen flickering (like when it shuts off), app compatibility issues, etc... (some have all of those things, others just have one or two, you know what I mean) yet I always see a lot of posts in here about people praising X or Y ROM and somehow don't seem to have the same issues I have.
At first I wanted to call it an ID-10-T error on my part, but I'm doing full wipes and even using the wipe_all script on top of that, and this is my 5th or 6th Android phone, so it isn't like I lack experience flashing.
I've been using a stock, rooted 2.3.7 ROM + ADW EX and I'm in stability heaven. It's buttery smooth, no crashes, etc. I'm the kinda guy that'll go back to stock from a custom ROM the first time it gets laggy or randomly reboots. Stability and smoothness is everything to me. I really want to like ICS... but I don't have any good reason to force it upon myself right now if I can't find a stable ROM/kernel combination.
Anyhoo... what's the smoothest, most stable, ICS ROM for the Nexus S 4G? I expect to hear different opinions, but surely there would be some kind of consensus, right?
I'm looking for the same, and experiencing identical issues to you. I don't think it's an idiot error because as a result, but it seems to me that ICS roms have a long way to go in order to satisfy users like you and I.
The screen flicker appears to be a function of voodoo settings. I've tried a few kernels with no obvious differences, though I haven't messed w/ Voodoo as of yet. The lag seems to have been mitigated in entirety by using Launcher Pro instead of the ICS launcher, and general lag during homescreen and app drawer transition follows in the same path. OS lag, on the other hand, is much more obvious than in GB IMO.
It seems that the most stable/popular rom is oICSv43 paired with Eugene's kernel (ICUP). I'm using that kernel with CM9 (alpha19) by burnsra. Can't say I'm thrilled with it but I'll definitely be happy once this damn batch restore finishes without causing boot loops

Battery is great, the system is smooth. Very Very Stable. Everything works.Nothing is broken. Truly a pleasure to use.
The built in kernel is great but I used a newer version called ICUP 3.1.6
So I've been having this reoccurring problem with a couple of 4.2.1 ROMs recently. Certain games cause my phone to lag like I'm playing a game at 5 FPS. The only game I can think of right now that causes this is "Fun Run," but I've opened other games and the same issue has occurred.
Everything is lagged until I keep the screen off for a little bit, or reset the phone in some cases. This involves the UI, any other apps, games, etc.
I did not have this issue prior to flashing 4.2.1. Every 4.1 build that I tested was fine, but out of the two 4.2.1 ROMs I've tried, (SlimBean 4.2.1 RC1, and CyanogenMod 10.1), I get the same problem.
Any idea what the problem is and how I can go about fixing this?

I experienced the same lag, but I just went back to more stable roms. You can try the entrophy seeder app from the xda portal, it apparently reduces lag but I haven't experienced anything major.

Yeah, I know 4.1 doesn't have this issue. I like 4.2.1 better but I guess I'll have to wait it out a little bit more before getting that stability.
Anyways, thanks, I'll give the app a try.
For those of us that have dealt with lag on JB 4.1.2 and are using Touchwiz I've created this thread to spitball, trouble shoot or even complain about it.
From what I understand it's Android 4.1.2 related. I've been reading that it's an issue with TW and 4.1.2 itself. Some have suggested that using a custom launcher will help get rid of the lag. I've seen this be true on Nova. I have been able to get no lag on TW only by not having any widgets on the home screen. This leads me to believe that part of the lag is a result of having to render the widgets and load the information there within.
Others complain of lag during gaming (Temple Run 2 is a big one). I've looked through the forums, and searched multiple threads and it appears that other S3 variants and even tablets like the Tab 2 is having issues with 4.1.2. My G Note 10.1 had it as well.
So in the hopes of figuring out what the culprit actually is or even to vent frustration at such things here we are.
If there is a thread already like this MODs please let me know and/or close it. :good:
I don't use any widgets and I get crazy lag while playing ingress. I've only ran touchwiz and its lagged on all. Sucks but not that big of a deal.

I also get lag and/or lockups on occasions. On stock rooted 4.1.2. So is not just CleanROM. I may go back to 4.1.1. I can't seem to find enough benefit to stay on the current stuff. I've tried different kernels, etc. No dice. The only game I play is candy crush, and it's HORRIBLE. Everything moves in slow motion. LOL. It sticks how the mods handled this, I feel it is relevant. It's an issue, well known. There are MANY complaints about it.
I've had the same issues with Candy Crush. No lag on 4.1.1, and tons of lag in 4.1.2. Like you said, it almost looks like the app is in slow motion. I have yet to find a solution to this.
Man you guys are right on the money. I've reverted back to 4.1.1 because of all the lag. I'm currently on GalaxyMod Rls 13, which to me has the least amount of lag. Homescreens don't redraw, menus are smooth (for the most part anyway, you scroll back to the top of the settings menu and it tends to jump on occasions, no matter what ROM I'm using). I hope 5.0 addresses these issues. I remember how excited I was when 4.1 first dropped... Arguably the best build Android has ever made.

Some say they don't get lag. Just a theory here, but I went the OTA route, then rooted and unlocked. Got lag, even flashing back to 4.1.1. Thing is, I still had the current OTA partitions. So, I Odined back to K3. TADA! No more lag. Makes me think that possibly those that took the OTA are getting the lag because of the partitions that are updated. Those NOT experiencing lag are ones still on K3 partitions, but have flashed up to MB1 ROMs. Maybe? Just a theory.

Which K3 tar did you use? I'd like to try this myself on my wife's phone. Thanks.
NVM I got it.

I have two s3 phones in the family. One of them is on cleanrom and one is on stock unrooted. Both of them suffer from lag. We do not play games on our phones. The last that we notice is when doing things like texting. The keyboard is really slow to come up. And when the auto correct list comes up, it is very slow. Scrolling also seems to bog it down. I am not sure what is going on, but it is a definite step backward from 4.1.1. I how that there is a solution that does not involve going back to 4.1.1.

I wonder if the GS3 suffers from graphic redraws? Maybe it's not caching the images perpetually, only drawing them when needed. I've noticed this when it loads widgets, scrolling through menus, and when you have a lot of notifications(the drop down shade hesitates when it's opening and closing). I don't think it's hardware, as there are a few HTC phones with the same adreno GPU and they don't lag. My previous phone, the EVO 4G LTE, didn't lag at all, and they share the same adreno graphics hardware. Hero's Axis Rom addresses most of these issues, as my experience with his roms have been positive. It's not completely gone, but it's better than stock. I'd recommend using his rom if you have these issues.
fix, maybe?
Hey, all. So I had gotten the i757m, same problem as here. Got a new one from Bell, and it was slow as hell too.. Here's what I did.
I disabled everything I could, all the bloatware.
100% HD Games
Asphalt 6
Google Play Books
Google Play Movies
Google Play Music
GPS Navigator(Let's be real here, it sucks anyways.. use google maps)
Let's Golf 3
Mobile TV
Sympatico.ca
Yahoo! Finance
Yahoo! News
This helps(after a 4.1.2 upgrade via kies)
Next step: Developer options
Turned off animations(Transition Animation Scale)
under apps > Do not keep activities check box. Destroys processes after the user leaves them. Not so awesome for multitasking, but hey, whatever works, right? 262 MB used 1.7GB free . Seems like a win to me.
Do you guys overclock? This is just a theory, but overclocking or undervolting overclocking or flashing too many times seems to slow down phones. Have any of you guys tried to go back to stock and then factory reset and started over? I think that might help. Also, I do see lag, however I only see minimal lag, maybe its because I rarely have anything on my phone? I am also on stock kernel and that seems to work the best for me right now, I used to run custom kernels, but some of them keep causing issues and weren't stable enough or gave me worse battery life. I will try the new leankernel as I like leankernel from the galaxy nexus and have previously tried lean before and had a good experience. Hopefully this at least partially answers the OP's question
Well there have been 3 Touchwiz kernels that worked for me and that's leankernel, kt747 and Zeus. I only overclock to 1.8 ghz or 1.6 ghz those speeds give me the least problems.
I just ran temple run 2 just fine. Here is my setup. MOAR ver.18 latest firmware mf1, KT747 kernal.

I get at least 22hrs of charge with 39% left. I can't let drain down fully because i need it to be fully charged every night before bedtime. I basically charge it fully before bed and i'm left with 39 to 20% by 9pm the next day. I'm on wifi at home and 4glte at work.

last night i had a 3% battery drain within 5hrs. I think that's pretty awesome. While i'm asleep.
I'm with Verizon running BoneStock 3.2 and no lag at all. Fastest ROM I've used so far. With stock kernel
