(Work Around) Echo in CM 10 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

To stop the bad echo in the CM 10 nighties follow these steps.
1. Under call setting enable noise suppression.
2. Under call settings disable call privacy.
Enjoy!

For me, people have only complained about the echo when I put them on speaker.
Will this fix that as well?
It seems there are many here who have echo w/o having to put the phone on speaker.

Just tested on 8/26 and did not have an echo normally or on speaker phone after I done this.

my bad, made a mistake. carry on goofing around.

Did not work. I don't use speaker phone. Echo still present in 8/26 official nightly.

I have been flashing like Will Farrell in Old School!! So I decided to go back to stock, re-rooted, wiped, reflashed and the echo on regular calls is gone. After i did the work around it seems to have made that go away as well. I will try more speaker calls tomorrow and report back.
This build is just running smooth as a babies butt for me!!!

Yea I am really liking the 8/26 build.

This didnt help mine running the 8-26 build with a factory reset.
Caller still hears echo of themselves.
Also in-call volume stays at 1 level no matter how i adjust it. Using volume buttons or on-screen slider.
Tried running it all the way max to all the way min a few times with no change.

Yea I have no clue.. just like NFC some people have it others don't. It don't make since to me how much it changes from device to device but hey that's an alpha build for ya.

The that worked before i flashed to either Valhalla or Octane was Black Ice Voodoo from Krylon360
here is all i could find
http://androidforums.com/incredible...people-cant-hear-me-without-speakerphone.html
so what this states is that some have success with factory reset, and/or clearing the caches several times. or it could be an app, try simply simple rom.
could be an app, some say problem with head phone jack and suggest to clean "There was an issue with the headphone jack. Take a set of headphones (ear buds) and dip the plug into some alcohol. Slide the plug in and out of the jack several times. Wipe the plug and repeat."
'This happens to me when i unplug the headphones without exiting music player remix first. To fix, I restart the musicplayer, plug them in, exit the program, unplug.
The thread "stuck in headset mode" talks about the other variations of the problem."
or an app, like voice recorder is set on it to automatically turn on speaker phone.
so if still having problems after all this then its a hw problem, so fix go to t-mobile or put speaker phone on all the time by using voice recorder app. you have to look into how to do that. i hope i help some what.

Ok, I don't know if you have a voodoo kernel but I fixed mine by unchecking hi-fi recording in the voodoo control app. I guess it's a bug with voodoo on some kernels.

[Q] Question for fellow Rogers users

Hey guys, I am on the west (Vancouver) and I have had this very annoying issue and I want to know if anyone else has experienced it.
Once and a while, maybe ever hour or so into a call I am told my voice goes in and out briefly, I am still barely heard but it makes a few words extremely distant sounding. I have run stock and a few roms and reflash's of the rogers modem but to no avail. It might be a normal network thing but this never happened on my previous captivate.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance!
It's the noise reduction on the phone that's doing that to you, happens to everyone once in a while. Turn it off in the settings if need be. Otherwise raise your voice momentarily and then talk again normally and it won't happen any more.
Wow this has been asked so many times that I didn't even have to type it, swiftkey typed it for me. Just had to keep pressing space lol

[Q] Low in-call (handset) volume on Nexus S after OTA update to 4.0.4

Updated my Nexus S from Gingerbread to ICS 4.0.4 (OTA), but ever since then, the incall handset volume has been extremely low - so low that I can't even hear the person on the other end if I'm outside of any 'quiet' (library quiet) room. Has anyone else experienced this as well?
Any ideas on how I can fix this? I've read that the app "Volume +" might be a solution, but I would need to root the device and its also not a guarantee. Would love to hear from someone who has had this problem and how they rectified it...
Couple of details:
- Carrier: Rogers (in Canada)
- OS: ICS 4.0.4
- NOT Rooted
- Samsung Nexus S
Thanks a lot!

Volume+ won't fix your in call volume, believe me. So don't go that route, you'll only waste your time. The Nexus S has always had a very low volume, but I didn't notice a change from 2.3.7 to 4.0.4 to be frank.

Thanks for the heads up. If you didn't notice a change, then I'm wondering why I did. Do you think its worth it to re-install 4.0.4?
Do you know of any workaround to have this resolved if I did root it?

I find it strange myself. If you look around you'll see the internet is littered with "complaints" regarding the Nexus S low volume, dating back to the Gingerbread day too. I'm not sure a re-install of 4.0.4 will help you.
I have never really found a workaround to increase the in call volume, so if anyone knows I'd be interested too. Rooted or not, I don't mind.

It's a known "issue" though, the Nexus S always had a very low in call volume compared to many other phones. It's not absolutely inaubdible, but it's definitely not your Nokia brick either. In a crowded place it gets difficult to hear, even with your ear pressed firmly against it. The speaker however does decently, but then everyone can hear your conversation.

Odds are it won't ever be fixed as the noise cancelation code is closed source 3rd party code that Samsung licenses.
Playing with the mic gain settings can act as a workaround.

I'd say that's a little overzealous to state that most people have it and don't know it. Most people just plain don't have it, and they know they don't have it. Its different on a phone by phone basis, but most people do not have it, as the other people have indicated in here.
I did have it on cm10 until about a month ago, then never again since then. And yes, people are very aware that only the other line can hear it, I've talked to my wife and brothers and asked them many many times if they can hear an echo when talking to me and everyone reports that everything is fine. Even echo on speakerphone works flawless. I'm sorry for your guys' frustrations.
I have this issue too, even when not on speakerphone. When I turn the volume down it seems to fix it so it seems to me its feedback. Any ideas?

[FIX][ZIP] OK Google/Low microphone problem

I have been using my One Plus for a few days and I noticed I couldn't use "Okay Google" unless the phone was within a few inches from my mouth. I tested this in my garage screaming at my phone till I felt like a idiot, cause my wife came in and asked "Why are you screaming at Google?" . So I started looking through CM's source and found a a commit that referenced the problem.
I searched on XDA to see if others were affected by this problem and came across this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fixed-microphone-ok-google-low-t2805568 . So I made a flashable zip after testing it. Now, I'm not screaming at my phone anymore.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Rooted
2) Recovery installed (I use TWRP)
3) Common sense
HOW TO:
1) Boot into recovery
2) Install
3) Profit
This has worked for several others with low microphone sensitively, without any problems. This is not to say nothing will happen to your device, each device differs from one another, depending on different circumstances.
**Myself or XDA are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device.

I also have problem with low microphone. Does it apply to OPO 64gb EU?
There seems to be another merge regarding this issue.
First I though they just moved the previously fixed one, but this mixer_paths.xml is bigger than the one from the previous fix.
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/69311/
Compared the new one with the one in my Gummy Team rom, to push the latest to /system/etc, but seems they already have the new one.
Btw compared the One to my Nexus 5 and they're either the same, or the One reacted a little better to the "Okay Google" command.
What exactly does this zip do to the phone that improves voice recognition?
