Hey guys, I am on the west (Vancouver) and I have had this very annoying issue and I want to know if anyone else has experienced it.
Once and a while, maybe ever hour or so into a call I am told my voice goes in and out briefly, I am still barely heard but it makes a few words extremely distant sounding. I have run stock and a few roms and reflash's of the rogers modem but to no avail. It might be a normal network thing but this never happened on my previous captivate.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance!
It's the noise reduction on the phone that's doing that to you, happens to everyone once in a while. Turn it off in the settings if need be. Otherwise raise your voice momentarily and then talk again normally and it won't happen any more.
Wow this has been asked so many times that I didn't even have to type it, swiftkey typed it for me. Just had to keep pressing space lol

Thank you very much!
Never happened to me!!!
I don't think it's noise reductions, would suggest you flash this new modem.

I am having a minor issue with my phone. When I make or place calls the person on the other end says that they hear an echo. I have tried to clear and reflash my rom but still having an issue. I am running SKY-ICS 4.2F-6 with the latest update on AT&T using the UXCLF3 radio. could the radio be causing the problem? Any help would be great.
could be the radio, location you are in, hardware problem, or if you have a case on the phone

I am going to try the UCLF5 radio and kernal and see if that makes a difference.
It happens in many different locations so I ruled that out first. I thought it was the Microcell in my office but when I was at a different location they still heard it.
I am hoping it's not a hardware problem.
I do have a case but the problem just started a few weeks ago and was trying to figure it before I posted here for help.
Thanks for the help..

In ics you have to turn it off from the menu while you're in the call, every call. It sucks.

There is no option for noise suppression when I go to call settings while in a phone call. I guess there might not be a fix for this then. Might have to go out for repair then.

I will give this a try so far it seems to be helping. I will try again later today when I have to make some calls that I will be on the phone for awhile and see if they say anything.
Thanks again everyone for helping on this..
To stop the bad echo in the CM 10 nighties follow these steps.
1. Under call setting enable noise suppression.
2. Under call settings disable call privacy.
Enjoy!
For me, people have only complained about the echo when I put them on speaker.
Will this fix that as well?
It seems there are many here who have echo w/o having to put the phone on speaker.

Did not work. I don't use speaker phone. Echo still present in 8/26 official nightly.

I have been flashing like Will Farrell in Old School!! So I decided to go back to stock, re-rooted, wiped, reflashed and the echo on regular calls is gone. After i did the work around it seems to have made that go away as well. I will try more speaker calls tomorrow and report back.
This build is just running smooth as a babies butt for me!!!
Yea I am really liking the 8/26 build.

This didnt help mine running the 8-26 build with a factory reset.
Caller still hears echo of themselves.
Also in-call volume stays at 1 level no matter how i adjust it. Using volume buttons or on-screen slider.
Tried running it all the way max to all the way min a few times with no change.

Is anyone else hearing a random beeping, maybe 10 second intrvals, whether charging or not? I initially thought it was some type of notification for roaming, but I checked when it was doing it and I was not roaming. Nothing to do with wifi either as it's happened whether turned on or off, connected or not. I believe it is some type of notification, but I just can't figure what it is for. It's not any of the installed notification sounds, so not some type of default that I could have missed. It's annoying, random, and frustrating me.........Restart or battery pully won't make it stop.

Lol u gotta admit his response even tho asshole-ish was at least a lil bit funny. But about ur problem no I'm not getting that or have ever got that. If its not an installed sound then its definitely an app.
But beeping at 10 second intervals is crazy that means if its really an app then its updating a little bit too much.
Why Dont you uninstall ur apps one at a time and see which one fixes the problem when removed?

Saw this in another thread. People say they stopped this with a reboot. The cause is being looked into. Hope this helps.
Yeah, I'll be a lot clearer on my wording going forward!!!!
I've tried everything suggested here, no luck. Can't replicate it, reboot-reset-battery pull won't stop it. I do believe it has something to do with Mobile Network State. Settings/About Device/Status. MNS is disconnected, no beeping. Last time it did it I checked there thinking it was roaming notification. Was not roaming, but MNS showed as connected. Beeping stopped when that eventually went back to disconnected. I'm using Synergy Rom,r60.
I was just wondering if anybody knows if the speaker phone echo on the other end of the line has been resolved on the aosp builds. I searched through forums and most of the time the question doesn't get answered. I would appreciate the help

Odds are it won't ever be fixed as the noise cancelation code is closed source 3rd party code that Samsung licenses.
Playing with the mic gain settings can act as a workaround.

I'd say that's a little overzealous to state that most people have it and don't know it. Most people just plain don't have it, and they know they don't have it. Its different on a phone by phone basis, but most people do not have it, as the other people have indicated in here.
I did have it on cm10 until about a month ago, then never again since then. And yes, people are very aware that only the other line can hear it, I've talked to my wife and brothers and asked them many many times if they can hear an echo when talking to me and everyone reports that everything is fine. Even echo on speakerphone works flawless. I'm sorry for your guys' frustrations.
I have this issue too, even when not on speakerphone. When I turn the volume down it seems to fix it so it seems to me its feedback. Any ideas?

Had this issue on ics . In the other ROMs i noticed that the volume becomes very less after some time ( not mute though ). Reboot as usual fixes it.
i also have similar issue. sometimes audio doesn't work in music player/games. then i pause the player/game, go to home and increase phone volume using vol. up key. it usually fixes the issue

My guess is you have lint stuck in there. If you keep your phone in your pocket, especially with jeans and similar materials, lint tends to find its way into the jack. I get this all the time, and audio cuts in and out, and you sometimes have to force the plug in hard to get it to work at all. Turn the phone off and pull the battery out (really, do it) then bend a small paper clip so it is strait with just a little hook on the end, and carefully use it to pull the lint out of the jack. A bright light is helpful in the process. If I am right, you will be amazed at how much you can pull out, and if you get it clear it hopefully will work again.
I found out if you have your ringtones to vibrate or mute, the sound will stay working. So in other words, keep your phone on either and you'll be good . It's something to do with JB. I did some searching and came across a thread somewhere on xda saying it's something with custom JB ROMs across all devices, even nexus devices. What happens may vary, but in the end JB has audio issues

Yeah. I had the issue for the LONGEST time, now it is working fine 24/7, like I have all sounds working no problem. If it starts doing it again, I'll post here to let you guys know. If it doesn't **** up again, then all I can say is for anyone who get the issue, just stick to vibrate only for notifications and your other sounds (music, etc) will work fine.
I don't know if it matter's or not, but I am running the PAC-man ROM, the most recent v4 6/12/13. It might even be something with the default notification sounds being used. I am using sounds for my notifications from Zedge.
