Its just nfc, which our phone has, u just need an app thats capable. U could try extracting s beam from the jelly bean dump and see if u can get it working in ics for our phones

New thread for Android 5.0 Jelly Bean

Everyone's waiting for Android 5.0 Jelly Bean to release
Post replies with some of the features u would like Google to include in Jelly Bean

Well if I am not mistaken, I read somewhere in an article that Jelly Bean will support that Windows can be booted beside it. Now that would be epicsauce.
Multitasking gestures. Google hired Matias Duarte, and yet they failed to take the best feature if webos: multitasking gestures. Its far more intuitive than virtual buttons, I think we can all agree
Webtop: android, booting from the phone, on a desktop. 'Nuff said
Multi-threading: I don't know that android allows multi threaded applications, but I could be wrong.
As for booting next to windows, I think that is already possible, unless the Android boot loader is more aggressive than GRUB
I remember somewhere that there are some real amazing features coming that were left out of ICS. also heard its focusing on gaming.

I'm pretty sure it does, at least since ICS. If not, the multi-core devices that have been dropping for the last couple of months wouldn't have much to do.
Hey can't wait!
Man my Ace does not even have cm7 officaly yet and the ACESOME devs are nearly done with cm9 AWE but down to the point I heard that Jelly Bean might be the ICS for lower end devices after Samsung taked Google on because the High powered GalaxyS won't get ICS.So realy hope Jelly Bean will be more ICS for the people wit an ACEMAZING phone
I think Google chrome official is needed to, don't y'all agree?

Yup the main problem with putting ICS on the SGS is a problem with the cash flow that the update would cause, this would result in negative performance for Samsung so they scrapped the update.
Anywho I really look forward to JB i feel ICS was the bridge and JB being whats on the other side
Newbie-friendly installer for custom ROMs - Google really needs to embrace the power that is our ecosystem
Advanced settings - allow anal users to customize everything, from the number of apps in the dock to the buttons at the bottom, without having to get custom ROMs/launchers.

here's one for you;
video calling functionality, using 4g or wifi to handle the video stream on a side channel.
Idea being that while google talk and skype and other IM apps may offer video chatting, you need someone's IM screen name to make that happen.
It is about time for that functionality to be available in a phone call
Kinda like facetime
Hmmm
Not bad

S-Voice

Anybody interested in trying it out..
http://db.tt/sXWJVMUX
I tried yesterday for a while with no luck. I tried fixing permissions manually but always got a parsing error. I ended up giving up after a while. It may work with some effort but it was not a simple install for me.

Close this thread its only for ics phones thats why u get parsing error anything under 4.0 it wont work

I read tonight it only works on ics. There is a function it requires to install that is not part of GB stock based ROMs. Not sure if it will work on AOSP based ROMs or not.

1. You need twframeworks .. obviously cause ICS AOSP doesn't support an assistant built in.
2. Two, all of the resources are dependent on new ICS frameworks.
3. It won't work on this phone no matter what we do. We don't have TW ICS.
We''ll probably get AOSP, but for this to work, we'll ned TW.
4. Jelly Bean, Android 4.1/5.0 will have it's own integrated personal assistant probably, which will be 100% better than S-Voice.
-reasons
-better hardware at the time
-better API
-android integration(you need to open your app drawer to get to S-Voice. which sucks)
Will this run for me on ics Rom ? Can I just install or no
Sent From My Rooted 3D
no
first of all, I doubt that you are using any form of a Galaxy S(IDK why you posted here)
you are probably using an Evo 3D or an Optimus 3D, and there are "no" chances unless you have touchwiz ICS, which "ONLY" galaxy S phones can have. I doubt it can be ported to other phones like Sense UI can.
in case you didnt read, i mentioned that i used to own a galaxy s 4g. i passed it on to a friend and got a nexus s. No TouchWiz, and the app worked ok after modifying the build.prop a little.
just wanted to share here because i really liked this community. I'm grateful to all the Devs that made my old 4g run flawlessly. So i thought i would share some love.. BUT i honestly had no idea it was an ICS only app... so sorry.
too bad. samsung has fix this leak so the one and only s III is only able to use it now.
Ok well for all people knocking this It's working for my on da 3d with np right now going to post a link in a few uploading now here you go

Works fine for me as well.
Well i got weather, texting, calling, alarm, timer, opening apps and search to work, but recording voice didn't work for me. There are still a few that i haven't tested but i think that they are fine

Yay I have siri!! I mean "Galaxy" lol. It works good but not the double tab home button, oh well its still cool to have
sent from the headquarters of the Umbrella Corporation
If using apex launcher you can set it open by double tapping the home screen.
Hit menu then apex settings, behavior settings, and Desktop double tap. Select launch app and select S-voice.
I thought the double tap thing might be launcher related. I'm going to test Stock launcher vs Nova and see if that makes a difference.
Edit: No luck. Maybe it has to do with the S-Voice version..?
I tried installing it after connecting it via USB mode but it says "there is a problem parsing the package." My Samsung Galaxy S 4G has been rooted btw.

What rom? I believe s-voice will only work on ics based roms.

CyanogenMOD10 Stock Camera?

Is there any way to get the stock camera apk from the s3 to work on CyanogenMod10? I miss all the options of the stock camera apk
+1
There is no camera app in Jelly Bean to replace for starters. Also the ICS TW camera code is too integrated into the framework to be a simple fix. I'm also hoping someone comes up with something better than what we have now eventually.

Thats one of the reasom Im back on touchwiz for now...camera blows on cm10
Ya that sucks, might have to go back my self

need a rom maker to cross touchwiz with jellybean. would be nice to have the stock apps on the new android... stock camera, nfc, svoice, beam, wifi direct, etc
since samsung is working on updating the phone, i imagine this will happen on it's own in due time...

Yeah, January of 2013 for Verizon users!
You could always install a launcher overtop of a themed modded TW ROM like Bean's or Synergy's.

How Force P3100 to rotate faster?

Anybody know how to force galaxy tab P3100 to rotate faster please? I feel that it's very slow when it rotates? I'm on stock ICS 4.0.4 now.
My guess is there is a filter in place that monitors the rotation. It probably pauses to avoid accidental rotation when you don't want it to. Trying to change this on stock is going to be difficult at best, and even doing it on an AOSP based ROM would be time consuming.
Try aokp or Cm10 from www.teamgacksung.org may be have a faster rotation

Thank all and i'm now on stock ICS 4.0.4 and want to start rooting but thinking it's really a new device just bought 3 days. Not sure if it's going to take risk when we root it and install custom roms like mention above?
I suggest you could go to market to find many rotator it is good. I am happy to use it.

[REQ] Stock Blue ICS Theme (Touchwiz)

For the life of me I cannot seem to find a stock ICS blue theme (notification bar icons) for this phone. I have searched high and low to no avail.
Stock ICS 4.04, Deodexed/Zipaligned running Touchwiz4.0
Currently I have the regular Android green and would LOVE to have the ICS blue. Prefer something that can just be flashed.
Basically something that looks similar to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677032
Any information and I would love you forever!

Ya =/, I really like CM9 and 10, really clean, but i get terribad usb transfer speeds. Like around 700kb/s write compared to 15-20mb/s write using it =/ If I can figure this out I would would just use that. However I can't seem to get a solid answer whether there is a fix to it or not.

Ya I have a class 10 32gb and I feel like my transfers are always a lot slower than they should be too. How would this be ROM related tho?
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
The UMS transfer speed is indeed ROM related. It's been a problem with CM since CM9. Using MTP mode speeds things up. As well as mounting USB through recovery.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Not sure where you would get those but you could edit the stock ones with paint to change the colors. Pull SystemUI.apk use 7zip to browser archive copy the drawable-hdpi from the res folder. Edit the pics then drop them back into the same location. Copy to system/app folder then reboot.

[REQUEST] Smart Stay & Smart Rotate Stock
Been Running the JB 4.1.2. Stock Leak from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038585 for the last two weeks now. It appears to have most of the same stuff as the S3 and it runs great, but I JUST realized there's no Smart Stay or Smart Rotate. Would be nice to have if someone could get their hands on it, mod it and release it. Thanx!
