No it will not work.
actually, you can use a stylus pen with a thick rubber at the point.. like that of an iPhone's
really? i should try then.
I use samsung pen meant for tablets it works perfectly fine in cold icy weather when i am wearing gloves. This is not the same pen but different and has soft rubber tip and metalic body.
i think i wanna DIY my pen and see the result..
Tried it. It works but not very good. My drawings on SL get much crappy than compared drawing on s3.
At least useful when wearing gloves.

Have you try with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934497
Because even with my real pencil I was able to use the touchscreen with this program.
I am using this Nillkin X-pen 3 Multi-stylus.
As far as I know, any stylus labelled for iPhone, or any capacitive touch screens for that matter, will work.

Hi,
I have a little question about a feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note. I saw a video in which AndroidPIT presented a really cool app called "S Memo". I wanted to ask if it is possible to port this app to our phone.
Here is the video, where you can see what he is doing.
The app is shown between 5:25 and 8:20.
The most interresting feature I think is the possibility to insert pictures, photos, clip arts or even maps (beginning at 6:35).
Have a nice day
Taraen
Possible as all apk's fall under compatibility list. Only problem is the touch/stylus difference.
The phone reads the stylus and then responds. The stylus emits a different sort of touch base compared to the human touch. So writing would be somewhat, impossible unless that app supports writing with your finger.
Okay, thank you very much for your answer.
Dude,
You have a stylus-thing for i9000 also, right? Heard that can work as a stylus for our phone, right?

I don't own a stylus. Most stylus pens for capacitive displays on amazon are those with a rubber tip. I've heard that they work but they are bad to handle.

And when used to capture signatures on my work tablet they look horrible. Not sure if It's the design or the stylus with the rubber tip, but it looks bad, LOL.

I'm supposed to be thrilled by this tablet, in fact I still am (not with mine). A family member traveled to U.S and I ordered a White Note 10.1 and my auncle told me it didn't came with the S Pen which instantly put me in a sad mood all day. I can't find not even 1 site in my country that is selling the spen for the Note 10.1. The main reason I bought this tablet was because I wanted to have the S pen function.. I still does not have the tablet, mostly I'll be getting it tomorrow since they are arriving today, and tomorrow in my city.. I wanted to know just in case if The S Pen of the Galaxy notes 1 and 2 (phones) works good on the tablet? I'm not even excited anymore.. :crying:
I'm just hoping they didn't realize the S pen comes inside the tablet, even tho it's explained in an image in the back of the tablet..
thats very odd, did your uncle buy a 2nd hand tablet thats missing a pen? anyway im sure you can buy an S-pen on ebay, or buy the s-pen from international websites.
also i dont think the pen for note 1 and 2 will work.

Are you sure you bought the Galaxy Note 10.1? Because there's no Galaxy Note 10.1 being sold without the S-Pen. So in my point of view maybe you mistook and bought something like Galaxy Tab (2 or 10.1), such there's no S-Pen coming on those.
If you ordered a Galaxy Note 10.1 from amazon and you received a different one, you can challenge them to be refunded or to change it to the correct ordered product.
Also, FYI, the S-Pen won't work on Galaxy Tab series, it only works on Galaxy Note series because there's an active detection panel on the capacitive screen which locates the S-Pen indication/touch (If you bring the S-Pen closer than 3mm the panel locates the S-Pen approximation without touching it on the screen). And this panel is only present on Galaxy Note Series

Yes I ordered the Galaxy Note 10.1, I know the concept and all, he sent me a picture and it is the note.., but it seems the s pen is missing somehow didn't came in the tablet (maybe problem of furbished or idk), it's brand new, I'm about to receive it.. I hope everything is fine..
So.. I just receive the Galaxy note 10.1 and.. It has the Spen inside My auncle told me he had no idea it was there cause he actually open the box and putted right on the leather case backwards (wrong side) so he couldnt see the S pen lol. I love it! My only question is about the Spen, is normal to push it into the screen to actually use it? I feel its not like feeling the touch like my finger which is very smooth
Great to hear that you got the full package. enjoy!
"Push it into the screen"... did you mean you have to write hard? the tip the S Pen comes with (black tip) is a relatively soft one. if you want smoother feeling you can change to the white tip, which is harder. Personally I feel that the white one is too smooth...
Also, some screen protector make the S Pen black tip hard to use. I used to have an anti-glare screen protector on my note 10.1 and it doesn't feel good to write on with black tip.

Yeah sorry if u didnt understand, sometimes is hard for me to explain some things cause my main language is spanish
Well I feel like I have to push the spen hard in the screen for it to write which I dont really like lol I thougut its supposed to touch the screen and works just like your fingers.. and that kinda bothers me.. how can I change that you are saying. I did notice it came a few black and white sticks but I have no idea how that workx? Thank you
Im not ussing any screen protector..
Use the metal ring that came with tips to pull the black tip out. Theres a little hole where the tip is gripped. Now get a white tip and insert it with the metal ring. Just make sure you insert with the rounded end out....
Cheers....

Yes I just checked that, I don't really note much difference about the black one and the white one.. Is it normal that It doesn't recognize the sensitive when it's touching the screen and not pushing it?
The screen is pressure sensitive, like with a pen, the harder you press down the more "ink" is released and the thicker the line. Even using the finger can take a bit of pressure sometimes, especially when plugged into power...
i tried few pens, two different noname from China and Bamboo Stylus, but always the same problem.
i have to press quite hard on screen to get response.
on my phone sgs i9000 i just put the pen on screen and dragin it through screen i get one line, as i should. but on p5100 i have to press pen down and still if i don't press enough, i get no response.
well it's ok for typing, but for drawing i'm afraid to scratch screen in a short time.
anybody else have bad experience with pen on p5100?
could it be software issue?
I don't think the screen is made for use with a pen. The Galaxy Note is good for that. But I believe you can modify touch sensitivity in some way.

I'm actually looking for a stylus too but since we don't have the ability to support active pens using hardware I'm also stuck in a pinch like you since I want to take notes using it. I'm planning on kickstarting
DotPen. I removed the link since I don't know if I'm allowed to post it here but do a quick search on kickstarter website or google and it should pop up (by Dot-Tec).
hopefully it turns out well. I considered getting the adonit ones but their support emailed me back saying they built it with apple products in mind and cannot tell me how well it would be on an android tablet
Well, I came acroos a company called Dagi, they seem to make products very similar to Adonit, only they work with android as well.... see here
and here
It seems like the Dagi is on par with its counterpart and even slightly better.
It makes way less noise when writing, which is important. The Adonit makes so much noise its ridiculous... it sounds like someone is doing the dishes. the Adonit Jot script also has this metal tip which makes too much noise when wrting,
Dagi is a bit cheaper as well.
Anyway, I would really rather have a soft tip stylus purely due to the noise factor and "feel". I don't want to feel like I am about to harm the screen.... maybe when a glass screen protector comes out.
I am also looking for a stylus for writing and drawing and I have taken a look at the Dagi and Adonit. While they both seem to work very well my fear for buying either is the multiple reviews from many different sites about them scratching the screen... I thought about getting a Zagg screen protector but then there are reviews stating that they do not work well with those and I don't want to risk reducing the screen quality using one.
Are these reviews unfounded or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thank you,
Grev
I'm having good results with an inexpensive Targus metal-barreled capacitive stylus. It has the big rubber tip but I've adjusted to it. I would like to try one of the 3mm capacitive stylus.
I use an ikross which can be found on either ebay or Amazon for about $8.00 and come packs of two. Also check the Samsung c-pen which also works really well. The great thing about these tablets, is that they use the same screens as the galaxy s5, s4, s3 rather than led screens which are very temperamental on which capacitive stylus work.

Are you using that stylus on the "S"? I only ask as my next question is to find out if it is scratching the screen?
Well, this sucks. One of my favorite features of the s5 is being able to write on the screen with a normal pencil, pen, whatever I have handy. Despite having the same "increase touch sensitivity" option in the tab s display settings it really doesn't work at all. Not sure what the technological difference is...

No Wacom = crap, no matter what stylus you use.
Samsung C Pen
I've been looking for an option with a fine tip myself and noticed that Samsung offered a C Pen for the Galaxy S3. Well, I decided to get it and try it on my Tab S 8.4. I can say that it works well on the screen straight up, meaning no screen protector. I added an Illumishield Blue Light screen protector on it and it works but not quite as well as without. There seems to bee a little bit of "sticking" instead of gliding smoothly across the screen. This is of course the screen protectors issue and not the pen. I will swap it out once there is a tempered glass version available.
I can use it as a pointer and tap to launch and do things. In S Note, it works very well. I'd even say it works better in S Note than it does in Evernote at this point.
I think this is going to work out well. After all, it does have just a 3mm tip so you can see what you're actually doing and it's not nearly as expensive as most styli that are available.

Wacom bamboo stylus solo 2
But still hope for new galaxy note 8.4 with an amoled screen.
I am using a simple capacitive stylus from Hama for EUR 4,99. Seems to be similar to the Bamboo solo. Works perfektly for taping. I had to set touch sensitivity to high in settings to use it reliably at quick swyping. Works like a charm then. Much better for my needs than inductive pens (have several other Tablets with those).
Disk stylus are fine for precise constructing and diagramming. For scribbling and most other regular work a simpler soft end stylus such as bamboo is better, imho.
there are many active stylus out there.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Galaxy C-Pen Stylus Pen works perfectly
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Galaxy C-Pen Stylus Pen works perfectly with the 8.4" Tab S. Though the product specs say it works only on S3, I tried it with the Tab S and it just glided.
The pen looks premium with a metal body and a hard tip. The hard tip gives it a nice feel while writing as compared to the usual hollow rubber tips.
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Samsung-ETC-...5756258/g.html
I found it lying in the corner in a mobile accessory shop and the shopkeeper was happy to get rid of the old stock for $15. Look around and you may find one.
It seems 'active stylus' is the future for all non-wacom devices.
Search for 'active stylus for ipad'. Add 'for ipad' for filtering out many wacom like products.

No, I don't. If you want cheap, you can go out and buy a standard stylus with a huge nib that won't let you draw (or write) with any real precision. There are plenty of those available on the market.
If you want quality, you have to pay for it. That's what you did buying this tablet, right?

Like another poster previously suggested, a cheaper (but still good) alternative would be Samsung's C-Pen. You can get one for about $25-$30 on eBay.
Anyone else have experience with this pen on the Tab S?

Hi everyone. I noticed there aren't any threads like this one so I decided to create it.
I'm interested if there are any good styli for this device but not those chinese ones for any phone that are waaay too thick. You'd be better off using your nose for precision.
Something like a S Pen but for Galaxy S6?
Also, would you replace your phone for the Note5 now that it's out?
(Personally, it's way too big for me)
The normal cheap stylus work but won't give you the response or sensitivity of the spen. On another note I've heard good things about bluetooth stylus but I never have bought one. I'm curious to see what everyone comments on this topic.

Here's a nice article with good options: http://heavy.com/tech/2015/03/whats-the-best-stylus-ipad-tablets/
from shawnpuerto's post maybe you can search "Point Stylus" on Amazon, this kind of Stylus is thin
I made a DIY stylus from cigarette foil like a guy did in a Youtube video. It really worked great, but after a while falls apart :/
I searched Point Stylus, but I'm not really sure. Do you know what's that circle on them?
I'm probably going to give up the idea of a nice stylus for this phone. Only one idea left. Does anyone know if LG Stylo's stylus works on other devices? I asked on a forum but no one answered.

Oh, it did. But it was a fail. C-Pen for Galaxy S3 (probably works on S6 too).
But as you can see from a quick Google search it was impractical and again thick. And for the price it doesn't offer anything a 0.2€ chinese stylus offers.

Just bumping this thread. I am looking into efficient notes taking, and so I am looking into using evernote to take notes. My laptop, however, is not touchscreen, so I can't use evernote to draw diagrams. I don't own a tablet either. The only touchscreen device I have is my GS6.
So I was looking into getting a fine stylus pen to use for notes taking.
A metal pen with a rounded rear end works fine. Something that you get from banks...

Yep, and probably with anything a bit thicker than your finger (you know what I mean) you can type too. But the thing is that nor OP, nor most watchers of this thread, want to use any of our body's appendix to type/draw/pulse the screen of our phones. It is also highly probable that we have already tried those round-rubber-tap metal cylinders that you can buy for 0.15 cts at ebay, so we are looking for a more "proffesional" solution.
Seriously, it is not a problem if you cannot help in the thread, but it is way better to keep sylent than posting "help" like "try one of these cheap rubber taps from ebay" or "try with any of your body's appendix.

Look up Wacom. There is a film on the back of the Note screen that is not present in the Galaxy series. This is what is used by the pen. It is a different screen. If all OEMs put Wacom screens in you could take an active stylus, like the Spen, and use it on any device. My question still remains. If Samsung doesn't weed out the software for Spen why not put a Wacom screen in the Galaxy line?

You got me wrong. I know the Wacom layer. What I mean is that if you put a Wacom layer in the Galaxy S series, there is no difference between a Galaxy Note and a Galaxy S. You will lose a bussiness line with a more specific market.
There is an intermediate solution. Bluetooth active styli aren't as powerful as S-Pen, but are way more useful than the rubber-tip cheap styli you find in ebay. question is: did someone tried one? They are a bit in the expensive part (50-100 USD) so I wouldn't go for one without a good Android review (most of them are already tested in iPads)
