(Resolved) Getting port error while backing up IMEI - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Resolved

Can someone help me with this. Clearly its telling com5 but when I go to add ports it says com3 in the box. The picture in the OP over at rootzwiki had nothing in that spot. When drivers were being installed after switching from MTP to the specific setting, I didn't let one of the drives finish acidentally. I'm sure if that's the reason or what. It gives me an error enabling port 5 when I try to add it.

I believe you have to enter "COM5" manually in the boxes.

you can get the drivers over at cdma gurus but i still have the same problem it connects but when i try to read its a no go bro just says PHONE DOES NOT ANSWER ??? PLEASE ADVISE
The only driver links at CDMA Gurus are MegaUpload, and we all know what happened there.
nope i gess it has to be a menu where to put the phone on diag or something i have the same problem
Driver
I installed this driver from the kyocera website. Unlike the susteen driver, this one will respond in the windows control panel properties window as a modem (not sure if that makes a difference, but at least it shows that the OS can talk to it). So maybe if someone can figure out how to get it to talk to CDMAWS and other software?
It's so weird, it's not even listed as the correct driver, but the documentation here shows it is the one...
http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/support/drivers/USB_Driver_Installation_Procedure.pdf
Driver is here:
http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/support/drivers/sy21_setup.msi
Dialing ##7678# brings up the DM mode menu; however changing it from UMS to DM doesn't seem to enable t to talk with CDMAWS
oh well i guess we keep trying

Then I would try setting it to 'ask on connect' you might try a different cable. Also, look at any changes you made. Either in apps downloaded, or settings.

Help Rooting [Desperate]

Hey guys, I'm a total noob (please don't hate). I've tried rooting my Nexus S running 4.1 for a long time now, but I just can't
seem to figure it out. I was wondering if someone could walk me though it step by step via some sort of
communication like MSN Messenger. I don't know whether I'm messing up the drivers or what it is, but my
I can't ever unlock my bootloader.
Thanks ahead of time.
Nexus S 4 life but you joined this month hmm lol
Which part are you stuck at?
I tried before I joined. I can't seem to make it say ULOCKED in the bootloader, but I think I'm screwing up the whole thing. Could you please guide me through it? You don't know how happy I'd be.

Do you mean you can't get the Yes/No dialog to show up? Looks like driver problems. Make sure you installed all of the Nexus S drivers needed. While you're in bootloader you should see Android 1.0 under Device Manager on your computer. Installing pdanet usually fixes this..Good luck
i tried pdanet but it comes up with this error message that keeps getting stuck between 2 windows

Not sure what you mean by that...but it looks like you lack fastboot drivers. Refer to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878786 and let me know how it turns out.

You cant manually do it from what im aware, you might have to talk to a developer who knows more about your phone.
Otherwise, restart and try again.

You cant change any files on the phone. Its damn near impossible yo bypass. Unless you can find a Developer who knows the path. Sorry I couldnt help more.

[GUIDE][TUTORIAL] How to restore the Alcatel OneTouch Pop Astro via Factory Image

NOTICE: I found out that this method doesn't work with the refurbished or the T-Mobile warranty exchange version. If you do Step 6, it would show the start up screen after 5 seconds being on the bootloader. If anyone has a fix for it, let me know!
Before you start, if you have access to the phone, be sure to:
• Remove your Google account
• Take off your lock screen password/PIN/pattern
• Uncheck “Protect Your Phone” from Settings > Security
• Deactivate all device administrators from Settings > Security (Optional; Just to be safe)
The reason you want to do this before you restore is that the factory image procedure wipes all data from your phone and it may trigger a “Verify Your Device” screen after flashing. You may have an error accessing your phone because the password of your Google account is incorrect, even though it is/isn’t correct. It’s very hard to recover from it because the “Verify Your Device” module isn’t really complete when it was implemented on this phone and it’s an Android 4.4.x device. There shouldn’t be a reason why it should be there since this module should exists on Android 5.1+. If you don’t have access to the phone to change/disable these settings, I recommend not proceeding if you want a bricked phone due that module error. If you still want to do it and you know FOR SURE that you have no password on lock screen and/or a Google account, then sure, by all means.
If you still don’t understand what I wrote above, read this forum or research on Android Device Protection.
UPDATE: PaKii94 found a way to bypass Android Device Protection. Be sure to read posts 21 & 23 for more information and thank him for that!

Download the factory image files before you start: Factory Image Files
Optional. The USB drivers should be in the factory image files: USB Drivers
Instructions:
1. Be sure your phone is completely powered off. You will know when it’s completely shut down when your phone vibrates after it shuts down.
2. Extract the files and then open \tool\EngineeringSoftwareDownload_S.exe. Also, the USB drivers are also in the tool directory.
3. The application should now be opened, but it asks for the user authentication. Here’s the login:
Username: SU_IN.Panasonic
Password: KoD8naL2
Server: Choose any
Click to collapse
4. After you log in, you should see a flashing dialog. Now let’s prepare to flash!
5. Hold the volume up and down keys while plugging in the USB port. You should see that your phone is installing drivers. If you see a dialog asking for the destination of the drivers, copy the destination and paste it. (Make sure you see the notification LED lights and not see the charging screen/boot screen. If you do see it, take off the battery and do Step 6 again.)
6. After installation is complete, click the row where the COM port is new and click ‘Upgrade’.
7. It should show up a COM port and it will do its flashing. (If you have an error message, take off the battery and repeat Step 6.)
8. After flashing is finished, take off the USB from the phone and it should restart automatically. If a restart doesn’t take effect, just turn on the phone.
9. Here you go, your phone is restored! Your stress is gone! Be sure to put a Thanks afterwards!
I tried to use this to get my onetouch pop Astro back up but every time it tries to flash it keeps saying low battery and switch to high speed com port. Not sure what to do next.My phone was rooted and I took an ota update and it failed now it just boots to recovery.

Was the battery charged?
If it was, try repeating Step 6 and try every USB port until it becomes successful. It may take a couple of times for it to flash.

Hi everyone!
Great post!
I was looking for custom ROMs for Astro Pop but I cant find anything.
This phone has a good hardware but the stock android version maybe isnt the best for it.
Does anyone know if it's possible to flash it a CM or other compatible room?
Thanks for all.
Bye.
The Username is reading as incorrect. Is there an updated one that can be used? Has anyone figured out another way to restore this device from a soft brick state?

I tried it on the A3CUMC1 firmware on Xposed 2.6.1.
This shows up this on Framework:
