Mirroring - Asus Transformer TF700

I want to use my tablet for presentations in my conference room. I need to mirror what's on my tablet screen onto a big hd television. I haven't come across a way to do it wirelessly (which would be my first choice), so I am going to resort to running and hiding a long hdmi cable. Do I need an DVI to HDMI cable?

I depends on what inputs the screen has. If it has HDMI, you'll need a Micro HDMI to (Normal) HDMI cable (the Infinity only has Micro HDMI for screen output).

I've read that using a DVI converter does not work with the TF700 - not sure if it's true - but something to be aware of...

You could use a HDMI cable going to a Wireless HDMI extender and then from that with a HDMI to micro HDMI to the TF700.
But that does get a bit pricey

check the projector for an hdmi connection, if your doing presentations you might want to take a look at quickoffice, it allows you to use the screen as a laser pointer when connected to a projector.

I just priced that out. No thanks!
At some point can we hope for an apple sort of solution?

[Q] transformer detects mini hdmi but can't get o/p on two TVs

I got a female mini hdmi to female hdmi adapter and an hdmi cable and hooked up to my TV. I got a notification on the Xformer and full black screen on the TV at times. Then I got 'Not Support!' on my Vizio 37 inch.
Then I tried hooking it to a BenQ 24" which again causes the notification in the transformer, but no output at all. The screen just shows blue.
I then tried the same mini hdmi adapter hdmi cable combination on my Canon camcorder and it worked perfectly. I tried swapping the HDMI cable with the one in use on my TV and that didn't help.
Is there any chance this is a cheap hdmi-mini hdmi adapter issue since the Xformer is detecting the plug in? Should I make a try of buying another one? Anyone get a cheap cable / adapter anywhere that you got working really well preferably with a Vizio?
Thanks in advance!
Same issue. No luck on my plasmas but my lcds work just fine
Both the tv and the screen I tried out were lcds. Should I try buying a mini to full hdmi cable? This is a major issue for me since i was planning to get rid of the broken screen notebook now connected to my TV and use the tablet to play web video.
Let me clarify. When i said not working on two TVs that is all the TVs i have. I haven't gotten an output to anything so far. But the tablet is detecting when i plug in the mini hdmi adapter.
I'm getting the same problem on a DLP HDTV... my archos tablet did output, but not the TF... I also get a connection notification in Honeycomb.

Interesting...
My Panasonic plasma did not work either, but my Vizio LCD in the bedroom did.
So is this a software issue? If it works on one TV, it must work on another...

Mine worked OK with our Samsung LCD TV, don't suppose that really helps you much but thought I'd mention it.
I have a mini hdmi to full hdmi cable and it refuses to work with my Panasonic Viera plasma, but works fine on a cheap no-name LCD. Not quite sure why
Works fine on my LG E2770V. I will try it out on my Panasonic 50" G10 and respond back.
I tried again with the same mini to full hdmi converter but with a different HDMI cable. It works but grainy as hell and way overscanned, and failed as soon as I tried playing videos. I think the extra adapter and making an extra connection point is not helping. I have ordered another single piece cable with good reviews from Amazon.
Well this is bittersweet... It's good to see I'm not alone having these issues with HDMI connection.
I bought the appropriate cable yesterday (Monstercable) and hooked it up when I got home. The TF had no problem recognizing that it was connected, but the popup notification cannot be clicked. My Sony Bravia 47" is also not recognizing the connection as I cannot switch the input to the one plugged into the TF.
I can only assume this is a software issue and will be fixed (hopefully) with a FOTA.
Does anyone have any suggestions or is there any way to get ASUS to weigh in on this issue. One of the many reasons I went with the TF was because of its HDMI output capabilities. The little popup that asks to display TF screen on the TV is a HUGE tease!!!!
At what resolution does the TF output?
Is this possible that some TV do not support that resolution?
My adapter is on its way from HK. Hopefully it will work with my TVs.
Just another confirmation that my Eee Pad outputs to my Sony Bravia LCD just fine, but refuses to output at all to my Panasonic Viera LCD... Annoyingly I bought the cable for the Viera!
Here's Asus' smart a$$ reply, which gives no solution to our problem:
Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
The resolution would be limitted to 720P,that's design of Andriod.
Wish you good luck! I do appreciate for your feedback!
–-----------------
I should point out that my TV supports up to 1080i, so this really shouldn't be a problem. I would have appreciated more help from their tech support :/

Some TVs only support 1080i but not 720p. My sony projection TV does this.

Just an update.
I bought an mini-hdmi to hdmi adapter.
My TF hdmi out works perfectly with both my plasma TVs: 720P Panasonic Viera, and a 1080p Pioneer Kuro.

I just recently purchased a mini hdmi adapter to hdmi adapter from mono price. I tired connecting the cable to my TV and I get no response from either the TV or the TF. I have a Panasonic Vierra Plasma. Shouldn't I at least get some kind of notification on the TF? Is there something I should enable first that I am missing?

I did not have to enable anything on the TF. You should see a notification icon on th TF when you connect the hdmi cable.
You can try this:
Connect the cable to the TV.
Turn on the TV and swith to the correct input.
Connect the other end of the cable to the TF.
You should see a notification on the TF, and picture should show on the TV.

Hooking up to DVI monitor?

One of the displays I need to connect with the Transformer only have dsub and dvi connections. Has anybody hooked up their tablet through an hdmi/dvi converter?
I have no hdmi cables to test out, and didn't want to spend the couple of bucks for a cable that I have no use for.
Good question. Bumping to get attention.

I haven't received mine yet, but I think a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable -> HDMI to DVI adapter -> DVI cable should work.
It works for me, at least, I'll just be leaving the DVI cable on my desk and taking the HDMI cable with me when I leave work.
I'll post my results when it arrives on monday.
Edit: May just be able to put the adapter on the monitor and skip the cable altogether.
Like I said, I'll post

I have bought a dvi to HDMI converter to try this out, but have not been near a monitor with dvi input all week. I'll update you on Monday, when I return to work.
I appreciate it guys.
=)
It will work fine, since all the signals are digital. Yes it really is that simple.
Except that I haven't seen a single mention as to whether the TF is using HDCP for it's HDMI output. If that's the case then a DVI converter will not work.

I'm pretty sure HDCP has to do with the monitor/tab not the i/o. My Dell 2407WFP is HDCP, has no HDMI (DVI/VGA only) and my TF works with it.

35$ is too much though. Cheaper options on ebay i bet.
.im facing that problem now with my computer monitor. I hooked up the pad by two seperated ways-first with a dvi2hdmi adapter connected to a simple dvi cable, didnt work.second try was with a special 5 meters dvi2hdmi cable.again.didn't work. I don't know what to do? I tried it with another dvi lcd and it just saying that the monitor went to sleep mode.
Important to say that mirroring to a TV LCD or plasma works great whitout any problem.
What's the dvi problem?
i tried this with a samsung monitor. using dvi-to-hdmi-to-minihdmi adapter. i don't know if it's just 1 adapter too many, but it doesn't seem to work.
I don't need a signature.

Didn't work for me. The monitor just doesn't see the Transformer. Might be a dodgy adapter because the HDMI cable works fine.
Didn't work for me either with 3 different types of Dells at work. Just registered after lurking for weeks just to comment on this issue!
I can't post the URLs as a noob but the cable and converter are from Amazon.
I have newer Dells at home I can test with but that was not the point...
Drats!!!
Any kind of hacks to get around whatever is preventing this from happening...??
same problem here. got a dvi > hdmi adapter, connected with a 1.8 meter mini hdmi > hdmi cable to a samsung monitor..
no screen image...
connecting direct to my tv (hdmi) works fine!
edit: read some stuff on the xoom forums about a 5 volt line that's missing in the mini hdmi out... and the need for a hdmi>vga convertor in some cases.. (expensive)
Strange thing is, i connected my popcorn 110 to the monitor and it works flawlessly .. both got hdmi 1.3a ..

[Q] is the TF101 MHL compliant

I have searched the XDA TF101 forum and I did not see anything on the TF101 being MHL compliant. also searched the list from the MHL website and did not see TF101 listed, but then again their list -- I do not think truly represents the full specturm of devices that support MHL.
Does anyone know it the TF101 will support video output via USB to HDMI adapter?

Not sure why you would want to do that as there is a perfectly good micro hdmi port on the tab its self
apparently not all video playbacks work through the microHDMI port
From what I have been reading, apparently not all video playbacks are created equal some work through the microHDMI port connector and others do not. also the micro HDMI does not look like it is the sturdiest of connectors and if you have the TF101 docked the microHDMI port is high off the top surface which will put some strain on that connection.
Let's say I want to use the TF101 docked (to use the keyboard and trackpad) but I would like to push the display/video to a larger display for a presentation to multiple people. If I can plug into one of the USB ports on the side of the dock using an MHL compliant adapter (USB to HDMI output) this would lay nice and flat on the top surface and would be much sturdier and more reliable than trying to dangle a microHDMI cable 5-6 inches off the top surface to plug into the side of the TF101.
hope that clears up any confusion

Hook up TF300 to pc display via DVI

Hi,
I tried to connect my asus to my pc display but it does not even get recognized. That's what my setup looks like: Asus-> micro HDMI to HDMI Adapter-> HDMI Cable 1meter-> HDMI to DVI Adapter-> PC Display. My dads laptop gets recognized without any problems. Did anybody else try this setup? Connecting the Pad to my TV via the micro HDMI andapter and a HDMI cable works as well.

Extended display

Hi all
I have had a search to see if there is a topic for this, but nothing.
I was wondering if the Asus tf300t would be able to extend the display via the HDMI to another display or tv like windows does. I want to use dual monitor mode if that makes sense. I don't want it to mirror my tablet display on the tv.
Basically I want my son to watch a movie on the tv via HDMI from the tablet and that leaves me to still do stuff on my tablet screen. This would be nice if we are not at home or on holiday on rainy days.
Cheers

I dont think that is possible, as the chip for HDMI out virtually only allows for mirroring.

Not true, the same Tegra 3 is in the Surface RT and that device can extend its display on the HDMI port. Even to a resolution of 1920x1080.
I only think android can't do it because how would you control youre second screen.
