I am a former Transformer Prime user who got the GNote 10.1 today. I have a titanium backup of all my old apps and would like to restore them, but am wary to root the tablet with all of the problems people have been having. Is there a way I can restore my apps from TiBu without rooting the GNote 10.1?
Nope, just give it a day or two so the bugs can be worked out with this new update. Exporting your updated backups (.TIBKP) and pulling them into your Gnote is best way I have found to do it but it will require root. If you choose to go for the root (post-update) you can follow the cw method 2 but be sure to UNTICK the automatic reboot in ODIN. The rest of the guide is straight forward.

In same boat coming from prime and got note today. If you follow what the dude above said rooting is easy just don't let it reboot go directly into cwm.
Easiest way is to backup titanium to the cloud then import from cloud to note and restore. Titanium can do all of this
thanks for the quick replies guys! I will definitely be rooting, but was hoping there was a method i could use before things got sorted out. Oh well, what is a few more days.
I have had my GT-N8013 for two days now...Had CWM Recovery and rooted in the first 15 minutes of getting it out of the box. Made a Nand backup and off to the races I went. Copied over all of my TiBu backups from dropbox that I made from my SGS-i747, installed WiFi only apps that I wanted and also all of utilities that I used then just restored DATA only to each of those apps I installed/use and all is working flawlessly.

can someone recommended me an app that can backup all of my apps, bookmark etc thing in my xoom? so that i will easily put them back after rooted or flashed my device. its quite annoying to reinstall them 1 by 1 zz

Titanium Backup. I've only been using it for a day, but everybody I've ever heard who has it says it's wonderfully amazing, and it seems to work pretty well from what I can tell. Root required. If you're looking for something without root, then you won't find much.

I'll second that... its the best i've seen/used
I bought titanium because of all the good reviews....but....out of the 30 or so apps I have installed, it seems to only backup a few...like 8 or so. I kept wondering if I was missing something simple, but when doing batch backup it always list a small portion of the apps I have installed.

Titanium Backup
I've been using it since it first came out.
No problem backing up and restoring 200+ apps on my Nexus One.
Plus it will do settings, sms messages, and bookmarks.
Update. Since I updated to 3.1 and rooted again, seems all 150 or so items are being backed up....yay!

I found this thread while trying to figure out if there is any way to backup BEFORE rooting.
I have a stock 3g Xoom with 3.1 I would like to root it, but my understanding is that it will be wiped, and then I will have to reinstall everything and reconfigure everything, as I now have it, and like it.
So, my question, and I think the question of the original poster, is whether there is a way to backup before rooting? Or is there a way to not loose everything I have now, when I root.
I have used Titanium Backup on my rooted Evo, and it is a great app. But, as was stated, it will only work once the device is rooted.
I am getting the infuse on Tuesday when it comes in FedEx. Right now I have my Captivate rooted and I have used apps to backup my Captivate when installing or updateing Roms. The apps I have been using are ones that need to have my phone rooted. I am not sure if I want to root my infuse as soon as i get it. I am wondering what are some good apps that I can backup my data with on my Captivate and transfer it to my Infuse with out having to root my Infuse?
Or is there not a way to save all my game saved data?
I personally use Mybackup root but Titanium backup is a good one too..
Unfortunately, I think root is going to be a prerequisite for you to be able to restore your previous apps. TitaniumBackup is an excellent choice. Just remember to only restore apps, never system data; and to also only restore apps that are missing rather than just batch restoring everything that you have backed up.
Rooting from my experience does nothing but open doors for you though. So, it won't hurt to give it a go. =)
Rooting and titanium backup is the easiest.... I came from a captivate too and have all my apps and data from it on my Infuse now.

Ok so I will have to root to be a backup to save all the info. One click will work on this phone like my captivate correct?
Its funny but I'm in the same circumstance u are, my infuse should show up tomorrow. Personally my favorite app for baking up/restoring apps is titanium backup. For text my backup pro.
(my backup pro is slower with apps, & I tend to have problems with titanium correctly backing up text /call logs.
I plan on rooting my infuse, flashing a rom. Then installing them manually just because I want to start fresh.
But in the future I'll use the titanium/my backup mix again.

Yes, but you MUST have the Infuse drivers installed for it to work!
I am considering getting this phone on or near the release date. I use Titanium Backup Pro on a rooted Samsung Captivate right now to backup my installed apps and their data. If I get the One X, how will I be able to restore this data from my Captivate? Is the One X easily rooted yet? Or is there another program or technique that I could use to accomplish this same task?

I don't know how easy the phone is to root, but I don't think that you should have any problems restoring apps from your old phone. A few weeks ago I busted my Captivate. I pulled my titanium backups off the phone (luckily the USB/ADB still worked), and put them onto my new phone.
When I restored, I restored apps only (not apps+data, and DO NOT RESTORE SYSTEM DATA), and everything worked great. For a few apps where I really needed the data (note everything, tasker, angry birds), I selectively restored the data.
If you have a box or dropbox accont you can upload the backup to one of them and then download it your new phone. Just beware that it takes FOREVER to upload (at least mine did). Once you are rooted and have TiBu installed you could then use the backup for box or dropbox.
I always root and mod my phones and have used Titanium Backup Pro religiously for years now but I do work on other people's phones a lot and curious what some of you use or think is the "best" or "easiest" solution for people who aren't rooted and want to recover or move over saved apps and data?
My cousin got a galaxy alpha, coming from a S4 and the S4 was rooted and modded (I did for him) and had been using TB as well but much to my dismay he doesn't want to root (at least yet) his new phone in fear of the damn Knox warranty voiding trip counter (he didn't care about same thing on last phone though?)
So would just like to know what is your easiest recommendation to (similarily) get the ton of apps he has saved via TB (and their customized data/settings) etc onto the new device? (Well knowing that one can't specifically use TB to do this process anymore on the new unrooted phone). I know of a couple work-a-rounds but not necessarily the best..so curious.
Thanks
Ps..I DO KNOW that he or I can't specifically restore the Titanium Backup files to a non root device but looking for the best similar option...the old phone is still here and loaded with everything needed...so installing something else and doing new app/data backup to SD or cloud etc IS the option being requested.

Root - restore backups - remove root
You can restore apps which didn't require root, that should be enough if you don't want to root now.
It would help to know what exactly you aren't able to restore without root that doesn't require root already. My thought is: if he doesn't want root now, he wouldn't want to restore something that requires root.
Well the root and unroot is not an option..as for the apps..most are regular apps..it's not the apps or the root access apps that's the issue, it's mainly the easy transfer of all the (many many apps) data to the phone..the built in Google backup and restore has failed me a few times in the past..

Hello, I need to send my device to Samsung for checking about those problems I have posted. As far as I recall, Keis does not back up things that I wrote in Action Memo and S Note. Is there a way to do it? My device is not rooted.
Few months ago, some users mentioned that I need to root my device in order to be able to use software that would allow a full backup and recovery. Does it still hold true?
Thanks.

For full A-to-Z backup of everything yes root and an nandroid backup using TWRP is the only way. Supplement that with Titanium Backup and you're covered with a full device image (the nandroid backup) and individual app/data backups for partial restores.
To answer your question about notes, sync them with Evernote. Then log into Evernote on a computer to verify they are there.
