Restore apps and data from another phone to One X with Titanium Backup? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I am considering getting this phone on or near the release date. I use Titanium Backup Pro on a rooted Samsung Captivate right now to backup my installed apps and their data. If I get the One X, how will I be able to restore this data from my Captivate? Is the One X easily rooted yet? Or is there another program or technique that I could use to accomplish this same task?

I don't know how easy the phone is to root, but I don't think that you should have any problems restoring apps from your old phone. A few weeks ago I busted my Captivate. I pulled my titanium backups off the phone (luckily the USB/ADB still worked), and put them onto my new phone.
When I restored, I restored apps only (not apps+data, and DO NOT RESTORE SYSTEM DATA), and everything worked great. For a few apps where I really needed the data (note everything, tasker, angry birds), I selectively restored the data.

If you have a box or dropbox accont you can upload the backup to one of them and then download it your new phone. Just beware that it takes FOREVER to upload (at least mine did). Once you are rooted and have TiBu installed you could then use the backup for box or dropbox.

can someone recommended me an app that can backup all of my apps, bookmark etc thing in my xoom? so that i will easily put them back after rooted or flashed my device. its quite annoying to reinstall them 1 by 1 zz

Titanium Backup. I've only been using it for a day, but everybody I've ever heard who has it says it's wonderfully amazing, and it seems to work pretty well from what I can tell. Root required. If you're looking for something without root, then you won't find much.

I'll second that... its the best i've seen/used
I bought titanium because of all the good reviews....but....out of the 30 or so apps I have installed, it seems to only backup a few...like 8 or so. I kept wondering if I was missing something simple, but when doing batch backup it always list a small portion of the apps I have installed.

Titanium Backup
I've been using it since it first came out.
No problem backing up and restoring 200+ apps on my Nexus One.
Plus it will do settings, sms messages, and bookmarks.
Update. Since I updated to 3.1 and rooted again, seems all 150 or so items are being backed up....yay!

I found this thread while trying to figure out if there is any way to backup BEFORE rooting.
I have a stock 3g Xoom with 3.1 I would like to root it, but my understanding is that it will be wiped, and then I will have to reinstall everything and reconfigure everything, as I now have it, and like it.
So, my question, and I think the question of the original poster, is whether there is a way to backup before rooting? Or is there a way to not loose everything I have now, when I root.
I have used Titanium Backup on my rooted Evo, and it is a great app. But, as was stated, it will only work once the device is rooted.

[Q] Titanium Backup Pro--last backup missing after installing new ROM

Hi. I'm using Titanium Backup Pro. I made a backup yesterday and sync'd it with Dropbox. Then I changed ROMs from CM7 to Bugless Best GPA15. (OG Droid)
After booting up in new ROM, when I try to restore using Titanium Backup Pro, my last backup is missing. So I'm missing about 15 days of data. That sucks. Any ideas on how I can make Titanium Backup find the last backup? Or how would I manually get the backup from DropBox?
I registered on the TB site, but it does not give me access to the forums. Where is the best place to get help for Titanium Backup Pro? Anyone know how to contact the dev?
You have to manually download the backups from dropbox. Either directory from your device, or on your computer and then move them to the sdcard.
On that note, which is Dropbox sync missing from the schedule options?

not sure if it'll work for you, but happened to be in similar situation few times after changing ROMs, what helped was:
- registering google account - necessary for market to work,
- downloading the latest version of TB (and TB Pro)
- then restart device,
- then run TB and indicate backup folder location (I don't use the default one)
- then another restart
and it worked ok,
now, maybe there's one or two resets too much, but never had time/patience to test alternatives...

Thank you. I don't use the default TB backup location either. I should have thought about this. Great suggestion! I'll go try it out now...
UPDATE: I have a TB batch operation scheduled to run every day at noon and keep 10 backups stored. I sync to dropbox manually, not on a schedule.
Before switching ROMs, I ran a manual TB backup and after that, I manually synced to dropbox. Then I switched ROMs. All this was at 1 or 2am while laying in bed. I wasn't being that careful... and I did not do a backup via ROM manager because I didn't ever want to go back to that old ROM (it sucked on my phone). I figured all I wanted was my data and I thought I had that backed up with TB.
Turns out that all the recent scheduled backups with TB, since about 15 days ago, were failing. The last one I did immediately before switching ROMs doesn't seem to exist. The last sync to dropbox just uploaded a backup from about 15 days earlier, which was the last one to complete.
I could swear that TB was giving me success messages (in notification bar) each day. Same for the last manual backup. So I don't know where they went, but they are nowhere to be found.
I am putting it down to the flaky ROM situation. CM7 just was not working well on my OG Droid. Part of it was too aggressive memory management for that phone.
Bottom line - I lost about 15 days of important data. But GPA15 on the OG Droid is a million times better than CM7.

Transfer info from my rooted Captivate to my Infuse?

I am getting the infuse on Tuesday when it comes in FedEx. Right now I have my Captivate rooted and I have used apps to backup my Captivate when installing or updateing Roms. The apps I have been using are ones that need to have my phone rooted. I am not sure if I want to root my infuse as soon as i get it. I am wondering what are some good apps that I can backup my data with on my Captivate and transfer it to my Infuse with out having to root my Infuse?
Or is there not a way to save all my game saved data?
I personally use Mybackup root but Titanium backup is a good one too..
Unfortunately, I think root is going to be a prerequisite for you to be able to restore your previous apps. TitaniumBackup is an excellent choice. Just remember to only restore apps, never system data; and to also only restore apps that are missing rather than just batch restoring everything that you have backed up.
Rooting from my experience does nothing but open doors for you though. So, it won't hurt to give it a go. =)
Rooting and titanium backup is the easiest.... I came from a captivate too and have all my apps and data from it on my Infuse now.

Ok so I will have to root to be a backup to save all the info. One click will work on this phone like my captivate correct?
Its funny but I'm in the same circumstance u are, my infuse should show up tomorrow. Personally my favorite app for baking up/restoring apps is titanium backup. For text my backup pro.
(my backup pro is slower with apps, & I tend to have problems with titanium correctly backing up text /call logs.
I plan on rooting my infuse, flashing a rom. Then installing them manually just because I want to start fresh.
But in the future I'll use the titanium/my backup mix again.

Yes, but you MUST have the Infuse drivers installed for it to work!

[Q] Titanium Backup Pro

I bought Titanium Backup Pro and have a key.
However, whenever I flash a new ROM, all my apps start coming back. If I try to install the Key from the Play Store, it gets pushed under everythign else and downloads at the end.
I tried the option in Titanium Backup settings where it copies Titanium Backup as an update.zip to the sd card, but that only restores the regular, FREE Titanium Backup app, without the key.
So my question is: How do I restore the Titanium Backup Pro Key on my first boot into a new rom, without installing any of the other apps I previously had? (I prefer to restore everything with Titanium Backup, rather than letting the Play Store do it)
Thanks for reading
When you flash a new rom uncheck keep this phone backed up with my google account. That is not exactly how its worded but its in the initial set up.
REplY
You should have installed MY BACKUP ROOT before flashing the new rom

I do the following steps:
before installing new ROM,
I first back up all apps using Titanium Backup. I ensure that I back up the Titanium PRO app as well.
Then after installing the new ROM... i do the following:
after signing into the phone - I go to play store and stop all downloads and install Titanium Backup free.
when I run the free version it automatically registers the PRO version as it is backed up in it.
then I can restore all other apps using Titanium back up PRO.
Let me know if this was helpful to you.
Yeah I figured it, what I have to do is sign in from my account but uncheck the boxes for backing up accounts and restoring to the phone. Then I just download both the program and its key from the market. Thanks!

Reply to your question
I hear dev support is pretty good (never had to contact him/her/them myself though)
because when applications freeze, then thaw and then I said: application not installed
I leave the option to keep my phone baked up to my account when I flash a new rom, but always uncheck the first option that says something to the effect of "restore from my account". Then I grab tb from the play store, unless the rom has a baked in file explorer, since I keep a copy backed up in my storage.
Installing my backup root prior to flashing a new rom will do absolutely no good if you wipe data.

You guys are unchecking the 'backup to google accounts ' box, but can you check it again, later on? Because I do want my stuff to be backed upwith google as well.

You dont have to uncheck anything, as soon as the phone gets to the homescreen just go to the play store and stop the downloads just takes a click. Keeping google restore checked you will have your contacts back as soon as you boot up.
Contacts will restore whether the restore from Google account is selected during initial setup or not, as long as contacts are allowed to sync with your account.

Tried the recommandations like wipe, use rcm set privileges, no prevail,

TB not restoring apps
Hello, before I installed Pac-Man 4.4, I made a backup with TB. Ported them with usb to my desktop from the computer. did a full wipe. flashed pacman 4.4 and gapps. then i installed tb from the play store, also pro version, then ported the files back from computer to tb file, opened tb and want to choose restore but there are zero apps to restore and normaly there are 350. Some help is welcome thank you.

[Q] Titanium backup and the rooted skyrocket

Just wondering If this app is a good idea to have or do we really need it?
From what I have been reading, it is... doesn't cwm and a nandroid backup accomplish the same thing.... Also is the current version compatible with the ics leaks and all current roms?... I will continue my research but thought I'd throw this out here... It is a question.... Thanks...
Cwm backs up 95% of your setup (it doesn't catch the modem), it's also an all or nothing backup and restore. You can't selectively pick apps or data to restore. That is where titanium comes into play. You can selectively backup your apps their data and your user data (texts, mms, contacts). This is really useful if you flash new Roman. You don't have to reinstall all the apps and data from scratch. You can do batch backup and restore. Titanium also allows you to recover apps from Cwm backups. It's really useful

Titanium works wonders with ICS. I use it after every flash. The previous post described it perfectly. Backup and restore what you want. Its a must have for a flashaholic. I highly reccomend it. You wont regret it. Oh and you can delete, freeze, and unfreeze apps that you dont use or bloatware.

Yes, I've used TB with the ICS leaked ROMs.
I'll third that. I was without home internet few over a month and instead of re-downloading apps and using my data I was able to just restore using TB whenever I was flashing roms. I just started using it and wonder what I did without it.
Titanium Backup is awesome if you switch out ROMS and want all your APPS back without individually re-downloading them.
You can Backup selectively or all apps at once. Restore them selectively or all apps at one.
You can even backup to Dropbox for those unique apps that you don't want to risk losing.
If you are rooted, Titanium Backup is an essential App in my opinion.
