One S Wi-Fi troubles - HTC One S

Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my One S's wi-fi - wi-fi scan utility doesn't show any availible networks, including the ones that were in range earlier. Adding a 100% availiable network manually doesn't help - it says "Not in range".
It was delivered with 1.53 firmware - everything was fine. Then it was updated by FOTA to 1.78, after that i started experiencing the trouble. Flashing the 2.21 firmware with the RUU changed the problem - wi-fi was stuck on "turning on" status forever. Then i unlocked the bootloader via HTCdev.com and installed CWM to flash custom ROMs. None of them helped solving the wifi issue.
The last thing was installing custom ROM based off 1.78 got wifi to "Not in range" status again.
Any ideas?

[Q] Help! Wifi won't turn on after otherwise successful root/custom rom

Samsung Nexus S I9023 (Australian stock)
Baseband version I9020XXKI1 (from bootloader screen)
Baseband version I9023XXKI1 (from System Settings>About phone)
Bootloader version I9020XXKL1 (from bootloader screen)
Kernel version 3.0.8-g6656123
I have been using my Nexus S I9023 with official OTA 4.0.4 (and 4.0.3 before update) with no wifi or network problems. Yesterday however I decided to unlock bootloader, gain root access and flash a custom rom for performance/battery life purposes. I flashed CyberGR-MOD v.11 with the stock kernel and radio with CWM, with no other add-ons flashed.
It went well except for the fact that wifi has not been able to turn on since the first reboot. The switch will attempt to slide to 'On' but flickers, and hangs on 'Turning Wi-Fi on..' It makes no difference whether the SIM is inserted or not, Wi-Fi just does not turn on. Under 'Advanced' WiFi settings, WiFi MAC address and IP address are both Unavailable.
I have been searching for fixes for the last day, such as the WiFix apk found on this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445766) but nothing has worked. I have tried flashing other ROMs, reverting to stock OTA 4.0.3 and relocking the bootloader to return the phone to stock, but WiFi will not turn on in any configuration.
Portable WiFi hotspot also will not work, with merely 'Error' being reported when I try to turn it on.
Is the disparity between bootloader/phone stats regarding baseband version an indicator that I flashed incorrectly? Is it a radio problem?
Would greatly appreciate some speedy responses as I cannot seem to find any solutions to this particular problem.
[EDIT] Fixed problem by installing new kernel, was not able to do this before as my version of CWM was bugged and required an update. From then on was able to flash new files, kernel was the answer!

Random No service

Hi, I have an HTC one S from T-mobile , but unlocked to use in Mexico´s Movistar Carrier.
The phone has unlocked bootloader, Rooted, custom TRW Recovery, Stock Rom Jelly bean 4.1.1, SW 3.14.531.17 710RD ,
But, Randomly I get No Signal at all, No Service with an X mark on the signal bars , some times the signal comes by itself, but other times, I need to restart the phone or go to settings- Network operators-Select Automatically, then it says automatic registration , and the signal comes back...
But this is very anoying...
I have 1 month with the phone.
Some one can Help me to fix this issue??
Regards.
This is the same problem I have with mine, after going back to stock from a failed Maximus 10 install.
The exact same symptoms.

After restoring from lost IMEI problems with cellular network

After I tried to flash Oxygen OS some weeks back and loosing IMEI and WiFi with that, I was able to recover my IMEI and WiFi is working, too. However I have huge problems with the cellular network: I don't have any data transfer when I am not on HSDPA+, and the phone doesn't switch to GSM anymore.
Here's what I did:
1) Installed ColorOS using the help of the No IMEI/WIFI/BASEBAND? thread and got WiFi back
2) Flashed Kitkat (33R) with fastboot and got cellular network back (somehow)
3) OPO started to automatically update using OTA in several steps up to latest Lollipop with 230 modem - no more cellular network
The status bar shows the "SIM card missing" icon, switches to the empty triangle then to the filled triangle and immediately back to the "SIM card missing" icon in a constant loop.
4) Flashed 44S modem with TWRP 2.8.6.0 -> status as above: only data connection in HSDPA+ mode, no data connection in HSDPA and no connection at all otherwise
I am using the German E-Plus network.
I was trying all kinds of modems and tips. I tried the above procedure many times. This post is my last try ...
Any help is highly appreciated.

Just flash "fastboot images" of either latest CMOS12 or CM11S or OxygenOS
The guide is available as a sticky thread in general section
If issue unsolved, flash different modem zip available in general section(use search option or index thread)

inexplicable and random network losses

My Moto G XT1039 (Peregrine) was running perfectly on CM 12.1 since July 2015. But two weeks ago it lost network access. This happened without any update or change on the phone. I tried the basic settings : reboot, toggle airplane mode, re-insert sim card... without any success.
Then I followed this thread to take it back to stock : still no network. After that I installed CM13 with this thread : network is back !
But after two days it lost network again. This time I swapped my sim card with another one : ok, problem solved.
For a few days only ! I then fastboot flashed this radio firmware : great, network is back !
And gone again... And now after flashing stock again, CM13 again, radio firmware again, it doesn't connect at all. Except from that everything works, including bluetooth, wifi and gps. The sim card is new and working in other phones. The exact error is : "Error while searching for networks" when I go to Settings | Mobile networks | Network operators.
I'm completely lost and I can't figure what is the root cause of all this. What do you suggest ? Is there a low level log file somewhere on the phone, in which I could find an error like "unable to start radio because XXX" ?
Thanks !
I installed CM13 once again using TWRP. And it's been running fine for the last 3 weeks ! I will never understand what the problem was...
It only loose network for a few seconds from time to time, but this may be normal.
The same problem occured again.
But now I'm sure it's related to the phone and hundreds of people have the same problem. There is a 96 pages topic on official motorola / lenovo support forum about it.
I can't link it here but it's the first result if you type "Post KitKat upgrade BUGs (Loss of signal etc)" in google.

Fun variant on XT1039 'radio off' issue

A little over a week ago I started having the fairly common issue on my (hitherto completely unmodified XT1039 where the radio is turned off and can't be turned back on again.
Following advice from similar threads on this forum, I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and flashed the stock 5.1 ROM found in this thread as Retail EU 5.1 ROM (Optimized) v1.1: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/rom-stock-motorola-4g-lollipop-rom-t3142816
Didn't get anywhere so I flashed the radio firmware provided in that thread. Symptoms remained the same:
5.1: SIM reads fine, WiFi works, radio off, IMEI reads fine
Following another thread, I tried downloading the stock 4.4.4 ROM from https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto G (1st gen-2013)/Stock/XT1039/
Being a beginner, I ran into difficulties with manually flashing the xml.zip ROM - but on a hunch I tried flashing the radio firmware only.
Surprisingly, this worked - kinda. Having done that, I had a system where the radio worked - but the SIM wouldn't read, and the WiFi wouldn't turn on. I quickly figured out that I could switch between the two states by flashing the 5.1 or 4.4.4. radio firmware:
5.1: SIM reads fine, WiFi works, radio off, IMEI reads fine
4.4.4: No SIM, no WiFi, radio on, IMEI reads fine
Running out of ideas, I tried flashing LineageOS, only to get yet another configuration:
Lineage: No SIM, WiFi on, radio on, IMEI won't read
However, with Lineage running, I could flash the relevant 5.1 or 4.4.4 radio firmware to get those states back.
Finally, tried installing 4.4.4 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/rom-stock-motorola-4g-kitkat-rom-t3160127
This gives me the same set of symptoms I had originally (SIM reads fine, WiFi works, radio off, IMEI fine), whatever radio firmware I flash.
I am at this point pretty stumped - this is my personal phone so would be pretty pleased to get it up and running again. Any kind souls have useful ideas on what my next steps should be?
