Looks like Bestbuy has them in. I got my champagne TF700 shipped to the Bestbuy in Wheaton, MD the week before last. It took about 4 days to get to the store. Good luck!

Are you looking to get the dock? If not, then if I was in your shoes I'd just get the grey one. I don't even think about what color I have at this point and most people go out with theirs in cases anyway. I can agree it's not as purple, but I don't have the side by side.

As it turns out, I wound up ordering a gray TF700 and dock, sight-unseen. The tablet bug was just too pesky to be ignored. If it's too fugly (or, of course, has build issues) I'll return it, but doing without a tablet has been a real inconvenience.

Good choice.
I went to the shop to look at both colors because I couldn't decide, ended up getting the grey/purplish one. The champagne just looked too standard silver to me. It looked good but less interesting/unique. Obviously this is highly subjective but thought I'd throw in my 2c

I really want to get this done but the 3 weeks would be tough, not to mention the $200. I do still have my sweet sweet ADP1 (G1) to use for those three weeks but going back to the G1 after using the N1 is pretty tough.
That is one of the biggest issues with Colorware IMHO, I could almost get myself to pay their crazy prices as they really do amazing, high quality work but the turnaround time is just out of control.
At this point it seems that they are just catering to the part of the market that has the money to either buy right from them or just buy a second device to send in.

I would say there isn't anything to be afraid of. This is a very reputable company that has been around for quite some time. I think anyone would be safe sending their phone to them...
I think I'm going to send my phone in soon. I can handle playing with my G1 for 3 weeks. I just can't decide what color to get. Maybe just all matte black or all matte white. I'm just worried the all white will look to Apple-y.

I like the all matte black look, but all matte black and a color on the camera looks kind of cool too.
Update us on how long it really takes to get your phone back, when I sent in an ipod a few years ago I am pretty sure it only took about a week and a half from the time they got it to the time they shipped it back.

I'm still on the prowl for an outlet item that I'd be a little more willing to mod, etc. So (as I'm sure everyone is thinking) if you know of one from the outlet, let me know. They don't seem to have them now, or the past few days. One thing I did discover during my absence...don't hold your breath for the Notion Ink Adam. Been following those threads for a while and it looks like another Archos fiasco over there. People are lit up today.
Would anyone mind giving me a brief high level overview of what's been done the past couple weeks? I'm going to try to start catching up, but the overview would be nice.

I lucked out and bought one from a Sears in Phoenix a few weeks ago for $279 plus tax. I tried most of the roms and for the past week I have been using the VEGAn-tab build and this puppy is screaming now. There are some issues still but they will be resolved soon. My only complaint is the screen. I plan on changing it to Pixel Qi (especially after the Notion Ink adam disaster yesterday) or some other better netbook screen. Still looking at the issues to get this done but I'm willing to tear mine down and put a better screen in it to help everyone else that can't stand the viewing angles.

How much are the Qi screens running? If I can pick this unit up for $300, then I definitely wouldn't mind upgrading the screen, although my soldering skills suck.

Unfortunately they are going for about $300 ( more than what I paid for my G.) There is someone on the thread where the G is disassembled with pictures saying he connected the Qi on it and it did work but the size of the screen is a little off and the case would need to be modified. I hope he can post some pictures of his experiment.

Just got it in, pretty impressive little guy so far.

About the Samsung Keyboard (gorgeous, btw). Can you type on it and touch/pinch on the screen while it's upright? I mean, would it easily fall back? The rear support looks slippery/flimsy.

That's my only real concern also. The keyboard and case itself looks MUCH nicer than anything else on the market. I don't like cases that cover the sides of the screen (which the Samsung doesn't), and the keyboard looks larger and slimmer than any of the competitor's offerings.
Exactly and the YouTube video is crap, the thing lays flat nearly all the time...not helpful.

I have found it to actually be really quite sturdy, even on very slippery desk surfaces.
The stand itself is a quite ridged, yet has some flexability in that it wont snap under pressure.
The part of it that makes contatact with the desk or whatever is coated in a very grippy rubberized material that grips anything really sturdily.
It does not slipthats for sure.
So yea you can absolutely pinch and zoom while in laptop style angles on a desk, or leather couch.
The whole case is really thin and nicely designed, I also have the Vipertek slim leather case, and this is only very slightly thicker.
It does add quite a bit of weight to it, but its not to bad, and feels very solid.
The keyboard works pretty well, there is some quirks that I assume are related to androids implimentation of BT keyoards and hope to see addresed in ICS, but all in all I find it works pretty well.
When I bought it I was only really planning on using it when I knew I would need it for some reason, and still primarily have my tab in the Vipertek most of the time, but since I put my tab in, it has stayed in, and I don't think I will go back to my old case.

It almost goes all the way around but not quite.
That is probably one of the main drawbacks, but I have found it to be less of an issue then I thought it would be.

Amazon recently added a Halo Gray variant to their listings and I know it comes with Alexa that can be removed but would there be any reason NOT to get this color? I wonder if it would be BETTER to get since it's probably a new hardware revision? I know it has the same internal specs as the others but I've heard some horror stories about the initial batch of the black ones and am wondering if that's still a concern.
I'm curious to know your thoughts!

I purchased a black one from bestbuy earlier in the week hoping it was part of the new batch. It was apparently as the speaker grill was metal. But the light bleed was very present on both sides so i returned it. Started reading about the newer batch of phones that fixed the speaker grill are having light bleed issues. So with that said i’m hesitant to buy another. But this Halo grey color peaks my interest and amazons return policy is pretty great. So i’m going to bite the bullet and try the Halo grey.
I have the hall gray edition, and love it. No fingerprinting on back. And feels much more sold and secure in hand....

Good to hear! I have the Black and while beautiful it is a mother to keep clean when not in a case. I'm running Orea B8.1 and hoping the non beta will be out soon and if it is nice and smooth with no hiccups I may get the Halo Gray as well.

I noticed when flashing to and from Oreo it installed from play store. And I was successful at removing it on Oreo beta unrooted.

Mine didn't even come with Alexa
I have Halo grey and I love it ...just installed a skinomi full body skin and I'm very happy with my device.

I picked up the Halo Grey when it was on sale for $450 and am mostly enjoying it right now. I have never seen any other PH-1 and could not imagine how much of a smudge magnet they must be. Plus the matte has just enough grip to it to keep it from being a wet bar of soap. I upgraded it to Oreo 8.1 within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box and am trying to figure out what the battery life is going to be like.
So yes...go halo!

So 2 weeks later now, How has the battery life been on oreo 8.1 ? getting my essential phone soon. So eager to know whether i should upgrade to oreo or not.
So I am going to call the battery life "acceptable", but not spectacular. I tried out a OnePlus 5T before the PH-1 but could not get VoLTE working on AT&T. That thing seemed to have stellar battery life. The Essential is going into Deep Sleep about 75% of the time according to CPU Spy. All I do is calls/texts and surf the web on mine and I seem to go 2 days before recharging again. The fast charge is damn fast...but I do find myself missing the headphone jack. I needed to plug it in the other day while I was on a call. And keeping up with the stupid dongle is annoying. I did try a cheap used 360 camera and what a total **** show. That thing ate power at a stupid rate, the video/pictures were like meh, and it actually has a tiny fan buzzing away in it....and it still heats up. Overall the phone is solid and built BEAUTIFULLY.
Mine has been great. I love the matte back and its much closer to black than grey. I also wasn't sure about the color of the metal frame from pictures either coming from a black moon I had previously but I really like it in person. Haven't had any quality issues with it.
I will say battery on 8.1 is decent... its nothing spectacular but its more than adequate. Then again I'm coming from a v30 which has possibly the best battery life I've ever had on an android phone.. just a slight step below the mate 8 and mi mix 1.

I am just a little bummed that I bought it at $499 and now its $450 with the essential earbuds and amazon refuses to refund me the difference or price match... and I really don't wanna have to go through the whole return and repurchase process just to get that difference back.
So far my battery on the matte gray was stellar. I spent the weekend at my girlfriends house and didnt have to charge it at all. So far so good.

Lol I set myself up for it. I did use my phone quite a bit over there. I left it on over night too with a sleep machine playing and no problems.
I can't seem to find it anywhere! It is easily the better looking model. So annoyed because being as impatient as I am, I have preordered the black one.

I've been assuming you selected colour at some point in the checkout since the silver version is not on the UK site. That's a shame if we only have the black version here

There was no colour option on the UK site where I pre-ordered. Really disappointing. The chrome of the camera matched the silver back of that unit. The black one is not colour coded as well as the silver one. It bothers me.
That's a shame. The colours are already pretty lackluster and apparently we are down to just black (at least on Asus' website). I'm waiting for the shipping date to update from July 2018 before I order one, hopefully we may see the silver added when their stock is confirmed.

They haven't provided one yet.
I think Asus was waiting to see how people would respond to this "new" camera. If the response was really bad ...then stick with black only and take your time building them depending on pre-orders. However, if the response is positive...then wham-bam-thank you maam... let's get them built and available. For Asus to build them all up front without knowing how the public would respond could have been disastrous to their bottom line. But it appears positive so far so I think we will see them ramp up fairly quickly so as not to lose potential sales to those who are too impatient to wait for them to arrive.

I think Asus was waiting to see how people would respond to this "new" camera. If the response was really bad ...then stick with black only and take your time building them depending on pre-orders. However, if the response is positive...then wham-bam-thank you maam... let's get them built and available. For Asus to build them all up front without knowing how the public would respond could have been disastrous to their bottom line. But it appears positive so far so I think we will see them ramp up fairly quickly so as not to lose potential sales to those who are too impatient to wait for them to arrive.

The danger is that I'm contacting them to cancel my preorder to wait for the silver one. The danger being, they will lose the moment if they don't strike when the iron is hot. People will look to other devices. I'm hearing about the pocofone f2 and I'm still tempted by the pixel 3a.
Kinda strange that the better looking model isn't the one they are producing to attract interest. Even if they wanted to play safe, they could've produced a very limited few models of the different colours as I'm sure most do.

No, this is not true. They started with color which attract more potential buyers and they cannot produce silver version with the same pace as black, because it is multilayered, so they postponed it a little bit, to be able to deliver as fast as possible in the first weeks.

Better looking is a purely subjective viewpoint
From a practical point of view, the silver one more attract fingerprints and the camera is much more prominent in silver design.
Black is not pure black, it is dotted. I chose black, it is more subtle.

Do you have any references or links to support their inability to deliver as fast as possible and that they postponed the silver because of the manufacturing process?
We're all speculating due to lack of information but I'm assuming Asus do market research everytime they release a product. They will know what to realistically expect to sell.

From a practical point of view 90% of buyers will put a case on it so fingerprints won't matter. No one knows what they will use to treat the back anyway. Black also shows fingerprints more than silver. I wouldn't mind the black if it didn't have that ugly blue writing. The silver is lovely.
I get it, the colour will be subjective. The point still is the lack of information regarding its availability. If they feared lower demand for silver, then a limited quantity could have been advertised with the black one. Release them together! Or open pre-orders for both, then dispatch when availability is possible.
What about 8gb 256gb version? I think Asus process is very slow. No specific release date, far behind from Apple, Samsung, Oneplus on this section..

I was surprised by that, but in the linked video they say the opposite.
Usually white or silver color is less prone to fingerprints than the glossy black.

Haha, I was waiting for silver in CZ, but still nothing. Yesterday I was like - screw it, i'm getting black and case for no ... black not in stock anymore
BTW I wrote to Asus why they release two colors, but really only one, and they are like - you can get whatever color you want as long as it is black.
I don't trust hura mobil or any date predictions, huramobil sid 5th june until a few days back. And when I ordered blue Mi9 alza was postponing delivery date for two months. Most common date is june 20 ...
Now that I saw how much of fingerprint magnet silver-blue one is in video you linked I would go for black one and maybe case for the first time - facepalm
I have pre-ordered the silver one from alza.co.uk.
They have given me a June 20th date for dispatch.
