Hi everyone,
I have my eeepad transformer preordered to buy the 32 or 16 GB model, still don't know which one will be the first one...
But, I know that the galaxy tab 10.1 will be upgradeable to android 3.1, and the same happens with the xoom, but, will our future (or current) eeepad transformer see this android version? I'm only saying it because if android 3.1 won't appear on the eeepad, I think the best thing we could do is to buy the galaxy tab
Thanks in advance

Really? who said 3.1 will not be on the Asus???? It will come but we dont have a eta......but yeah if you really need 3.1 then you should get Xoom on Verizon it was launch the other day. Or you could get the tab 10.1 without the sd slot and hdmi port

Yes the GTab is upgradable but when will samsung do it?
Samsung are notoriously slow at upgrading anything!!! plus the GTab has touchwiz which will take more to time for the developers at samsung to get it ready.
If you really want to be negative, maybe google will have an unexpected downturn within the current economic climate and go broke, then all of us will have obsolete devices and we're be forced to buy ipads or windows tablets
I seem to remember reading on another thread that Asus support said that 3.1 would be available on June.
Check this video of the Xoom running HC 3.1
It looks really fast and much more functional.

Asus Germany confirmed on Facebook that the 3.1 Update will be available by mid june! So dont worry guys
What's the chance of getting that ported? Nill right cuz google still hasn't released source.....?

I think it's possible, but is there any reason? The official update will come in mid June, less than a month left. And it's possible someone will leak it before.

Got a link to that page please? There doesn't seem to be an official Asus Germany or Asus Deutsche anywhere on facebook.
Edit: nevermind just found it... Deutschland...the one word I didnt try. They certainly do reply a lot more often on there it seems.
Mid June for 3.1 is good news. Thanks for the update
juhuuu good news, also in mid June there should be transformer available in Slovakia. So 1 month of waiting to a judgement day for me
Can somone post the new 3.1 browser apk

The triangle is for when there is an update file detected on the tablet.
Good to see they already have a version they are happy to distribute to regional sales and support teams - means it is stable enough to have internal testing.

Hi Guys ... and Gals,
Am thinking of getting a TF for my wife ... 16GB without the dock.
The experience I have with Android is ... well, pleasant! I use the Nexus S.
Well, since I'm using the Nexus S, I would be interested to know if the TF comes with the original Honey Comb that can be updated directly from Google or if I would have to wait for updates from ASUS.
Yes I know all things are possible with a root, but:
a) I don't want to be messing with her tablet everytime.
b) I think the ASUS keyboard with the numbers on the top line is nice. Is it available as a separate download? Is it available for the mobile too?
I'm currently on holiday and would like to buy it so ... before I move back to is there any particular problems I should look out for?
Thanks for any help
Updates happen through Asus. Though they seem to be on time with them.
I think all tablet updates come from the manufacturer

Thanks both
So, the only way to get newer versions IF Asus start behaving like HTC or Samsung is to root it and put in a custom rom! Fine ... no probs. Atleast while the going is good, we don't have to worry.
Any known problems I have to look out for before a purchase?
Thanks again.

It's not the known problems you should be concerned about, but the unknown ones.
Get a newer model. Serial code should start with B60xxxxxxxxxxx. B40 is original. B50 middle.
I have a B50 and its nice. Other then that be on the look out for screen bleed. iPad2s have bleed just like everyone else. Some are extreme. Most are barely noticeable. Just keep an eye out.

Asus made some subtle changes ( icons on the status bar) but asus was the first company to push out the 3.1 update ( after the xoom )
Thanks ... guess that will help
It's normal that the update come from the manufacturer.
Asus must have to include the specific drivers for it's tablet (not all the hardware is the same, even if the main platform is based on Tegra2)
It also made few modifications for apps integration and visuals.

The Xoom was only first in the US, everywhere else the Transformer got 3.1 before the Xoom. Actually the Xoom only has 3.1 in US, Australia,Japan and China.
it just has a few mods (buttons + some widgets and wallpapers)
Hey guys do you think will we get android 4.1 for tf101 ??
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
Given Asus' lackluster response to updating the TF101, I will be putting my money on CM10/AOKP when those guys gets working.
Also, in my experience, all of the problems I've had with my TF101 has gone away when I've replaced Asus' firmware with third party firmware. Chances are if Asus comes out with JB for the TF101, I still wont be running their build.
I think we will see a Jelly Bean update since Asus is actually really good with their updates and this should improve the performance considerably. I see so much despair about the lack of updates with the TF101 but compared to the MyTouch Slide 4g that I own it has an amazing amount of support. Asus has been good to us rooters and tech nerds more than any other company outside of Google itself! So yeah, I would expect an announcement in the next few months and maybe an update around October if we are lucky.

Agreed. If anything, asus has been almost TOO fast with updates and ends up borking things.
If you're an avid flash user I wouldn't rush to get JB anyway.
Adobe will stop flash support for JB.

From Adobe:
Beginning August 15th we will use the configuration settings in the Google Play Store to limit continued access to Flash Player updates to only those devices that have Flash Player already installed. Devices that do not have Flash Player already installed are increasingly likely to be incompatible with Flash Player and will no longer be able to install it from the Google Play Store after August 15th.
The easiest way to ensure ongoing access to Flash Player on Android 4.0 or earlier devices is to use certified devices and ensure that the Flash Player is either pre-installed by the manufacturer or installed from Google Play Store before August 15th. If a device is upgraded from Android 4.0 to Android 4.1, the current version of Flash Player may exhibit unpredictable behavior, as it is not certified for use with Android 4.1. Future updates to Flash Player will not work. We recommend uninstalling Flash Player on devices which have been upgraded to Android 4.1.

that and the fact that chrome is the default browser so you need to install another one just to use flash
Will it even work though? Flash on JB
they said it may work but it is not supported its like running a honeycomb app on ics it may work or it may not
an dim pretty sure i read somewhere that it was up to the oem's to support it

Over air updating not working for tablet.
What is the reason?
When will I receive Android 4.1 update for my tablet?
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
No Jellybean to me yet...
I thought just for grins I'd e-mail the trouble desk and ask.
What bugs would 4.1 contain that would hold up the push to the Infinity tabs?
Wow, their response has some broken English in it...
I'm willing to bet he/she just meant the update wasnt ready yet. I doubt the people they have on technical support would know anything about updates until Asus started pushing them out.

Fixed.
They never did answer or reference the OTA question.
That's why I e-mailed 'em.
I just threw the 4.1 update Q in there to see what they'd say.
Hell I don't care...I'm more curious about what I'll get for Xmas.
My son's TF300 just received the OTA upgrade to Jelly Bean! Are these 2 tabs (TF700 vs. TF300) so different that the update would be available for one today, and not for the other until November?

If I had to guess, I would say that it won't be November. One of the main differences is the processor, but they should not be so different that it would cause holdups.

Nope, different processors. They're both in the Tegra 3 family, but the 300 is T30L and the 700 is T33. Although they don't list so on their spec sheet, there's more differences between them than just clock speed. If you look in the dev section you'll see part of why we don't yet have an AOSP ROM is that the differences are enough to prevent the T30/L drivers from working properly.

Though to be honest, I'd rather skip 4.2 altogether.

For me, it depends on the SystemUI. If they switch to the horrible 4.2 layout, I expect *someone* to come up with a port of the old tablet system bar.

Yeah, I still can't figure out that design decision, especially sine it actually takes up more screen real-estate (because you now have a top and bottom "system bar")...

Will it have any effect on the internal NAND I/O performance, or is that purely a hardware issue?

While they can't really fix the slow NAND memory, they *can* do things to significantly reduce the effects of the slow NAND (just as @sbdags has done with CleanROM). However, I wouldn't expect that to happen... Typically the manufacturer doesn't go to the level of performance tuning that a third party developers does.... Hopefully, I'm wrong, but that's my guess.
