need help finding a good txt reader - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Im having trouble finding a good txt reader to read mostly video game strategy guides. Thes files tend to be large so a search function is also needed to find what i,m looking for.
Thanks for any recommendations

I personally use note everything pro. It is quite good.

Xda app

Is it just me or is the search function on the app pretty much useless? When I'm logged in on my laptop and do a search I get relevant results. When I user the search on the app the results are crap, often from other forums even though I am in the Inspire form when searching.

i find "search" on the app useless, 2 different results appear comaparing from desktop and app. and also Q&A doesnt appear in the APP for INSPIRE section.

It's not just you. It does suck. Apparently the search mechanism within the XDA app only does a global search, and only returns a limited number of results, so you end up maxing out with only a few results relevant to the device you're using, if it's more of a device-specific search you're doing.
The problem is there's no way of choosing the scope of the search. If they would simply add three options...
Search site
Search current section
Search current thread
...It would be search heaven.
Since holding my breath waiting for these changes to be implemented wouldn't be good for my health, I just open up the site in the browser to do a search, or do a site search using Google with "inspire" somewhere in the search string.
....XDA is cool and all, but My Inspire browser is awesome Why do you use an app? I don't use apps for anything I can do with the browser... ..Search function works this way 100%.

A page in the browser version of the site takes considerably longer to load/render.
For reading/basic posting the app is considerably quicker. But there's no thanks button and as you say, search is fully implemented.

You are impatient. Lol - It takes like 3 seconds to load any forum page. Especially on wi Fi. Maybe 5 seconds on 4g...er, I mean 3g extended.

Using the web browser loads far more than you need. I just want the text in an easy to read format where you just scroll up and down and don't have to pan left and right. Also, posting pics is less cumbsersome with the app. I also find it quicker using the app.

Hah hah. My bad. I meant to post more than "I" need. I don't need all the extra landscape.

You, sir, are absolutely completely correct. I want that **** loaded *yesterday*.
Don't get me wrong, the full site has far more functionality, some of it unique, but as mentioned, it does load alot of stuff that's unnecessary, and for quickly moving from page to page, especially when looking for something, the XDA app can't be beat in terms of responsiveness in that situation.

Download a cwm version of any rom. Make sure it's a zip file. Extract said zip file, and pull the thinkfree apk file (not sure what it'd be named) out from /system/app/
Be sure to keep it too. Some ROMs don't have ThinkFree in it. I think Valhalla doesn't either. I made it a habit to add it into all ROMs (in /system/app before I flash), just in case.
there is a bloat.zip file floating around. it has every app that comes on the stock phone. you should keep that saved in case you need apk's like this.
Adobe app will read pdfs as well.. but think free or documents to go will read all office apps

Does anyone know of a good system cleaning app?

Can anyone recommend an app that will search my tablet for unused files and folders and delete them? I'm currently using SDMaid but it's not very effective.
After noticing I was running low on room internally I used Storage Analyzer to find what the heck was taking up so much room. As it turns out a lot of installing/uninstalling games and a bunch of ROM flashing and upgrading has left a lot of kruft on my system. Manually going through and deleting stuff yielded an extra 3 gig of internal space without having to remove a single app.
I'm pretty sure there's a lot more crap buried on this tablet. Has anyone got a recommendation on something a little more powerful than a cache cleaner?
I wish I knew, I would like to know as well.

I have that installed. I'm thinking that's as close to a full cleaning as I'm going to get short of digging through directories again.
Yeah, pretty much. I use several tools when I clean my device, but I've yet to find one that's perfect.
Clean Master has a beta version and the devs are looking for feedback and suggestions. They are on xda if you have any ideas to send their way.

Need to have a ROM that supports it, like
SynergyROM w/Multiwindow r169
I've been using it more and more. Just now drafted a Tapatalk post while looking up info in Chrome.
In the morning, I'll open Gmail and K-9 Mail in split windows on landscape. It's nice to go through the bulk morning emails.
Spotify and Facebook
Google Task Organizer and Biz Calendar
Wikipedia and Evernote
Just to name a few. It's fun to experiment with and find good matches.

doesn't the keyboard then take up half the space? but yeah I see its uses forsure. can imagine it being more utilized on a bigger screen like note2 or tablet.
I prefer not to use it
I like using it while using pandora and notepad, jotting down songs while I play ps3! And also use it for youtube or music applications and messaging.

Multi-window in its current state is too clunky. A gesture-based system would be more pleasant
I personally don't find it useful on a phone without a styles.

The Note 2 has the same screen resolution as our S3's, therefore it really shouldn't be much different.

Desktop file explorer

Hey guys ima try to ask this question best I can lol. I'm looking for some sort of file explorer for a computer. I.E, something equivalent to ES file explorer or solid explorer for mobile...
Thing is, I'm looking to edit scripts and apks on my computer, main reason being to change permissions before I add them to a rom and zip it up.
Ive added certain elements to a rom, and although it showed in system apps it would either force close consistently or just not work at all... Anyone have any ideas to help me out? Thanks!
