Potential difference for 700 docks? - Asus Transformer TF700

Ok, so i've noticed my 200 dock doesnt fit EXACTLY with the slightly angled bottom portion of the 700 then it hit me... Could the 700 docks be contoured slightly differently so they hug the bottom of the 700 better?
Maybe?
I know the internals are exactly the same as confirmed by many people, maybe just the hinge is different, more specifically the very edges where it would be angled instead of a smooth curve that the 201 would use. Since i dont have a 700 dock i dont know.

no as far as I can tell they are the same dock, with the exception of the sticker..

Do you have a 700 dock? Is the dock part of it round like the 200 or slightly angled like the 700? Im considering trying to file away a little groove / angle in my dock, my prime doesnt sit just right it locks but only halfway...

I definitely have the tf700 dock and there is an exact color match and perfect fit. They are different in the area where they connect...mine is angled. Anyone who says they are the same must not have the tf700 dock.

[Q] Sleeve + Dock Simulateneously

Good news! I was finally able to snatch a 32GB TF yesterday from NewEgg! YAY!
My dock is already here. Now I'm considering the Asus Sleeve for when I have it not docked. However, I can only see myself actually using it if I don't have to keep taking it off every time I want to dock the tablet. Is there anyway to have it stay on while docked? Maybe we can cut the flap that folds? What do you think? Any other option?
There's a member on here who did just that, cut out the bottom to make it fit on his dock while sleeved.
IMO, it looks horrible, the cut looked sloppy and it bulges out when docked. You would have to cut away a significant amount of the sleeve if you want it to let it dock with no interference.

I'd wait for a third party to make a custom sleeve.
Making the changes yourself means there's a good chance that you'll end up wasting $40.
i've done it w/o cutting, but a good push is needed to make it connect. plus the flap that tucks in covers some keys. i'm not really willing to cut it either.

That was me and for the OPs use here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074265
Yes it is ugly. If I was entering it in a beauty showcase it would get disqualified. The "ugly cut" is not visible when using the thing so I dont care too much. You could make it look better.
That said, if you want to wait 2-3 months, I am willing to bet someone makes a sleeve that can be used with the dock and not look fugly. I think it is is easily possibly after messing around with mine.
If you wan functionality now with a little bit of ugliness, you can modify the current sleeve. However, the current sleeve is well over priced IMO.
Even with the mod I've steered away from getting the sleeve. It looks completely flimsy and loose. Definitely far from the one that Apple had for the iPad 1. Not worth the $40 investment period.
Hopefully, some third-party company will make something usable.

[Q] Tablet vs. Dock Chassis

Is it just me or is the dock's chassis composed of metal? It seems a lot sturdier than the tablet itself. Also feels a lot nicer on the hands. Makes you wonder why they didn't stick with it for the entire thing. The creakiness is starting to bother me more and more.
Sent from my Asus Transformer.

You mean other than the fact that it would be a 15 pound tablet?
No it wouldn't.
I've had a 17" Alienware with 3 mil. thick aluminium chassis, and it was nine pounds. At the most we're talking an extra 200-250 grams.

...uh...I was exaggerating...
Yeah, well my point was that the extra weight wouldn't be an issue - there's heavier tablets out already - it's a cost thing.
they are trying to make it light as possible!
...and in the process they produced something that creaks on both sides making it seem quite cheap (mentioned in about every review). Good job Asus!
BTW, the iPad is metal, so is the Iconia; weight shouldn't be an issue.
I would like to point out that the bottom part of the docking station is in fact the same plastic on the back of the tablet. If they wanted the tablet to match when closed then they would have had to make the bottom of the docking station metal as well and this would in fact increase the weight of the netbook style of the tablet by a significant amount.
Just thought I'd point this out.

Tablet fits in dock without removing case ?

Hi
I have the very nice Samsung book case and was thinking of getting a dock. Anyone know if the table will fit in a dock (Samsung or otherwise) without needing to be removed from the case ?
Thanks
What features are you looking for in your dock? If you just looking for something that'll hold your tablet at a good viewing angle while charging, you could 3D print (or commission someone to 3D print) this dock.
It works well, with and without my case. (There's two versions of the dock: standard and jumbo. I've tried both. I personally prefer the standard.)

Hot much does it cost to get this printed? And does it hold the charging cable in place where all you have to do is slip the tablet into the dock and it connects?
nice answer! thanks, that would probably work. I'll look in how much it would cost to print.
This image - image:103984- suggests that the charger gets held in place by the 2 halves. I doubt its as a snug as a purpose built dock but it looks good enough

Printing cost would depend on who you commissioned to print the dock. If you found someone local and could avoid shipping costs, it could be done very, very cheaply. (The dock I'm using is actually an early prototype from the same guy that wrote the Thingiverse post I linked to, so I lucked out and got mine for free.)
It holds the charging cable firmly in place; requires very little effort to dock, outside of making sure the tablet's centered as you lower it. It seems to be a little sturdier when docked in its case, but its still perfectly acceptable sans-case too.
I leave a dedicated OEM charging cable in my dock. In the prototype I got, the cable had to be kinked at an extreme angle to keep the connection point firmly in place. It didn't damage my cable, but making a habit of kinking the cable every time you used the dock probably would...
Of course, he may have found another way around this before he posted on Thingiverse. I'll try to find out for sure...
I cant wait until 3d printers are cheap(er). In the mean time I found this case http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006OBKDFQ/ref=oh_o03_s00_i03_details which allows me to dock without taking the tab out. Using the same method for using it in the stand of the case, you unhinge the bottom part of the case and dock it. Works pretty well.
It does not fit into my charging, 3.5mm out dock.
The dock has no room for ANY case. Maybe a ZIS.

ASUS Transleeve (Dual)

Does anyone use this new sleeve with the Infinity?
Is it a tight fit? (I saw pictures with the dock and the sleeve)
How does it work, do you connect it with the dock connectors like the other sleeve?
Does the other sleeve still fit?
I have a transleeve dual and I am a bit disappointed.
As you mentionned, the fit is awful, in the "video watching" position, it keeps moving out of the case which forces you to put it next to something. In "text typing" position, the fit is good but the angle is of course a bit low. It does not work as the original sleeve since it can host the keyboard, which is a great improvement btw.
I don't know if the original transleeve will work but I see no reason why it would not.
Ahh that is dissapointing.
Guess I take the SmartCover then if it fits.
I am unsure about it as the product page does not state compatibility.

Desktop chargers (with case on)

Just ordered a Rearth case from here: http://goo.gl/V5ccu
Curious if anyone has this case (or a similar type that does not obstruct the top/bottom) and uses a microUSB desktop charger?
I know, I know, this phone supports wireless charging.... but some of us want to 1) charge as fast as possible and 2) have our phone upright on our desk while charging.
I heard that the N4 fits in the GSIII desktop chargers but I doubt they do with any type of case on. Anyone have recommendations for a "universal" or otherwise desktop charger that will work with this phone/case combo?
I have found one that looks to be promising, except it's Philips brand and is an alarm clock... but still, people are saying it's fairly universal and at least one of the reviews says they are using it with an otterbox case on their phone:
http://goo.gl/4g4jd
Any thoughts or recommendations for other ones that might work?
174 views and not a single comment? Am I the only one who still uses a desktop dock for their phone? lol.

I'm afraid so... Although I'm pretty sure that you can find a universal Micro USB dock. I'd check Amazon or eBay.
I'm in the same boat; I'd love to get a desktop charger, but can't find anything. I picked up a cheap ($5) S3 dock on eBay, but the plug doesn't extend far enough to connect to my N4 and the base isn't wide enough to fully support it either. I came across this one, but it is fairly pricey and I'm not sure I want to be the first person to try it out...

I am in the same boat , I would like to get a couple of docks one for work desk and one for home desk, I have tried to buy that one but for some reason they don't ship from Australia to me in Canada, I have found it here in ebay http://www.ebay.ca/itm/KiDiGi-Unive...ries&hash=item337e43a54e&_uhb=1#ht_5273wt_775
I am concerned with stress on the USB port, other than that I would love to buy it, does anyone know if it can cause stress on the USB or or should it be OK ?
I'm tempted by the KiDiGi one. I have a similar one for my S2 and it's been working fine for me so far...unfortunately its for the S2 only and so won't work with anything else.
I have this model for my iphone and it worked very well with a case.
http://www.amazon.com/Konnet-KN-832...UTF8&qid=1355257145&sr=8-1&keywords=icrado+s3
The Galaxy S3, et. al. version should have the jack facing the correct way and work perfectly for the Nexus 4.
As an aside, I did have to modify my dock for my iphone with case, because the little jack holder they have on this dock is enveloped in a larger plastic covering to keep it attached to the dock. I simply sawed off the top portion that keeps it in place, and superglued.. it has been solid ever since, and the connector reaches all the way into my case to connect just fine.
i'm probably going to get one of these for my

Awesome, that one looks pretty good.... I think I'll give it a whirl. I bit the bullet and ordered a Panasonic wireless charger from Japan for home/bedside use... but a dock like this should work great @ work. Thanks!
why not get a wireless charging pad and not worry about it?

From my OP:
"I know, I know, this phone supports wireless charging.... but some of us want to 1) charge as fast as possible and 2) have our phone upright on our desk while charging."
That's why. It's not just about charging... I like to use my phone as a clock/info station during the day, and having it upright allows me to do that. Now if they'd just make a vertical magnetic charging pad.....
I use the phillips fidelio as351 and it fits my phone with it's multitude of cases and even my N7. also makes for a portable speaker systsem as well as it runs on battery or AC adapter. Lot of places have this dock on clearance.
Seidio also makes one that works with cases.
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-desktop-charging-cradle-p/bd2-crdssx1.htm
The Seidio one looks cool...but the lack of a backing looks like its going to put a lot of pressure on the USB connector.
I was looking at wireless mats, but then if I decide to change my handset again next year I'll be back in the same position I am now.
