when you put a case on the touchpad, will it protect it from e.g. accidental fall? saw a pic of a broken touchpad's screen.. kind of worried now
No you're better off dropping it without a case.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
You're going to have to specify height of drop, windspeed and direction and landing surface density.
Also, is it an African or a European Swal...er Touchpad?

My best advice is to assume it won't and act accordingly.
Obviously a short fall to a soft surface is less likely to damage the pad than a long fall to a hard one.
I think the real value in the case, as long as it fully covers. is against accidental "bumps" into other things while carrying.
is there any case that can protect it from shocks? is there a wrist strap for touchpad

Maybe an OtterBox (which they have not manufactured yet).
Also, there is no place to attach a wrist strap to the thing.
What is curious to me is why are you so convinced you need such protection.
Are you suffering from some physical condition that makes you drop a lot of things?
Have you already dropped laptops and other electronic things which got broken?
If either of these is the case, maybe you should just use the TP on a desk or a lap and not plan on carrying it anywhere else?
I am not trying to be combative or ugly, just pointing out the obvious.

Just glue it to your hand, then attach pillows to each side of it. That works great for me.
PS. If you are falling, put your other hand out first. I went through three touchpads before I figured that out.

I understand completely. Then I would have to say the stategy would be to get an Otterbox (or other hard-shell case)that is slightly LARGER than the TouchPad and some sheets of soft foam and make it work for you. You can always add padding.
And don't complain too much about living in the Nederlands, you do have all those wonderful cafes to visit with your TP.
Wait a second Now I know why you are so worried about dropping it!!!
hahaha ok thx will wait or try an otterbox. Thx again
yeah, i'm looking for a case now, since it seems that the touchpad screen does crack easily. i have a small hairline crack along the bottom of the screen, maybe 2 inches long. doesn't affect screen functions, but still annoying. it's been in my bag, and I haven't dropped it once.
kinda wish I still had my Nook Color. The fact that the screen was depressed slightly relative to the bezel meant that it was protected from cracks more than the edge to edge glass design on the TP.
Think i will buy one of those cheap case from ebay. It's about $12. And a screen protector. Will monitor if otterbox comes out for touchpad.

Pretty unlikely they would invest in tooling up for a TP-specific case since TP production will end after this next batch.
But several companies make so many different kinds and sizes of hard-shell cases, I meant you might find one that may be a hair larger and work with some additional padding. Here's one from Pelican http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail_print.php?Case=1075 that has the "pick n pluck" foam padding but there's no price.
B&H photo in the U.S. sell the Pelican 1075 for $60 so U.K. pricing will most likely be £60.
There are other slim briefcase styles about but whether they are useful or not I don't know http://www.mezzi.com/Netbook-Cases/MEZZI-SLIM-mold-Aluminum-Briefcase/

Index finger is most common.
Otherwise middle finger, ring finger or pinky finger.
If you want a challenge, try your thumb.
I've been looking for one too.
The ones mentioned above are very nice but way too pricy. I came across this just today: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA07R06K0131
Thinking about getting it.
Make your own
rootzwiki.com/topic/9965-video-diy-hp-touchpad-stylus-for-less-than-010/
just remember cheaper doesnt always mean it's any good. read the reviews, especially on the stylus tips, before buying.

i tried my index finger but found it was defective so i returned it for a full refund (minus shipping and handling).
I bought a really cheap stylus on ebay, it wasn't worth the change.
you can try an aquadoodle.

I just posted this in the other thread. I purchased this one when it was a little over $10. It works very well. It has the same rubbery tip as others, however the aluminum body (full) give it some extra sensitivity I believe.

I have one just like this, it works very well if a little squeaky. It's a bit heavy in the hand mind you, I think it's solid aluminium.
i live in asia and sometimes its not ideal to use a touchpad in a humid environment. i went accessory shopping today and found a 10 dollar stylus at the local store. it states it is made for ipads. i tested it and it works great on my touchpad. the size and weight is perfect. the pressure is perfect when working with the tablet. glad i didnt have to order from amazon and wait.

So about 7 months ago I bought a Boxwave for my nook color. I thought, "this is great, now I can take notes in my classes". When I got it and tried it, it sucked. As it turns out there didn't seem to be any styli which did anything on the nook color (from what I read). I just got that Boxwave and tried it on my touchpad...perfection. It is exactly what I was hoping for.. Now I need ICS to hurry up and get here so that I can use the ASUS supernote app (exactly what I have always imagined in a not taking app).
I've tried 3 or 4 different brands and didn't like any of them. Ranging from cheap ebay junk to 20+ dollar ones(best buy etc). I've not tried the Gomatic brand though, and they look interesting.
If it had a pen digitizer it would be so much nicer. No idea what type of technology would have been necessary to achieve that, but as it is, none of the dumb old stylus's have been nice enough for me to take notes with.
So I ordered the MiniSuit case for the infinity... in concept its pretty good, but...
1. The thickness of the leather near the bottom edge hinders the ability to dock the keyboard. Sure it can be done but you basically have to wrap the case around the tablet when docked. Trying to dock with the case on caused slight damage to the metal coating on the infinity around the dock holes on either side of the charging port and caused a slight cut on the back of the tablet.
2. If you do manage to get the thing docked with the case on, the thickness of the boarder that holds the tablet in the case really puts alot of strain on the docks hinge. I don't see any visible damage, but I don't feel confident leaving the tablet like this for long periods of time.
3. Say you do manage to get the entire tablet together and in the full case. The entire thing is loose and does not like to stay aligned right, you will find yourself constantly pushing and nudging the case back into position. Not really fun considering the stress already being put on the henge.
Regardless, I just cant recommend this case unless your just looking for a cheap tablet only case.
Link to product page.

EDIT:
Honestly this case would be halfway decent if the leather on the bottom half of the case was thinner. But it is not... Ill try contacting the company and seeing what they can do.
darn, i should have this case today. Oh well, it wasn't expensive. I guess i will see what other alternatives there are. Thanks for the review.
just received mines. i see your point. It does add a lot of thickness to the tablet. and using it without the dock sleeves feels cheap. Guess i will keep hunting.
Mine showed up yesterday and I set to using it right away. I noticed the same issues. Mine even went so far as to start to tear on the tablet side near the hinge. Mine is going back in the box and headed back to Poetic (another version of the same).
BTW the material is bonded leather, so sticky and gross. I used a leather cleaner and conditioner (the same one I use on my Coach briefcase) and it did no good with removing the cheesy sticky plastic feel. The cover for the tablet only is awkward as the spine portion is large enough tor the docked keyboard, without the keyboard it sloppy and not really useful.
Great idea, poorly executed.

hopefully another company will execute it properly. For now, im thinking about the Transleeve. I dont want the extra bulkiness.
I bought this case and really like it. I don't have the keyboard, yet, but I intend to use this as a stand alone tablet most of the time. Removing it from the case and docking doesn't seem it would be a big issue for as often as I intend to do that.
For those looking for a stand alone tablet case, I really like this one.
Hi,
i was looking to get a messenger style bag that would fit and protect my TF700 but couldn't find much information so i thought it would be a good idea to list the items that do fit it.
Personnaly after some online search i decided on STM's iPad Scout 2.
The bag is really thought for an iPad so the TF700 doesn't fit perfectly (see attached pictures), you might want to get the XS Scout 2 (for 11" laptops) if that's an issue for you, but i wanted a vertical bag (the XS holds the unit horizontally).
But i'm happy with it, the device fits with or without the dock and the bag is the perfect size for me (holds in addition to TF700 a kindle, small notepad, keys, pens and a few small items).
FYI the bag was 46.94 GBP with european shipping included, or $44 on amazon.com.
I own this bag Mobile Edge vertical messenger bag
I like it a lot. There's room for my 13" laptop and my TF700, plus a bunch of other stuff.
Another beautiful three - http://www.gojistyle.com/sleeves/102_inch.aspx and http://www.mobileedge.com/slimline-ultrabook-tablet-folding-tote.html and http://www.bonecollection.com/en/products/detail/ipag/
Yes, not exactly for TF700 but seems to fit the tablet + dock
I use, and really like the Case Crown Messenger Bag. 4.4 stars out of 53 reviews on Amazon. $32.19 with free prime shipping, a little expensive IMO but it fits very well (dock on/off or dock stowed separately and there's compartments to keep the tab and dock apart so nothing is getting scratched), has a few pockets for accessories and is well made. I've used a few messenger style bags and this is by far the best one I've found.
I found this, http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUGEE-Moder..._Accessories&hash=item4169697d23#ht_963wt_932

Hmm, new ebay seller with 0 feedback and this bag is $32.99 and coming from Hong Kong? The bag itself looks decent, but not worth it for the way slow shipping and risk...
I've been using this one by Targus. It's made for the iPad, but it fits my tablet with keyboard perfectly, and is a great little gadget bag.
I use a generic 10.1 inch tablet, inland, microfiber sleeve I got at fry's for 2 bucks on one of their sales. Anything can work really.

I'm pretty happy with this one. I had a laptop bag, but it heavy and bulky. In addition to being trim (thinner than it looks in the pictures, actually), this one has the most comfortable gel-filled strap ever.
Nappolo Cumana
I second the Targus Citygear bag. The infinity fits perfectly, and you have room for a legal pad, charger, pens, phone, etc. It's not so large that you may as well have a backpack or a full-size messenger bag, but it has ample space for everything I need, and has padding for protection. I picked mine up on amazon (prime eligible!) for $23.43.
Am using a small suitable for 7-10.2inc netbooks/tablets, its Case Logic VNA210 Black... (can't provide link becoz of insufficient posts, but Google is your friend )
I paid around 24 Dollar (+/- 20 Euro) and it easily can handle more then one tablet, or combination, tablet or tablet with dock or other stuff like external harddrive (in my case it holds a WD My Passport 500GB in the small front space) and there plenty of space left for other small stuff like extra SD cards etc....
kind regards,

Thanks for posting this. Have you or anyone else looked at the STM Stash? http://www.stmbags.com.au/catalog/laptop-bags/stash-iPad/
I like the STM style and functionality but the closure on this Scout looks strained by the TF700 and I'm worried the velcro won't hold after a while.

I have had mine for around a month and a half. It is honestly used and abused for around 10-17 hours a day, six to 7 days a week. Mostly by me personally. It has developed a few small creeks in the backing at the surround for the s pen and at the top corners around the camera. These creeks are not bad. There is no perceptible wearing on the buttons.
I did drop this tablet from about 4 1/2 feet onto the glass screen on a ceramic tile floor, it landed almost flush with the screen. Despite the first ever in my life dropping of a tablet or laptop the screen did not take any perceptible damage and I did examine it thourally. After 4 or 5 minutes of profanity directed at my self for clumsiness I began to breathe again. It left no scratches in any light at any angle. I feel that this would be a very different case should an impact be delivered on a corner.
The silver band surrounding the front bezal is in very good condition showing no wear as yet though I feel that this is a weakness and will show wear before any other part. The s pen is holding up perfectly so far. Overall I would say the build quality of this unit is good with normal creeks when dealing with plastic parts though I do believe samsung should go metal with a plastic window for gps at this price point. The polish finish of this unit shows the slightest fingerprint and I feel samsung should use a matt finish however im sure some disagree with me.
im eyeballing a refurb from here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834131468
I think there well worth it, don't know how much they cost in the state's but couldn't be as much as in Australia and I'm happy with the Australian price
Although I think we pay too much generally for any tech over here. I don't mind p lastic for the body it probably makes it a little more shock absorbent, the screens good, the s-pen comes in handy for things like sketching if your into that and note taking. I also really like the front facing speakers and. Haven't come across any problems yet playing any of the Graphics heavy games either.
Looks like a good deal for a 32gb unit to me. I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it. I certainly like mine.

well i dont know if i want it from there says at bottom its a B grade item
I find the build quality to be adequate. I had a Transformer tf300t prior, & it felt superior in hand. Very solid and no creaking. The Note feels lighter in hand. It does creak a bit, but once I put it in a leather folio case, it does not.
The fact that the speakers are on the front, the color contrast of the screen, & the s-pen more than make up for any build faults in my opinion.
Build quality is good. I'm satisfied
I really appreciate the lightness and thinness of the unit.
One thing I always do with all my tablets is buy TPU covers.
As I use my Note 10.1 constantly throughout the day I'm not buying a cover that goes across both the back and screen - that would be too inconvenient. I have thought of buying a Zero-shock / memory foam sleeve but I don't get out enough to justify its purchase.

Personally I'm not too happy with the build quality. I feel the back tends to Creek from time to time. I don't like the fact that it use a proprietary cable and not a standard Mico usb. all that saidi would definitely buy it again.
