Anyone found a suitable armband to go running/work out in while keeping my lovely g2x safe and sound from falling out or getting my sweat all over?
or if you have a universal sized armband and are having success with your g2x in it please do share your experiences!

[email protected] choice!
yea i looked at those armbands that are on amazon and I am not too wild about them... right now my biggest candidate is the adidas miCoach armband...
http://www.google.com/products/cata...=X&ei=chXSTZDEJoWftwfhsOyXCg&ved=0CG0Q8wIwAA#
though it is nylon and i dont know how i feel about nylon... i would prefer neoprene...
looking for an armband as well. All I saw were those few amazon entries and one bad review that said the phone sticks up above the cover. I might go to target and try a bunch for the iphone.

Well I am going to take one for the team, I ordered the one that amazon has listed with the ONE bad review... for 17 bux shipped so its whatever...
i went to best buy today and opened a bunch of boxes of stuff and nothing seemed to really fit... i tried the miCoach for the IP4 and it was a huge fail
I pondered using my tunebelt from my nexus one and just getting a different silicone case but with the phone being as big as it is and 12 grams heavier that it may be a little too flimsy and flopping around for my liking...
I want something with the form factor that the amazon armbands or miCoach has where the phone fits into a sleeve and wont flop around... assuming the phone does not stick out literally an inch and the phone will stay in when I am jogging or doing plyometrics, i will be happy with my purchase...
full review to come when i get it...
Thanks looking forward to the review.

I dont have sports authority and ****'s said they only carry ipod accessories, specifically nano armbands... its more of a bestbuy type of store's job to carry smartphone sports armbands since they actually sell the devices... ipods are a little more universal so ****'s carrys them...

What case do you have?
I want to have a good case that hopefully also fits in a good armband
Let me know if you find a good combination please I'd appreciate it
Here is a list of armbands I found on Amazon, I think the only solution would be to buy a an armband not designed specifically for the G2X and see which one adapts the best

the band is too thin, that phone would flap all over the place with a phone our size... bands with a sleeve are better in terms of comfort and stability

Ok so here is my review of the VanGoddy Armband for the G2x/O2X/EVO4g/Atrix/any other giant ass phone!
(Picture album is linked on the bottom of the post)
First off I would like to state what sort of view I am coming from as to eliminate any bias by stating my biases from the get go. I am a slim, athletic body type, 14 inch biceps, 6 foot, 160 pounds. I typically will be doing a lot of running with this device and I referee soccer and will often strap it on while I run a game so I can track my positioning, distance, ect. so I wanted a band that would not be too gaudy and I could hide a bit under my sleeves (underarmor and uniform sleeves). Since again running was my main use with some use in the gym I wanted stability while holding the device so it was not sliding around, flopping around or possibly flying out of the pocket. The other main feature I was looking for was material quality and anybody that works out knows neoprene is clutch especially for people who sweat a large amount, like myself, when I work out or go running. Tad bit of personal information for ya there!
The unboxing and first impressions: VanGoddy shipped it in a bubble wrap envelope, nothing fancy and the item did not need anything fancy. Right away when I looked the thing over I could tell that the pocket to hold the phone looked a tad large for my phone and that the plastic screen was cheap and small. Just putting the armband on, I put it on as tight as I could get the velcro to go and it was a perfect fit, very snug and even tighter when I flexed how my arms would be while running.
Upon slotting the phone in I noticed two things, the clear screen cover does in fact suck, and the phone will fall out of the slot naturally. The device was definitely made with a "universally wide" pouch and I would argue favors the wider phones such as the Atrix, Evo4g and DX; our slim phones got the shaft in this design. I put the armband back on, tightened up, even loosened it a hair from where I had it last time and boom! it actually felt pretty good. Swinging my arm around the phone was pretty snug, I could not get it to fall out regardless of what I was doing which earned it some "do points" in the do or die ratings! I would clear this for use in the gym for bench pressing and doing other strange arm angle lift routines.
Onto the screen cover. This was my biggest grip with this thing. You do not get a lot of cover real estate to work with and the way the cover was stitched into the armband was absolutely thoughtless because it does not even come close to sitting flush with the screen. The part that is stitched around the screen on the outside is a flexible plastic and on the inside they overlapped material so that the screen is not sitting against the plastic cover screen. (See picture overlap flap) This caused another problem that annoyed me a little, if the phone shifted in the slot too much to one way or the other the edge of the phone would get caught on one of these flaps on the inside around the screen edge and offset the phone. It did this twice during my little 3 mile jog while I was trying to skip a song. Getting to the notifications bar while in the slot is damn near impossible, I had no trouble hitting the softkeys but the notification bar is inaccessible. This is partly due to the long "ass" our phones have so the top part of our screens will not be within the clear cover's viewing range.
I did and do not play with the phone much while running because I have very satisfying playlists. Handling touches through the screen was about on par with other covers of similar thickness. I did not really have a problem executing touch commands but changing the volume was a little weird since I had to essentially just squeeze and guess where the volume buttons were on the side. On the bright side, because the screen is not very tight to the screen and the neoprene resists water, I never noticed the screen to fog up on me.
All in all for $17 something cents shipped this is not a terrible armband by any means. It is no 30-40 dollar custom phone fitting armband but it is not so cheap that I just pitched it laughing at what I bought, I would say I got what I paid for and maybe a bit more. Score wise I would give this guy a 7/10. It is good but it definitely has some shortcomings. If you are skinny and dont have at least a 13inch bicep I would not recommend you purchase this device, for fear of it sliding off of your arm. Get used to running with this on your left arm, I found the cord positioning much better and it was getting tangled less around my arm.
Some things I would have liked to see and would be a more quality screen cover. A bit more velcro (one more inch) to possibly go tighter for maybe some more extreme sports or intense working out and for smaller biceps. A slot for a Key is always a nice addition but I usually find a place in whatever pair of shoes I have; sliding it behind the phone you would risk it flying out, I would bet money that it flies out on smaller biceps.
If you are looking for something to get the job done then this is the device for you because it does exactly that. It does not do it extremely well, wow, or impress me in any way but it for 17 bucks it served my needs. Again 7/10 from me...

found this one but it's out of stock. try emailing the seller?
First of all, let me say that I really like the S4. I sold my iPhone 5 and be able to buy it at full price when it was released. I like the size, it's just about perfect size for me, fits well in my hand. The air gestures and air views are pretty nice, they come in handy. Coming from an iPhone, having a replaceable battery is priceless, I liked being able to swap out my low battery with a full charged one.
My first S4 broke while in my pocket on 5/6, I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, was just doing things around the house, when I pulled it from my pocket there was a crack from the upper right corner down the middle of the left side. The AMOLED display under the glass is what broke, device was unusable, nothing showed on the screen except some colors on top left above the crack.
After fighting with AT&T and Asurion the entire next day, AT&T agreed to give me an early upgrade. So I bought a new one on 5/7.
I received my new S4 on 5/10, then this morning, 5/15, while at work I was squatted down, texting, and dropped it from around knee level on carpet with padding over concrete and it cracked the AMOLED display, this time in the upper right corner, with 4 cracks from the side to about an inch into the display.
This S4 had a Spigen Ultra Thin Air case on it, as well as Spigen's Glas.t Slim screen protector.
I don't expect manufacturers to make phones that are indestructible, but this seems ridiculous to me.
I was a long time Apple user before I bought the S4, I don't think I will ever go back, but I'm regretting going with Samsung now. I've spent over $900 between both devices and now they are both in the mail (as well as almost $200 in accessories that are worthless now), for Samsung to evaluate, so for the next two weeks I'm stuck with using an old S2 that likes to reboot every 15 minutes.
I've read a few posts on here about people breaking the screen under the glass like I did. So I'd be careful if you own one.

That sucks dude. But hey, a little advice...fix that S2! If it's rebooting like that, there's something wrong. There are several super-stable Jelly Bean roms available for flashing these days. I come from that world, so I know it like the back of my hand...PM me if you'd like me to help you make your S2 awesome.
Before anyone says this isnt a necessary thread, I think it is.
Having a 32GB and having spent money on my device and screen protector and cases I'd like to know this too, so I would love to hear from anyone else that has broken their device easily
Damn that sucks OP. I think you have bad luck with the S4, I remember when you mentioned the S4 screen cracking while it was in your pocket. I would get another phone if I were you.
I have a really hard time "feeling sorry" for people who drop and break their phones and complain.
I don't know what kind of response (pity?) that you want from people.
Drop the iphone 4 in just the right spot and it'll crack too. Every phone is the same more or less.
Don't want a broken phone? Don't drop it. You break it that way, the fault is no ones but yourself.

That's kinda of an ignorant comment, the OP had his screen cracked and it was just in his pocket so no drop at all. The second time it was a drop but it is his experience and I understand it especially when you purchase a device this expensive twice. Don't be rude man.
His story for breaking in his pocket was "while around the house". So whats to say he didn't accidentally smash it again something while doing housework or anything else like a table?
Dropping your phone - what do you expect? Go buy a Nokia if you plan on dropping it. Even then im sure drop proof isn't part of any phone's warranty.
Pretty straight forward. You may not like my "tone" but you can't honestly count it against the phone if you're not keeping it safe. The error is human in this case. Own up to it and take better care of your phone.
I've cracked iphones and android screens and bodies before, it was probably my fault in handling it; but you definitely won't see me running to a forum and complaining about the manufacturer having shoddy quality when it was clearly human error.
I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's the Chinese models in specific breaking like that because I have seen multiple S4's dropped now WITHOUT ANY CASE from 6 feet and survive with only scrapes to the actual frame and here you have a case AND a glass screen protector, and it falls from half the height and suffers catastrophically.
Has to be something more going on here. Reviews will also show the phone can survive falls just like any other premium metal phone and then some, so quite an odd case here
ALSO to everyone else, stop hating on the OP. Yea I have to agree it's just really vague to say your phone was just up and broken, but I'm willing to look at it as the OP is telling the truth cause at worst, even if he is lying, it really don't matter.
No offense OP, but I'm going to call bull**** here. You have to be leaving out something -- even if it's by accident. I've had smartphones with larger screens for 5+ years now, and not once have i cracked or broken a phone. The last phone that broke was the first nokia clamshell that came out -- and that was after i dropped it from standing on to a concrete floor. Even then it worked still, the plastic just cracked a bit.
There is no way you broke your phone just having it in your pocket -- unless you were wearing super tight hipster jeans with your keys in your pocket. Futhermore, dropping your phone 2 feet on to a padded floor, won't just break your phone either....it just wont.
I've dropped my s3/s4 many times on to my wood floor now without any issues (without a case).
Also, wouldn't your phone be under the 14 day return policy anyway? If anything happens in those 14 days, you get a new one?
Overall, this just doesn't make sense. I think you are omitting some key details here; these phones ARE NOT that fragile.
EDIT-- How did you figure $900 dollars between two phones plus $200 in accessories?
A new line/renewal should be about $200-250 per phone; cases run $30-35, USBs 5-10, screen protector 7-15....
You should have gotten insurance.

I'm not asking for anything, I'm just putting this info out here.
In my experience, the S4 is easily broken.
And it's not glass that broke in both of mine, it was the display under the glass, the device was not usuable after. The glass was pristine on both, for that matter the both phones were as well, just the display cracked.
You can do what you want with the info, I'm just letting people know what happened with my 2 devices.
When you keep you phone in your pocket, make sure you always keep the screen against your leg. I broke my first Galaxy S2 with the screen out in my pocket when I leaned against a table.
I am shocked that the 2nd time with having a GLAS.t tempered glass that it broke.
You spend this kind of money on phone...treat it like your car....GENTLE. I have had a smartphone for years and not even 1 scratch on any phone I have ever owned. It is like your girlfriend or wife...Gently...
Very expensive way to learn.

Let's be realistic. It's no secret this phone is easily broken. And tbh, when you say something like "it's all your fault because you dropped it is a bit ridiculous. I've dropped my gs2 more times than I can count, face down, from up high, sliding across concrete etc, and the screen is still fine, but the build quality on the gs4 is seriously lacking. I'm scared to even buy one after hearing all these stories. For now I'm sticking to my gs2

How can you say the build quality is lacking if you don't even have one?
Just to be safe, think of it this way, if you drop it, it WILL crack. Of course, it might not but if you think it will every time, maybe a little more precaution will be taken. It doesn't matter if it was a mistake...just don't drop it. Any phone that is mostly screen will always have a certain level of fragility and should always be treated that way. It doesn't mean the build quality is bad.

Samsung does extensive hard use testing on its handsets so I wonder if this was a bad batch or something. Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully we don't see a bunch of these threads popping up.

well... i was just thinking about investing in a good case.. but now, i think i will buy insurance instead.. or maybe just sell it off.. really cant afford to loose an expensive phone like this.
thanks for the info.
I'm thinking of replacing my current Samsung Book Cover case with the Otterbox Defender series case on my Note 8. My experience with the Defender series is great, it's a great case on smaller devices but I want to know what it's like on this device. This particular case has a built-in hinge, sleeve, and screen protector. If anybody is using/has used this case, please let me know how it is.
Here's a link: http://www.otterbox.com/Galaxy-Note-8-Defender-Series-Case/sam2-galaxy-note-8,default,pd.html?dwvar_sam2-galaxy-note-8_color=20&start=2&cgid=samsung-galaxy-note-8-cases
Best investments I made for my Note 2.0 and my Note 8.0. I got the glacier color to match my phone case. The protector sleeve is actually pretty nice. Sorry I am at work and can't post photos. When the tablet is in my day bag and with the protector over the screen I am 100% sure that nothing witll happen to the screen. The hinge is actually in the "sleeve" and allows the tablet to be stood up straight or at an angle for whatever view you prefer. Someone mentioned that there is no SD card accedd but I bought the Samsung USB adapter that plugs into the power cord slot and I run my 1 TB Passport external drive off that to watch movies, view and save documents and even listen to over 10000 songs I have saved on it. Only down side to that accessory is that it SUCKS the battery life. If I could find a splitter where it is charging and using the TB drive I will be set. The case is a lil wider than the Gumdrop and a few ounces heavier but its not too noticeable.Other than not being waterpoof this is by far the most protective case out there for the Note 8.0. I went from the Samsung "book" cover type, then bought the Gumdrop case thinking that was the best one out there but if I would have just waited about 3 weeks I could have saved $65 but oh well. So if anyone wants either one I will sell them dirt cheap. I would say buy it because you will not be disappointed.
Cheers
I just received my OBD today! I was so excited to get it installed onto my 8...the thing is like a virtual tank now!
Had official bookcover on it previously. I would have never bought one but it was a freebie with my purchase. I liked how the cover sort of flipped over onto the screen, almost like it was magnetized. I never used it as a stand because I read that it make them not lie flat anymore. Also like the on/off feature, to which I am accustomed on my Note 2 via "Smart Cover" app. However, that case felt very flimsy. The top cover would slide around on the screen when closed, and give the impression it could slip right out of your hands when carrying it. Protection from a drop? I doubt it! Liked the slim form but having children and a daily commute to and from work, throwing it in my handbag every day, or even taking it out at lunch to read or play a game...I was VERY paranoid and toted it around like a newborn!
If you don't want any added weight or girth to your tablet, then don't get the OBD. It does make it a bit bulkier, heavier, yes. But a HARD plastic screen cap that SNAPS into place when not in use? Awesome! Perfect for transporting in a bag or even just under your arm. Piece of mind, for sure. I'm not testing it out with any drops to be sure, but I'm pretty certain it would fair pretty well.
The outside rubber silicone shell was harder than I thought it would be. However, I think it seems like it would be more durable than a softer material. It's tough to disassemble, so that's also a plus that it won't just come apart on a whim. The built-in screen protector seems pretty decent. Clear as glass. It feels a bit funky with s-pen but it's not horrible. Just have to get used to it. It also seems just a tiny bit bowed (maybe it is just the one I got) so when you push down with the pen near the center you can feel it love ever so slightly towards the glass. Really, no big deal, and could just be mine. Gladly I overlook this for the extra insurance.
Love the rubberized side buttons and port covers. I think they are a definite plus to keep dust & such out. It's not waterproof but if water would get spilled nearby while sitting, or splashed from rain or whatever, it would definitely deflect some or all of it. Don't drop it in the fishtank or the toilet and you should be fine!
I'd be glad to answer any questions. I just got it today so I haven't used it too much yet, but I can tell I'm gonna love it!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely going to get this case!
Awesome..!!
Well I too carry this case for my Note 8.0 and it has just made my Note a strong MACHO product....
I got this case for my Note 8 last week and I love it.
I had an Otterbox Commuter on my iPhone 4S: saved it on one occasion in particular that could have cost me a new phone. I also had the Otterbox Defender on my old iPad 2. Both the old iPhone and old iPad are still going strong for my special lady friend and look brand new thanks to Otterbox.
I now have the Otterbox Commuter on my S4, Defender on Note 8 and I'm waiting for my recently ordered iPad Mini Defender.
These are great products, especially if you are a bit rough with your stuff.

It feels....different. Not as smooth as on glass. You can definitely tell there is more "drag" as you're moving the spen across. I am not one of those super-picky people who complain about everything (lol) so it doesn't really bother me.
The thing I've noticed most about the sensitivity of the screen protector (in general) is that it makes the screen a bit less responsive. You must press a little longer (we're talking such a minute split second though, and I'm talking finger here) and more deliberately. This is caused, in my opinion, by the fact that the protector is not sucked fast to the glass underneath. I can feel mine move the tiniest bit when I press on it (because it is not adhered but simply sits on top) and that small bit d, of space between it and the screen provides a slight delay. Don't let that scare you. It's really not that bad. Of course, like I said, consider the source here (non-picky-person!!!!) I would rather have a well-protected device with a inconsequential difference in touch than a vulnerable, naked one! IMHO
Can you remove the screen protector like in other Otterbox cases?
Just got mine today. I don't think you can remove the screen without messing it up. Prepared to be told I'm wrong though.

Cheers

So, after owning the Otterbox for 2 months and 9 days, both "tabs" on the side of the "sleeve" that hold the tablet on it have broke. I am by no means rough on this thing at all. Even with the tablet being in the case I am still super easy on it. Submitted an online warranty claim, Sent in a couple of pictures of the damage to Otterbox, they reviewed my claim and within 24 hours I have a replacement heading my way. So even though it broke, I am still 100% satisfied with their product and now with their warranty process. If you haven't gotten an Otterbox yet, I say get one.
Cheers
I have had mine a couple of weeks and I love it. I am glad to hear how responsive Otterbox is to replace it.

I finally received mine in the mail (1 month wait while overseas from OtterBox, BUT it was free shipping!) and I don't think I'd be happier with another brand. The rubber isn't super soft, nor does it attract lint. I don't think the rubber will stretch any time soon, it's pretty solid! Definitely happy with my purchase!
I'm moderately happy with the Defender on my Note 2 (screen protector isn't flush, rubber stretches) and an considering a Note 8. Anyone got any long term reviews on this case?
re: Defefender-Note 8
Mine has been fine, EXCEPT one of the little tabs broke off of the cover portion. Since it was less than a year, I contacted OtterBox to get a replacement. I had everything gathered beforehand...receipt, place I purchased it, etc...ended up that I didn't really need all that stuff. They just wanted pics documenting the damage, and they also asked for the batch number (probably for quality control purposes-it's imprinted in the rubber.) They sent out the replacement right away via FedEx, had it in a few days. Could not be happier with their EXCELLENT customer service. I'm sure if you did have issues, they would be able to address them with you. Oh, and the rep on the phone was super nice & VERY friendly. :good:
I have the poetic revolution and i couldnt be happier. Its just as solid as the otterbox but only 30$ usd 3 year warranty it took to days from amazon..its feels premium protects well ...
Is it just me or does it this annoy you to? when people are comparing phones and lets say for example the galaxy s4 to something like the HTC one. They would say the galaxy s4 is made out of plastic and the HTC one medal. They say the HTC ones build i hands down better. Now why does that matter if 4 out of 5 people with each phone will put a otter box case or something else on it.

It could potentially impact the durability of the phone I suppose, but I agree, it's largely irrelevant. People will just take any reason they can find to try to prove that their phone of choice is the 'best'.
I got a Lumia 521 for $79 (total cost) which is about the worst in build quality. Got the best case I could find for it and it helped tremendously. So this can work for you also. Hide low build quality with a decent case!
Really, the only concern I have with build quality is how sturdy the phone is. I'm a clumsy guy and I'm prone to drop my phone a bit. I want to know then when I drop the phone, it will stay in one piece. Maybe even be resistant to scratches/dents. The last think I want is for the thing to shatter like brittle glass.
Other than that, a case will hide any shortcomings.

i personally prefer a plastic device with removable barttery and sd card slot than a full metal body with these limitations. it would be best though if samsung replaced the plastic on the next S flagship with aluminum(something like htc sensation). however this would mean to return to square one and redesign everything, therefore making it more expensive. i believe that they don't want to risk their good sales and do something that may leave a scar on their reputation. in addition, i don't know of any samsumng device made of metal, so it would be a huge change for them.
we, as users, would have to take into account some other disadvantages of a metal body. i put an sgs3 in a metal locker and it lost almost all the signal, it even missed a few calls, it caused huge battery drain (when in low signal area devices lose batteruy faster) so the antennas will have to be placed accordingly. plus, scratches and marks are more visible on metal, you can't really put a plastic case on a metal device(in most cases it is really inestethic, imho. but it depends on the case), hard cases can affect connectivity and if dust or sand is caught between the phone and the case it will produce nasty marks on the phone.
so, practically, plastic devices are better. it's just the common opinion that they look and feel cheap. i look forward to reading further replies on this matter.

The reason I love my s4 is the removable battery. if I know I'm going to need it I use my 7500 mAh battery if not I use my stock battery. I hate when people say its made of plastic. So then I show them my extended battery and then they become amazed LOL

case quality
I'm always amazed at how expensive some cases are - £30 for a case is really unreasonable imo. My I9000 was protected really well in a £3 case I bought off eBay!
I think it does not matter, but my Sony Xperia P is constructed of metal, and in my opinion it feels better than plastic:fingers-crossed:
How is it possible to be so much expensive! I pay only US$20 for mine. I use switcheasy colours. nice to touch, but only last 1 year and then cuts appeared in case. had to get new 1. sorry for any bad english.

Simply because casing adds bulk to the device. If the build is great, there is no need to use any case at all because we are assured that it is fine with heavy duty usage ang rough environment.
It's usually Apple fans that claim Android phones have poor build quality...and then put their delicate iPhones in a protective case.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
Well Iphones are meant to have 'superior build quality' but I think that is debatable
Brand new they look amazing, with a bit of use, not so much. I suppose it all depends on the care taken by the user, but my personal experience with Iphones holding their looks isn't great. My Iphone 4 had numerous scratch marks on the glass. My Iphone 5 was covered with marks on the bezel.
Whilst my samsung phones didn't look as premium, they didn't mark up like the Iphones.
If build quality is based purely on durability, I don't know if a phone being metal makes a difference. If it's based purely on looks, perhaps, but then as I mentioned, the looks of a metal phone don't necessarily hold up.
Also on the subject of 'build quality'. I am definitely in the minority it seems, but I don't like the look of the silver HTC one. Sure it's aluminium, but for whatever reason I just don't think it looks that good? Just thought I would put it out there because everyone goes on and out about how good the HTC one looks
because people in their nature don't like to waste their hard earned $ on something made of chew-able toy plastics, especially far an expensive flagship phones
its like questioning or undermining everything fine in life, why do u pay for that expensive leather or well designed wallet, its just a wallet after all
or why do you pay good money for a good quality car with fancy dashboard, a crash is a crash after all
i am sorry but this makes no sense
justifying lack of taste or quality by the "case" argument is just like hiding your head in the sand
there real question is: Why is the richest Android builder of them all so dead cheap with it's loyal customers?
and the answer is: LEMONS
Alternative answer: it's all wasted on marketing
Stop justifying lemons, currently Samsung is sitting at the rock bottom when it comes to design or quality, you name it, Apple, Sony, HTC, LG, Nokia even Huwai are all building better than your (un)precious Samsung
Personally I couldn't care less what the phone is made of, because at the end of the day the phone is a productivity tool. What matters is what I can *do* with the phone, not what it looks like or feels like. I could understand if metal was more durable than plastic, but that is debatable. My phone is plastic and it's in the same shape as the day I bought it. My iPod touch is metal and has tons of scratches on the back. I've treated them the same.
The problem with phones made of metal is that they typically have a non-removable battery and many of them don't even have a microSD slot! When it comes down to form vs. function, I'm going to choose function every time.
It's about material choice and balance for the money spent.
Plastic is good, like the Nexus 5 but glossy plastic is bad as it is fingerprint magnet and fugly (S4). Aluminium also dents, Check out all the 6 months after of HTC One and iPhone.
Also price matters too, you don't wanna spend a lot of money just to get a cheap looking and feeling plastic.
And most people use cases but it's always good to have a great built quality inside.
A sound phone dwells within a sound built quality, and a sound case.

Build quality and using a case are 2 different issues, using a case doesn't mask the build quality....like poor headphone sockets that go wrong, or buttons that get stuck (hard to press).
Personally I always drop my phone - clumsy in nature! So have to have a case. Now i'm looking for one which has a battery built in to double my usage time for the Samsung S4. That chomps up battery like nobody's business. I am a heavy user to be fair. Just my 2 cents
I think there used to be a thread on this, but I can't find it anymore. Here's my question:
I'm looking for a thin leather case for my S6. Not so much a wallet style case, sleeve, or one with a closure, just a protector for the back and sides of the device. My experience with PU or low-grade leather (<$20) isn't great, so I'm fine spending a little more money (>$50).
Ideally, it would be brown and available in the US. The options I've seen so far don't fit in with the color, price, or domestic availability. Any suggestions? If you're going to suggest these, I've already looked at them and they are a bust:
I'm an XDA noob, so I'm prevented from posting links, but I've looked at cases from Stilgut (can't order from Amazon US and potential returns to DE seem difficult), Sena (no back-only case for the S6), Vaja (not making a case for the S6), and Montblanc (if I'm gonna spend $110, I need one that is perfect, i.e., brown). None fit the bill.
Again, apologies if this is a duplicate thread. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
P.S. As an aside, I'd consider a wooden case, but none of those (Carved, Toast, etc.) seem to be what I'm looking for either.
I'm interested in this as well.
The official Apple leather case for the iPhone is perfection for what I want. Unfortunately, that's one area that Samsung doesn't seem willing to take design queues from. I wouldn't mind paying 40/50 bucks if its THE only case id want/need.

Currently choosing between Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6. As silly as it might sound, a good leather (shell) case is one of my highest priorities.
I broke 3 iPhone 5's until I put the official leather case on it (I always disliked plasticky cases).
It added more grip, and just enough protection from average falls.
Ridiculous really. Choosing a $1000 piece of tech based on a $50 accessory. But that's just how it is.
Hopefully someone knows of something.
They haven't announced the S6 case yet but I have always been happy with with Vajacases - if you are willing to drop some extra cash. Here's one of the options for the S5: http://www.vajacases.com/galaxy-s5-leather-cases/premium-leather-grip
Edit: I see you mentioned Vaja is not making an S6 case. What is your source? It usually takes them a few months before the new models are ready.
There actually was a thread on this subject until recently, but when trying to find it now, I just realized it has inexplicably been deleted. Had a few good examples in it, but they're obviously not reachable now. I'll post the link here below in case the thread turns up again.

I contacted Vaja through their website back in April and they told me that it was under development. When I checked in last week, they said that a case for the S6 "is not currently being planned for production. We planned to develop a line in the past but I am afraid right now the project has been cancelled."
Whether that means it may show up later, who knows, but for now we're out of luck. Boo.
Yeah, no clue either why the other thread disappeared. It led me to a couple of versions of Apple-esque leather Galaxy S6 cases on eBay.
This one without a plastic fill in the camera/HRM cutout is the one that I already bought in dark blue for my black S6. In short:
Top and bottom are left uncovered
Fit is pretty good, no looseness anywhere really
The power + volume down buttons are both properly clicky
The volume up is pretty mushy, but not too bad
No interference with headphone jack or bottom USB port
The width of the case means that the camera module no longer touches the surface when laid on its back
It does NOT, however, appear to have any lift on the front so your screen will touch the surface when laid facedown
The last item was probably so that swiping in from the edge of the screen is still quite comfortable
Overall I'm pleased enough with the quality and feel of the PU leather cases that I might end up also trying out this slightly different version with plastic fill for the camera/HRM cutout . I'm not sure if it's unclear photos but it looks like this version has full coverage around at least the top of the bottom?
Anyhow, the one that I have feels a lot like the Apple Leather case I've tried out on iPhone 6, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Wow, thank you so much. The "more expensive one" is exactly what I am looking for. No cutouts on the side or anything. Looks perfect. Out of curiosity, how long did shipping take? I have the worst luck with that kind of thing, and it looks like it ships out of China.
Also, since you have the dark blue/black S6, can you throw up a few images for me?
I just ordered one of each... hopefully they arrive before S7....
Looks like one of these would work. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, the buttons on the second cases I linked in my post look like they'll have better buttons. On mine it's like... slits on each end of the button section.
Shipping was surprisingly fast for me. I think I wanted like... just under two weeks? I was quoted a shipment time like 30+ days from purchase (which is insane), so I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up in normal China --> US shipment time.
If I can get a few minutes to myself at home tonight I'll try and snap a few choice pics of the dark blue on my black S6.
Though it's not without its tradeoffs, I think you'll be more than pleased with your order

I know exactly what you mean. Originally I wanted an Xperia Z3, but there are literally no cases available without massive side cut-outs. The Z3 one is borderline ridiculous: http://www.bouletta.com/index.php?id_product=103&controller=product
The Galaxy S6 one isn't too bad. Not as good as the standard Apple one though unfortunately =\
I have the second case linked from ebay earlier. It is nowhere near leather feeling. I would say it feels more like a smoothed out velvet than anything. Also, the case does not really offer any protection for the front. It might stick out 1mm past the screen. Overall it is an okay case for the price, but if anyone wants a "leather" feel to a case, this is not the one for you. The buttons are not that great either. You lose most of the tactility from the keys with the case. I imagine over time they will break in and feel better, but after a week of use it doesn't feel great, but doesn't feel as bad as it did at first.

Am I missing something? I can't seem to find a price/how to buy? Is it a non-US site?. Also, the brown case looks grayish, no? (I'm legit color blind though, so that could just be my broken eyes)
Hey that bouletta case looks really nice. However, is the thickness of the back of the case enough so that the camera doesn't touch the surface the phone is placed on? I've seen many posts of people saying how they cracked the camera lenses after just putting the s6 on its back like on a table or something similar.
Thanks

ARRIVED!!
This one came in today : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Luxury-Orig...Domain_0&var=570673785727&hash=item3f4af29e66
Gotta say... i'm insanely impressed. I can't imagine getting much closer to the official Apple Leather case than this. Sure, there is virtually no drop protection, but that's not what I'm into. Just need to keep it scratch free and get that camera bump evened out. I have attached some pics.
Biggest problem for most people will be lack of lip around the screen. It's pretty much flush with the aluminum on the device. I actually prefer that since I never ever place my device face down... so i'm able to still feel the slight curve to the glass.
The buttons are a little stiff right now - but I'm going to chalk that up to material. It'd be awesome if they wear in over time, but not a big deal if they don't. I'm thrilled with this thing for 8 bucks... could easily sell for 30 in US retail stores.
I also got the 5 dollar version and it's not nearly as nice. That two dollars makes all the difference in the world apparently.

Thanks for the pictures. It looks to be a little off around the bottom of the phone. Is it just the angle of the picture or is that the case?
I had purchased something like this for an iPhone 6 plus that I had and it just slightly didn't fit the phone. The cut out for the camera was off were it wouldn't sit flush with the back of the phone. I ended up just biting the bullet and paying the 50 odd bucks for the apple one. It would be nice if there was a decent quality real leather option, even if the price was higher. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Again thanks for the picture.
