True but I think it is same process for any supported device. So I mean we will not have it.

Useless.. just buy new phone if you need unlocked bootloader

I have a Sony Xperia S and still have my old XT720... I will love to see my XT unlocked and see how the performance will improve with new kernel and optimized roms

I believe only post 2011 phones will be supported.
I wounder if someone disassembled the bootloader, reprogrammed it to accept unsigned roms and kernels and asked motorola to sign it, would they do it?

xt390 root
Anybody knows how to root xt390? thanks.

No chance. They even ignore requests to simply recompile and sign their own unmodified kernel sources simply with swap support enabled.

I haven't seen anything specifically about XT390 in this forum. Have you tried shortfuse's superoneclick? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

Yeah,I have tried. But it dosen't work.Thank you all the same.

It‘s rooted now, with this software http://products.mgyun.com/api/downjump?productcode=romasterlab, you have to rest to factory preset first and connect the phone to computer with usb cable, start this software and root. The phone will be automatically restarted during rooting, then you can see the superuser icon.
Unluckily,It has no english version of this software,if you know some chinese, try it and have fun.

Sadly, I haven't found anything related to unlocking the bootloader in the boot image.
This is the fxz for the chinese ME865, one would be crazy to flash it to one's american MB865 (though I would be interested in the results )
Shouldn't it still work even though it is the Chinese FXZ. Although you might need a translator to work your phone right LoL

it should still have the languages though
Yeah I was just joking around about the language LoL. But with all said and done right now we would flash using RSD lite correct. Could this be made into a flashable zip that we could use with our bootstrap?

It's not a big deal for me to read Chinese....lol
After all, It's my native language.....
But under the setting part should have language selection...
Thinking about flash it on my, Cuz AT&T version doesnt have Chinese display. That made some of my apps can't work right
Anybody flash it yet? I'm restraining myself from doing it, because I feel there's a chance it may have the unlock for the bootloader, If memory serves me correctly, it was from a leaked China based firmware for the ATRIX, that revealed the unlock for the OG ATRIX. I maybe mixing it up with the Photon, but who knows.

With the original Atrix there were some issues with international builds not commpatible with USA builds, and there were some bricks along the way. There were even bricks with trying to roll back firmware after the gingerbread update. Patience for me, I am not ready to brick mine.
You can flash just the boot loader if interested... I would but I am working on another bootloader hack to break the current bootloader open, or I would flash just the bootloader, that is one thing that can be tried.... Who still has time on their 30 day return left, that wants to try this:
using the android SDK run the following using the boot.img from this Chinese image
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then boot into the boot loader with holing the volume down buttom while powering the phone on
Then
fastboot oem unlock ( this should give you output that gives your id )
fastboot oem unlock #### ( the ####'s are the uid you recieved from the command above ).
Then reboot the phone. You may have to erase your userdata with:
fastboot erase userdata
Hopefully you won't have to do this...
This might be worth a try.

Could this be ics? Bootloaders unlocked?
Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk
Do you have a link that you can share?
No. The Chinese update to fix the -75dB issue is 2.3.6.
Also it breaks the root method but supposedly it's possible to keep root with an app "OTA Rootkeeper".
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the Chinese bootloader is unlocked.
(poking around here with machine translations can be... unclear )
Saw a story on there that Motorola engineers were actually dispatched to the poster's house to test the fixed baseband with the customer.
I wish we could get that kind of service in the USA.

you cant unlock sim by rooting
you can unlock sim by buying code on ebay for $0.99 though, if your phone has at&t logo on it.

Rooting and Sim unlock are unrelated to each other. You need to purchase a sim unlock code (or go through AT&T) to unlock the GSM carrier.
That sucks...for a HTC inspire phone, i was able to unlock and root at the same go using the software from xda

You mean root and unlock.... the bootloader?
Totally different "unlocking" of the phone.
As souljaboy & moofree said, the subsidy (carrier, SIM, whatever) unlock is only through the carrier (like AT&T) or buying a code online..
Sent from my phone's mind
As alteredlikeness told you there are different kind of unlocks
1) Sim Unlock: so that you can use any sim card, you can get the code from the network provider that you bought the mobile from, alternatively you can get the code at ebay or any other local sim unlock experts, I assume you are from India, like here in Hyderabad there are few in Jagdish Market, only few of them are legit like Metro Mobiles.
Then there is the dreaded 2) Bootloader and it's unlocking: With which we can flash (install) custom kernels and thus CyanogenMods, MIUIs, AOKPs and all..
and I humbly let you know that, if you are talking about Sim unlock procedures, this is not the place to come, XDA is all about mods, ROMs, Bricks(!) and everything in between.
and if you are talking about Bootloader unlock, unfortunately the hard working devs here have not found a way yet to unlock it, really hope that they will eventually prevail.
and either way, just merely rooting doesn't unlock anything, either network lock or bootloader, rooting is a process where you get superuser access.. which is kind of Admin access to your Windows OS, which is required to install few apps and also to dig down into the android OS.
Thanks for listening! have a great day.

Not eligible for bootloader unlock?

I bought a boost mobile (USA) moto G yesterday. After I followed every step on moto site, it gives the error
Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking
What does this mean? Boostmobile device cannot be unlocked, therefore rooted?

What i did..
Restore DRM & relocked bootloader and flash the stock rom.... And then send it to service center and they also fix the issue for free!!
So is there any way to gain the warranty back like in samsung we can clear flash counters by "triangle away" app... And here in sony with DRM method??

Hmm... I wonder. Is it okay to pick up a single sim version? Looks like everyone has dual sim here and I'm a little worried when ROMs do get ported, it might not work on the single sim version. Would it work anyway? Or do I really have to go for the dual sim?

Which one???
I think there is a miss understanding here guys. This doesn't unlock your device unless you have a code. All it does is make it easier if you don't know the fastboot commands. This won't unlock a turbo unless you have a unique code.

Will this work for the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD? (xt926). Where do I get this unique key?
edit: Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD doesn't qualify for bootloader unlock
